Giayo ni Jesus ang Ulipon sa Kapitan

(Mt. 8:5-13)

1 Human sa pagpanudlo ni Jesus sa mga tawo, miadto siya sa Capernaum.2 Didto may kapitan sa mga sundalo nga Romanhon nga may ulipon nga nagsakit ug himalatyon na. Gihigugma gayod niya ang iyang ulipon.3 Busa pagkadungog sa kapitan mahitungod kang Jesus, gisugo niya ang pipila ka mga pangulo sa mga Judio sa paghangyo kang Jesus nga moadto didto sa iyang balay aron ayohon ang iyang ulipon.4 Pag-abot nila kang Jesus nagpakilooy gayod sila kaniya. Miingon sila,

5 Gihigugma niya kita nga mga Judio ug nagpatukod pa gani siya ug simbahan alang kanato."
6 Busa miuban si Jesus kanila. Sa dihang hapit na sila moabot sa balay sa kapitan, gisugo sa kapitan ang pipila niya ka amigo aron sugaton si Jesus ug sultihan,7 Mao gani nga wala ako moadto kanimo tungod kay dili ako takos nga moduol kanimo. Isulti lang ug mamaayo ang akong ulipon.8 Nasayod ako niini tungod kay ako ubos man sa pagmando sa mga opisyal, ug may mga sundalo usab nga ubos sa akong pagmando. Busa kon momando ako sa usa, molakaw siya, ug kon momando ako sa usa, moanhi siya. Ug kon unsa ang akong isugo sa akong ulipon, himuon niya."9 Pagkadungog niini ni Jesus, natingala gayod siya. Miatubang siya sa mga tawo nga miuban kaniya ug miingon,

10 Mibalik ang mga sinugo sa kapitan sa iyang balay ug nakita nila nga naayo na ang ulipon.

Gibanhaw ni Jesus ang Anak sa Babayeng Balo

11 Sa wala madugay miadto si Jesus sa lungsod sa Nain. Miuban kaniya ang iyang mga sumusunod ug ang daghang mga tawo.12  Sa dihang nagkaduol na sila sa pultahan sa lungsod sa Nain , natagboan nila ang daghang mga tawo nga miuban sa paglubong sa usa ka patay. Ang namatay bugtong anak sa usa ka babayeng balo.13  Pagkakita ni Ginoong Jesus sa inahan sa namatay, nalooy gayod siya. Miingon siya,14 Unya miduol si Jesus sa lungon ug gikuptan niya kini, busa mihunong ang mga nagdala niini. Miingon si Jesus sa patay,15 Mibangon ang patay, milingkod ug misulti. Unya gihatag siya ug balik ni Jesus ngadto sa iyang inahan.16 Pagkakita niini sa mga tawo nahadlok sila, ug gidayeg nila ang Dios. Miingon sila,

17 Mikaylap sa tibuok Judea ug sa tanang mga dapit sa palibot ang balita mahitungod sa gihimo ni Jesus.

Si Jesus ug si Juan nga Tigbautismo

(Mt. 11:2-19)

18 Kining tanang nahitabo gibalita kang Juan sa iyang mga sumusunod.19 Busa gitawag ni Juan ang duha niya ka sumusunod ug gisugo niya nga moadto sa Ginoo aron mangutana kon siya na ba ang ilang gipaabot o maghulat pa sila ug lain.20-21 Unya miadto sila kang Jesus ug miingon, Niadtong higayona daghang masakiton ang gipang-ayo ni Ginoong Jesus, bisan pa kadtong may grabe nga mga sakit, ug ang mga gisudlan sa daotang espiritu. Daghan usab ang buta nga iyang gipang-ayo.22 Gitubag ni Jesus ang mga sinugo,

23 Bulahan ang mga tawo nga wala nagaduhaduha kanako."
24 Sa nakalakaw na ang mga sinugo ni Juan, nangutana si Jesus sa mga tawo,25 O miadto ba kamo didto aron makita ninyo ang tawo nga nagsul-ob ug mahalong bisti? Apan nasayod kamo nga ang tawo nga nagasul-ob ug mahalong mga bisti ug nagkinabuhi nga hamugaway nagapuyo sa mga palasyo.26  Sultihi ninyo ako kon nganong miadto kamo didto. Dili ba aron makita ninyo ang propeta sa Dios ? Oo di ba, ug labaw pa gayod siya sa propeta.27  Tungod kay siya mao ang ginaingon sa Dios sa Kasulatan, " + 7:27 Tan-awa usab ang Mal. 3:1.

