Rasprava o suboti

1 Neke su subote, dok je Isus prolazio poljem usjeva, učenici počeli trgati klasje, trti ga rukama i jesti.

2 A neki farizeji rekoše: "Zašto činite ono što je subotom zabranjeno?"
3 Isus im odgovori: "Niste li u Pismu čitali što je učinio kralj David kad su on i njegovi pratitelji ogladnjeli?4 Ušao je u Dom Božji i jeo prineseni kruh koji je dopušteno jesti samo svećenicima te ga je dao jesti i svojim pratiteljiima.

5 Ja, Sin Čovječji, gospodar sam čak i subote."

Isus iscjeljuje u subotu

6 Druge subote Isus uđe u sinagogu i počne poučavati. Ondje je bio neki čovjek usahnule desne ruke.7 Pismoznanci i farizeji budno su pazili hoće li Isus u subotu iscjeljivati, da ga mogu optužiti.8 Ali Isus je znao za njihovu nakanu pa reče čovjeku usahnule ruke: "Ustani i dođi ovamo na sredinu!" Čovjek ustane i stane ispred svih.9 Tada Isus reče farizejima i pismoznancima: "Znamo što nam naš Zakon dopušta činiti subotom: dobro, a ne zlo. Dopušta nam spasiti život, a ne uništiti ga. »10 Pogleda ih sve uokolo pa reče čovjeku: "Ispruži ruku!" Čovjek ju ispruži i ruka mu ozdravi.

11 Isusovi se neprijatelji nato silno razgnjeve te se počnu dogovarati što da poduzmu protiv njega.

Isus izabire dvanaestoricu apostola

12 Nedugo zatim Isus ode u goru moliti se. Cijelu se noć molio Bogu.

13 Kad se razdanilo, dozove učenike te od njih izabere dvanaestoricu i imenuje ih apostolima:
14 Šimuna (kojega je prozvao Petrom),
Andriju (Šimunova brata),
Jakova,
Ivana,
Filipa,
Bartolomeja,15 Mateja,
Tomu,
Jakova (Alfejeva sina),
Šimuna (zvanoga Revnitelj),16 Judu (Jakovljeva sina)
i Judu Iškariotskoga (koji ga je poslije izdao).

Mnoštvo slijedi Isusa

17 Isus s njima siđe s gore i zaustavi se na nekoj visoravni. Mnoštvo njegovih učenika te silno mnoštvo naroda iz cijele Judeje, Jeruzalema te iz tirskog i sidonskog primorja18 nagrnulo je da ga sluša i izliječi se od bolesti. Ozdravljali su i ljudi koje su mučili nečisti duhovi.

19 Svi su ga pokušavali dotaknuti jer je iz njega izlazila sila koja je sve iscjeljivala.

Blaženstva

20 Isus se okrene prema učenicima i reče:
"Blago vama, siromasi,
jer imate kraljevstvo Božje!21 Blago vama koji ste sada gladni,
jer ćete se nasititi!
Blago vama koji sada plačete,
jer ćete se smijati!22 Blago vama kad vas ljudi zamrze,
kad vas izopće i pogrde
i prezru vaše ime kao zločinačko
zbog Sina Čovječjega!23 Kad se to dogodi, radujte se jer vas čeka velika plaća na nebu. Ne zaboravite da su i prema prorocima tako postupali njihovi očevi!"

Pretkazanje nevolja

24 "Teško vama, bogataši,
jer ste već primili svoju utjehu.25 Teško vama koji ste sada siti,
jer ćete gladovati.
Teško vama koji se sada smijete,
jer ćete tugovati i plakati.26 Teško vama kad vas svi budu hvalili
jer su tako i lažne proroke hvalili njihovi oci."

O ljubavi prema neprijatelju

27 "Želite li me poslušati, kažem vam: Ljubite svoje neprijatelje! Činite dobro onima koji vas mrze.28 Blagoslivljajte one koji vas proklinju i molite se za one koji vas zlostavljaju.29 Udari li vas tko po obrazu, pružite mu i drugi. Uzima li vam tko ogrtač, dajte mu i košulju!30 Tko god vas što zamoli, dajte mu, a od onoga tko vam otima ne tražite svoje natrag!

