LUCAS 9

Ginpadala ni Jesus ang Iya Dose ka Apostoles

(Mat. 10:5-15; Mar. 6:7-13)

1  it Sang isa ka adlaw gintipon ni Jesus ang dose niya ka apostoles . Ginhatagan niya sila sang awtoridad kag gahom sa pagtabog sang tanan nga malaot nga mga espiritu kag sa pagpang-ayo sang mga balatian.2  Dayon ginsugo niya sila nga magpangwali parte sa paghari sang Dios kag magpang-ayo sang mga masakiton .3 Ginsilingan niya sila,4 Kon padayunon kamo sa isa ka balay, dira gid lang kamo magdayon hasta maghalin kamo sa sina nga lugar.5 Pero kon ang mga tawo sa isa ka lugar indi magbaton sa inyo, bayai ninyo ina nga lugar; kag sa paghalin ninyo, taktaka ninyo ang yab-ok sa inyo tiil bilang paandam batok sa ila."

6 Dayon naglakat ang iya mga apostoles kag naglibot sa mga baryo nga nagawali sang Maayong Balita kag nagapang-ayo sang mga masakiton.

Naglibog ang Ulo ni Herodes Parte kay Jesus

(Mat. 14:1-12; Mar. 6:14-29)

7  Ang balita parte sa ginahimo nila ni Jesus nakaabot kay Herodes nga pangulo sang Galilea . Naglibog gid ang ulo ni Herodes kay may mga tawo nga nagasiling,8 May iban man nga nagasiling, Kag may iban pa gid nga nagasiling,

9 Nagsiling si Herodes, Gani nagtinguha gid si Herodes nga makita niya si Jesus.

Ginpakaon ni Jesus ang 5,000 ka Tawo

(Mat. 14:13-21; Mar. 6:30-44; Juan 6:1-14)

10 Pagbalik sang mga apostoles ni Jesus, ginsugid nila sa iya kon ano ang ila mga nahimo. Dayon gindala sila ni Jesus sa banwa sang Betsaida. Wala siya sing may ginpaupod nga iban.

11  Pero pagkahibalo sang mga tawo nga nakahalin na sila ni Jesus, nagsunod sila. Pag-abot nila didto, ginbaton sila ni Jesus kag ginhambalan parte sa paghari sang Dios. Kag ginpang-ayo man niya ang mga masakiton.
12  Sang lapit na lang magsalop ang adlaw, nagpalapit sa iya ang iya dose ka apostoles kag nagsiling,13 Pero nagsiling si Jesus, Nagsabat sila,14 (Ang kadamuon sang mga lalaki lang mga 5,000.) Gani nagsiling si Jesus sa iya mga sumulunod,15 Gintuman nila ang sugo ni Jesus kag ginpapungko nila ang tanan nga tawo.16  Dayon ginkuha ni Jesus ang lima ka tinapay kag duha ka isda, kag nagtangla siya sa langit kag nagpasalamat sa Dios . Pagkatapos ginpamihak-pihak niya ang tinapay kag ginhatag sa iya mga sumulunod agod ipanagtag sa mga tawo.

17  Nakakaon sila tanan kag nagkalabusog. Pagkatapos kaon, gintipon nila ang mga nabilin, kag dose pa ka alat ang napuno.

Ang Ginpabutyag ni Pedro Parte kay Jesus

(Mat. 16:13-19; Mar. 8:27-29)

18 Isa ka adlaw nagapangamuyo si Jesus nga siya lang. Ang iya mga sumulunod ara sa iya tupad. Nagpamangkot si Jesus sa ila,19 Nagsabat sila,

20 Nagsiling si Jesus sa ila, Nagsabat si Pedro,

Naghambal si Jesus Parte sa Iya Palaabuton nga Pag-antos kag Kamatayon

(Mat. 16:20-28; Mar. 8:30-9:1)

21 Dayon ginmanduan sila ni Jesus nga indi gid sila magpanugid bisan kay sin-o nga siya amo ang Cristo.

22 Nagsiling siya,
23 Dayon nagsiling si Jesus sa tanan nga tawo didto,24  Kay ang bisan sin-o nga luyag magluwas sang iya kabuhi madula niya ini. Pero ang bisan sin-o nga maghalad sang iya kabuhi tungod sa akon makaangkon sang kabuhi nga wala sing katapusan .25  Ano gid bala ang makuha sang tawo kon maangkon niya ang tanan nga butang diri sa kalibutan, pero mawala ang iya kabuhi? Wala gid! 26  Kay ang bisan sin-o nga nagakahuya sa akon kag sa akon mga ginatudlo, igakahuya ko man kon ako nga Anak sang Tawo magbalik na nga nagasilak sa gahom nga halin sa akon kag sa Amay kag sa mga anghel.

