Mujeres que sirven a Jesús
1 Aconteció después, que Jesús iba por todas las ciudades y aldeas, predicando y anunciando el evangelio del reino de Dios, y los doce con él, 2 y algunas mujeres que habían sido sanadas de espíritus malos y de enfermedades: María, que se llamaba Magdalena, de la que habían salido siete demonios,
3 Juana, mujer de Chuza intendente de Herodes, y Susana, y otras muchas que le servían de sus bienes.tParábola del sembrador

4 Juntándose una gran multitud, y los que de cada ciudad venían a él, les dijo por parábola: 5 El sembrador salió a sembrar su semilla; y mientras sembraba, una parte cayó junto al camino, y fue hollada, y las aves del cielo la comieron. 6 Otra parte cayó sobre la piedra; y nacida, se secó, porque no tenía humedad. 7 Otra parte cayó entre espinos, y los espinos que nacieron juntamente con ella, la ahogaron.
8 Y otra parte cayó en buena tierra, y nació y llevó fruto a ciento por uno. Hablando estas cosas, decía a gran voz: El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga.
9 Y sus discípulos le preguntaron, diciendo: ¿Qué significa esta parábola? 10 Y él dijo: A vosotros os es dado conocer los misterios del reino de Dios; pero a los otros por parábolas, para que viendo no vean, y oyendo no entiendan.t 11 Ésta es, pues, la parábola: La semilla es la palabra de Dios. 12 Y los de junto al camino son los que oyen, y luego viene el diablo y quita de su corazón la palabra, para que no crean y se salven. 13 Los de sobre la piedra son los que habiendo oído, reciben la palabra con gozo; pero éstos no tienen raíces; creen por algún tiempo, y en el tiempo de la prueba se apartan. 14 La que cayó entre espinos, éstos son los que oyen, pero yéndose, son ahogados por los afanes y las riquezas y los placeres de la vida, y no llevan fruto.
15 Mas la que cayó en buena tierra, éstos son los que con corazón bueno y recto retienen la palabra oída, y dan fruto con perseverancia.Nada oculto que no haya de ser manifestado

16 Nadie que enciende una luz la cubre con una vasija, ni la pone debajo de la cama, sino que la pone en un candelerot para que los que entran vean la luz. 17 Porque nada hay oculto, que no haya de ser manifestado; ni escondido, que no haya de ser conocido, y de salir a luz.t
18 Mirad, pues, cómo oís; porque a todo el que tiene, se le dará; y a todo el que no tiene, aun lo que piensa tener se le quitará.tLa madre y los hermanos de Jesús

19 Entonces su madre y sus hermanos vinieron a él; pero no podían llegar hasta él por causa de la multitud. 20 Y se le avisó, diciendo: Tu madre y tus hermanos están fuera y quieren verte.
21 Él entonces respondiendo, les dijo: Mi madre y mis hermanos son los que oyen la palabra de Dios, y la hacen.Jesús calma la tempestad

22 Aconteció un día, que entró en una barca con sus discípulos, y les dijo: Pasemos al otro lado del lago. Y partieron. 23 Pero mientras navegaban, él se durmió. Y se desencadenó una tempestad de viento en el lago; y se anegaban y peligraban. 24 Y vinieron a él y le despertaron, diciendo: ¡Maestro, Maestro, que perecemos! Despertando él, reprendió al viento y a las olas; y cesaron, y se hizo bonanza.
25 Y les dijo: ¿Dónde está vuestra fe? Y atemorizados, se maravillaban, y se decían unos a otros: ¿Quién es éste, que aun a los vientos y a las aguas manda, y le obedecen?El endemoniado gadareno

26 Y arribaron a la tierra de los gadarenos, que está en la ribera opuesta a Galilea. 27 Al llegar él a tierra, vino a su encuentro un hombre de la ciudad, endemoniado desde hacía mucho tiempo; y no vestía ropa, ni moraba en casa, sino en los sepulcros. 28 Éste, al ver a Jesús, lanzó un gran grito, y postrándose a sus pies exclamó a gran voz: ¿Qué tienes conmigo, Jesús, Hijo del Dios Altísimo? Te ruego que no me atormentes. 29 (Porque mandaba al espíritu inmundo que saliese del hombre, pues hacía mucho tiempo que se había apoderado de él; y le ataban con cadenas y grillos, pero rompiendo las cadenas, era impelido por el demonio a los desiertos.) 30 Y le preguntó Jesús, diciendo: ¿Cómo te llamas? Y él dijo: Legión. Porque muchos demonios habían entrado en él. 31 Y le rogaban que no los mandase ir al abismo. 32 Había allí un hato de muchos cerdos que pacían en el monte; y le rogaron que los dejase entrar en ellos; y les dio permiso.
33 Y los demonios, salidos del hombre, entraron en los cerdos; y el hato se precipitó por un despeñadero al lago, y se ahogó.
34 Y los que apacentaban los cerdos, cuando vieron lo que había acontecido, huyeron, y yendo dieron aviso en la ciudad y por los campos. 35 Y salieron a ver lo que había sucedido; y vinieron a Jesús, y hallaron al hombre de quien habían salido los demonios, sentado a los pies de Jesús, vestido, y en su cabal juicio; y tuvieron miedo. 36 Y los que lo habían visto, les contaron cómo había sido salvado el endemoniado. 37 Entonces toda la multitud de la región alrededor de los gadarenos le rogó que se marchase de ellos, pues tenían gran temor. Y Jesús, entrando en la barca, se volvió. 38 Y el hombre de quien habían salido los demonios le rogaba que le dejase estar con él; pero Jesús le despidió, diciendo:
39 Vuélvete a tu casa, y cuenta cuán grandes cosas ha hecho Dios contigo. Y él se fue, publicando por toda la ciudad cuán grandes cosas había hecho Jesús con él.La hija de Jairo, y la mujer que tocó el manto de Jesús

