Predicación de Juan el Bautista

1 Principio del evangelio de Jesucristo, Hijo de Dios.

2 Como está escrito en el profeta Isaías:
«Yo envío mi mensajero delante de tu faz,
el cual preparará tu camino delante de ti.

3 Voz del que clama en el desierto:
“Preparad el camino del Señor.
¡Enderezad sus sendas!”»
4 Bautizaba Juan en el desierto y predicaba el bautismo de arrepentimiento para perdón de pecados.

5 Acudía a él toda la provincia de Judea y todos los de Jerusalén, y eran bautizados por él en el río Jordán, confesando sus pecados.
6 Juan estaba vestido de pelo de camello, tenía un cinto de cuero alrededor de su cintura, y comía langostas y miel silvestre.7 Y predicaba, diciendo: «Viene tras mí el que es más poderoso que yo, a quien no soy digno de desatar, agachado, la correa de su calzado.

8 Yo a la verdad os he bautizado con agua, pero él os bautizará con Espíritu Santo.»

El bautismo de Jesús

9 Aconteció en aquellos días que Jesús vino de Nazaret de Galilea, y fue bautizado por Juan en el Jordán.10 Luego, cuando subía del agua, vio abrirse los cielos y al Espíritu como paloma que descendía sobre él.

11 Y vino una voz de los cielos que decía: «Tú eres mi Hijo amado, en ti tengo complacencia.»

Tentación de Jesús

12 Luego el Espíritu lo impulsó al desierto.

13 Y estuvo allí en el desierto cuarenta días. Era tentado por Satanás, y estaba con las fieras, y los ángeles lo servían.

Jesús principia su ministerio

14 Después que Juan fue encarcelado, Jesús fue a Galilea predicando el evangelio del reino de Dios.

15 Decía: «El tiempo se ha cumplido y el reino de Dios se ha acercado. ¡Arrepentíos y creed en el evangelio!»

Jesús llama a cuatro pescadores

16 Andando junto al Mar de Galilea, vio a Simón y a su hermano Andrés que echaban la red en el mar, porque eran pescadores.

17 Jesús les dijo:
—Venid en pos de mí, y haré que seáis pescadores de hombres.

18 Y dejando al instante sus redes, lo siguieron.
19 Pasando de allí un poco más adelante, vio a Jacobo, hijo de Zebedeo, y a su hermano Juan, que estaban en la barca remendando las redes;

20 y en seguida los llamó. Entonces, dejando a su padre, Zebedeo, en la barca con los jornaleros, lo siguieron.

Un hombre que tenía un espíritu impuro

21 Entraron en Capernaúm, y el sábado entró Jesús en la sinagoga y comenzó a enseñar.22 Y se admiraban de su doctrina, porque les enseñaba como quien tiene autoridad, y no como los escribas.

23 Pero había en la sinagoga de ellos un hombre con espíritu impuro, que gritó:

24 —¡Ah! ¿Qué tienes con nosotros, Jesús nazareno? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Sé quién eres: el Santo de Dios.

25 Entonces Jesús lo reprendió, diciendo:
—¡Cállate y sal de él!
26 Y el espíritu impuro, sacudiéndolo con violencia y dando un alarido, salió de él.

27 Todos se asombraron, de tal manera que discutían entre sí, diciendo:
—¿Qué es esto? ¿Qué nueva doctrina es ésta, que con autoridad manda aun a los espíritus impuros, y lo obedecen?

28 Muy pronto se difundió su fama por toda la provincia alrededor de Galilea.

Jesús sana a la suegra de Pedro

29 Al salir de la sinagoga, fueron a casa de Simón y Andrés, con Jacobo y Juan.30 La suegra de Simón estaba acostada con fiebre, y en seguida le hablaron de ella.

31 Entonces él se acercó, la tomó de la mano y la levantó; e inmediatamente se le pasó la fiebre y los servía.

Jesús sana a muchos enfermos

32 Cuando llegó la noche, luego que el sol se puso, le llevaron a todos los enfermos y endemoniados.33 Toda la ciudad se agolpó a la puerta.

34 Y sanó a muchos que padecían de diversas enfermedades, y echó fuera muchos demonios; y no dejaba hablar a los demonios, porque lo conocían.

Jesús recorre Galilea predicando

35 Levantándose muy de mañana, siendo aún muy oscuro, salió y se fue a un lugar desierto, y allí oraba.36 Lo buscó Simón y los que con él estaban,

37 y hallándolo, le dijeron:
—Todos te buscan.

38 Él les dijo:
—Vamos a los lugares vecinos para que predique también allí, porque para esto he venido.