27 Sa pagkamatuod, may mga tawo diri nga indi pa mapatay hasta makita nila ang paghari sang Dios."

Ang Pagbalhin sang Dagway ni Jesus

(Mat. 17:1-8; Mar. 9:2-8)

28 Mga walo ka adlaw pagkatapos nga ginhambal ni Jesus ini, gindala niya si Pedro, si Juan, kag si Santiago pataklad sa bukid agod magpangamuyo.29 Sang nagapangamuyo si Jesus nagbalhin ang iya dagway, kag ang iya bayo nagputi gid kag masilaw.30 Hinali lang may nagpakita nga duha ka tawo nga nagapakighambal sa iya. Sila amo si Moises kag si Elias.31 Nagasilak man sila kag nagapakighambal sila kay Jesus parte sa iya kamatayon nga madali na lang matuman sa Jerusalem.32 Nagakatulog sila ni Pedro sing mahamuok. Pero nakamata sila, kag nakita nila si Jesus nga nagasilak kag ang duha ka tawo nga nagatindog sa iya tupad.33 Sang manughalin na ang duha ka tawo kay Jesus, nagsiling si Pedro sa iya, (Ang matuod, wala nakahibalo si Pedro kon ano ang iya ginahambal.)34 Wala pa makatapos hambal si Pedro ginlikupan sila sang panganod. Hinadlukan sila ni Pedro sang magtabon sa ila ang panganod.35 Dayon may nabatian sila nga tingog halin sa panganod nga nagasiling,

36 Sang nag-untat na ang tingog, nakita nila nga si Jesus na lang ang nabilin. Ginhipsan lang anay nila ni Pedro ang ila nakita pagkasunod nga mga inadlaw.

Gin-ayo ni Jesus ang Bata nga May Malaot nga Espiritu

(Mat. 17:14-18; Mar. 9:14-27)

37 Sang madason nga adlaw, nagdulhog sila halin sa bukid. Madamo nga mga tawo ang nagsugata kay Jesus.38 Didto sa kadam-an may isa ka tawo nga nagsinggit,39 Permi siya ginasudlan sang malaot nga espiritu. Kon mag-abot gani, gulpi lang siya nagasiagit, nagakurog, kag nagabura ang iya baba. Indi maghalin sa iya ang malaot nga espiritu kon indi niya anay masakit sing tudo gid ang akon bata.40 Ginpangabay ko ang imo mga sumulunod nga tabugon ini, pero indi sila makasarang."41 Dayon nagsiling si Jesus,42 Sang nagapalapit kay Jesus ang bata, ginlampos siya sang malaot nga espiritu sa duta kag ginpakurog. Pero gintabog ni Jesus ang malaot nga espiritu kag gin-ayo niya ang bata. Dayon ginbalik niya siya sa iya amay.

43 Natingala gid ang tanan nga tawo sa dako nga gahom sang Dios.
Sang nagakatingala pa ang mga tawo sa tanan nga ginhimo ni Jesus, nagsiling siya sa iya mga sumulunod,

Naghambal Liwat si Jesus Parte sa Iya Kamatayon

(Mat. 17:22-23; Mar. 9:30-32)

45 Pero wala sila makaintiendi sini kay ginlipod ini sa ila hunahuna agod indi nila maintiendihan. Kag natahap sila magpamangkot sa iya parte sa sini nga butang.

Sin-o gid ang Labaw sa Tanan?

(Mat. 18:1-5; Mar. 9:33-37)

46  it May isa ka tion nga nagbinaisay ang iya mga sumulunod kon sin-o gid sa ila ang labaw sa tanan.47 Pero nahibaluan ni Jesus ang ila ginahunahuna. Gani nagkuha siya sang gamay nga bata kag ginpatindog sa iya kilid.

