LUCAS 6

Los discípulos arrancan espigas de trigo

1 Un sábado, Jesús y sus discípulos caminaban por un campo sembrado de trigo. Los discípulos comenzaron a arrancar espigas y a frotarlas entre las manos, para sacar el trigo y comérselo. t

2 Los fariseos vieron a los discípulos hacer esto, y dijeron:
—¿Por qué desobedecen la ley? ¡Está prohibido hacer eso en el día de descanso!

3 Jesús les respondió:

—¿No han leído ustedes en la Biblia lo que hizo el rey David, cuando él y sus compañeros tuvieron hambre?4 David entró en la casa de Dios, tomó el pan sagrado, que sólo los sacerdotes tenían permiso de comer, y se lo comieron él y sus compañeros.

5 Yo, el Hijo del hombre, soy quien decide lo que puede hacerse, y lo que no puede hacerse, en el día de descanso.

Jesús sana a un hombre en sábado

6 Otro sábado, Jesús fue a la sinagoga para enseñar. Allí estaba un hombre que tenía tullida la mano derecha.

7 Los fariseos y los maestros de la Ley estaban vigilando a Jesús, para ver si sanaba la mano de aquel hombre. Si lo hacía, podrían acusarlo de trabajar en el día de descanso.

8 Jesús se dio cuenta de lo que ellos estaban pensando, así que llamó al hombre que no podía mover la mano y le dijo: «Levántate, y párate en medio de todos.»
El hombre se levantó y se paró en el centro.

9 Luego Jesús dijo a todos los que estaban allí: «Voy a hacerles una pregunta: “¿Qué es correcto hacer en día de descanso? ¿Hacer el bien, o hacer el mal? ¿Salvar una vida o destruirla?”»

10 Y después de mirar a todos, Jesús le dijo al hombre: «Extiende la mano».
El hombre la extendió, y la mano le quedó sana.

11 Pero aquellos hombres se enojaron muchísimo y comenzaron a hacer planes contra Jesús.

Jesús elige a doce apóstoles

12 En aquellos días, Jesús subió a una montaña para orar. Allí pasó toda la noche hablando con Dios.13 Al día siguiente, llamó a sus seguidores y eligió a doce de ellos. A estos doce Jesús los llamó apóstoles.14 Ellos eran Simón, a quien llamó Pedro, y su hermano Andrés; Santiago, Juan, Felipe, Bartolomé,15 Mateo y Tomás; Santiago hijo de Alfeo, y Simón, que era miembro del partido de los patriotas;

16 Judas hijo de Santiago, y Judas Iscariote, el que después traicionó a Jesús.

Jesús enseña y sana

17 Jesús y los doce apóstoles bajaron de la montaña y se fueron a una llanura. Allí se habían reunido muchos de sus seguidores. También estaban allí muchas personas de la región de Judea, de Jerusalén y de las ciudades de Tiro y Sidón. t18 Habían llegado para que Jesús los escuchara y los sanara de sus enfermedades. Los que tenían espíritus malos también quedaron sanos.

19 Todos querían tocar a Jesús, porque sabían que el poder que salía de él los sanaría.

Bendiciones

20 Jesús miró fijamente a sus discípulos y les dijo:

«Dios los bendecirá a ustedes,
los que son pobres,
porque el reino de Dios
les pertenece.

21 »Dios los bendecirá a ustedes,
los que ahora pasan hambre,
porque tendrán comida suficiente.

»Dios los bendecirá a ustedes,
los que ahora están tristes,
porque después vivirán alegres.

22 »Dios los bendecirá a ustedes cuando la gente los odie o los insulte, o cuando sean rechazados y nadie quiera convivir con ustedes. La gente los tratará así sólo porque me obedecen a mí, el Hijo del hombre.

23 Siéntanse felices, salten de alegría, porque Dios ya les tiene preparado un premio muy grande. Hace mucho tiempo, su propia gente también trató muy mal a los profetas.»

Maldiciones

24 Jesús miró a los otros y les dijo:

«¡Qué mal les va a ir a ustedes,
los que son ricos,
pues ahora viven cómodos y tranquilos!

25 »¡Qué mal les va a ir a ustedes,
los que tienen mucho que comer,
porque pasarán hambre!

»¡Qué mal les va a ir a ustedes,
los que ahora ríen,
porque sabrán lo que es llorar
y estar tristes!

26 »¡Qué mal les va a ir a ustedes, los que siempre reciben halagos! Hace mucho tiempo, su propia gente también halagó a los profetas mentirosos.

Amar a los enemigos

27 »Escuchen bien lo que tengo que decirles: Amen a sus enemigos, y traten bien a quienes los maltraten.28 A quienes los insulten, respóndanles con buenas palabras. Si alguien los rechaza, oren por esa persona.29 Si alguien les da una bofetada en una mejilla, pídanle que les pegue en la otra. Si alguien quiere quitarles el abrigo, dejen que también se lleve la camisa.30 Si alguien les pide algo, dénselo. Si alguien les quita algo, no le pidan que lo devuelva.

31 Traten a los demás como les gustaría que los demás los trataran a ustedes.
32 »Si sólo aman a la gente que los ama, no hacen nada extraordinario. ¡Hasta los pecadores hacen eso!33 Y si sólo tratan bien a la gente que los trata bien, tampoco hacen nada extraordinario. ¡Hasta los pecadores hacen eso!

34 Si ustedes les prestan algo sólo a los que pueden darles también algo, no hacen nada que merezca ser premiado. Los pecadores también se prestan unos a otros, esperando recibir muchas ganancias.
35 »Amen a sus enemigos, hagan el bien y presten sin esperar nada a cambio. Si lo hacen, el Dios altísimo les dará un gran premio, y serán sus hijos. Dios es bueno hasta con la gente mala y desagradecida.

