Swali kuhusu Sabato
1 t tIkawa siku ya sabato moja alikuwa akipita katika mashamba, wanafunzi wake wakawa wakivunja masuke na kuyala, wakiyapukusa-pukusa mikononi mwao. 2 tBasi baadhi ya Mafarisayo wakawaambia, Mbona mnafanya lisilo halali siku ya sabato? 3 tYesu akawajibu akawaambia, Hamkulisoma hata hilo alilolifanya Daudi, alipokuwa na njaa, yeye na wale aliokuwa nao? 4 tJinsi alivyoingia katika nyumba ya Mungu, akaitwaa mikate ile ya Wonyesho, akaila akawapa na hao wenziwe, ambayo si halali kuila ila kwa makuhani peke yao.
5 Akawaambia, Mwana wa Adamu ndiye Bwana wa sabato.Mtu mwenye Mkono Uliopooza
6 tIkawa siku ya sabato nyingine aliingia katika sinagogi akafundisha; na mlikuwamo mtu ambaye mkono wake wa kuume umepooza. 7 tNa waandishi na Mafarisayo walikuwa wakimvizia, ili waone kwamba ataponya siku ya sabato; kusudi wapate neno la kumshitakia. 8 Lakini yeye akayatambua mawazo yao, akamwambia yule mwenye mkono uliopooza, Ondoka, simama katikati; akaondoka akasimama. 9 Ndipo Yesu akawaambia, Nawauliza ninyi, Je! Ni halali siku ya sabato kutenda mema, au kutenda mabaya; kuponya roho au kuangamiza? 10 Akawakazia macho wote pande zote, akamwambia yule mtu, Nyosha mkono wako. Akaunyosha; mkono wake ukawa mzima tena.

12 tIkawa siku zile aliondoka akaenda mlimani ili kuomba, akakesha usiku kucha katika kumwomba Mungu. 13 tHata kulipokuwa mchana aliwaita wanafunzi wake; akachagua kumi na wawili miongoni mwao, ambao aliwaita Mitume; 14 Simoni, aliyemwita jina la pili Petro, na Andrea nduguye, na Yakobo na Yohana, na Filipo na Bartolomayo, 15 na Mathayo na Tomaso, na Yakobo wa Alfayo, na Simoni aitwaye Zelote,
16 na Yuda wa Yakobo, na Yuda Iskariote, ndiye aliyekuwa msaliti.Yesu Afundisha na Kuponya
17 tAkashuka pamoja nao, akasimama mahali tambarare, pamoja na wanafunzi wake wengi, na makutano makubwa ya watu waliotoka Uyahudi wote na Yerusalemu, na pwani ya Tiro na Sidoni; waliokuja kumsikiliza na kuponywa magonjwa yao; 18 na wale waliosumbuliwa na pepo wachafu; waliponywa.
19 Na makutano yote walikuwa wakitaka kumgusa, kwa sababu uweza ulikuwa ukimtoka ukiwaponya wote.Baraka na Masikitiko
20 tAkainua macho yake akawatazama wanafunzi wake, akasema, Heri ninyi mlio maskini, kwa sababu ufalme wa Mungu ni wenu. 21 tHeri ninyi mlio na njaa sasa, kwa sababu mtashiba. Heri ninyi mliao sasa, kwa sababu mtacheka. 22 tHeri ninyi watu watakapowachukia, na kuwatenga, na kuwashutumu, na kulitupa nje jina lenu kama neno ovu, kwa ajili ya Mwana wa Adamu. 23 tFurahiwani siku ile na kuruka-ruka, kwa kuwa, tazama, thawabu yenu ni kubwa mbinguni, maana, baba zao waliwatenda manabii vivyo hivyo. 24 tLakini, ole wenu ninyi mlio na mali, kwa kuwa faraja yenu mmekwisha kuipata. 25 tOle wenu ninyi ambao mmeshiba sasa, kwa kuwa mtaona njaa. Ole wenu ninyi mnaocheka sasa, kwa kuwa mtaomboleza na kulia.
