Lukas 6
Jesus is die Here van die Sabbatdag
(Ook Matt 12:1-4,8; Mark 2:23-26,28)
1 Jesus en sy tdissipels het op ’n tSabbatdag deur ’n koringland geloop. Die dissipels het van die tkoring-are gepluk en hulle het die korrels met hulle hande uitgevryf en dit geëet.
2 Toe vra party van die tFariseërs: “Hoekom doen julle iets wat ’n mens nie op die Sabbatdag mag doen nie?”
3 Jesus het vir hulle gesê: “Het julle gelees wat Dawid gedoen het toe hy en sy manne honger was?
4 Dawid het in ’n ttempel ingegaan en hy het die brood geneem wat net die tpriesters mag eet. Dawid het dit geëet en hy het ook vir sy manne daarvan gegee.”
5 Jesus sê toe vir hulle: “Ek, die tSeun van die mens, is die Here wat besluit wat op die Sabbatdag mag gebeur.”Die man met ’n gebreklike hand

6 Op ’n ander tSabbatdag het Jesus na die tsinagoge gegaan en Hy het vir die mense geleer. Daar was ’n man, sy regter-hand was gebreklik. 7 Die tskrifgeleerdes en die tFariseërs het Jesus dopgehou om te kyk of Hy die man op die Sabbatdag gesond sal maak. As Jesus dit doen, dan wou hulle Hom beskuldig dat Hy verkeerd gedoen het.
8 Maar Jesus het geweet wat hulle dink. Hy sê toe vir die man met die gebreklike hand: “Kom staan hier tussen die mense sodat almal jou kan sien.”
Die man het gedoen wat Jesus gesê het.
9 Jesus sê toe vir die skrifgeleerdes en die Fariseërs: “Sê vir My, mag ’n mens op die Sabbatdag goed doen of verkeerd doen? Mag ’n mens iemand se lewe red, of mag ’n mens hom doodmaak?”
10 Jesus het na al die mense rondom Hom gekyk en Hy het vir die man gesê: “Steek jou hand uit.”
Die man het dit gedoen, en toe was sy hand gesond.
11 Die skrifgeleerdes en Fariseërs het baie kwaad geword, hulle was woedend. Hulle het planne gemaak en gedink wat hulle met Jesus kan doen.Jesus kies twaalf apostels

12 Nie lank daarna nie het Jesus na die berg gegaan om daar te bid. Hy het die hele nag tot God gebid. 13 Toe dit dag word, het Hy sy tdissipels na Hom toe geroep. Hy het twaalf van hulle gekies en Hy het hulle tapostels genoem. 14 Hulle name was: Simon, sy ander naam was Petrus, en ook sy broer Andreas, Jakobus, Johannes, Filippus, Bartolomeus, 15 Matteus, Tomas, Jakobus seun van Alfeus, Simon die tpatriot,
16 Judas seun van Jakobus, en Judas Iskariot wat later vir Jesus tverraai het.Jesus maak mense gesond

17 Daarna het Jesus saam met die tapostels van die berg afgegaan en op ’n gelyk plek gaan staan. Daar was baie van sy tdissipels en baie ander mense wat gekom het uit die hele provinsie Judea, en van Jerusalem en van die stede Tirus en Sidon by die see. 18 Hulle het almal na Jesus kom luister en hulle wou hê Hy moet hulle gesond maak. Daar was tonrein geeste in party mense, en Jesus het daardie mense ook gesond gemaak.
19 Almal wou graag aan Jesus raak, want daar het krag uit Hom gekom en die krag het almal gesond gemaak.Die gelukkige mense en die mense met wie dit sleg sal gaan