40 Cuando volvió Jesús, le recibió la multitud con gozo; porque todos le esperaban. 41 Entonces vino un varón llamado Jairo, que era principal de la sinagoga, y postrándose a los pies de Jesús, le rogaba que entrase en su casa;
42 porque tenía una hija única, como de doce años, que se estaba muriendo.
Y mientras iba, la multitud le oprimía. 43 Pero una mujer que padecía de flujo de sangre desde hacía doce años, y que había gastado en médicos todo cuanto tenía, y por ninguno había podido ser curada, 44 se le acercó por detrás y tocó el borde de su manto; y al instante se detuvo el flujo de su sangre. 45 Entonces Jesús dijo: ¿Quién es el que me ha tocado? Y negando todos, dijo Pedro y los que con él estaban: Maestro, la multitud te aprieta y oprime, y dices: ¿Quién es el que me ha tocado? 46 Pero Jesús dijo: Alguien me ha tocado; porque yo he conocido que ha salido poder de mí. 47 Entonces, cuando la mujer vio que no había quedado oculta, vino temblando, y postrándose a sus pies, le declaró delante de todo el pueblo por qué causa le había tocado, y cómo al instante había sido sanada.
48 Y él le dijo: Hija, tu fe te ha salvado; ve en paz.
49 Estaba hablando aún, cuando vino uno de casa del principal de la sinagoga a decirle: Tu hija ha muerto; no molestes más al Maestro. 50 Oyéndolo Jesús, le respondió: No temas; cree solamente, y será salva. 51 Entrando en la casa, no dejó entrar a nadie consigo, sino a Pedro, a Jacobo, a Juan, y al padre y a la madre de la niña. 52 Y lloraban todos y hacían lamentación por ella. Pero él dijo: No lloréis; no está muerta, sino que duerme. 53 Y se burlaban de él, sabiendo que estaba muerta. 54 Mas él, tomándola de la mano, clamó diciendo: Muchacha, levántate. 55 Entonces su espíritu volvió, e inmediatamente se levantó; y él mandó que se le diese de comer. 56 Y sus padres estaban atónitos; pero Jesús les mandó que a nadie dijesen lo que había sucedido.

Women Who Helped Jesus
1 Soon after this, Jesus was going through towns and villages, telling the good news about God's kingdom. His twelve apostles were with him, 2 t and so were some women who had been healed of evil spirits and all sorts of diseases. One of the women was Mary Magdalene, t who once had seven demons in her.
3 Joanna, Susanna, and many others had also used what they owned to help Jesust and his disciples. Joanna's husband Chuza was one of Herod's officials.tA Story about a Farmer
(Matthew 13.1-9; Mark 4.1-9)
4 When a large crowd from several towns had gathered around Jesus, he told them this story:
5 A farmer went out to scatter seed in a field. While the farmer was doing this, some of the seeds fell along the road and were stepped on or eaten by birds. 6 Other seeds fell on rocky ground and started growing. But the plants did not have enough water and soon dried up. 7 Some other seeds fell where thornbushes grew up and choked the plants.
8 The rest of the seeds fell on good ground where they grew and produced a hundred times as many seeds.
When Jesus had finished speaking, he said, “If you have ears, pay attention!”Why Jesus Used Stories

9 Jesus' disciples asked him what the story meant.
10 t So he answered:
I have explained the secrets about God's kingdom to you. But for others I use stories, so they will look, but not see, and they will hear, but not understand.Jesus Explains the Story //about a Farmer
(Matthew 13.18-23; Mark 4.13-20)
11 This is what the story means: The seed is God's message, 12 and the seeds that fell along the road are the people who hear the message. But the devil comes and snatches the message out of their hearts, so they will not believe and be saved.
13 The seeds that fell on rocky ground are the people who gladly hear the message and accept it. But they don't have deep roots, and they believe only for a little while. As soon as life gets hard, they give up.
14 The seeds that fell among the thornbushes are also people who hear the message. But they are so eager for riches and pleasures that they never produce anything.
15 Those seeds that fell on good ground are the people who listen to the message and keep it in good and honest hearts. They last and produce a harvest.Light

