Lucas 6

Jesús es Señor del día de descanso

1 Un día de descansot Jesús iba por unos sembrados, y sus seguidores arrancaban espigas, las desgranaban en las manos y se las comían.

2 Entonces algunos fariseost dijeron:
—¿Por qué hacen ustedes lo que está prohibido en el día de descanso?

3 Jesús les respondió:
—¿No han leído ustedes lo que hizo Davidt cuando él y sus compañeros tuvieron hambre?

4 Entró a la casa de Dios y tomó los panes que se consagran a Dios, comió de ellos y también les dio a sus compañeros. Y ustedes bien saben que no se permite a nadie comer de esos panes, sino sólo a los sacerdotes.

5 Entonces les dijo:
—El Hijo del hombret es Señor del día de descanso.

Jesús sana en el día de descanso

6 Otro día de descansot, Jesús fue a la sinagogat y enseñó. Había allí un hombre que tenía paralizada la mano derecha.7 Los maestros de la ley y los fariseost estaban esperando que Jesús sanara a alguien en el día de descanso porque buscaban alguna razón para acusarlo.

8 Jesús sabía lo que estaban pensando. Le dijo al hombre que tenía la mano paralizada:
—Levántate y ponte frente a todos.
Entonces el hombre se levantó y se paró allí,

9 y Jesús les dijo:
—Déjenme hacerles una pregunta: ¿qué se debe hacer en el día de descanso, el bien o el mal, salvar una vida o destruirla?

10 Entonces Jesús los miró a todos y le dijo al hombre:
—Extiende la mano.
El hombre extendió la mano y quedó sana.

11 Pero los fariseos y los maestros de la ley se pusieron furiosos, y discutían entre sí qué podrían hacer contra Jesús.

Jesús elige a los doce apóstoles

12 En esos días, Jesús se fue a un cerro a orar. Pasó toda la noche en oración con Dios.13 Al amanecer llamó a sus seguidores, eligió a doce de ellos y los llamó apóstoles:14 Simón, a quien también llamó Pedro; Andrés, hermano de Simón; Santiago, Juan, Felipe, Bartolomé,15 Mateo, Tomás, Santiago hijo de Alfeo; Simón, llamado el zelotet;

16 Judas hijo de Santiago y Judas Iscariote, quien luego se convertiría en un traidor.

Jesús enseña y sana al pueblo

17 Jesús bajó con sus apóstoles y se detuvo en un llano. También estaban allí muchos de sus seguidores y una gran multitud de Jerusalén, de toda la región de Judea y de Tirot y de Sidónt, ciudades de la costa.18 Habían venido a escucharlo y a que los sanara de sus enfermedades. También fueron sanados los que eran atormentados por espíritus malignost.

19 Toda la gente quería tocarlo porque de él salía poder para sanar a todos.
20 Jesús miró a sus seguidores y les dijo:
«Afortunadost ustedes los pobres,porque el reino de Diost les pertenece.

21 Afortunados ustedes
los que ahora tienen hambre,
porque serán completamente satisfechos.
Afortunados ustedes que ahora lloran,
porque luego no podrán contener
su alegría.
22 »Cuando la gente los odie por ser seguidores del Hijo del hombret, cuando los echen, los insulten y crean que sea malo hasta mencionar el nombre de ustedes, sepan que ustedes son afortunados ante los ojos de Dios.23 Cuando les pase esto, pónganse contentos y salten de alegría, porque van a recibir una gran recompensa en los cielos. Así también fue como los antepasados de esa gente maltrataron a los profetas.
24 »Pero qué mal les irá a ustedes los ricos,
porque ya se han dado la gran vida.

25 Qué mal les irá a ustedes
los que están satisfechos ahora,
porque luego tendrán hambre.
Qué mal les irá a ustedes
los que ahora ríen,
porque luego estarán tristes y llorarán.

26 »Pero que mal les irá cuando todos hablen bien de ustedes, porque también los antepasados de esa gente hablaron bien de los falsos profetas.

Amen a sus enemigos

27 »Pero yo les digo a ustedes que me escuchan, amen a sus enemigos. Hagan el bien a los que los odian.28 Bendigan a los que los maldicen y oren por los que los maltratan.29 Si alguien te pega en una mejilla, ofrécele también la otra. Si alguien te quita la capa, deja que también tome tu camisa.30 A todo el que te pida algo, dáselo. Si alguien toma de ti lo que no es suyo, no le pidas que te lo devuelva.

31 Traten a los demás como les gustaría que los trataran a ustedes.
32 »Si ustedes solamente aman a los que los aman, ¿qué gracia tiene? Hasta los pecadores aman a aquellos que los aman.33 Si hacen el bien sólo a aquellos que les hacen el bien, ¿qué gracia tiene? Hasta los pecadores son así.34 Si sólo prestan para recibir algo a cambio, ¿qué gracia tiene? Hasta los pecadores se prestan unos a otros para recibir unos de otros.35 Más bien, amen a sus enemigos y háganles el bien. Presten sin esperar nada a cambio. Así tendrán una gran recompensa y serán hijos del Dios Altísimo, porque Dios es bueno aun con los desagradecidos y perversos.

