Kvinnorna som följde med Jesus

1 Efter detta gav sig Jesus ut på vandring till olika städer och byar i Galileen. Och överallt berättade han det glada budskapet om att Gud vill rädda människor och göra dem till sitt eget folk.t Med på vandringen hade han sina tolv närmaste efterföljare,2 och några kvinnor som hade blivit befriade från onda andar och från sjukdomar. Kvinnorna var: Maria från Magdala, som Jesus hade befriat från sju onda andar,

3 Johanna, fru till kung Herodes förvaltare Kusas, Susanna, och många andra som hjälpte Jesus och hans efterföljare med sina egna pengar.

Bilden om lantbrukaren som sådde säd

4 En dag när mycket folk hade kommit ut till Jesus från de olika städerna, berättade han den här bilden för dem:
5 "En lantbrukare gick ut på sin åker för att så. När han sådde föll en del av sädeskornen på stigen bredvid, och folk trampade på dem, och fåglarna kom och åt upp dem.6 En del korn föll på den hårda stengrunden och började snart gro, men vissnade lika fort eftersom det inte fanns tillräckligt med fukt i jorden.7 Andra korn föll bland tistlarna, och eftersom tistlarna växte upp samtidigt kvävde de plantorna.

8 Men en del korn föll i bördig jord och växte upp och gav 100 gånger så mycket säd som den som hade såtts." Sedan ropade Jesus: "Lyssna noga och försök att förstå!"

Jesus förklarar bilden om sådden

9 Hans efterföljare frågade honom nu vad denna bild betydde.

10 Han svarade: "Ni har fått gåvan att förstå min undervisning om hur Gud vill rädda människor och göra dem till sitt eget folk,t men de andra får bara höra de här bilderna, för att 'de ska se vad jag gör men ändå inte se, och höra vad jag säger men ändå inte förstå.'t
11 Detta är vad bilden betyder: Säden som lantbrukaren sår är Guds budskap.12 Den hårda stigen, där en del av säden föll, liknar den människas hjärta som hör budskapet men inte tar det på allvar. Snart kommer djävulen och tar bort sådden ur hennes hjärta och hindrar henne från att tro och bli räddad.13 Den hårda stengrunden är lik den människas hjärta som hör budskapet och tar emot det med äkta glädje, men som inte har så mycket djup i sig att rötterna kan utvecklas. Hon vet att det hon hört är sant, och tror en tid, men så fort hon blir utsatt för prövningar ger hon upp sin tro.

14 Marken som var täckt av tistlar kan jämföras med den människa som hör budskapet och tror på det, men som efter en tid låter det kvävas av livets bekymmer, eller av en hög inkomst och nöjen, så att budskapet till slut inte påverkar hennes liv alls.

15 Men den bördiga jorden liknar den människa som lyssnar till budskapet och gömmer det i ett gott och uppriktigt hjärta. Genom uthållighet låter hon sedan budskapet få påverka hela hennes liv.

Bilden om lampan

16 När man tänder en lampa gömmer man den inte under en låda eller sätter den under en bänk, utan tvärtom ställer man den så att alla som kommer in kan se ljuset.17 På samma sätt ska allt som nu är gömt en dag föras fram i ljuset och bli synligt för alla.

18 Var därför noga med hur ni lyssnar och se till att det budskap ni får höra leder till handling. För den som förstår vad jag säger ska med tiden förstå alltmer. Men den som inget förstår ska till slut bli av med även den lilla insikt han trodde sig ha."

Jesus riktiga familj

19 Jesus mamma och bröder kom en gång för att prata med honom, men kunde inte komma in i huset där han undervisade eftersom det var så fullt av folk.20 Man sa då till honom: "Din mamma och dina bröder står här utanför och vill träffa dig."

21 Men han svarade: "Min mamma och mina syskon, det är alla de som hör Guds budskap och lyder det."

Jesus stillar stormen

22-23 Men plötsligt svepte en våldsam storm ner över sjön, och båten började fyllas så att de var verkligt illa ute.

24 Då gick hans efterföljare fram och väckte honom och började ropa: "Herre, Herre, vi sjunker!" Och när Jesus vaknat talade han strängt till vinden och vågorna, och de la sig genast, och allt blev lugnt!
25 Sedan frågade Jesus sina efterföljare: "Hur är det egentligen med er tro?"
Häpna och förskräckta sa de till varandra: "Vem är han, eftersom till och med vinden och vågorna lyder honom?"

Jesus befriar en man som är besatt av onda andar

26 Så kom de över till området kring Gerasat, tvärs över sjön från Galileen, och la till där.

27 Och när Jesus steg ur båten kom en man från staden emot honom. Han hade länge varit besatt av onda andar och levde hemlös och naken bland klippgravarna.
28 Så snart han fick se Jesus började han skrika och föll ner inför honom och ropade högt: "Lämna mig ifred, Jesus, du den högsta Gudens son! Jag ber dig, plåga mig inte!"