48 Dayon nagsiling siya,

Ang Indi Kontra sa Inyo Kadampig Ninyo

(Mar. 9:38-40)

49 Nagsiling si Juan kay Jesus,

50 Pero nagsiling si Jesus sa iya,

Wala Pagbatuna si Jesus sa isa ka Baryo sa Samaria

51 Sang madali na lang ang adlaw nga si Jesus dal-on pa-langit, nagdesisyon siya nga magkadto na sa Jerusalem.52 Gani may ginpauna siya nga mga tawo sa isa ka baryo sa Samaria agod magpreparar sang iya dalayunan.53 Pero ang mga tawo sa sadto nga baryo wala magbaton sa iya kay nahibaluan nila nga makadto siya sa Jerusalem.54 Pagkahibalo sini sang iya mga sumulunod nga si Santiago kag si Juan, nagsiling sila kay Jesus,55  Pero ginbalikid sila ni Jesus kag ginsaway. + 55 Ang iban nga mga kopya sang Griego may sugpon pa sa bersikulo 55 kag 56: Wala kamo kahibalo kon ano nga klase sang espiritu ang yara sa inyo. Kay nagkari ang Anak sang Tawo indi sa paglalag sa mga tawo kundi sa pagluwas sa ila.

56 Kag nagderetso na lang sila sa iban nga baryo.

Ang mga Sumulunod ni Jesus

(Mat. 8:19-22)

57 Sang nagapadayon sila sa ila pagpanglakaton, may isa ka tawo nga nagsiling kay Jesus,58 Nagsiling si Jesus sa iya,59  Dayon nagsiling si Jesus sa isa, Nagsabat ang tawo, + 59 mapauli anay ako sa paglubong sang akon amay: Siguro ang buot silingon sang tawo, mapauli anay siya sa wala pa mapatay ang iya amay, kag kon patay na kag nalubong na, masunod siya kay Jesus. f 60 Nagsabat si Jesus sa iya,61 May isa pa gid nga nagsiling kay Jesus,62  Nagsabat si Jesus sa iya, + 62 Ang buot silingon, ang tawo nga nagaarado nga nagabulobalikid, indi mapuslan ang iya pag-arado. Pareho man sina ang tawo nga nagasunod kay Jesus nga may ginapamalikdan, indi mapuslan ang iya pag-alagad sa idalom sang paghari sang Dios. f

Luke 9

Keep It Simple

1-5 Jesus now called the Twelve and gave them authority and power to deal with all the demons and cure diseases. He commissioned them to preach the news of God's kingdom and heal the sick. He said, "Don't load yourselves up with equipment. Keep it simple; you are the equipment. And no luxury inns—get a modest place and be content there until you leave. If you're not welcomed, leave town. Don't make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and move on."

6 Commissioned, they left. They traveled from town to town telling the latest news of God, the Message, and curing people everywhere they went.

7-9 Herod, the ruler, heard of these goings on and didn't know what to think. There were people saying John had come back from the dead, others that Elijah had appeared, still others that some prophet of long ago had shown up. Herod said, "But I killed John—took off his head. So who is this that I keep hearing about?" Curious, he looked for a chance to see him in action.

10-11 The apostles returned and reported on what they had done. Jesus took them away, off by themselves, near the town called Bethsaida. But the crowds got wind of it and followed. Jesus graciously welcomed them and talked to them about the kingdom of God. Those who needed healing, he healed.

Bread and Fish for Five Thousand

12 As the day declined, the Twelve said, "Dismiss the crowd so they can go to the farms or villages around here and get a room for the night and a bite to eat. We're out in the middle of nowhere."

13-14 "You feed them," Jesus said.
They said, "We couldn't scrape up more than five loaves of bread and a couple of fish—unless, of course, you want us to go to town ourselves and buy food for everybody." (There were more than five thousand people in the crowd.)

15-17 But he went ahead and directed his disciples, "Sit them down in groups of about fifty." They did what he said, and soon had everyone seated. He took the five loaves and two fish, lifted his face to heaven in prayer, blessed, broke, and gave the bread and fish to the disciples to hand out to the crowd. After the people had all eaten their fill, twelve baskets of leftovers were gathered up.

Don't Run from Suffering

18 One time when Jesus was off praying by himself, his disciples nearby, he asked them, "What are the crowds saying about me, about who I am?"

19 They said, "John the Baptizer. Others say Elijah. Still others say that one of the prophets from long ago has come back."

20-21 He then asked, "And you—what are you saying about me? Who am I?"
Peter answered, "The Messiah of God." Jesus then warned them to keep it quiet. They were to tell no one what Peter had said.