36 Sean compasivos como su Padre es compasivo.

No juzguen a los demás

37 »No juzguen a los demás y Dios no los juzgará a ustedes. No condenen a los demás y no serán condenados. Perdonen y serán perdonados.

38 Den a los demás y ustedes también recibirán. Se les dará una cantidad mayor a la que puedan contener en su regazo, aunque se la haya agitado y apretado al máximo, siempre se rebosará. Porque con la misma medida que ustedes midan a los demás, Dios los volverá a medir a ustedes».
39 Jesús también les contó esta comparaciónt: «¿Puede un ciego guiar a otro ciego? ¿No caerán los dos en un hoyo?

40 Ningún estudiante es mejor que su maestro. Sin embargo, cuando termine su aprendizaje, será como su maestro.
41 »¿Por qué te fijas en la pajita que tiene tu hermano en el ojo, pero no te das cuenta de la viga que tienes tú en el tuyo?

42 ¿Cómo te atreves a decirle a tu hermano: "Déjame sacarte la pajita del ojo", si ni siquiera puedes ver la viga que tienes en el tuyo? ¡No seas hipócrita! Primero saca la viga de tu ojo y verás mejor para poder sacar la pajita del de tu hermano.

Dos clases de frutos

43 »Un árbol bueno no da fruto malo. Tampoco un árbol malo puede dar fruto bueno.44 El árbol se conoce por su fruto. No se recogen higos de espinos. Tampoco se cosechan uvas de las zarzas.

45 El que es bueno lo es en su corazón y habla de lo que tiene allí, de igual manera el malo lo es en su corazón y habla de lo que tiene allí; porque las palabras revelan lo que hay en el corazón.

Dos clases de gente

46 »¿Por qué me llaman: "Señor, Señor", y no hacen lo que les digo?47 Les voy a dar un ejemplo del que viene a mí, escucha y obedece mis enseñanzas: es como el que48 construyó una casa. Cavó bien hondo y puso el cimiento sobre la roca. Luego vinieron las inundaciones y el río azotó contra la casa, pero no pudo destruirla porque estaba construida sobre la roca.

49 En cambio, el que escucha mis enseñanzas y no las obedece es como el que construyó su casa sin ponerle cimientos. Vinieron las inundaciones y el río golpeó la casa, e inmediatamente la casa se derrumbó y quedó completamente destruida».

Luke 6

Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath

1 Now it happened that He was passing through some grainfields on a Sabbath; and His disciples were picking the heads of grain, rubbing them in their hands, and eating the grain. 2 But some of the Pharisees said, "Why do you do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?"3 And Jesus answering them said, "Have you not even read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him,4 how he entered the house of God, and took and ate the tconsecrated bread which is not lawful for any to eat except the priests alone, and gave it to his companions?"5 And He was saying to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

6 On another Sabbath He entered the synagogue and was teaching; and there was a man there whose right hand was withered.7 The scribes and the Pharisees were watching Him closely to see if He healed on the Sabbath, so that they might find reason to accuse Him.8 But He knew what they were thinking, and He said to the man with the withered hand, "Get up and come forward!" And he got up and came forward.9 And Jesus said to them, "I ask you, is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to destroy it?"10 After looking around at them all, He said to him, "Stretch out your hand!" And he did so; and his hand was restored.11 But they themselves were filled with rage, and discussed together what they might do to Jesus.

Choosing the Twelve

12 It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.13 And when day came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also named as apostles:14 Simon, whom He also named Peter, and Andrew his brother; and James and John; and Philip and Bartholomew;15 and Matthew and Thomas; James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon who was called the Zealot;16 Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor.

17 Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place; and there was a large crowd of His disciples, and a great throng of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon,18 who had come to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were being cured.19 And all the people were trying to touch Him, for power was coming from Him and healing them all.

The Beatitudes

20 And turning His gaze toward His disciples, He began to say, "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.21 Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.22 Blessed are you when men hate you, and ostracize you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man.23 Be glad in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven. For in the same way their fathers used to treat the prophets.24 But woe to you who are rich, for you are receiving your comfort in full.25 Woe to you who are well-fed now, for you shall be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you shall mourn and weep.26 Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for their fathers used to treat the false prophets in the same way.

27 "But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.29 Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not withhold your shirt from him either.30 Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.31 Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.32 If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.33 If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.34 If you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount.35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned.38 Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure-pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return."

39 And He also spoke a parable to them: "A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit?40 A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher.41 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?42 Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye.43 For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit.44 For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush.45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.

Builders and Foundations

46 "Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say?47 Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like:48 he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.49 But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great."