20 Jesus kyk toe na sy tdissipels en Hy sê vir hulle:
Julle wat arm is, is gelukkige mense,
want God is julle Koning.
21 Julle wat nou honger is,
is gelukkige mense,
want God sal vir julle
genoeg gee om te eet.
Julle wat nou huil,
is gelukkige mense,
want julle sal lag.
22 Julle is gelukkige mense
wanneer die mense julle haat
en wegjaag
en tbeledig en slegte dinge
van julle sê
omdat julle aan My behoort,
aan My, die tSeun van die mens.
23 Julle moet bly wees
wanneer dit gebeur,
so bly dat julle rondspring,
want in die hemel sal God
baie goed wees vir julle.
Kan julle onthou wat gebeur het
met die tprofete?
Die tvoorouers van die mense
wat vir julle nou haat,
het die profete lank gelede
ook so gehaat.
24 Maar God sal dit sleg laat gaan
met julle wat ryk is,
want dit het in hierdie lewe
goed gegaan met julle.
25 God sal dit sleg laat gaan
met julle wat nou baie kos het,
want julle sal eendag honger wees.
God sal dit sleg laat gaan
met julle wat nou lag,
want julle sal eendag huil en treur.
26 God sal dit sleg laat gaan met julle
wanneer al die mense net
mooi dinge van julle sê,
want hulle voorouers het lank gelede
ook net mooi dinge
van die tvals profete gesê.Die dissipels moet vir hulle vyande lief wees

27 “Ek sê vir julle wat nou na My luister: Julle moet lief wees vir julle vyande. Julle moet goed wees vir die mense wat vir julle haat.
28 Julle moet die mense tseën wat vir julle vloek. Julle moet bid vir die mense wat vir julle tbeledig.
29 “As iemand jou op jou wang slaan, dan moet jy jou gesig draai sodat hy jou ook op jou ander wang kan slaan. As iemand jou tbo-kleed vat, dan moet jy ook jou tonderkleed vir hom gee.
30 “Jy moet vir elkeen gee wat vir jou iets vra. En as iemand jou goed vat, dan moet jy dit nie terugvra nie.
31 “Julle moet aan ander mense doen soos julle graag wil hê hulle moet aan julle doen.
32 As julle net lief is vir die mense wat lief is vir júlle, dan doen julle net wat julle moet doen, julle doen niks beter nie. Want die tsondaars is ook lief net vir die mense wat lief is vir húlle.
33 “As julle goed doen net aan die mense wat goed doen aan julle, dan doen julle net wat julle moet doen, julle doen niks beter nie. Die sondaars doen dieselfde.
34 “As julle net vir mense iets leen sodat julle later weer iets by hulle kan kry, dan doen julle net wat julle moet doen, julle doen niks beter nie. Die sondaars leen ook vir mekaar sodat hulle weer iets kan terugkry.
35 “Nee, julle moet anders wees. Julle moet lief wees vir julle vyande. Julle moet goed wees vir mense, julle moet vir hulle dinge leen, maar julle moenie hoop om iets terug te kry nie. Dan sal die Here goeie dinge vir julle gee. Julle sal kinders van die tHoogste God wees. Want God is goed vir almal, ook vir die mense wat nie dankbaar is nie en wat sleg is.
36 Julle moet jammer wees vir ander mense, soos julle Vader jammer is vir almal.”Mense moenie altyd sê ander mense doen verkeerd nie