36 Ustedes deben ser compasivos con todas las personas, así como Dios, su Padre, es compasivo con todos.»

No juzguen a los demás

37 Jesús también les dijo:

«No se conviertan en jueces de los demás, y Dios no los juzgará a ustedes. No sean duros con los demás, y Dios no será duro con ustedes. Perdonen a los demás y Dios los perdonará a ustedes.

38 Denles a otros lo necesario, y Dios les dará a ustedes lo que necesiten. En verdad, Dios les dará la misma medida que ustedes den a los demás. Si dan trigo, recibirán una bolsa llena de trigo, bien apretada y repleta, sin que tengan que ir a buscarla.»

39 Jesús también les puso esta comparación:

«Un ciego no puede guiar a otro ciego, porque los dos caerían en el mismo hueco.

40 El alumno no sabe más que su maestro; pero, cuando termine sus estudios, sabrá lo mismo que él.
41 »¿Por qué te fijas en lo malo que hacen otros, y no te das cuenta de las muchas cosas malas que haces tú? Es como si te fijaras que en el ojo de alguien hay una basurita, y no te dieras cuenta de que en el tuyo hay una rama.

42 ¿Cómo te atreves a decirle al otro: “Déjame sacarte la basurita que tienes en el ojo”, si en el tuyo tienes una rama? ¡Hipócrita! Saca primero la rama que tienes en tu ojo, y así podrás ver bien para sacar la basurita que está en el ojo del otro.»

El árbol y su fruto

43 Jesús también les dijo:

«Ningún árbol bueno produce frutos malos, y ningún árbol malo produce frutos buenos.44 Cada árbol se conoce por los frutos que produce. De una planta de espinos no se pueden recoger higos ni uvas.

45 La gente buena siempre hace el bien, porque el bien habita en su corazón. La gente mala siempre hace el mal, porque en su corazón está el mal. Las palabras que salen de tu boca muestran lo que hay en tu corazón.»

Dos clases de personas

46 Jesús continuó diciendo:

«Ustedes dicen que yo soy su Señor y su dueño, pero no hacen lo que yo les ordeno.47 Si alguien se acerca a mí, y escucha lo que yo enseño y me obedece,

48 es como el que construyó su casa sobre la roca. Hizo un hoyo profundo, hasta encontrar la roca, y allí puso las bases. Cuando vino una inundación, la corriente de agua pegó muy fuerte contra la casa. Pero la casa no se movió, porque estaba bien construida.

49 »En cambio, el que escucha lo que yo enseño y no me obedece, es como el que construyó su casa sobre terreno blando. Vino la corriente de agua y pegó muy fuerte contra la casa; la casa enseguida se vino abajo y se hizo pedazos.»

Luke 6

1 Now it came to pass on a sabbath, that he was going through the grainfields; and his disciples plucked the ears, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.2 But certain of the Pharisees said, Why do ye that which it is not lawful to do on the sabbath day?3 And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read even this, what David did, when he was hungry, he, and they that were with him;4 how he entered into the house of God, and took and ate the showbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests alone?5 And he said unto them, The Son of man is lord of the sabbath.6 And it came to pass on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man there, and his right hand was withered.7 And the scribes and the Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath; that they might find how to accuse him.8 But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man that had his hand withered, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.9 And Jesus said unto them, I ask you, Is it lawful on the sabbath to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to destroy it?10 And he looked round about on them all, and said unto him, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored.11 But they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.12 And it came to pass in these days, that he went out into the mountain to pray; and he continued all night in prayer to God.13 And when it was day, he called his disciples; and he chose from them twelve, whom also he named apostles:14 Simon, whom he also named Peter, and Andrew his brother, and James and John, and Philip and Bartholomew,15 and Matthew and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot,16 and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor;17 and he came down with them, and stood on a level place, and a great multitude of his disciples, and a great number of the people from all Judaea and Jerusalem, and the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;18 and they that were troubled with unclean spirits were healed.19 And all the multitude sought to touch him; for power came forth from him, and healed them all.20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed are ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.23 Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy: for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for in the same manner did their fathers unto the prophets.24 But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.25 Woe unto you, ye that are full now! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you, ye that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for in the same manner did their fathers to the false prophets.27 But I say unto you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you,28 bless them that curse you, pray for them that despitefully use you.29 To him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and from him that taketh away thy cloak withhold not thy coat also.30 Give to every one that asketh thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.32 And if ye love them that love you, what thank have ye? for even sinners love those that love them.33 And if ye do good to them that do good to you, what thank have ye? for even sinners do the same.34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? even sinners lend to sinners, to receive again as much.35 But love your enemies, and do them good, and lend, never despairing; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be sons of the Most High: for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.36 Be ye merciful, even as your Father is merciful.37 And judge not, and ye shall not be judged: and condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: release, and ye shall be released:38 give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, shall they give into your bosom. For with what measure ye mete it shall be measured to you again.39 And he spake also a parable unto them, Can the blind guide the blind? shall they not both fall into a pit?40 The disciple is not above his teacher: but every one when he is perfected shall be as his teacher.41 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?42 Or how canst thou say to thy brother, Brother, let me cast out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine own eye, and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote that is in thy brother’s eye.43 For there is no good tree that bringeth forth corrupt fruit; nor again a corrupt tree that bringeth forth good fruit.44 For each tree is known by its own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?47 Every one that cometh unto me, and heareth my words, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like:48 he is like a man building a house, who digged and went deep, and laid a foundation upon the rock: and when a flood arose, the stream brake against that house, and could not shake it: because it had been well builded.49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that built a house upon the earth without a foundation; against which the stream brake, and straightway it fell in; and the ruin of that house was great.