16 t No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl or under a bed. A lamp is always put on a lampstand, so people who come into a house will see the light. 17 t There is nothing hidden that will not be found. There is no secret that will not be well known.
18 t Pay attention to how you listen! Everyone who has something will be given more, but people who have nothing will lose what little they think they have.Jesus' Mother and Brothers

19 Jesus' mother and brothers went to see him, but because of the crowd they could not get near him.
20 Someone told Jesus, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside and want to see you.”
21 Jesus answered, “My mother and my brothers are those people who hear and obey God's message.”A Storm
(Matthew 8.23-27; Mark 4.35-41)
22 One day, Jesus and his disciples got into a boat, and he said, “Let's cross the lake.”t They started out,
23 and while they were sailing across, he went to sleep.
Suddenly a storm struck the lake, and the boat started sinking. They were in danger.
24 So they went to Jesus and woke him up, “Master, Master! We are about to drown!”
Jesus got up and ordered the wind and waves to stop. They obeyed, and everything was calm.
25 Then Jesus asked the disciples, “Don't you have any faith?”
But they were frightened and amazed. They said to each other, “Who is this? He can give orders to the wind and the waves, and they obey him!”A Man with Demons in Him
(Matthew 8.28-34; Mark 5.1-20)
26 Jesus and his disciples sailed across Lake Galilee and came to shore near the town of Gerasa.t
27 As Jesus was getting out of the boat, he was met by a man from this town. The man had demons in him. He had gone naked for a long time and no longer lived in a house, but in the graveyard.t
28 The man saw Jesus and screamed. He knelt down in front of him and shouted, “Jesus, Son of God Most High, what do you want with me? I beg you not to torture me!”
29 He said this because Jesus had already told the evil spirit to go out of him.
The man had often been attacked by the demon. And even though he had been bound with chains and leg irons and kept under guard, he smashed whatever bound him. Then the demon would force him out into lonely places.
30 Jesus asked the man, “What is your name?”
He answered, “My name is Lots.” He said this because there were “lots” of demons in him.
31 They begged Jesus not to send them to the deep pit, t where they would be punished.
32 A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. So the demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and Jesus let them go.
33 Then the demons left the man and went into the pigs. The whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned.
34 When the men taking care of the pigs saw this, they ran to spread the news in the town and on the farms.
35 The people went out to see what had happened, and when they came to Jesus, they also found the man. The demons had gone out of him, and he was sitting there at the feet of Jesus. He had clothes on and was in his right mind. But the people were terrified.
36 Then all who had seen the man healed told about it.
37 Everyone from around Gerasat begged Jesus to leave, because they were so frightened.
When Jesus got into the boat to start back, 38 the man who had been healed begged to go with him. But Jesus sent him off and said,
39 “Go back home and tell everyone how much God has done for you.” The man then went all over town, telling everything that Jesus had done for him.A Dying Girl and a Sick Woman
(Matthew 9.18-26; Mark 5.21-43)
40 Everyone had been waiting for Jesus, and when he came back, a crowd was there to welcome him. 41 Just then the man in charge of the synagogue came and knelt down in front of Jesus. His name was Jairus, and he begged Jesus to come to his home
42 because his twelve-year-old child was dying. She was his only daughter.
While Jesus was on his way, people were crowding all around him.
43 In the crowd was a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years. She had spent everything she had on doctors, t but none of them could make her well.
44 As soon as she came up behind Jesus and barely touched his clothes, her bleeding stopped.
45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked.
While everyone was denying it, Peter said, “Master, people are crowding all around and pushing you from every side.”t
46 But Jesus answered, “Someone touched me, because I felt power going out from me.”
47 The woman knew that she could not hide, so she came trembling and knelt down in front of Jesus. She told everyone why she had touched him and that she had been healed at once.
48 Jesus said to the woman, “You are now well because of your faith. May God give you peace!”
49 While Jesus was speaking, someone came from Jairus' home and said, “Your daughter has died! Why bother the teacher anymore?”
50 When Jesus heard this, he told Jairus, “Don't worry! Have faith, and your daughter will get well.”
51 Jesus went into the house, but he did not let anyone else go with him, except Peter, John, James, and the girl's father and mother. 52 Everyone was crying and weeping for the girl. But Jesus said, “The child isn't dead. She is just asleep.”
53 The people laughed at him because they knew she was dead.
54 Jesus took hold of the girl's hand and said, “Child, get up!” 55 She came back to life and got right up. Jesus told them to give her something to eat. 56 Her parents were surprised, but Jesus ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.