37 “Julle moenie altyd sê ander mense doen verkeerd en God moet hulle straf nie. As julle dit nie doen nie, dan sal God júlle ook nie straf nie. Ja, julle moenie altyd ander mense wil toordeel nie, dan sal niemand vir julle wil oordeel nie. Julle moet ander mense vergewe, dan sal God julle ook vergewe.
38 “Dit moet vir julle maklik wees om vir ander mense iets te gee, want dan sal hulle vir julle ook iets gee. Ja, hulle sal vir julle baie meer gee, want wat julle aan ander mense doen, sal hulle aan julle doen.”
39 Jesus het die volgende tvoorbeelde gebruik om vir hulle nog iets te sê: “’n Blinde mens kan nie ’n ander blinde mens lei nie. Want hulle sal saam in ’n sloot val.
40 “’n tDissipel is nie belangriker as die meneer by wie hy leer nie. Maar as hy alles geleer het, dan sal hy wees soos sy meneer. 41 Hoekom sien jy die klein stukkie hout in jou broer se oog, maar jy sien nie die groot stuk hout in jou eie oog nie?
42 Jy sê vir jou broer: ‘Ek wil daardie stukkie hout uithaal uit jou oog,’ maar jy sien nie die groot stuk hout in jou eie oog nie. As jy dit doen, dan is jy ’n tskynheilige mens. Nee, jy moet eers die groot stuk hout uit jou eie oog haal, dan sal jy goed kan sien om die klein stukkie hout uit jou broer se oog te haal.
“’n Mens ken ’n boom wanneer jy sien watter vrugte die boom dra. 43 ’n Goeie boom dra nie slegte vrugte nie, en ’n slegte boom dra nie goeie vrugte nie. 44 Hoe weet ’n mens watter soort boom dit is? Jy kyk na die boom se vrugte. ’n Mens pluk nie vye van ’n doringboom nie. Jy kan ook nie druiwe van ’n doringbos pluk nie.
45 Dit is dieselfde by mense: ’n Goeie mens praat en doen goeie dinge omdat hy in sy hart goed is. En ’n slegte mens praat en doen slegte dinge omdat hy in sy hart sleg is. Ja, ’n mens praat oor die baie dinge wat in sy hart is.”Twee soorte fondamente

