Jesus efterföljare plockar ax på vilodagen

1 En vilodagt, när Jesus och hans efterföljare gick genom några sädesfält, ryckte hans efterföljare av ax, som de gnuggade mellan händerna för att kunna äta.

2 Men några av fariseernat sa: "Varför gör ni så där? Det är ju förbjudet i Moses lagt att skörda på vilodagen."
3 Då svarade Jesus dem: "Har ni aldrig läst vad kung David gjorde när han och hans män blev hungriga?t4 Han gick in i Guds hus och åt av det speciella bröd som bara prästerna får äta och delade sedan med sig till de andra. Det var också ett brott mot lagen."

5 Sedan sa Jesus till fariseerna: "Jag, Människosonent, har rätt att avgöra vad som är tillåtet på vilodagen."

Jesus botar en man på vilodagen

6 En annan vilodagt undervisade han i synagogant, och då satt där en man med en vanställd högerhand.

7 Laglärarnat och fariseernat höll noga ögonen på Jesus. Skulle han våga bota mannens hand på vilodagen? I så fall skulle de få något att anklaga honom för.

8 Men Jesus förstod precis vad de tänkte. Därför sa han till mannen med den vanställda handen: "Res dig upp och kom hit där alla kan se dig." Och mannen gjorde som Jesus sa till honom.
9 Sedan vände Jesus sig till fariseerna och laglärarna och sa: "Låt mig få fråga er en sak: Vad är tillåtet att göra på vilodagen enligt Moses lagt? Får man göra gott eller får man göra ont? Får man rädda liv eller får man döda någon?"10 Han såg på dem en efter en och sa sedan till mannen: "Räck fram din hand." Och när mannen gjorde det, blev handen normal igen!

11 Men Jesus fiender blev rasande och började prata med varandra om hur de skulle kunna röja honom ur vägen.

Jesus utser sina tolv närmaste efterföljare

12 Några dagar senare gick Jesus upp på ett berg för att be, och han bad hela natten.13 När det ljusnade kallade han sedan samman sina efterföljare och utsåg tolv av dem till att bli hans speciella sändebudt.14 Det var: Simon, som han gav namnet Petrus, Simons bror Andreas, Jakob, Johannes, Filippos, Bartolomaios,15 Matteus, Tomas, Alfaios son Jakob, Simon, som kallades 'den ivrige't,

16 Jakobs son Judasoch Judas Iskariot, han som senare förrådde Jesus.

Mycket folk följer Jesus

17 När Jesus hade kommit ner från berget tillsammans med sina tolv närmaste efterföljare, stannade de på en stor slätt. Där hade många av hans efterföljare samlats, och en stor folkmassa från hela Judeen och Jerusalem och från kustområdet vid Tyros och Sidont18 hade kommit för att höra honom och bli botade från sina sjukdomar. Jesus drev ut många onda andar,19 och alla försökte röra vid honom, eftersom det gick ut kraft från honom som gjorde alla friska.
Verklig lycka20 Sedan vände han sig till sina efterföljare och sa:
"Lyckliga är ni som inser att ni är fattigat,
för ni får vara Guds eget folkt!21 Lyckliga är ni som nu hungrart,
för ni ska bli mättade.
Lyckliga är ni som nu gråter,
för ni ska få skratta.22 Ja, ni är lyckliga när man hatar er och tar avstånd från er och hånar er och talar illa om er därför att ni är efterföljare till mig, Människosonent.

23 Gläd er när det händer! Ja, dansa av glädje, för Gud ska belöna er. Kom ihåg att profeterna som förr i tiden framförde Guds budskapt blev lika illa behandlade av era förfäder.
24 Men olycka ska drabba er som är rika,
för ni har redan fått ut er glädje.25 Olycka ska drabba er som nu är mätta,
ni ska få gå hungriga.
Olycka ska drabba er som nu skrattar,
ni ska få sörja och gråta.

26 Ja, olycka ska drabba er som man nu talar väl om. Kom ihåg att de profeter som förr i tiden framförde falska budskap om Gud blev lika väl behandlade av era förfäder.