31 Postupajte prema drugima onako kako želite da drugi postupaju prema vama.
32 Mislite li da zaslužujete nagradu ako volite one koji vas vole? Ta i grešnici tako čine.33 I ako dobro činite onima koji vama čine dobro, zar ste zaslužili nagradu? To čine i grešnici.

34 Ako posuđujete samo onima od kojih se nadate povratu, kakvu ste nagradu zaslužili? I grešnici posuđuju grešnicima da jednako prime natrag.
35 Ali vi volite svoje neprijatelje. Činite dobro i posuđujte ne nadajući se ničemu zauzvrat. Tako će vam plaća biti velika i bit ćete djeca Svevišnjega koji je dobrostiv i prema nezahvalnicima i prema opakima.

36 Budite milosrdni kao što je milosrdan vaš Otac."

O osuđivanju drugih

37 "Ne osuđujte, i nećete biti osuđeni. Ne sudite druge, pa se ni vama neće suditi. Opraštajte drugima, pa će Bog opraštati i vama.

38 Dajte, pa ćete i vi dobiti. Vaš će vam se dar vratiti u punoj i prepunoj mjeri, dobro nabijenoj, natresenoj, preobilnoj. Jer kakvom mjerom dajete, takvom će se i vama davati."
39 Zatim im Isus ispriča prispodobe: "Može li slijepac slijepca voditi? Obojica će upasti u jamu.

40 Učenik nije veći od učitelja, a tko je potpuno poučen, ravan je svojem učitelju.
41 Što imaš gledati trun u oku svojega brata kad u vlastitome oku ni brvna ne opažaš?

42 Kako ti, koji u vlastitome oku ne vidiš ni brvna, možeš reći bratu: 'Daj da ti izvadim trun iz oka'? Licemjeru! Izvadi najprije brvno iz vlastitog oka, pa ćeš onda dobro vidjeti kako da izvadiš trun iz bratova!"

Prispodoba o stablu i plodovima

43 "Dobro stablo ne može roditi nevaljalim plodom niti nevaljalo stablo može roditi dobrim plodom.44 Svako se stablo po plodu poznaje. Ne beru se s trnja smokve niti s gloga grožđe.

45 Dobar čovjek iz svojega srca iznosi dobra djela, a zao iz svojega zlog srca zla djela. Čovjek ustima govori ono što mu je u srcu."

Kuća na stijeni i kuća na pijesku

46 "Zašto me dakle nazivate Gospodinom, a ne činite što vam zapovijedam?"47 Reći ću vam kakav je svaki koji dolazi k meni, sluša što govorim i čini tako:48 on je poput čovjeka koji gradi kuću te iskopa dubok temelj i izgradi kuću na stijeni. Kad dođe poplava i navale bujice, ona ostane čvrsto stajati jer je dobro izgrađena.

49 A onaj tko sluša riječi i ne čini tako jest poput čovjeka koji kuću izgradi na tlu, bez temelja. Kad na nju navali bujica, ona se brzo sruši i od nje ostane velika razvalina."

Luke 6

Lord of the Sabbath

1 Jesust was going through the grain fields ont a Sabbath,s and his disciples picked some heads of wheat,t rubbed them in their hands, and ate them.t2 But some of the Phariseess said, “Why are yout doing what is against the laws on the Sabbath?”3 Jesust answered them,t “Haven’t you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry –4 how he entered the house of God, tookt and ate the sacred bread,ts which is not lawfuls for any to eat but the priests alone, ands gave it to his companions?”ss

5 Thent he said to them, “The Son of Man is lordts of the Sabbath.”

Healing a Withered Hand

6 Ont another Sabbath, Jesust entered the synagogues and was teaching. Nowt a man was there whose right hand was withered.ts7 The experts in the lawt and the Phariseess watcheds Jesust closely to see ift he would heal on the Sabbath,s so that they could find a reason to accuse him.8 Butt he knews their thoughts,t and said to the man who had the withered hand, “Get up and stand here.”s Sot he rose and stood there.9 Thent Jesus said to them, “I ask you,s is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save a life or to destroy it?”10 Aftert looking aroundt at them all, he said to the man,t “Stretch out your hand.” The mant did so, and his hand was restored.s

