La llegada de Jesús
1 Esta es la buena noticiat sobre Jesucristo, el Hijo de Diost. Empieza2 como está escrito en el libro del profeta Isaíast:«Oye, te envío a mi mensajero delante de ti,quien te preparará el camino.t
3 Alguien grita en el desierto:
"Preparen el camino para el Señor;
háganle caminos derechos"».t
4 Así, Juan el Bautista llegó a bautizart a la gente en el desierto, anunciándoles que cambiaran su manera de pensar y de vivir, y que se bautizaran para que Dios les perdonara sus pecados.5 Entonces venía a él toda la gente de la provincia de Judea y de la ciudad de Jerusalén. Confesaban sus pecados, y Juan los bautizaba en el río Jordán.
6 Juan se vestía de pelo de camello, llevaba un cinto de cuero en la cintura; y se alimentaba de langostas y miel silvestre.
7 Juan les decía: «El que viene después de mí es más poderoso que yo. Ni siquiera soy digno de desatar agachado las correas de sus sandalias.
8 Yo los bautizo con agua, pero él los va a bautizar con el Espíritu Santo».
Bautismo de Jesús
9 En esos días, Jesús llegó desde Nazaret de Galilea y Juan lo bautizót en el río Jordán.10 Tan pronto como Jesús salió del agua, vio que el cielo se rasgaba y que el Espíritu Santo bajaba sobre él como una paloma.
11 Entonces vino una voz del cielo que decía: «Este es mi hijo amado con quien estoy muy contento».
Jesús es puesto a prueba
12 Inmediatamente, el Espíritu Santo impulsó a Jesús al desierto.
13 Jesús estuvo allí durante cuarenta días y Satanás lo puso a prueba. Estuvo entre los animales salvajes, pero los ángeles lo cuidaban.
Jesús comienza su obra
14 Después de que encarcelaron a Juan, Jesús fue a Galilea y comenzó a anunciar la buena noticiat de parte de Dios.
15 Él decía: «Ha llegado el momento, el reino de Diost ya está cerca. Cambien su manera de pensar y de vivir, crean en la buena noticia».
Los primeros seguidores
16 Jesús caminaba junto al lago de Galilea cuando vio a Simónt y a su hermano Andrés. Estaban lanzando la red para pescar en el lago, pues eran pescadores.
17 Y Jesús les dijo:
—Síganme, y yo les enseñaré a pescar hombres.
18 Y enseguida dejaron sus redes y lo siguieron.
19 Un poco más adelante, Jesús encontró a Santiago y a su hermano Juan, los hijos de Zebedeo. Estaban en un bote arreglando las redes para pescar.
20 Enseguida los llamó y dejaron a su papá Zebedeo que estaba en el bote con los trabajadores, y siguieron a Jesús.
Jesús sana a un endemoniado
21 Jesús y sus seguidores llegaron a Capernaúmt y enseguida, en el día de descansot, Jesús entró en la sinagogat y empezó a enseñar.22 La gente se admiraba de su enseñanza, porque les enseñaba como alguien que tiene autoridad y no como los maestros de la ley.
23 De pronto llegó a la sinagoga un hombre poseído por un espíritu malignot que gritó:
24 —¿Qué quieres de nosotros, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo sé quién eres tú: ¡el Santo de Dios!
25 Pero Jesús reprendió al espíritu maligno y le dijo:
—¡Cállate y sal de él!
26 Luego el espíritu maligno sacudió al hombre, dio un gran grito y salió de él.
27 Todos se quedaron atónitos y empezaron a preguntarse entre sí: «¿Qué está pasando? ¡Este hombre enseña algo nuevo y lo hace con autoridad! ¡Hasta puede darles órdenes a los espíritus malignos y ellos lo obedecen!»
28 La fama de Jesús se extendió rápidamente por toda la región de Galilea.
Jesús sana a la suegra de Pedro y a otros
29 Cuando salieron de la sinagogat, Jesús, Santiago y Juan fueron a la casa de Simón y Andrés.30 La suegra de Simón estaba acostada con fiebre. De inmediato se lo dijeron a Jesús.
31 Él se acercó a la mujer y la tomó de la mano para ayudarla a levantarse, y la fiebre la dejó. Entonces, ella comenzó a atenderlos.
