Chemarea primilor apostoli

1 Într-o zi, în timp ce se afla lângă lacul Ghenezarett și mulțimea se înghesuia în jurul Lui ca să asculte Cuvântul lui Dumnezeu,2 Isus a văzut două bărci trase la marginea lacului; pescarii coborâseră din ele și-și spălau năvoadele.3 S-a suit într-una dintre bărci, care era a lui Simon, și l-a rugat s-o depărteze puțin de la țărm. Apoi S-a așezat și, din barcă, a început să dea învățătură mulțimilor.

4 Când a terminat de vorbit, i-a zis lui Simon:
– Depărtează barca la apă adâncă și aruncați-vă năvoadele pentru pescuit!

5 Simon I-a răspuns:
– Stăpâne, toată noaptea ne-am trudit, dar n-am prins nimic. Totuși, la cuvântul Tău, voi arunca năvoadele!

6 Au făcut așa și au prins atât de mulți pești, încât năvoadele începuseră să li se rupă.7 Le-au făcut semn confraților lor din cealaltă barcă, să vină să-i ajute. Aceștia au venit și au umplut amândouă bărcile cu pește , până acolo încât erau să se scufunde.

8 Când Simon Petru a văzut ce s-a întâmplat , a căzut la genunchii lui Isus și I-a zis:
– Doamne, pleacă de la mine, pentru că sunt un om păcătos!

9 Căci atât el, cât și cei ce erau împreună cu el fuseseră cuprinși de uimire din pricina pescuitului care avusese loc.

10 La fel erau și Iacov și Ioan, fiii lui Zebedei, confrații lui Simon.
Isus i-a răspuns lui Simon:
– Nu te teme! De acum înainte vei fi pescar de oameni!

11 După ce au adus bărcile la țărm, au lăsat totul și L-au urmat.

Curățirea unui bolnav de lepră

12 În timp ce Isus era într-una dintre cetăți, se afla acolo și un om plin de leprăt. Când L-a văzut pe Isus, a căzut la pământ înaintea Lui și L-a rugat zicând:
– Doamne, dacă vrei, poți să mă curățeștit!

13 Isus a întins mâna, l-a atins și a zis:
– Da , vreau. Fii curățit!
Și imediat lepra s-a depărtat de la el.

14 Isus i-a poruncit:
– Să nu spui nimănui, ci du-te, arată-te preotului și adu o jertfă pentru curățirea ta, așa cum a poruncit Moise,t ca mărturie pentru ei.

15 Dar vestea despre El se răspândea tot mai mult, astfel că mulțimi mari de oameni se adunau să-L asculte și să fie vindecați de neputințele lor.16 El însă se retrăgea în locuri pustii și se ruga.

Vindecarea unui paralitic

17 Într-una din zile, în timp ce El dădea învățătură, erau acolo și niște fariseit și cărturarit, care veniseră de prin toate satele Galileii și ale Iudeii și din Ierusalim. Puterea Domnului era cu El, ca să vindece.18 Și iată că niște oameni aduceau pe patt un om care era paralizat. Ei încercau să intre cu el, ca să-l pună înaintea lui Isus.19 Dar fiindcă n-au găsit cum să-l aducă înăuntru din cauza mulțimii, s-au suit pe acoperișul casei t și l-au coborât cu patul printre cărămizit, în mijlocul mulțimii , înaintea lui Isus.

20 Când le-a văzut Isus credința, a zis: „Omule, păcatele îți sunt iertate!“21 Cărturariit și fariseii au început să-și zică: „Cine este Acesta Care rostește blasfemii? Cine poate ierta păcatele decât numai Dumnezeu?!“

22 Isus însă, cunoscându-le gândurile, le-a zis: „De ce gândiți astfel în inimile voastre?23 Ce este mai ușor, a spune: «Păcatele îți sunt iertate!», sau a spune: «Ridică-te și umblă!»?24 Dar ca să știți că Fiul Omuluit are pe pământ autoritatea de a ierta păcatele...“, și atunci i-a zis omului care era paralizat: „Ție îți spun: ridică-te, ia-ți patul și du-te acasă!“25 Și deodată el s-a ridicat înaintea lor, și-a luat patul pe care zăcuse și s-a dus acasă, slăvindu-L pe Dumnezeu.26 Pe toți i-a cuprins uimirea și Îl slăveau pe Dumnezeu. S-au umplut de teamă și au zis: „Astăzi am văzut lucruri nemaipomenite!“

Chemarea lui Levi

27 După toate acestea, El a ieșit afară. Isus a văzut un colector de taxe, pe nume Levit, șezând la masa unde se colectau taxelet și i-a zis: „Urmează-Mă!“28 El a lăsat totul, s-a ridicat și L-a urmat.29 Apoi Levi a dat acasă la el un ospăț mare pentru Isus. Și o mare mulțime de colectori de taxe și de alți oaspeți stăteau la masă împreună cu ei.30 Fariseii și cărturarii murmurau împotriva ucenicilor Lui și ziceau: „De ce mâncați și beți împreună cu colectorii de taxe și cu păcătoșiit?“

31 Însă Isus le-a zis: „Nu cei sănătoși au nevoie de doctor, ci cei bolnavi.32 Eu n-am venit să-i chem la pocăință pe cei drepți, ci pe cei păcătoși.“

33 Ei I-au zis:
– Uceniciit lui Ioan, ca și cei ai fariseilor, postesc dest și fac rugăciuni, dar ai Tăi mănâncă și beau!