22 He went on, "It is necessary that the Son of Man proceed to an ordeal of suffering, be tried and found guilty by the religious leaders, high priests, and religion scholars, be killed, and on the third day be raised up alive."

23-27 Then he told them what they could expect for themselves: "Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You're not in the driver's seat—I am. Don't run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I'll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What good would it do to get everything you want and lose you, the real you? If any of you is embarrassed with me and the way I'm leading you, know that the Son of Man will be far more embarrassed with you when he arrives in all his splendor in company with the Father and the holy angels. This isn't, you realize, pie in the sky by and by. Some who have taken their stand right here are going to see it happen, see with their own eyes the kingdom of God."

Jesus in His Glory

28-31 About eight days after saying this, he climbed the mountain to pray, taking Peter, John, and James along. While he was in prayer, the appearance of his face changed and his clothes became blinding white. At once two men were there talking with him. They turned out to be Moses and Elijah—and what a glorious appearance they made! They talked over his exodus, the one Jesus was about to complete in Jerusalem.

32-33 Meanwhile, Peter and those with him were slumped over in sleep. When they came to, rubbing their eyes, they saw Jesus in his glory and the two men standing with him. When Moses and Elijah had left, Peter said to Jesus, "Master, this is a great moment! Let's build three memorials: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah." He blurted this out without thinking.

34-35 While he was babbling on like this, a light-radiant cloud enveloped them. As they found themselves buried in the cloud, they became deeply aware of God. Then there was a voice out of the cloud: "This is my Son, the Chosen! Listen to him."

36 When the sound of the voice died away, they saw Jesus there alone. They were speechless. And they continued speechless, said not one thing to anyone during those days of what they had seen.

37-40 When they came down off the mountain the next day, a big crowd was there to meet them. A man called from out of the crowd, "Please, please, Teacher, take a look at my son. He's my only child. Often a spirit seizes him. Suddenly he's screaming, thrown into convulsions, his mouth foaming. And then it beats him black-and-blue before it leaves. I asked your disciples to deliver him but they couldn't."

41 Jesus said, "What a generation! No sense of God! No focus to your lives! How many times do I have to go over these things? How much longer do I have to put up with this? Bring your son here."

42-43 While he was coming, the demon slammed him to the ground and threw him into convulsions. Jesus stepped in, ordered the vile spirit gone, healed the boy, and handed him back to his father. They all shook their heads in wonder, astonished at God's greatness, God's majestic greatness.

Your Business Is Life

44 While they continued to stand around exclaiming over all the things he was doing, Jesus said to his disciples, "Treasure and ponder each of these next words: The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into human hands."

45 They didn't get what he was saying. It was like he was speaking a foreign language and they couldn't make heads or tails of it. But they were embarrassed to ask him what he meant.

46-48 They started arguing over which of them would be most famous. When Jesus realized how much this mattered to them, he brought a child to his side. "Whoever accepts this child as if the child were me, accepts me," he said. "And whoever accepts me, accepts the One who sent me. You become great by accepting, not asserting. Your spirit, not your size, makes the difference."

49 John spoke up, "Master, we saw a man using your name to expel demons and we stopped him because he wasn't of our group."

50 Jesus said, "Don't stop him. If he's not an enemy, he's an ally."

51-54 When it came close to the time for his Ascension, he gathered up his courage and steeled himself for the journey to Jerusalem. He sent messengers on ahead. They came to a Samaritan village to make arrangements for his hospitality. But when the Samaritans learned that his destination was Jerusalem, they refused hospitality. When the disciples James and John learned of it, they said, "Master, do you want us to call a bolt of lightning down out of the sky and incinerate them?"

55-56 Jesus turned on them: "Of course not!" And they traveled on to another village.

57 On the road someone asked if he could go along. "I'll go with you, wherever," he said.

58 Jesus was curt: "Are you ready to rough it? We're not staying in the best inns, you know."
Jesus said to another, "Follow me."

59 He said, "Certainly, but first excuse me for a couple of days, please. I have to make arrangements for my father's funeral."

60 Jesus refused. "First things first. Your business is life, not death. And life is urgent: Announce God's kingdom!"

61 Then another said, "I'm ready to follow you, Master, but first excuse me while I get things straightened out at home."

62 Jesus said, "No procrastination. No backward looks. You can't put God's kingdom off till tomorrow. Seize the day."