28 Miingon pa gayod si Jesus,
29 Ang tanang mga tawo nga nakadungog sa pagpanudlo ni Jesus, bisan ang mga maniningil ug buhis, miuyon nga matarong ang mga katuyoan sa Dios, tungod kay kini sila nagpabautismo na man kang Juan.

30 Apan ang mga Pariseo ug ang mga magtutudlo sa Kasugoan wala mouyon sa katuyoan sa Dios alang kanila, kay sila wala man nagpabautismo kang Juan.
31  add Miingon pa gayod si Jesus, 32  Sama sila sa mga bata nga nanglingkod sa plasa nga nagadula . Ang usa ka grupo nag-ingon sa usa,33  add Kamo sama usab kanila, tungod kay sa pag-abot ni Juan nakita ninyo nga nagapuasa siya ug wala moinom ug bino, busa miingon kamo nga naa siyay daotang espiritu.34  Ug ako nga Anak sa Tawo, pag-abot nako, nakita ninyo nga nagakaon ug nagainom, busa nagaingon kamo nga palakaon + 7:34 palakaon: o, bulaos. ako ug palahubog. Nagaingon usab kamo nga amigo ako sa mga maniningil ug buhis ug sa uban pang mga makasasala.

35 Apan wala kanay bali, kay ang mga tawo nga nagasunod sa kabubut-on sa Dios nagapamatuod nga husto ang gihimo sa Dios."

Si Jesus sa Balay ni Simon nga Pariseo

36 Unya may usa ka Pariseo nga midapit kang Jesus sa pagpangaon didto sa iyang balay. Busa miadto si Jesus aron mokaon didto.37 Niadtong lungsora may usa ka babaye nga nailhan gayod nga makasasala. Pagkadungog niya nga miadto si Jesus sa balay sa Pariseo miadto usab siya didto. Nagdala siya ug gamay nga tibod nga may sulod nga pahumot.38 Miduol siya dapit sa likod ni Jesus ug mihilak siya sa tiilan niini. Mitulo ang iyang mga luha sa mga tiil ni Jesus. Gipahiran niya kini sa iyang buhok ug gihalokan. Pagkahuman, gibuboan niya ug pahumot ang tiil ni Jesus.39 Pagkakita niini sa Pariseo nga midapit kang Jesus, miingon siya sa iyang kaugalingon,40 Apan nahibaloan ni Jesus kon unsa ang iyang gihunahuna, busa miingon siya, Miingon si Simon,41 Mitubag si Jesus pinaagi sa sambingay,42 Unya tungod kay dili sila makabayad, wala na lang sila pabayra sa nagpautang kanila. Karon, kinsa kaha kanilang duha ang labing mahigugma sa ilang nautangan?"43 Mitubag si Simon, Miingon si Jesus,44 Unya gilingi niya ang babaye ug miingon kang Simon,45  Wala mo ako hagki agi ug pag-abiabi. Apan kini nga babaye, gikan pa sa akong pag-abot dinhi wala gayoy hunong ang iyang paghalok sa akong tiil.46  Wala mo butangi ug lana ang akong ulo agi ug pagdawat kanako, apan kini nga babaye, ang mahalon pa gayod nga pahumot ang iyang gibubo sa akong tiil.47 Busa sultihan ko ikaw, nga ang daghan niyang mga sala gipasaylo na. Tungod niini nagpakita siya ug dako nga gugma kanako. Apan sa tawo nga gamay lang ang sala nga gipasaylo, gamay lang ang paghigugma nga iyang gipakita."48 Unya misulti si Jesus sa babaye,49 Ang mga nangaon kauban ni Jesus miingon sa ilang kaugalingon,50 Unya miingon si Jesus sa babaye,

Luke 7

A Place of Holy Mystery

1-5 When he finished speaking to the people, he entered Capernaum. A Roman captain there had a servant who was on his deathbed. He prized him highly and didn't want to lose him. When he heard Jesus was back, he sent leaders from the Jewish community asking him to come and heal his servant. They came to Jesus and urged him to do it, saying, "He deserves this. He loves our people. He even built our meeting place."

6-8 Jesus went with them. When he was still quite far from the house, the captain sent friends to tell him, "Master, you don't have to go to all this trouble. I'm not that good a person, you know. I'd be embarrassed for you to come to my house, even embarrassed to come to you in person. Just give the order and my servant will get well. I'm a man under orders; I also give orders. I tell one soldier, 'Go,' and he goes; another, 'Come,' and he comes; my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it."

