Lucas 5

Pedro, Santiago y Juan siguen a Jesús

1 Una vez Jesús estaba a la orilla del lago de Genesaret, y la gente lo apretujaba, tratando de escuchar la palabra de Dios.2 Jesús vio dos botes que estaban cerca a la orilla del lago. Los pescadores habían bajado de ellos para lavar sus redes.

3 Jesús subió al de Simónt y le pidió que lo alejara un poco de la orilla. Luego se sentó y le enseñó a la multitud desde el bote.

4 Cuando terminó de hablar le dijo a Simón:
—Lleva el bote a aguas profundas y lancen las redes para pescar.

5 Simón le respondió:
—Maestro, estuvimos trabajando toda la noche y no pescamos nada. Pero si tú lo dices, lanzaré las redes.
6 Así lo hicieron y atraparon tantos peces que las redes se rompían.

7 Entonces les hicieron señales a sus compañeros del otro bote para que los ayudaran. Ellos fueron y llenaron tanto los dos botes que casi se hundían.

8 Al ver esto Simón Pedro se arrodilló delante de Jesús y le dijo:
—¡Aléjate de mí, Señor, porque soy un pecador!
9 Es que él y todos sus compañeros se llenaron de asombro por la gran pesca que habían hecho.

10 Santiago y Juan, los hijos de Zebedeo y compañeros de Simón, también estaban asombrados. Entonces Jesús le dijo a Simón:
—No tengas miedo. De ahora en adelante vas a pescar gente.

11 Ellos trajeron sus botes a la orilla, dejaron todo y siguieron a Jesús.

Jesús sana a un enfermo

12 Un día, Jesús estaba en un pueblo donde había un hombre con leprat en todo el cuerpo. Cuando vio a Jesús se postró rostro en tierra delante de él y le rogó:
—Señor, si quieres, puedes quitarme esta enfermedad.

13 Entonces Jesús extendió la mano, lo tocó y dijo:
—Sí quiero. ¡Sana ya!
En ese mismo instante la lepra desapareció.

14 Jesús le ordenó:
—No se lo cuentes a nadie. Ve y preséntate ante el sacerdotet y da la ofrenda por haber sido sanado, como lo ordenó Moisés. Esto servirá para que la gente compruebe que has sido sanado.
15 Sin embargo, las noticias de Jesús se extendían cada vez más. Se le acercaban multitudes para oírlo y para que los sanara de sus enfermedades.

16 A menudo Jesús se retiraba a lugares donde podía estar solo para orar.

Jesús sana a un paralítico

17 Un día Jesús estaba enseñando, y unos fariseost y maestros de la ley estaban sentados allí. Habían venido de todos los pueblos de Galilea, Judea y de Jerusalén. El Señor le daba poder a Jesús para sanar a la gente.18 Entonces llegaron unos hombres que cargaban a un paralítico en una camilla. Querían entrar para ponerlo delante de Jesús,19 pero había tanta gente que no pudieron llegar hasta él. Así que subieron al techo, quitaron unas tejas y lo bajaron en la camilla hasta que quedó en medio de la gente, ante Jesús.

20 Cuando Jesús vio la fe que tenían, dijo:
—Amigo, tus pecados quedan perdonados.
21 Entonces los maestros de la ley y los fariseos se dijeron: «¿Quién es este hombre? Lo que dice es una ofensa a Dios. El único que puede perdonar pecados es Dios».

22 Pero Jesús sabía lo que estaban pensando, y les dijo:
—¿Qué están pensando?23 Tal vez piensen que es más fácil que yo le diga: "Tus pecados quedan perdonados", porque eso no se puede comprobar. Pero si le digo: "¡Levántate y anda!"

24 y así sucede, entonces quedará comprobado que el Hijo del hombret tiene en la tierra el poder de perdonar pecados.
Así que Jesús le dijo al paralítico:
—A ti te digo: ¡levántate, recoge tu camilla y vete a tu casa!
25 De inmediato el hombre se levantó delante de todos, recogió su camilla y se fue a su casa alabando a Dios.

26 Todos estaban asombrados y alababan a Dios. Estaban llenos de miedo y dijeron:
—¡Hoy hemos visto cosas increíbles!

Leví sigue a Jesús

27 Después de esto, Jesús salió y vio a un cobrador de impuestost llamado Leví, sentado en el lugar donde se pagaban los impuestos. Jesús le dijo:
—Sígueme.

