Døyparen Johannes står fram
(Matt 3,1–12; Luk 3,1–18; Joh 1,19–28)
1 Dette er opphavet til evangeliet om Jesus Kristus, Guds Son.
2 Hjå profeten Jesaja står det skrive:t
Sjå, eg sender min bodberar ¬føre deg,
han skal rydja vegen for deg.
3 Ei røyst ropar i øydemarka:
Ryd veg for Herren,
gjer stigane hans rette! t
4 Såleis stod døyparen Johannes fram i øydemarka. Han ropa ut at folket skulle venda om og la seg døypa så dei kunne få tilgjeving for syndene sine. t t 5 Frå heile Judea og Jerusalem drog alle ut til han; og han døypte dei i Jordan-elva, medan dei sanna syndene sine. 6 Johannes gjekk i ei kappe av kamelhår og hadde eit lerbelte om livet, og maten hans var grashopper og vill honning. t 7 Han forkynte: «Etter meg kjem han som er sterkare enn eg. Eg er ikkje eingong verdig til å bøya meg ned og løysa sandalreima hans.
8 Eg har døypt dykk med vatn, men han skal døypa dykk med Den Heilage Ande.»tJesu dåp og freisting

9 På den tid kom Jesus frå Nasaret i Galilea og vart døypt av Johannes i Jordan. 10 Med det same han steig opp or vatnet, såg han himmelen opna seg og Anden dala ned over han som ei due.
11 Og det kom ei røyst frå himmelen: «Du er Son min, som eg elskar. Deg har eg hugnad i.»t
12 Straks etter dreiv Anden han ut i øydemarka;
13 og der var han i førti dagar og vart freista av Satan. Han heldt til mellom dei ville dyra; englane tente han.tDei fyrste læresveinane

14 Då Johannes var sett i fengsel, kom Jesus til Galilea og forkynte Guds evangelium t
15 og sa: «Tida er komen, og Guds rike er nær. Vend om og tru på evangeliet!»t
16 Ein gong han gjekk langsmed Galilea-sjøen, fekk han sjå Simon og Andreas, bror hans. Dei heldt på å kasta not i sjøen, for dei var fiskarar. 17 Jesus sa til dei: «Fylg meg, så skal eg gjera dykk til menneskefiskarar!»
18 Då gjekk dei beint ifrå nøtene sine og fylgde han.
19 Då Jesus kom litt lenger fram, fekk han sjå Jakob, son til Sebedeus, og Johannes, bror hans; dei sat i båten og bøtte nøtene sine.
20 Straks kalla han dei, og dei gjekk ifrå far sin, Sebedeus, som sat att i båten saman med leigekarane, og dei fylgde Jesus.Ein dag i Kapernaum
(Matt 8,14–17; Luk 4,31–41)
21 Så kom dei til Kapernaum, og då det vart sabbat, gjekk han inn i synagoga og lærte folket.
22 Dei var tekne av undring over læra hans, for han lærte med mynde og ikkje som dei skriftlærde.t
23 No var det i synagoga deira ein mann som hadde ei urein ånd i seg. Han sette i og ropa: 24 «Kva har du med oss å gjera, Jesus frå Nasaret? Er du komen for å tyna oss? Eg veit kven du er, du Guds Heilage!» t 25 Men Jesus truga den ureine ånda og sa: «Tei still og far ut or han!» 26 Og ho reiv og sleit i mannen, skreik høgt og fór ut or han. t 27 Då vart alle forfærde og spurde kvarandre: «Kva er dette? Ei ny lære, med makt og mynde! Han byd jamvel dei ureine åndene, og dei lyder han.»
28 Og gjetordet om han fór snart over heile Galilea.
29 Frå synagoga gjekk dei heim til Simon og Andreas; Jakob og Johannes var med. t 30 Vermor til Simon låg sjuk og hadde feber, og dei fortalde det straks til Jesus.
31 Han gjekk bort til henne, tok henne i handa og reiste henne opp. Då sleppte feberen henne, og ho stelte for dei.
32 Då det vart kveld og sola gladde, kom dei til han med alle som var sjuke eller forgjorde; t 33 heile byen var samla utfor døra.
34 Han lækte mange som leid av ymse sjukdomar, og dreiv ut mange vonde ånder. Men han lét ikkje dei vonde åndene få tala, for dei visste kven han var.tJesus bed og forkynner
(Luk 4,42–44)
35 Morgonen etter, medan det endå var mørkt, stod han opp og gjekk til ein øydestad; der bad han. t 36 Simon og dei som var med han, skunda seg etter, 37 og då dei fann han, sa dei: «Alle leitar etter deg.» 38 Men Jesus svara: «Lat oss halda fram til småbyane her ikring, så eg kan tala til folket der òg. Det er difor eg er komen.» t
39 Så drog han ikring i heile Galilea, tala i synagogene deira og dreiv ut dei vonde åndene.tDen spedalske mannen
(Matt 8,2–4; Luk 5,12–16)
40 Ein mann som var spedalsk, kom til han, fall på kne og bad: «Dersom du vil, kan du gjera meg rein.» 41 Jesus fekk medkjensle med han, rette ut handa og tok bortpå han og sa: «Eg vil, vert rein!» 42 Med det same var sjukdomen borte, og mannen var rein. 43 Jesus tala strengt til han og baud han gå sin veg. 44 «Sei ikkje eit ord til nokon om dette,» sa han. «Men gå og vis deg for presten, og ber fram dei offer som Moses har gjeve påbod om for den som lèt seg reinsa. Det skal vera eit vitnemål for dei.» t 45 Men mannen gjekk av stad og gav seg til å fortelja om det som hadde hendt; han gjorde det kjent vidt og breitt. Difor kunne ikkje Jesus visa seg i nokon by lenger. Han heldt seg utanfor byane, på øydestader. Men folk kom til han frå alle kantar.