46 “Hoekom sê julle so baie maal Ek is julle Here, maar julle doen nie wat Ek sê nie? 47 Ek sal vir julle verduidelik hoe is iemand wat na My toe kom en hoor wat Ek sê en wat dit doen. 48 Hy is soos ’n man wat ’n huis gebou het, en hy het die tfondament van die huis diep in die grond gegrawe, tot op die rots. Toe kom daar ’n twatervloed. Die rivier het vol water geword en die water het tot teen die huis gekom. Maar die rivier kon nie die huis wegspoel nie, want die man het die fondament goed gebou. 49 Maar hoe is iemand wat hoor wat Ek sê en dit nie doen nie? Hy is soos ’n man wat sy huis bo-op die grond gebou het. Die huis het nie ’n fondament gehad nie. Toe die rivier vol water word en tot teen die huis kom, het die huis dadelik inmekaar geval. Daar het niks van die huis oorgebly nie.”
Luke 6
Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath Day
1 One Sabbath day Jesus was walking through the grainfields. His disciples began to break off some heads of grain. They rubbed them in their hands and ate them.
2 Some of the Pharisees said, "It is against the Law to do this on the Sabbath. Why are you doing it?"
3 Jesus answered them, "Haven't you ever read about what David did? He and his men were hungry.4 He entered the house of God and took the holy bread. He ate the bread that only priests were allowed to eat. David also gave some to his men."
5 Then Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath day."
6 On another Sabbath day, Jesus went into the synagogue and was teaching. A man whose right hand was weak and twisted was there.7 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law were trying to find fault with Jesus. So they watched him closely. They wanted to see if he would heal on the Sabbath.
8 But Jesus knew what they were thinking. He spoke to the man who had the weak and twisted hand. "Get up and stand in front of everyone," he said. So the man got up and stood there.
9 Then Jesus said to them, "What does the Law say we should do on the Sabbath day? Should we do good? Or should we do evil? Should we save life? Or should we destroy it?"
10 He looked around at all of them.
Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand."
He did, and his hand was as good as new.
11 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were very angry. They began to talk to each other about what they might do to Jesus.
Jesus Chooses the Twelve Apostles
12 On one of those days, Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray. He spent the night praying to God.13 When morning came, he called for his disciples to come to him. He chose 12 of them and made them apostles.
14 Simon was one of them. Jesus gave him the name Peter. There were also Simon's brother Andrew, James, John, Philip and Bartholomew.15 And there were Matthew, Thomas, and James, son of Alphaeus. There were also Simon who was called the Zealot16 and Judas, son of James. Judas Iscariot was one of them too. He was the one who would later hand Jesus over to his enemies.
Jesus Gives Blessings and Warnings
17 Jesus went down the mountain with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples was there. A large number of other people were there too. They came from all over Judea, including Jerusalem. They also came from the coast of Tyre and Sidon.
18 They had all come to hear Jesus and to be healed of their sicknesses. People who were troubled by evil spirits were made well.19 Everyone tried to touch Jesus. Power was coming from him and healing them all.
20 Jesus looked at his disciples. He said to them,
"Blessed are you who are needy.
God's kingdom belongs to you.
21 Blessed are you who are hungry now.
You will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who are sad now.
You will laugh.
22 Blessed are you when people hate you,
when they have nothing to do with you
and say bad things about you,
and when they treat your name as something evil.
They do all this because you are followers of the Son of Man.
23 "Their people treated the prophets the same way long ago. When these things happen to you, be glad and jump for joy. You will receive many blessings in heaven.
24 "But how terrible it will be for you who are rich!
You have already had your easy life.
25 How terrible for you who are well fed now!
You will go hungry.
How terrible for you who laugh now!
You will cry and be sad.
26 How terrible for you when everyone says good things about you!
Their people treated the false prophets the same way long ago.
Love Your Enemies
27 "But here is what I tell you who hear me. Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you.28 Bless those who call down curses on you. And pray for those who treat you badly.
29 "Suppose someone hits you on one cheek. Turn your other cheek to him also. Suppose someone takes your coat. Don't stop him from taking your shirt.
30 "Give to everyone who asks you. And if anyone takes what belongs to you, don't ask to get it back.31 Do to others as you want them to do to you.
32 "Suppose you love those who love you. Should anyone praise you for that? Even 'sinners' love those who love them.33 And suppose you do good to those who are good to you. Should anyone praise you for that? Even 'sinners' do that.34 And suppose you lend money to those who can pay you back. Should anyone praise you for that? Even a 'sinner' lends to 'sinners,' expecting them to pay everything back.
35 "But love your enemies. Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then you will receive a lot in return. And you will be sons of the Most High God. He is kind to people who are evil and are not thankful.36 So have mercy, just as your Father has mercy.
Be Fair When You Judge Others
37 "If you do not judge others, then you will not be judged. If you do not find others guilty, then you will not be found guilty. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good amount will be poured into your lap. It will be pressed down, shaken together, and running over. The same amount you give will be measured out to you."
39 Jesus also gave them another example. He asked, "Can a blind person lead another blind person? Won't they both fall into a pit?40 Students are not better than their teachers. But everyone who is completely trained will be like his teacher.
41 "You look at the bit of sawdust in your friend's eye. But you pay no attention to the piece of wood in your own eye.42 How can you say to your friend, 'Let me take the bit of sawdust out of your eye'? How can you say this while there is a piece of wood in your own eye? You pretender! First take the piece of wood out of your own eye. Then you will be able to see clearly to take the bit of sawdust out of your friend's eye.
A Tree and Its Fruit
43 "A good tree doesn't bear bad fruit. And a bad tree doesn't bear good fruit.44 You can tell each tree by the kind of fruit it bears. People do not pick figs from thorns. And they don't pick grapes from bushes.
45 "A good man says good things. These come from the good that is put away in his heart. An evil man says evil things. These come from the evil that is put away in his heart. Their mouths say everything that is in their hearts.
The Wise and Foolish Builders
46 "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and still don't do what I say?47 Some people come to me and listen to me and do what I say. I will show you what they are like.48 They are like someone who builds a house. He digs down deep and sets it on solid rock. When a flood comes, the river rushes against the house. But the water can't shake it. The house is well built.
49 "But here is what happens when people listen to my words and do not obey them. They are like someone who builds a house on soft ground instead of solid rock. The moment the river rushes against that house, it falls down. It is completely destroyed."