28 Dejándolo todo, se levantó y lo siguió.
29 Luego Leví hizo una gran fiesta para Jesús en su casa. Muchos cobradores de impuestos y otros estaban comiendo con ellos.

30 Los fariseost y los maestros de la ley se quejaron con los seguidores de Jesús:
—¿Por qué beben y comen con cobradores de impuestos y pecadores?

31 Jesús les respondió:
—Los sanos no necesitan médico, los enfermos sí.

32 Yo no he venido a invitar a los buenos a que me sigan, sino a decirles a los pecadores que cambien su manera de pensar y de vivir.

Una pregunta sobre el ayuno

33 Le dijeron a Jesús:
—Los seguidores de Juan ayunan y oran con frecuencia al igual que los seguidores de los fariseost. En cambio, tus seguidores siempre están comiendo y bebiendo.

34 Jesús les contestó:
—Cuando hay una boda, no se puede exigir que los amigos del novio ayunen mientras él está con ellos.

35 Pero llegará el día en que se llevarán al novio y entonces en ese tiempo ayunarán.

36 También les contó una historiat:
—Nadie quita un retazo de un vestido nuevo para arreglar uno viejo, porque echa a perder el vestido nuevo, y el retazo nuevo no queda bien con el vestido viejo.37 Ni tampoco echa vino nuevo en cuerost viejos, porque el vino nuevo revienta los cueros, se derrama y se dañan los cueros.38 El vino nuevo se echa en cueros nuevos.

39 Después de tomar vino añejo, nadie quiere tomar vino nuevo, porque dice: "El vino añejo es bueno".

Luke 5

The First Disciples

1 Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around Him and listening to the word of God, He was standing by the lake of Gennesaret;2 and He saw two boats lying at the edge of the lake; but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets.3 And He got into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and asked him to put out a little way from the land. And He sat down and began teaching the people from the boat.4 When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch."5 Simon answered and said, "Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the nets."6 When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break;7 so they signaled to their partners in the other boat for them to come and help them. And they came and filled both of the boats, so that they began to sink.8 But when Simon Peter saw that, he fell down at Jesus' feet, saying, "Go away from me Lord, for I am a sinful man!"9 For amazement had seized him and all his companions because of the catch of fish which they had taken;10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men."11 When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.

The Leper and the Paralytic

12 While He was in one of the cities, behold, there was a man covered with leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean."13 And He stretched out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." And immediately the leprosy left him.14 And He ordered him to tell no one, "But go and show yourself to the priest and make an offering for your cleansing, just as Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."15 But the news about Him was spreading even farther, and large crowds were gathering to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses.16 But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.

17 One day He was teaching; and there were some Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting there, who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was present for Him to perform healing.18 And some men were carrying on a bed a man who was paralyzed; and they were trying to bring him in and to set him down in front of Him.19 But not finding any way to bring him in because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and let him down through the tiles with his stretcher, into the middle of the crowd, in front of Jesus.20 Seeing their faith, He said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven you."21 The scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, "Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?"22 But Jesus, aware of their reasonings, answered and said to them, "Why are you reasoning in your hearts?23 Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins have been forgiven you,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?24 But, so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins,"-He said to the paralytic-"I say to you, get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home."25 Immediately he got up before them, and picked up what he had been lying on, and went home glorifying God.26 They were all struck with astonishment and began glorifying God; and they were filled with fear, saying, "We have seen remarkable things today."

Call of Levi (Matthew)

27 After that He went out and noticed a tax collector named Levi sitting in the tax booth, and He said to him, "Follow Me."28 And he left everything behind, and got up and began to follow Him.

29 And Levi gave a big reception for Him in his house; and there was a great crowd of tax collectors and other people who were reclining at the table with them.30 The Pharisees and their scribes began grumbling at His disciples, saying, "Why do you eat and drink with the tax collectors and sinners?"31 And Jesus answered and said to them, "It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick.32 I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance."

33 And they said to Him, "The disciples of John often fast and offer prayers, the disciples of the Pharisees also do the same, but Yours eat and drink."34 And Jesus said to them, "You cannot make the attendants of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you?35 But the days will come; and when the bridegroom is taken away from them, then they will fast in those days."36 And He was also telling them a parable: "No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment; otherwise he will both tear the new, and the piece from the new will not match the old.37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled out, and the skins will be ruined.38 But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.39 And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, 'The old is good enough.'"