Om att älska sina fiender

27 Men till er som vill lyssna säger jag: Älska era fiender. Gör gott mot dem som hatar er.

28 Be att Gud ska ge allt gott till dem som förbannar er, och be att han ska hjälpa dem som hånar er.
29 Slår någon dig på ena kinden, så vänd också fram den andra! Vill någon ta ditt ytterplagg, så låt honom få skjortan också.30 Ge till alla som ber dig, och om någon tar det som är ditt, så kräv det inte tillbaka.

31 Behandla andra så som ni vill att de ska behandla er.
32 Om ni bara älskar dem som älskar er, är ni då värda särskilt beröm? Även onda människor älskar ju dem som ger kärlek tillbaka.33 Och om ni gör gott mot dem som gör gott mot er, är det något så märkvärdigt med det? Det gör ju de onda människorna också!

34 Om ni lånar ut pengar till dem som kan betala tillbaka, är det något man bör tacka er för? Även onda människor lånar ju till sina vänner om de får igen pengarna.

35 Nej, älska era fiender och gör gott mot dem, och låna ut era pengar utan att oroa er för om ni får dem tillbaka. Då ska Gud belöna er, och ni handlar som äkta Guds barn, för han är själv god mot dem som är otacksamma och onda.

36 Visa samma medlidande med människor som er Far i himlen gör, han som har medlidande med alla.

Om att döma andra

37 Döm inte andra, så ska ni själva inte bli dömda. Förklara ingen skyldig, så ska Gud inte förklara er skyldiga. Var beredda att förlåta, så ska ni få förlåtelse.

38 Om ni ger, kommer ni att få. Ja, ni kommer att få tillbaka mer än ni gav, i ett rågat mått, väl packat och skakat så att mycket får plats. För det mått ni använder då ni ger till andra, det kommer Gud att använda när han ger till er."
39 Sedan förklarade Jesus detta genom att berätta två bilder. Han sa: "Vad är det för mening med att en blind leder en annan blind? Båda kommer ju att falla i samma grop.

40 Och en efterföljare står inte över sin mästare, men när han har lärt sig allt, kan han bli lika duktig som sin mästare.
41 Varför hänger du upp dig på din medmänniskas små svagheter, när du inte erkänner din egen skuld som är mycket större?

42 Varför säger du till henne: 'Kom hit så ska jag öppna ögonen på dig så att du ser dina fel', när du samtidigt är blind för din egen synd? Du falska människa som bara låtsas lyda Gud! Rätta först till dina egna fel! Sedan kan du se klart och försöka hjälpa din medmänniska.

Av frukten känner man trädet

43 Ett bra träd kan aldrig bära dålig frukt, och ett dåligt träd kan aldrig bära bra frukt.44 Trädet känns igen på den frukt det bär. Man hittar inte fikon på tistlar eller vindruvor på törnbuskar.

45 På samma sätt visar en god människas ord på den godhet som finns i hennes hjärta, medan en ond människas ord avslöjar den ondska som finns inom henne. Munnen talar ju vad hjärtat är fullt av.

Om att bygga på stadig grund

46 Varför kallar ni mig 'Herre', när ni ändå inte lyder mig?47 Den som kommer till mig och hör min undervisning och handlar efter den ‑ vem han liknar det ska jag berätta för er.

48 Han liknar en man som bygger ett hus och gräver så djupt att han kan lägga grunden på ett fast berg. När floden sedan svämmar över och vattnet vräker sig mot huset, står det kvar, eftersom det är byggt på säker grund.

49 Men den som hör och inte handlar, han liknar en man som bygger ett hus direkt på marken utan att gräva någon grund. Och när floden vräker sig mot huset, faller det genast ihop med ett stort brak."

Luke 6

Lord of the Sabbath

1 Jesust was going through the grain fields ont a Sabbath,s and his disciples picked some heads of wheat,t rubbed them in their hands, and ate them.t2 But some of the Phariseess said, “Why are yout doing what is against the laws on the Sabbath?”3 Jesust answered them,t “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –4 how he entered the house of God, tookt and ate the sacred bread,ts which is not lawfuls for any to eat but the priests alone, ands gave it to his companions?”ss