29 För Jesus hade just befallt den onda anden att lämna mannen. Den onda anden hade haft mannen i sitt våld under en lång tid. Man hade bundit mannen med kedjor, satt fotbojor på honom och försökt att låsa in honom, men han hade slitit sig loss och drivits ut i ödemarken av den onda anden.
30 Jesus frågade nu: "Vad heter du?" Mannen svarade då: "Legiont", för han var besatt av många onda andar.

31 Och andarna bad Jesus att inte skicka iväg dem till avgrundent.
32 Men samtidigt som detta hände gick en stor svinhjord och betade på berget ovanför sjön. De onda andarna bad därför Jesus att få fara in i svinen, och Jesus tillät dem att göra det.

33 Då lämnade de onda andarna mannen och for in i svinen, och hela svinhjorden rusade utför bergssluttningen och ner i sjön och drunknade.
34 När herdarna som vaktat svinen såg vad som hände, sprang de till den närliggande staden och till byarna runt omkring och berättade alltihop.35-36 Folket gick då ut för att ta reda på vad som hade hänt, och när de kom till Jesus fick de se mannen som hade varit besatt sitta helt lugn vid Jesus fötter, påklädd och fullständigt normal. Skräckslagna hörde de sedan ögonvittnena berätta hur den besatta mannen hade blivit befriad.37 Men händelsen hade skrämt upp människorna i Gerasa‑området så mycket att de bad Jesus lämna dem. Han steg därför i en båt och åkte tillbaka till andra sidan sjön igen.38 Mannen som hade varit besatt bad att få följa med Jesus, men Jesus skickade iväg honom och sa:39 "Gå tillbaka till din familj och berätta vilket under Gud har gjort med dig."
Då gick mannen iväg och berättade för alla i hela staden om det stora under som Jesus hade gjort med honom.

Jesus botar en kvinna med blödningar och uppväcker en död flicka

40 När Jesus kom tillbaka, tog folket emot honom på stranden, för alla hade väntat på honom.
41 Då kom det fram en man som hette Jairos och kastade sig ner framför Jesus. Han var föreståndare för synagogant på platsen, och han bad Jesus följa med honom hem,42 Jesus följde genast med Jairos, och på vägen dit trängde folket på från alla håll.43 I folkhopen fanns då också en kvinna som hade lidit av blödningar i tolv år och inte blivit frisk, trots att hon lagt ut allt hon ägde på läkare.

44 Kvinnan närmade sig nu Jesus bakifrån och rörde vid tofsen på hans mantel. Och genast stannade blödningen!
45 "Vem rörde vid mig?" frågade Jesus. Och då alla teg, sa Petrus: "Mästare, det är ju så många som knuffas och tränger sig på överallt."

46 Men Jesus sa till honom: "Nej, det var någon som medvetet rörde vid mig, för jag kände att det gick ut kraft från mig."

47 När kvinnan förstod att Jesus hade upptäckt vad hon gjort, kom hon darrande fram och föll ner för honom.t Sedan berättade hon varför hon hade rört vid honom och att hon genast blivit frisk.

48 "Min dotter", sa han till henne, "din tro har hjälpt dig. Gå i frid."
49 Medan Jesus fortfarande talade med kvinnan, kom det en budbärare från Jairos hus och meddelade pappan: "Din lilla flicka har dött. Det är ingen idé att du stör Mästaren längre."

50 Men då Jesus hörde vad som hade hänt, sa han till Jairos: "Var inte rädd! Tro bara, så ska hon bli bra igen!"
51 När de sedan kom fram till huset lät inte Jesus någon följa med in utom Petrus, Jakob och Johannes och den lilla flickans pappa och mamma.

52 Därinne var det fullt av människor som grät och höll dödsklagan över flickan, men Jesus sa: "Gråt inte! Hon är inte död, hon sover bara!"
53 Då hånskrattade folket åt Jesus, för de visste ju att hon hade dött.54 Men Jesus tog hennes hand och sa högt: "Flicka, ställ dig upp!"55 Och genast återvände hennes ande och hon reste sig upp! Sedan sa Jesus till dem att ge henne något att äta.

56 Hennes föräldrar blev alldeles häpna, men Jesus förbjöd dem att berätta för någon vad som hade hänt.

Luke 8

Jesus’ Ministry and the Help of Women

1 Some timet afterwardt he went on through townst and villages, preaching and proclaiming the good newss of the kingdom of God.s Thet twelve were with him,2 and also some womens who had been healed of evil spirits and disabilities:t Marys (called Magdalene), from whom seven demons had gone out,

3 and Joanna the wife of Cuzas (Herod’ss household manager),t Susanna, and many others who provided for thems out of their own resources.

The Parable of the Sower

4 While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesust from one town after another,t he spoke to themt in a parable:5 “A sower went out to sows his seed.t And as he sowed, some fell along the path and was trampled on, and the wild birdst devoured it.6 Other seed fell on rock,s and when it came up, it withered because it had no moisture.7 Other seed fell among the thorns,s and they grew up with it and chokeds it.