34 Isus le-a răspuns:
– Puteți să-i faceți pe nuntași să postească în timp ce mirele este cu ei?35 Vor veni însă zile când mirele va fi luat de la ei și atunci, în zilele acelea, vor posti!

36 Le-a spus apoi și o pildăt:
„Nimeni nu rupe un petic dintr-o haină nouă ca să-l pună la o haină veche, pentru că altfel va rupe haina cea nouă, iar peticul din haina cea nouă nu se va potrivi la cea veche.37 Și nimeni nu pune vinul nou în burdufuri vechi. Dacă face așa, vinul cel nou va crăpa burdufurile, iar vinul se va vărsa și burdufurile vor fi distruse.38 Ci vinul nou trebuie să fie pus în burdufuri noi.39 Și nimeni nu vrea să bea vin nou după ce a băut vin vechi, pentru că zice: «Cel vechi este mai bunt!»“

LUKE 5

Jesus Chooses His First Disciples

(Matthew 4.18-22; Mark 1.16-20)

1  t Jesus was standing on the shore of Lake Gennesaret, t teaching the people as they crowded around him to hear God's message. 2 Near the shore he saw two boats left there by some fishermen who had gone to wash their nets.

3 Jesus got into the boat that belonged to Simon and asked him to row it out a little way from the shore. Then Jesus sat downt in the boat to teach the crowd.

4 When Jesus had finished speaking, he told Simon, “Row the boat out into the deep water and let your nets down to catch some fish.”
5  t “Master,” Simon answered, “we have worked hard all night long and have not caught a thing. But if you tell me to, I will let the nets down.” 6 t They did this and caught so many fish that their nets began ripping apart.

7 Then they signaled for their partners in the other boat to come and help them. The men came, and together they filled the two boats so full that they both began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw this happen, he knelt down in front of Jesus and said, “Lord, don't come near me! I am a sinner.” 9 Peter and everyone with him were completely surprised at all the fish they had caught.

10 His partners James and John, the sons of Zebedee, were surprised too.
Jesus told Simon, “Don't be afraid! From now on you will bring in people instead of fish.”

11 The men pulled their boats up on the shore. Then they left everything and went with Jesus.

Jesus Heals a Man

(Matthew 8.1-4; Mark 1.40-45)

12 Jesus came to a town where there was a man who had leprosy.t When the man saw Jesus, he knelt down to the ground in front of Jesus and begged, “Lord, you have the power to make me well, if only you wanted to.”
13 Jesus put his hand on him and said, “I want to! Now you are well.” At once the man's leprosy disappeared.

14 t Jesus told him, “Don't tell anyone about this, but go and show yourself to the priest. Offer a gift to the priest, just as Moses commanded, and everyone will know that you have been healed.”t
15 News about Jesus kept spreading. Large crowds came to listen to him teach and to be healed of their diseases.

16 But Jesus would often go to some place where he could be alone and pray.

Jesus Heals a Man //Who Could Not Walk

(Matthew 9.1-8; Mark 2.1-12)

17 One day some Pharisees and experts in the Law of Moses sat listening to Jesus teach. They had come from every village in Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem.
God had given Jesus the power to heal the sick, 18 and some people came carrying a man on a mat because he could not walk. They tried to take him inside the house and put him in front of Jesus.

19 But because of the crowd, they could not get him to Jesus. So they went up on the roof, t where they removed some tiles and let the mat down in the middle of the room.

20 When Jesus saw how much faith they had, he said to the man, “My friend, your sins are forgiven.”

21 The Pharisees and the experts began arguing, “Jesus must think he is God! Only God can forgive sins.”
22 Jesus knew what they were thinking, and he said, “Why are you thinking this? 23 Is it easier for me to tell this man that his sins are forgiven or to tell him to get up and walk?

24 But now you will see that the Son of Man has the right to forgive sins here on earth.” Jesus then said to the man, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk home.”
25 At once the man stood up in front of everyone. He picked up his mat and went home, giving thanks to God.

26 Everyone was amazed and praised God. What they saw surprised them, and they said, “We have seen a great miracle today!”

Jesus Chooses Levi

(Matthew 9.9-13; Mark 2.13-17)

28 Levi left everything and went with Jesus.

29 In his home Levi gave a big dinner for Jesus. Many tax collectors and other guests were also there.

30  t The Pharisees and some of their teachers of the Law of Moses grumbled to Jesus' disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with these tax collectors and other sinners?”
31 Jesus answered, “Healthy people don't need a doctor, but sick people do.

32 I didn't come to invite good people to turn to God. I came to invite sinners.”

33 Some people said to Jesus, “John's followers often pray and go without eating, t and so do the followers of the Pharisees. But your disciples never go without eating or drinking.”
34 Jesus told them, “The friends of a bridegroom don't go without eating while he is still with them.

35 But the time will come when he will be taken from them. Then they will go without eating.”

36 Jesus then told them these sayings:
No one uses a new piece of cloth to patch old clothes. The patch would shrink and make the hole even bigger.
37 No one pours new wine into old wineskins. The new wine would swell and burst the old skins.t Then the wine would be lost, and the skins would be ruined.

38 New wine must be put only into new wineskins.
39 No one wants new wine after drinking old wine. They say, “The old wine is better.”