26 tOle wenu ninyi watu wote watakapowasifu, kwa kuwa baba zao waliwatenda manabii wa uongo mambo kama hayo.Upendo kwa Adui
27 tLakini nawaambia ninyi mnaosikia, Wapendeni adui zenu, watendeeni mema wale ambao wawachukia ninyi, 28 wabarikieni wale ambao wawalaani ninyi, waombeeni wale ambao wawaonea ninyi. 29 Akupigaye shavu moja, mgeuzie la pili, naye akunyang’anyaye joho yako, usimzuilie na kanzu. 30 Mpe kila akuombaye, na akunyang’anyaye vitu vyako, usitake akurudishie. 31 tNa kama mnavyotaka watu wawatendee ninyi, watendeeni vivyo hivyo. 32 Maana mkiwapenda wale wawapendao ninyi, mwaonyesha fadhili gani? Kwa kuwa hata wenye dhambi huwapenda wale wawapendao. 33 Nanyi mkiwatendea mema wale wawatendeao mema, mwaonyesha fadhili gani? Hata wenye dhambi hufanya vivyo hivyo. 34 tNa mkiwakopesha watu huku mkitumaini kupata kitu kwao, mwaonyesha fadhili gani? Hata wenye dhambi huwakopesha wenye dhambi, ili warudishiwe vile vile. 35 Bali wapendeni adui zenu, tendeni mema, na kukopesha msitumaini kupata malipo, na thawabu yenu itakuwa nyingi; nanyi mtakuwa wana wa Aliye juu, kwa kuwa yeye ni mwema kwa wasiomshukuru, na waovu.
36 Basi, iweni na huruma, kama Baba yenu alivyo na huruma.Kuwahukumu Wengine
37 t tMsihukumu, nanyi hamtahukumiwa; msilaumu, nanyi hamtalaumiwa; achilieni, nanyi mtaachiliwa.
38 tWapeni watu vitu, nanyi mtapewa; kipimo cha kujaa na kushindiliwa, na kusukwa-sukwa hata kumwagika, ndicho watu watakachowapa vifuani mwenu. Kwa kuwa kipimo kile kile mpimacho ndicho mtakachopimiwa.
39 tAkawaambia mithali, Je! Aliye kipofu aweza kuongoza kipofu? Hawatatumbukia shimoni wote wawili? 40 tMwanafunzi hawi mkuu kuliko mwalimu wake, lakini kila mtu ambaye amehitimu hulingana na mwalimu wake. 41 Basi, mbona wakitazama kibanzi kilicho ndani ya jicho la ndugu yako, na boriti iliyo ndani ya jicho lako mwenyewe huiangalii?
42 Au, utawezaje kumwambia ndugu yako, Ndugu yangu, niache nikitoe kibanzi kilicho ndani ya jicho lako, nawe huiangalii boriti iliyo ndani ya jicho lako mwenyewe? Mnafiki wewe, itoe kwanza ile boriti katika jicho lako mwenyewe, ndipo utakapoona vema kukitoa kile kibanzi kilichomo katika jicho la ndugu yako.Mti na Matunda yake
43 Kwa maana hakuna mti mzuri uzaao matunda mabaya, wala mti mbaya uzaao matunda mazuri; 44 tkwa kuwa kila mti hutambulikana kwa matunda yake; maana, katika miiba hawachumi tini, wala katika michongoma hawachumi zabibu.
45 tMtu mwema katika hazina njema ya moyo wake hutoa yaliyo mema, na mtu mwovu katika hazina mbovu ya moyo wake hutoa yaliyo maovu; kwa kuwa mtu, kinywa chake hunena yale yaujazayo moyo wake.Misingi Miwili
46 tNa kwa nini mnaniita, Bwana, Bwana, walakini hamyatendi nisemayo? 47 Kila mtu ajaye kwangu, na kuyasikia maneno yangu na kuyatenda, nitawaonyesha mfano wake. 48 Mfano wake ni mtu ajengaye nyumba, na kuchimba chini sana, na kuweka msingi juu ya mwamba; na kulipokuja gharika, mto uliishukia nyumba ile kwa nguvu, usiweze kuitikisa; kwa kuwa imejengwa vizuri. 49 Lakini yule aliyesikia ila hakutenda, mfano wake ni mtu aliyejenga nyumba juu ya ardhi pasipokuwa na msingi, mto ukaishukia kwa nguvu, ikaanguka mara; na maangamizi yake nyumba ile yakawa makubwa.

A Question about the Sabbath
(Matthew 12.1-8; Mark 2.23-28)
1 t One Sabbath when Jesus and his disciples were walking through some wheat fields, t the disciples picked some wheat. They rubbed the husks off with their hands and started eating the grain.
2 Some Pharisees said, “Why are you picking grain on the Sabbath? You're not supposed to do that!”
3 t Jesus answered, “You surely have read what David did when he and his followers were hungry.
4 t He went into the house of God and took the sacred loaves of bread that only priests were supposed to eat. He not only ate some himself, but even gave some to his followers.”
