La prédication de Jean-Baptiste

1 Ici commence la Bonne Nouvelle de Jésus-Christ, le Fils de Dieut.
2 Dans le livre du prophète Ésaïe, il est écrit :
« Je vais envoyer mon messager devant toi, dit Dieu,
pour t’ouvrir le chemin.
3 C’est la voix d’un homme qui crie dans le désert :
Préparez le chemin du Seigneur,
faites-lui des sentiers bien droitst ! »
4 Ainsi, Jean le Baptiste parut dans le désert ; il lançait cet appel : « Changez de comportement, faites-vous baptiser et Dieu pardonnera vos péchést. »
5 Tous les habitants de la région de Judée et de la ville de Jérusalem allaient à lui ; ils confessaient publiquement leurs péchés et Jean les baptisait dans la rivière, le Jourdain.
6 Jean portait un vêtement fait de poils de chameau et une ceinture de cuir autour de la taillet ; il mangeait des sauterelles et du miel sauvage. 7 Il déclarait à la foule : « Celui qui vient après moi est plus puissant que moi ; je ne suis pas même digne de me baisser pour délier la courroie de ses sandales.
8 Moi, je vous ai baptisés avec de l’eau, mais lui, il vous baptisera avec le Saint-Esprit. »Le baptême et la tentation de Jésus

9 Alors, Jésus vint de Nazareth, localité de Galilée, et Jean le baptisa dans le Jourdain. 10 Au moment où Jésus sortait de l’eau, il vit le ciel s’ouvrir et l’Esprit Saint descendre sur lui comme une colombe.
11 Et une voix se fit entendre du ciel : « Tu es mon Fils bien-aimé ; je mets en toi toute ma joiet. »
12 Tout de suite après, l’Esprit le poussa dans le désert.
13 Jésus y resta pendant quarante jours et il fut tenté par Satan. Il vivait parmi les bêtes sauvages et les anges le servaient.Jésus appelle quatre pêcheurs

14 Après que Jean eut été mis en prisont, Jésus se rendit en Galilée ; il y proclamait la Bonne Nouvelle venant de Dieu.
15 « Le moment fixé est arrivé, disait-il, car le Royaume de Dieu s’est approché ! Changez de comportementt et croyez la Bonne Nouvelle ! »
16 Jésus marchait le long du lac de Galilée lorsqu’il vit deux pêcheurs, Simon et son frère André, qui pêchaient en jetant un filet dans le lac. 17 Jésus leur dit : « Venez avec moi et je ferai de vous des pêcheurs d’hommes. » 18 Aussitôt, ils laissèrent leurs filets et le suivirent. 19 Jésus s’avança un peu plus loin et vit Jacques et son frère Jean, les fils de Zébédée. Ils étaient dans leur barque et réparaient leurs filets.
20 Aussitôt Jésus les appela ; ils laissèrent leur père Zébédée dans la barque avec les ouvriers et allèrent avec Jésus.L’homme tourmenté par un esprit mauvais

21 Jésus et ses disciples se rendirent à la ville de Capernaüm. Au jour du sabbat, Jésus entra dans la synagogue et se mit à enseigner. 22 Les gens qui l’entendaient étaient impressionnés par sa manière d’enseigner ; car il n’était pas comme les maîtres de la loi, mais il leur donnait son enseignement avec autorité. 23 Or, dans cette synagogue, il y avait justement un homme tourmenté par un esprit mauvais. Il cria : 24 « Que nous veux-tu, Jésus de Nazareth ? Es-tu venu pour nous détruire ? Je sais bien qui tu es : le Saint envoyé de Dieu ! » 25 Jésus parla sévèrement à l’esprit mauvais et lui donna cet ordre : « Tais-toi et sors de cet homme ! » 26 L’esprit secoua rudement l’homme et sortit de lui en poussant un grand cri. 27 Les gens furent tous si étonnés qu’ils se demandèrent les uns aux autres : « Qu’est-ce que cela ? Un nouvel enseignement donné avec autorité ! Cet homme commande même aux esprits mauvais et ils lui obéissent ! »
28 Et, très vite, la renommée de Jésus se répandit dans toute la région de la Galilée.Jésus guérit beaucoup de malades