39 Y predicaba en las sinagogas de ellos en toda Galilea, y echaba fuera los demonios.

Jesús sana a un leproso

40 Vino a él un leproso que, de rodillas, le dijo:
—Si quieres, puedes limpiarme.

41 Jesús, teniendo misericordia de él, extendió la mano, lo tocó y le dijo:
—Quiero, sé limpio.
42 Tan pronto terminó de hablar, la lepra desapareció del hombre, y quedó limpio.

43 Entonces lo despidió en seguida, y le ordenó estrictamente:

44 —Mira, no digas a nadie nada, sino ve, muéstrate al sacerdote y ofrece por tu purificación lo que Moisés mandó, para testimonio a ellos.

45 Pero, al salir, comenzó a publicar y a divulgar mucho el hecho, de manera que ya Jesús no podía entrar abiertamente en la ciudad, sino que se quedaba fuera, en los lugares desiertos; y venían a él de todas partes.

MARK 1

The Preaching of //John the Baptist

(Matthew 3.1-12; Luke 3.1-18; John 1.19-28)

1 This is the good news about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.t

2 t It began just as God had said in the book written by Isaiah the prophet,
“I am sending my messenger
to get the way ready
for you.

3  t In the desert
someone is shouting,
‘Get the road ready
for the Lord!
Make a straight path
for him.’ ”

4 So John the Baptist showed up in the desert and told everyone, “Turn back to God and be baptized! Then your sins will be forgiven.”

5 From all Judea and Jerusalem crowds of people went to John. They told how sorry they were for their sins, and he baptized them in the Jordan River.

6  t John wore clothes made of camel's hair. He had a leather strap around his waist and ate grasshoppers and wild honey.
7 John also told the people, “Someone more powerful is going to come. And I am not good enough even to stoop down and untie his sandals.t

8 I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit!”

The Baptism of Jesus

(Matthew 3.13-17; Luke 3.21,22)

11 t A voice from heaven said, “You are my own dear Son, and I am pleased with you.”

Jesus and Satan

(Matthew 4.1-11; Luke 4.1-13)

13 He stayed there for 40 days while Satan tested him. Jesus was with the wild animals, but angels took care of him.

Jesus Begins His Work

(Matthew 4.12-17; Luke 4.14,15)

15 t He said, “The time has come! God's kingdom will soon be here.t Turn back to God and believe the good news!”

Jesus Chooses //Four Fishermen

(Matthew 4.18-22; Luke 5.1-11)

18 Right then the two brothers dropped their nets and went with him.
19 Jesus walked on and soon saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They were in a boat, mending their nets.

20 At once Jesus asked them to come with him. They left their father in the boat with the hired workers and went with him.

A Man with an Evil Spirit

(Luke 4.31-37)

24 “Jesus from Nazareth, what do you want with us? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are! You are God's Holy One.”
25 Jesus told the evil spirit, “Be quiet and come out of the man!”

26 The spirit shook him. Then it gave a loud shout and left.
27 Everyone was completely surprised and kept saying to each other, “What is this? It must be some new kind of powerful teaching! Even the evil spirits obey him.”

28 News about Jesus quickly spread all over Galilee.

Jesus Heals Many People

(Matthew 8.14-17; Luke 4.38-41)

31 Jesus went to her. He took hold of her hand and helped her up. The fever left her, and she served them a meal.
32 That evening after sunset, t all who were sick or had demons in them were brought to Jesus. 33 In fact, the whole town gathered around the door of the house.

34 Jesus healed all kinds of terrible diseases and forced out a lot of demons. But the demons knew who he was, and he did not let them speak.
35 Very early the next morning before daylight, Jesus got up and went to a place where he could be alone and pray. 36 Simon and the others started looking for him.

37 And when they found him, they said, “Everyone is looking for you!”
38 Jesus replied, “We must go to the nearby towns, so that I can tell the good news to those people. This is why I have come.”

39 t Then Jesus went to their synagogues everywhere in Galilee, where he preached and forced out demons.

Jesus Heals a Man

(Matthew 8.1-4; Luke 5.12-16)

40 A man with leprosyt came to Jesus and knelt down.t He begged, “You have the power to make me well, if only you wanted to.”
41 Jesus felt sorry fort the man. So he put his hand on him and said, “I want to! Now you are well.”

42 At once the man's leprosy disappeared, and he was well.
43 After Jesus strictly warned the man, he sent him on his way.

44 t He said, “Don't tell anyone about this. Just go and show the priest that you are well. Then take a gift to the temple as Moses commanded, and everyone will know that you have been healed.”t
45 The man talked about it so much and told so many people, that Jesus could no longer go openly into a town. He had to stay away from the towns, but people still came to him from everywhere.