11 But they were filled with mindless raget and began debating with one another what they would dot to Jesus.

Choosing the Twelve Apostles

12 Nowt it was during this time that Jesust went out to the mountaints to pray, and he spent all nights in prayer to God.t13 Whent morning came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles:s14 Simons (whom he named Peter), and his brother Andrew; and James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,s15 Matthew, Thomas,s James the son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot,s

16 Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot,s who became a traitor.

The Sermon on the Plain

17 Thent he came down with them and stood on a level place.t And a large numbert of his disciples had gatheredtt along witht a vast multitude from all over Judea, fromt Jerusalem,s and from the seacoast of Tyres and Sidon.ss They came to hear him and to be healeds of their diseases,18 and those who suffered fromt uncleans spirits were cured.

19 Thet whole crowd was trying to touch him, because powers was coming out from him and healing them all.

20 Thent he looked upt at his disciples and said:
“Blesseds are you who are poor,s for the kingdom of God belongss to you.

21 “Blessed are you who hungers now, for you will be satisfied.s
“Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.s
22 “Blessed are you when peoplet hate you, and when they exclude you and insult you and reject you as evilts on account of the Son of Man!

23 Rejoice in that day, and jump for joy, becauset your reward is great in heaven. For their ancestorst did the same things to the prophets.s

24 “But woes to you who are rich, for you have receiveds your comfortt already.

25 “Woe to you who are well satisfied with foodt now, for you will be hungry.
“Woe to yous who laughs now, for you will mourn and weep.

26 “Woe to yous when all peoplet speak well of you, for their ancestorst did the same things to the false prophets.
27 “But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies,s do good to those who hate you,28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreatt you.29 To the person who strikes you on the cheek,s offer the other as well,s and from the person who takes away your coat,t do not withhold your tunict either.s30 Give to everyone who asks you,s and do not ask for your possessionst backs from the person who takes them away.

31 Treat otherst in the same way that you would want them to treat you.s
32 “Ift you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinnerss love those who love them.s33 Ands if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Evens sinnerss do the same.34 And if you lend to those from whom you hope to be repaid,t what credit is that to you? Even sinnerss lend to sinners, so that they may be repaid in full.t35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back.t Thent your reward will be great, and you will be sonss of the Most High,s because he is kind to ungrateful and evil people.t

36 Be merciful,s just as your Father is merciful.

Do Not Judge Others

37 “Dot not judge,s and you will not be judged;s do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive,s and you will be forgiven.

38 Give, and it will be given to you: A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over,s will be pouredt into your lap. For the measure you use will be the measure you receive.”t
39 He also told them a parable: “Someone who is blind cannot lead another who is blind, can he?t Won’t they both falls into a pit?40 A disciplet is not greater thant his teacher, but everyone when fully trained will be like his teacher.41 Whyt do you see the specks in your brother’s eye, but fail to seet the beam of woods in your own?

42 How can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck from your eye,’ while you yourself don’t see the beam in your own? You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
43 “Fort no good tree bears badt fruit, nor agains does a bad tree bear good fruit,44 for each tree is knowns by its own fruit. For figs are not gatheredt from thorns, nor are grapes pickedt from brambles.ts

45 The good person out of the good treasury of hist hearts produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasuryt produces evil, for his mouth speakss from what fillst his heart.

46 “Whyt do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’t and don’t do what I tell you?s
47 “Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and puts them into practicet – I will show you what he is like:48 He is like a mant building a house, who dug down deep,t and laid the foundation on bedrock. Whent a flood came, the rivers burst against that house butt could not shake it, because it had been well built.s

49 But the person who hears and does not put my words into practicet is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. Whent the river burst against that house,t it collapsed immediately, and was utterly destroyed!”ts