8 Butt other seed fell on good soil and grew,t and it produced a hundred times as much grain.”s As he said this,t he called out, “The one who has ears to hear had better listen!”t
9 Thent his disciples asked him what this parable meant.t

10 Het said, “You have been givent the opportunity to knowt the secretsts of the kingdom of God,s but for others they are in parables, so that although they see they may not see, and although they hear they may not understand.s
11 “Now the parable meanst this: The seed is the word of God.12 Those along the path are the ones who have heard; then the devils comes and takes away the words from their hearts, so that they may not believet and be saved.13 Thoset on the rock are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while,s butt in a time of testingt fall away.s14 As for the seed thatt fell among thorns, these are the ones who hear, butt as they go on their way they are chokeds by the worries and riches and pleasures of life,s and their fruit does not mature.t

15 But as for the seed that landed on good soil, these are the ones who, after hearingt the word, cling to its with an honest and goods heart, and bear fruit with steadfast endurance.s

Showing the Light

16 “No one lightst a lamps and then covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand so that those who come in can see the light.t17 For nothing is hiddens that will not be revealed,t and nothing concealed that will not be made known and brought to light.

18 So listen carefully,t for whoever has will be given more, butt whoever does not have, even what he thinks he hass will be taken from him.”

Jesus’ True Family

19 Now Jesus’t mother and his brotherss came to him, butt they could not get near him because of the crowd.20 Sot he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”

21 But he repliedt to them, “My mother and my brothers are thoset who hear the word of God and do it.”s

Stilling of a Storm

22 Onet day Jesust got into a boats with his disciples and said to them, “Let’s go across to the other side of the lake.” Sot they set out,23 and as they sailed he fell asleep. Now a violent windstormt came down on the lake,s and the boatt started filling up with water, and they were in danger.24 Theyt camet and woke him, saying, “Master, Master,t we are about to die!” Sot he got up and rebukedt the wind and the raging waves;s they died down, and it was calm.

25 Thent he said to them, “Where is your faith?”s But they were afraid and amazed,s saying to one another, “Who then is this? He commands even the winds and the water,s and they obey him!”

Healing of a Demoniac

26 Sot they sailed over to the region of the Gerasenes,ss which is opposites Galilee.27 Ast Jesust stepped ashore,t a certain man from the townt met him who was possessed by demons.t For a long time this mant had worn no clothes and had not lived in a house, but amongt the tombs.28 When he sawt Jesus, he cried out, fellt down before him, and shouted with a loud voice, “Leave me alone,t Jesus, Son of the Most Highs God! I beg you, do not torments me!”29 For Jesust had started commandings the evilt spirit to come out of the man. (For it had seized him many times, sot he would be bound with chains and shacklest and kept under guard. Butt he would break the restraints and be driven by the demon into desertedt places.)s30 Jesus thent asked him, “What is your name?” Het said, “Legion,”s because many demons had entered him.31 And they began to begt him not to ordert them to depart into the abyss.t32 Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside,t and the demonic spiritst begged Jesust to let them go into them. He gave them permission.s33 Sot the demons came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd of pigst rushed down the steep slope into the lake and drowned.34 Whent the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran off and spread the newst in the townt and countryside.35 Sot the people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus. Theyt found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid.36 Thoset who had seen it told them how the man who had been demon-possessed had been healed.t37 Thent all the people of the Gerasenesss and the surrounding regiont asked Jesust to leave them alone,t for they were seized with great fear.s Sot he got into the boat and left.t38 The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to got with him, but Jesust sent him away, saying,

39 “Return to your home,t and declaret what God has done for you.”s Sot he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole townt what Jesuss had done for him.

Restoration and Healing

40 Now when Jesus returned,ts the crowd welcomed him, because they were all waiting for him.41 Thent a man named Jairus, who was a rulert of the synagogue,s came up. Fallingt at Jesus’ feet, he pleadedt with him to come to his house,

42 because he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying.t
As Jesus was on his way, the crowds presseds around him.43 Nowt a woman was there who had been suffering from a hemorrhaget for twelve yearss but could not be healed by anyone.44 Shet came up behind Jesust and touched the edges of his cloak,t and at once the bleedingts stopped.45 Thent Jesus asked,t “Who was it who touched me?” When they all denied it, Peters said, “Master, the crowds are surrounding you and pressings against you!”46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I know that power has gone outt from me.”47 Whent the woman saw that she could not escape notice,t she came trembling and fell down before him. Int the presence of all the people, she explained whyt she had touched him and how she had been immediately healed.

48 Thent he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well.t Go in peace.”
49 While he was still speaking, someone from the synagogue ruler’st house came and said, “Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the teacher any longer.”50 But when Jesus heard this, he toldt him, “Do not be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”t51 Now when he came to the house, Jesust did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John,t and James, and the child’s father and mother.52 Now they were alls wailing and mourningt for her, but he said, “Stop your weeping; she is not dead but asleep.”53 And they began making funt of him, because they knewt that she was dead.t54 But Jesust gently took her by the hand and said,t “Child, get up.”55 Hert spirit returned,s and she got up immediately. Thent he told them to give her something to eat.

56 Hert parents were astonished, but he ordered them to tell no ones what had happened.
