La enseñanza de Jesús acerca del divorcio

(Mt 19.13-15; Lc 16.18)

1 Salió Jesús de Cafarnaún y se fue a la región de Judea y a la tierra que está al oriente del Jordán.t Allí volvió a reunírsele la gente, y él comenzó de nuevo a enseñar, como tenía por costumbre. 2 Algunos fariseos se acercaron a Jesús, y para tenderle una trampa le preguntaron si al esposo le está permitido separarse de su esposa.t

3 Él les contestó:
–¿Qué os mandó Moisés?

4 Dijeron:
–Moisés permitió despedir a la esposa entregándole un certificado de separación.t

5 Entonces Jesús les dijo:
–Moisés os dio ese mandato por lo tercos que sois. 6 Pero en el principio de la creación, Dios los creó hombre y mujer.t 7 Por eso, el hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre para unirse a su esposa,t 8 y los dos serán como una sola persona. Así que ya no son dos, sino uno solo.t

9 De modo que el hombre no debe separar lo que Dios ha unido.
10 Cuando ya estaban en casa, los discípulos volvieron a preguntarle sobre este asunto.

11 Jesús les dijo:
–El que se separa de su esposa y se casa con otra, comete adulterio contra la primera;

12 y si la mujer deja a su esposo y se casa con otro, también comete adulterio.t

Jesús bendice a los niños

(Mt 19.13-15; Lc 18.15-17)

14 Jesús, viendo esto, se enojó y les dijo:
–Dejad que los niños vengan a mí y no se lo impidáis, porque el reino de Dios es de quienes son como ellos.

15 Os aseguro que el que no acepta el reino de Dios como un niño, no entrará en él.t

16 Tomó en sus brazos a los niños y los bendijo poniendo las manos sobre ellos.

El hombre rico

(Mt 19.16-30; Lc 18.18-30)

17 Cuando Jesús iba a seguir su viaje, llegó un hombre corriendo, se puso de rodillas delante de él y le preguntó:
–Maestro bueno, ¿qué debo hacer para alcanzar la vida eterna?t

18 Jesús le contestó:
–¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Bueno solamente hay uno: Dios.

19 Ya sabes los mandamientos: ‘No mates, no cometas adulterio, no robes, no mientas en perjuicio de nadie ni engañes, y honra a tu padre y a tu madre.’t

20 El hombre le dijo:
–Maestro, todo eso lo he cumplido desde joven.

21 Jesús le miró con afecto y le contestó:
–Una cosa te falta: ve, vende todo lo que tienes y dáselo a los pobres. Así tendrás riquezas en el cielo. Luego, ven y sígueme.

22 El hombre se afligió al oir esto; se fue triste, porque era muy rico.

23 Jesús entonces miró alrededor y dijo a sus discípulos:
–¡Qué difícil les va a ser a los ricos entrar en el reino de Dios!t

24 Estas palabras dejaron asombrados a los discípulos, pero Jesús volvió a decirles:
–Hijos, ¡qué difícil est entrar en el reino de Dios!

25 Le es más fácil a un camello pasar por el ojo de una agujat que a un rico entrar en el reino de Dios.

26 Al oirlo, se asombraron aún más, y se preguntaban unos a otros:
–¿Y quién podrá salvarse?

27 Jesús los miró y les contestó:
–Para los hombres es imposible, pero no para Dios, porque para él no hay nada imposible.t

28 Pedro comenzó a decirle:
–Nosotros hemos dejado todo lo que teníamos y te hemos seguido.

29 Jesús respondió:
–Os aseguro que todo el que por mi causa y por causa del evangelio deje casa, hermanos, hermanas, madre, padre, hijos o tierras, 30 recibirá ya en este mundo cien veces más en casas, hermanos, hermanas, madres, hijos y tierras, aunque con persecuciones; y en el mundo venidero recibirá la vida eterna.

31 Pero muchos que ahora son los primeros, serán los últimos; y muchos que ahora son los últimos, serán los primeros.t

Jesús anuncia por tercera vez su muerte

(Mt 20.17-19; Lc 18.31-34)

32 Se dirigían a Jerusalén y Jesús caminaba delante de los discípulos. Ellos estaban asombrados, y los que iban detrás tenían miedo. Jesús, llamando de nuevo aparte a los doce discípulos, comenzó a hablarles de lo que había de sucederle:
33 –Como veis, ahora vamos a Jerusalén, donde el Hijo del hombre será entregado a los jefes de los sacerdotes y a los maestros de la ley, que lo condenarán a muerte y lo entregarán a los extranjeros.t

34 Se burlarán de él, le escupirán, le golpearán y lo matarán; pero tres días después resucitará.t

Jesús responde a Santiago y Juan

(Mt 20.20-28)

35 Santiago y Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, se acercaron a Jesús y le dijeron:
–Maestro, queremos que nos hagas el favor que vamos a pedirte.

36 Él les preguntó:
–¿Qué queréis que haga por vosotros?

37 Le dijeron:
–Concédenos que en tu reino glorioso nos sentemos el uno a tu derecha y el otro a tu izquierda.t

38 Jesús les contestó:
–No sabéis lo que pedís. ¿Acaso podéis beber esa copa amarga que voy a beber yo, y recibir el bautismo que yo voy a recibir?t

39 Ellos contestaron:
–Podemos.
Jesús les dijo:
–Vosotros beberéis esa copa amarga y recibiréis el bautismo que yo voy a recibir,t

40 pero el que os sentéis a mi derecha o a mi izquierda no me corresponde a mí darlo. Les será dado a aquellos para quienes está preparado.
41 Cuando los otros diez discípulos oyeron todo esto, se enojaron con Santiago y Juan.