5 Jesus finished by saying, “The Son of Man is Lord over the Sabbath.”A Man with a Paralyzed Hand
(Matthew 12.9-14; Mark 3.1-6)
6 On another Sabbatht Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, and a man with a paralyzed right hand was there.
7 Some Pharisees and teachers of the Law of Moses kept watching Jesus to see if he would heal the man. They did this because they wanted to accuse Jesus of doing something wrong.
8 Jesus knew what they were thinking, so he told the man to stand up where everyone could see him. And the man stood up.
9 Then Jesus asked, “On the Sabbath should we do good deeds or evil deeds? Should we save someone's life or destroy it?”
10 After he had looked around at everyone, he told the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did, and his bad hand became completely well.

(Matthew 4.23-25)
17 Jesus and his apostles went down from the mountain and came to some flat, level ground. Many other disciples were there to meet him. Large crowds of people from all over Judea, Jerusalem, and the coastal towns of Tyre and Sidon were there too. 18 These people had come to listen to Jesus and to be healed of their diseases. All who were troubled by evil spirits were also healed.
19 Everyone was trying to touch Jesus, because power was going out from him and healing them all.Blessings and Troubles
(Matthew 5.1-12)
20 Jesus looked at his disciples and said:
God will bless you people
who are poor.
His kingdom belongs to you!
21 God will bless
you hungry people.
You will have plenty
to eat!
God will bless you people
who are now crying.
You will laugh!
22 t God will bless you when others hate you and won't have anything to do with you. God will bless you when people insult you and say cruel things about you, all because you are a follower of the Son of Man.
23 t Long ago your own people did these same things to the prophets. So when this happens to you, be happy and jump for joy! You will have a great reward in heaven.
24 But you rich people
are in for trouble.
You have already had
an easy life!
25 You well-fed people
are in for trouble.
You will go hungry!
You people
who are laughing now
are in for trouble.
You are going to cry
and weep!
26 You are in for trouble when everyone says good things about you. That is what your own people said about those prophets who told lies.Love for Enemies
(Matthew 5.38-48; 7.12a)
27 This is what I say to all who will listen to me:
Love your enemies, and be good to everyone who hates you. 28 Ask God to bless anyone who curses you, and pray for everyone who is cruel to you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, don't stop that person from slapping you on the other cheek. If someone wants to take your coat, don't try to keep back your shirt. 30 Give to everyone who asks and don't ask people to return what they have taken from you.
31 t Treat others just as you want to be treated.
32 If you love only someone who loves you, will God praise you for that? Even sinners love people who love them. 33 If you are kind only to someone who is kind to you, will God be pleased with you for that? Even sinners are kind to people who are kind to them.
34 If you lend money only to someone you think will pay you back, will God be pleased with you for that? Even sinners lend to sinners because they think they will get it all back.
35 t But love your enemies and be good to them. Lend without expecting to be paid back.t Then you will get a great reward, and you will be the true children of God in heaven. He is good even to people who are unthankful and cruel.
36 Have pity on others, just as your Father has pity on you.Judging Others
(Matthew 7.1-5)
37 Jesus said:
Don't judge others, and God won't judge you. Don't be hard on others, and God won't be hard on you. Forgive others, and God will forgive you.
38 If you give to others, you will be given a full amount in return. It will be packed down, shaken together, and spilling over into your lap. The way you treat others is the way you will be treated.
39 t Jesus also used some sayings as he spoke to the people. He said:
Can one blind person lead another blind person? Won't they both fall into a ditch?
40 t Are students better than their teacher? But when they are fully trained, they will be like their teacher.
41 You can see the speck in your friend's eye, but you don't notice the log in your own eye.
42 How can you say, “My friend, let me take the speck out of your eye,” when you don't see the log in your own eye? You show-offs! First, get the log out of your own eye; then you can see how to take the speck out of your friend's eye.A Tree and Its Fruit
(Matthew 7.17-20; 12.34b,35)
43 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit. 44 t You can tell what a tree is like by the fruit it produces. You cannot pick figs or grapes from thornbushes.
45 t Good people do good things because of the good in their hearts, but bad people do bad things because of the evil in their hearts. Your words show what is in your heart.Two Builders
(Matthew 7.24-27)
46 Why do you keep on saying that I am your Lord, when you refuse to do what I say? 47 Anyone who comes and listens to me and obeys me 48 is like someone who dug down deep and built a house on solid rock. When a flood came and the river rushed against the house, it was built so well that it didn't even shake. 49 But anyone who hears what I say and doesn't obey me is like someone whose house wasn't built on solid rock. As soon as the river rushed against that house, it was smashed to pieces!