The Preaching of //John the Baptist
(Matthew 3.1-12; Luke 3.1-18; John 1.19-28)
1 This is the good news about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.t
2 t It began just as God had said in the book written by Isaiah the prophet,
“I am sending my messenger
to get the way ready
for you.
3 t In the desert
someone is shouting,
‘Get the road ready
for the Lord!
Make a straight path
for him.’ ”
4 So John the Baptist showed up in the desert and told everyone, “Turn back to God and be baptized! Then your sins will be forgiven.”
5 From all Judea and Jerusalem crowds of people went to John. They told how sorry they were for their sins, and he baptized them in the Jordan River.
6 t John wore clothes made of camel's hair. He had a leather strap around his waist and ate grasshoppers and wild honey.
7 John also told the people, “Someone more powerful is going to come. And I am not good enough even to stoop down and untie his sandals.t
8 I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit!”The Baptism of Jesus

9 About that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee, and John baptized him in the Jordan River. 10 As soon as Jesus came out of the water, he saw the sky open and the Holy Spirit coming down to him like a dove.

12 At once God's Spirit made Jesus go into the desert.
13 He stayed there for 40 days while Satan tested him. Jesus was with the wild animals, but angels took care of him.Jesus Begins His Work

14 After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee and told the good news that comes from God.t

(Matthew 4.18-22; Luke 5.1-11)
16 As Jesus was walking along the shore of Lake Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew. They were fishermen and were casting their nets into the lake. 17 Jesus said to them, “Follow me! I will teach you how to bring in people instead of fish.”
18 Right then the two brothers dropped their nets and went with him.
19 Jesus walked on and soon saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat, mending their nets.
20 At once Jesus asked them to come with him. They left their father in the boat with the hired workers and went with him.A Man with an Evil Spirit
(Luke 4.31-37)
21 Jesus and his disciples went to the town of Capernaum. Then on the next Sabbath he went into the synagogue and started teaching. 22 t Everyone was amazed at his teaching. He taught with authority, and not like the teachers of the Law of Moses. 23 Suddenly a man with an evil spiritt in him entered the synagogue and yelled,
24 “Jesus from Nazareth, what do you want with us? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are! You are God's Holy One.”
25 Jesus told the evil spirit, “Be quiet and come out of the man!”
26 The spirit shook him. Then it gave a loud shout and left.
27 Everyone was completely surprised and kept saying to each other, “What is this? It must be some new kind of powerful teaching! Even the evil spirits obey him.”
28 News about Jesus quickly spread all over Galilee.Jesus Heals Many People
(Matthew 8.14-17; Luke 4.38-41)
29 As soon as Jesus left the synagogue with James and John, they went home with Simon and Andrew. 30 When they got there, Jesus was told that Simon's mother-in-law was sick in bed with fever.
31 Jesus went to her. He took hold of her hand and helped her up. The fever left her, and she served them a meal.
32 That evening after sunset, t all who were sick or had demons in them were brought to Jesus. 33 In fact, the whole town gathered around the door of the house.
34 Jesus healed all kinds of terrible diseases and forced out a lot of demons. But the demons knew who he was, and he did not let them speak.
35 Very early the next morning before daylight, Jesus got up and went to a place where he could be alone and pray. 36 Simon and the others started looking for him.
37 And when they found him, they said, “Everyone is looking for you!”
38 Jesus replied, “We must go to the nearby towns, so that I can tell the good news to those people. This is why I have come.”
39 t Then Jesus went to their synagogues everywhere in Galilee, where he preached and forced out demons.Jesus Heals a Man
(Matthew 8.1-4; Luke 5.12-16)
40 A man with leprosyt came to Jesus and knelt down.t He begged, “You have the power to make me well, if only you wanted to.”
41 Jesus felt sorry fort the man. So he put his hand on him and said, “I want to! Now you are well.”
42 At once the man's leprosy disappeared, and he was well.
43 After Jesus strictly warned the man, he sent him on his way.
44 t He said, “Don't tell anyone about this. Just go and show the priest that you are well. Then take a gift to the temple as Moses commanded, and everyone will know that you have been healed.”t
45 The man talked about it so much and told so many people, that Jesus could no longer go openly into a town. He had to stay away from the towns, but people still came to him from everywhere.