9-10 Taken aback, Jesus addressed the accompanying crowd: "I've yet to come across this kind of simple trust anywhere in Israel, the very people who are supposed to know about God and how he works." When the messengers got back home, they found the servant up and well.

11-15 Not long after that, Jesus went to the village Nain. His disciples were with him, along with quite a large crowd. As they approached the village gate, they met a funeral procession—a woman's only son was being carried out for burial. And the mother was a widow. When Jesus saw her, his heart broke. He said to her, "Don't cry." Then he went over and touched the coffin. The pallbearers stopped. He said, "Young man, I tell you: Get up." The dead son sat up and began talking. Jesus presented him to his mother.

16-17 They all realized they were in a place of holy mystery, that God was at work among them. They were quietly worshipful—and then noisily grateful, calling out among themselves, "God is back, looking to the needs of his people!" The news of Jesus spread all through the country.

Is This What You Were Expecting?

18-19 John's disciples reported back to him the news of all these events taking place. He sent two of them to the Master to ask the question, "Are you the One we've been expecting, or are we still waiting?"

20 The men showed up before Jesus and said, "John the Baptizer sent us to ask you, 'Are you the One we've been expecting, or are we still waiting?'"

21-23 In the next two or three hours Jesus healed many from diseases, distress, and evil spirits. To many of the blind he gave the gift of sight. Then he gave his answer: "Go back and tell John what you have just seen and heard:
The blind see, The lame walk, Lepers are cleansed, The deaf hear, The dead are raised, The wretched of the earth have God's salvation hospitality extended to them. "Is this what you were expecting? Then count yourselves fortunate!"

24-27 After John's messengers left to make their report, Jesus said more about John to the crowd of people. "What did you expect when you went out to see him in the wild? A weekend camper? Hardly. What then? A sheik in silk pajamas? Not in the wilderness, not by a long shot. What then? A messenger from God? That's right, a messenger! Probably the greatest messenger you'll ever hear. He is the messenger Malachi announced when he wrote,
I'm sending my messenger on ahead To make the road smooth for you.

28-30 "Let me lay it out for you as plainly as I can: No one in history surpasses John the Baptizer, but in the kingdom he prepared you for, the lowliest person is ahead of him. The ordinary and disreputable people who heard John, by being baptized by him into the kingdom, are the clearest evidence; the Pharisees and religious officials would have nothing to do with such a baptism, wouldn't think of giving up their place in line to their inferiors.

31-35 "How can I account for the people of this generation? They're like spoiled children complaining to their parents, 'We wanted to skip rope and you were always too tired; we wanted to talk but you were always too busy.' John the Baptizer came fasting and you called him crazy. The Son of Man came feasting and you called him a lush. Opinion polls don't count for much, do they? The proof of the pudding is in the eating."

Anointing His Feet

36-39 One of the Pharisees asked him over for a meal. He went to the Pharisee's house and sat down at the dinner table. Just then a woman of the village, the town harlot, having learned that Jesus was a guest in the home of the Pharisee, came with a bottle of very expensive perfume and stood at his feet, weeping, raining tears on his feet. Letting down her hair, she dried his feet, kissed them, and anointed them with the perfume. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, "If this man was the prophet I thought he was, he would have known what kind of woman this is who is falling all over him."

40 Jesus said to him, "Simon, I have something to tell you."
"Oh? Tell me."

41-42 "Two men were in debt to a banker. One owed five hundred silver pieces, the other fifty. Neither of them could pay up, and so the banker canceled both debts. Which of the two would be more grateful?"

43-47 Simon answered, "I suppose the one who was forgiven the most."
"That's right," said Jesus. Then turning to the woman, but speaking to Simon, he said, "Do you see this woman? I came to your home; you provided no water for my feet, but she rained tears on my feet and dried them with her hair. You gave me no greeting, but from the time I arrived she hasn't quit kissing my feet. You provided nothing for freshening up, but she has soothed my feet with perfume. Impressive, isn't it? She was forgiven many, many sins, and so she is very, very grateful. If the forgiveness is minimal, the gratitude is minimal."

48 Then he spoke to her: "I forgive your sins."

49 That set the dinner guests talking behind his back: "Who does he think he is, forgiving sins!"

50 He ignored them and said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."