5 Thent he said to them, “The Son of Man is lordts of the Sabbath.”

Healing a Withered Hand

6 Ont another Sabbath, Jesust entered the synagogues and was teaching. Nowt a man was there whose right hand was withered.ts7 The experts in the lawt and the Phariseess watcheds Jesust closely to see ift he would heal on the Sabbath,s so that they could find a reason to accuse him.8 Butt he knews their thoughts,t and said to the man who had the withered hand, “Get up and stand here.”s Sot he rose and stood there.9 Thent Jesus said to them, “I ask you,s is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save a life or to destroy it?”10 Aftert looking aroundt at them all, he said to the man,t “Stretch out your hand.” The mant did so, and his hand was restored.s

11 But they were filled with mindless raget and began debating with one another what they would dot to Jesus.

Choosing the Twelve Apostles

12 Nowt it was during this time that Jesust went out to the mountaints to pray, and he spent all nights in prayer to God.t13 Whent morning came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles:s14 Simons (whom he named Peter), and his brother Andrew; and James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,s15 Matthew, Thomas,s James the son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot,s

16 Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot,s who became a traitor.

The Sermon on the Plain

17 Thent he came down with them and stood on a level place.t And a large numbert of his disciples had gatheredtt along witht a vast multitude from all over Judea, fromt Jerusalem,s and from the seacoast of Tyres and Sidon.ss They came to hear him and to be healeds of their diseases,18 and those who suffered fromt uncleans spirits were cured.

19 Thet whole crowd was trying to touch him, because powers was coming out from him and healing them all.

20 Thent he looked upt at his disciples and said:
“Blesseds are you who are poor,s for the kingdom of God belongss to you.

21 “Blessed are you who hungers now, for you will be satisfied.s
“Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.s
22 “Blessed are you when peoplet hate you, and when they exclude you and insult you and reject you as evilts on account of the Son of Man!

23 Rejoice in that day, and jump for joy, becauset your reward is great in heaven. For their ancestorst did the same things to the prophets.s

24 “But woes to you who are rich, for you have receiveds your comfortt already.

25 “Woe to you who are well satisfied with foodt now, for you will be hungry.
“Woe to yous who laughs now, for you will mourn and weep.

26 “Woe to yous when all peoplet speak well of you, for their ancestorst did the same things to the false prophets.
27 “But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies,s do good to those who hate you,28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreatt you.29 To the person who strikes you on the cheek,s offer the other as well,s and from the person who takes away your coat,t do not withhold your tunict either.s30 Give to everyone who asks you,s and do not ask for your possessionst backs from the person who takes them away.

31 Treat otherst in the same way that you would want them to treat you.s
32 “Ift you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinnerss love those who love them.s33 Ands if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Evens sinnerss do the same.34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to be repaid,t what credit is that to you? Even sinnerss lend to sinners, so that they may be repaid in full.t35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back.t Thent your reward will be great, and you will be sonss of the Most High,s because he is kind to ungrateful and evil people.t

36 Be merciful,s just as your Father is merciful.

Do Not Judge Others

37 “Dot not judge,s and you will not be judged;s do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive,s and you will be forgiven.

38 Give, and it will be given to you: A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over,s will be pouredt into your lap. For the measure you use will be the measure you receive.”t
39 He also told them a parable: “Someone who is blind cannot lead another who is blind, can he?t Won’t they both falls into a pit?40 A disciplet is not greater thant his teacher, but everyone when fully trained will be like his teacher.41 Whyt do you see the specks in your brother’s eye, but fail to seet the beam of woods in your own?

42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck from your eye,’ while you yourself don’t see the beam in your own? You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
43 “Fort no good tree bears badt fruit, nor agains does a bad tree bear good fruit,44 for each tree is knowns by its own fruit. For figs are not gatheredt from thorns, nor are grapes pickedt from brambles.ts

45 The good person out of the good treasury of hist hearts produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasuryt produces evil, for his mouth speakss from what fillst his heart.

46 “Whyt do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’t and don’t do what I tell you?s
47 “Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and puts them into practicet – I will show you what he is like:48 He is like a mant building a house, who dug down deep,t and laid the foundation on bedrock. Whent a flood came, the rivers burst against that house butt could not shake it, because it had been well built.s

49 But the person who hears and does not put my words into practicet is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. Whent the river burst against that house,t it collapsed immediately, and was utterly destroyed!”ts