29 Ils quittèrent la synagogue et allèrent aussitôt à la maison de Simon et d’André, en compagnie de Jacques et Jean. 30 La belle-mère de Simon était au lit, parce qu’elle avait de la fièvre ; dès que Jésus arriva, on lui parla d’elle.
31 Il s’approcha d’elle, lui prit la main et la fit lever. La fièvre la quitta et elle se mit à les servir.
32 Le soir, après le coucher du soleilt, les gens transportèrent vers Jésus tous les malades et ceux qui étaient possédés d’un esprit mauvais. 33 Toute la population de la ville était rassemblée devant la porte de la maison.
34 Jésus guérit beaucoup de gens qui souffraient de toutes sortes de maladies et il chassa aussi beaucoup d’esprits mauvais. Il ne laissait pas parler les esprits mauvais, parce qu’ils savaient, eux, qui il était.Jésus parcourt la Galilée

35 Très tôt le lendemain, alors qu’il faisait encore nuit noire, Jésus se leva et sortit de la maison. Il s’en alla hors de la ville, dans un endroit isolé ; là, il se mit à prier. 36 Simon et ses compagnons partirent à sa recherche ; 37 quand ils le trouvèrent, ils lui dirent : « Tout le monde te cherche. » 38 Mais Jésus leur dit : « Allons ailleurs, dans les villages voisins. Je dois prêcher là-bas aussi, car c’est pour cela que je suis venut. »
39 Et ainsi, il alla dans toute la Galilée ; il prêchait dans les synagogues de la région et il chassait les esprits mauvais.Jésus guérit un lépreux

40 Un lépreux vint à Jésus, se mit à genoux devant lui et lui demanda son aide en disant : « Si tu le veux, tu peux me rendre pur. » 41 Jésus fut rempli de pitié pour luit ; il étendit la main, le toucha et lui déclara : « Je le veux, sois pur ! » 42 Aussitôt, la lèpre quitta cet homme et il fut pur. 43 Puis, Jésus le renvoya immédiatement en lui parlant avec sévérité. 44 « Écoute bien, lui dit-il, ne parle de cela à personne. Mais va te faire examiner par le prêtre, puis offre le sacrifice que Moïse a ordonné, pour prouver à tous que tu es guérit. » 45 L’homme partit, mais il se mit à raconter partout ce qui lui était arrivé. A cause de cela, Jésus ne pouvait plus se montrer dans une ville ; il restait en dehors, dans des endroits isolés. Et l’on venait à lui de partout.

1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.2 Even as it is written in Isaiah the prophet, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, Who shall prepare thy way.3 The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight;4 John came, who baptized in the wilderness and preached the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins.5 And there went out unto him all the country of Judaea, and all they of Jerusalem; And they were baptized of him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.6 And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and had a leathern girdle about his loins, and did eat locusts and wild honey.7 And he preached, saying, There cometh after me he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.8 I baptized you in water; But he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit.9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in the Jordan.10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens rent asunder, and the Spirit as a dove descending upon him:11 And a voice came out of the heavens, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased.12 And straightway the Spirit driveth him forth into the wilderness.13 And he was in the wilderness forty days tempted of Satan; And he was with the wild beasts; And the angels ministered unto him.14 Now after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God,15 and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe in the gospel.16 And passing along by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea; for they were fishers.17 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.18 And straightway they left the nets, and followed him.19 And going on a little further, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending the nets.20 And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.21 And they go into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught.22 And they were astonished at his teaching: For he taught them as having authority, and not as the scribes.23 And straightway there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,24 saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus thou Nazarene? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.26 And the unclean spirit, tearing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him.27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What is this? a new teaching! with authority he commandeth even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.28 And the report of him went out straightway everywhere into all the region of Galilee round about.29 And straightway, when they were come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.30 Now Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick of a fever; and straightway they tell him of her:31 and he came and took her by the hand, and raised her up; and the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were sick, and them that were possessed with demons.33 And all the city was gathered together at the door.34 And he healed many that were sick with divers diseases, and cast out many demons; and he suffered not the demons to speak, because they knew him.35 And in the morning, a great while before day, he rose up and went out, and departed into a desert place, and there prayed.36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him;37 and they found him, and say unto him, All are seeking thee.38 And he saith unto them, Let us go elsewhere into the next towns, that I may preach there also; for to this end came I forth.39 And he went into their synagogues throughout all Galilee, preaching and casting out demons.40 And there cometh to him a leper, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.41 And being moved with compassion, he stretched forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou made clean.42 And straightway the leprosy departed from him, and he was made clean.43 And he strictly charged him, and straightway sent him out,44 and saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go show thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing the things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to spread abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into a city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