42 Pero Jesús los llamó y les dijo:
–Sabéis que entre los paganos hay jefes que creen tener el derecho de gobernar con tiranía a sus súbditos, y sobre estos descargan los grandes el peso de su autoridad. 43 Pero entre vosotros no debe ser así. Al contrario, el que quiera ser grande entre vosotros, que sirva a los demás; 44 y el que entre vosotros quiera ser el primero, que sea esclavo de todos.t

45 Porque tampoco el Hijo del hombre ha venido para ser servido, sino para servir y dar su vida en pago de la libertad de todos.t

Jesús sana a Bartimeo el ciego

(Mt 20.29-34; Lc 18.35-43)

47 Al oir que era Jesús de Nazaret, el ciego comenzó a gritar:
–¡Jesús, Hijo de David, ten compasión de mí!t

48 Muchos le reprendían para que se callara, pero él gritaba más aún:
–¡Hijo de David, ten compasión de mí!

49 Jesús se detuvo y dijo:
–Llamadle.
Llamaron al ciego y le dijeron:
–Ánimo, levántate. Te está llamando.
50 El ciego arrojó su capa, y dando un salto se acercó a Jesús,

51 que le preguntó:
–¿Qué quieres que haga por ti?
El ciego le contestó:
–Maestro, quiero recobrar la vista.

52 Jesús le dijo:
–Puedes irte. Por tu fe has sido sanado.t
En aquel mismo instante el ciego recobró la vista, y siguió a Jesús.

Mark 10

Divorce

1 Thent Jesust left that place and went to the region of Judea ands beyond the Jordan River.t Again crowds gathered to him, and again, as was his custom, he taught them.2 Then some Phariseesss came, and to test himt they asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce hist wife?”ts3 He answered them,t “What did Moses command you?”4 They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her.”ts5 But Jesus said to them, “He wrote this commandment for you because of your hard hearts.t6 But from the beginning of creation hesmade them male and female.s7 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother,s8 and the two will become one flesh.ss So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
10 In the house once again, the disciples asked him about this.11 Sot he told them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her.

12 And if she divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”s

Jesus and Little Children

13 Nowt people were bringing little children to him for him to touch,t but the disciples scolded those who brought them.st14 But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.s15 I tell you the truth,t whoever does not receives the kingdom of God like a childs will nevert enter it.”

16 After he took the children in his arms, he placed his hands on them and blessed them.

The Rich Man

17 Nowt as Jesusts was starting out on his way, someone ran up to him, fell on his knees, and said, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”s18 Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good?s No one is good except God alone.19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,do not defraud, honor your father and mother.’”s20 The mant said to him, “Teacher, I have wholeheartedly obeyedt all these lawsts since my youth.”s21 As Jesus looked at him, he felt love for him and said, “You lack one thing. Go, sell whatever you have and give the moneyt to the poor, and you will have treasures in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22 But at this statement, the mant looked sad and went away sorrowful, for he was very rich.t
23 Thent Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!”24 The disciples were astonished at these words. But again Jesus said to them,t “Children, how hard it iss to enter the kingdom of God!25 It is easier for a camels to go through the eye of a needles than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”26 They were even more astonished and saidt to one another, “Thent who can be saved?”s

27 Jesus looked at them and replied, “This is impossible for mere humans,t but not for God; all things are possible for God.”
28 Peter began to speak to him, “Look,s we have left everything to follow you!”t29 Jesus said, “I tell you the truth,t there is no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for my sake and for the sake of the gospel30 who will not receive in this aget a hundred times as much – homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, fields, all with persecutionst – and in the age to come, eternal life.s

31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

Third Prediction of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection

32 They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem.s Jesus was going ahead of them, and they were amazed, but those who followed were afraid. He took the twelve aside again and began to tell them what was going to happen to him.33 “Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and experts in the law.t They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the Gentiles.

34 They will mock him, spit on him, flogt him severely, and kill him. Yett after three days,s he will rise again.”

The Request of James and John

35 Thent James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him and said, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”36 He said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”37 They said to him, “Permit one of us to sit at your right hand and the other at your left in your glory.”38 But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you are asking! Are you able to drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I experience?”t39 They said to him, “We are able.”s Then Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism I experience,

40 but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give. It is for those for whom it has been prepared.”s
41 Nowt when the other tent heard this,t they became angry with James and John.42 Jesus called them and said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in high positions use their authority over them.43 But it is not this way among you. Instead whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant,44 and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slavet of all.

45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransoms for many.”

Healing Blind Bartimaeus

46 They came to Jericho.s As Jesust and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus the son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.47 When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to shout,t “Jesus, Son of David,s have mercys on me!”48 Many scoldedt him to get him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” Sot they called the blind man and said to him, “Have courage! Get up! He is calling you.”50 He threw off his cloak, jumped up, and came to Jesus.51 Thent Jesus said to him,t “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied, “Rabbi,t let me see again.”t

52 Jesus said to him, “Go, your faith has healed you.” Immediately he regainedt his sight and followed him on the road.