32 Al anochecer, cuando ya se había puesto el sol, le llevaron a Jesús todos los enfermos y los que estaban atormentados por demonios.33 Todo el pueblo se reunió en la puerta.
34 Jesús sanó toda clase de enfermedades y expulsó muchos demonios; pero no permitió que los demonios hablaran porque ellos sabían quién era él.
Jesús anuncia el mensaje de Dios
35 Muy temprano, cuando todavía estaba oscuro, Jesús se levantó y fue a un lugar solitario para orar.36 Luego Simón y los otros que estaban con él salieron a buscar a Jesús.
37 Cuando lo encontraron le dijeron:
—Todos te están buscando.
38 Jesús les respondió:
—Vámonos a otros pueblos para que yo pueda anunciar el mensaje también allá. Para eso he venido.
39 Así que Jesús siguió por toda Galilea anunciando su mensaje en las sinagogast y expulsando los demonios.
Jesús sana a un leproso
40 Un leprosot se acercó a él, se arrodilló y le suplicó que lo ayudara. El hombre le dijo a Jesús:
—Señor, si quieres, puedes quitarme esta enfermedad.
41 Lo que dijo al final hizo que Jesús se enfadara con él,t pero extendió la mano, tocó al hombre y le dijo:
—Sí quiero. ¡Sana ya!
42 En ese mismo instante la lepra desapareció y quedó sano.
43 Enseguida Jesús echó al hombre y advirtiéndole severamente:
44 —Mira, no se lo cuentes a nadie. Ve y preséntate ante el sacerdotet y da la ofrenda que ordenó Moisést al que ha sido sanado. Esto servirá para que la gente compruebe que has sido sanado.
45 Pero el hombre fue y empezó a divulgar la noticia de lo que había pasado. Por eso Jesús no podía entrar en ningún pueblo sin llamar la atención. Tenía que quedarse en lugares solitarios, y la gente de todas partes acudía a él.

Preaching of John the Baptist
1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
"BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU,
WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY;
3 THE VOICE OF ONE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS,
'MAKE READY THE WAY OF THE LORD,
MAKE HIS PATHS STRAIGHT.'"4 John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness tpreaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.5 And all the country of Judea was going out to him, and all the people of Jerusalem; and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.6 John was clothed with camel's hair and wore a leather belt around his waist, and his diet was locusts and wild honey.7 And he was preaching, and saying, "After me One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to stoop down and untie the thong of His sandals.8 I baptized you twith water; but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
The Baptism of Jesus
9 In those days Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.10 Immediately coming up out of the water, He saw the heavens opening, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him;11 and a voice came out of the heavens: "You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased."
12 Immediately the Spirit *impelled Him to go out into the wilderness.13 And He was in the wilderness forty days being tempted by Satan; and He was with the wild beasts, and the angels were ministering to Him.
Jesus Preaches in Galilee
14 Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,15 and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel."
16 As He was going along by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen.17 And Jesus said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men."18 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.19 Going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.20 Immediately He called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went away to follow Him.
21 They *went into Capernaum; and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and began to teach.22 They were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.23 Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,24 saying, "What business do we have with each other, Jesus tof Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are-the Holy One of God!"25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!"26 Throwing him into convulsions, the unclean spirit cried out with a loud voice and came out of him.27 They were all amazed, so that they debated among themselves, saying, "What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him."28 Immediately the news about Him spread everywhere into all the surrounding district of Galilee.
Crowds Healed
29 And immediately after they came out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.30 Now Simon's mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and immediately they *spoke to Jesus about her.31 And He came to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she twaited on them.
32 When evening came, after the sun had set, they began bringing to Him all who were ill and those who were demon-possessed.33 And the whole city had gathered at the door.34 And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He was not permitting the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
35 In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.36 Simon and his companions searched for Him;37 they found Him, and *said to Him, "Everyone is looking for You."38 He *said to them, "Let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby, so that I may preach there also; for that is what I came for."39 And He went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out the demons.
40 And a leper *came to Jesus, beseeching Him and falling on his knees before Him, and saying, "If You are willing, You can make me clean."41 Moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and *said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed."42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.43 And He sternly warned him and immediately sent him away,44 and He *said to him, "See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."45 But he went out and began to proclaim it freely and to spread the news around, to such an extent that Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city, but tstayed out in unpopulated areas; and they were coming to Him from everywhere.
