L’enseignement de Jésus sur le divorce

1 Jésus partit de là et se rendit dans le territoire de la Judée, puis de l’autre côté du Jourdain. De nouveau, une foule de gens s’assemblèrent près de lui et il se mit à leur donner son enseignement, comme il le faisait toujours. 2 Quelques Pharisiens s’approchèrent de lui pour lui tendre un piège. Ils lui demandèrent : « Notre loi permet-elle à un homme de renvoyer sa femme ? » 3 Jésus leur répondit par cette question : « Quel commandement Moïse vous a-t-il donné ? » 4 Ils dirent : « Moïse a permis à un homme d’écrire une attestation de divorce et de renvoyer sa femmet. » 5 Alors Jésus leur dit : « Moïse a écrit ce commandement pour vous parce que vous avez le cœur dur. 6 Mais au commencement, quand Dieu a tout créé, “il les fit homme et femme”, dit l’Écrituret. 7 “C’est pourquoi, l’homme quittera son père et sa mère pour s’attacher à sa femme, 8 et les deux deviendront un seul êtret.” Ainsi, ils ne sont plus deux mais un seul être. 9 Que l’homme ne sépare donc pas ce que Dieu a uni. » 10 Quand ils furent dans la maison, les disciples posèrent de nouveau des questions à Jésus à ce propos. 11 Il leur répondit : « Si un homme renvoie sa femme et en épouse une autre, il commet un adultère envers la première ;
12 de même, si une femme renvoie son mari et épouse un autre homme, elle commet un adultère. »Jésus bénit des enfants

13 Des gens amenèrent des enfants à Jésus pour qu’il pose les mains sur eux, mais les disciples leur firent des reproches. 14 Quand Jésus vit cela, il s’indigna et dit à ses disciples : « Laissez les enfants venir à moi ! Ne les en empêchez pas, car le Royaume de Dieu appartient à ceux qui sont comme eux.t 15 Je vous le déclare, c’est la vérité : celui qui ne reçoit pas le Royaume de Dieu comme un enfant ne pourra jamais y entrer. »
16 Ensuite, il prit les enfants dans ses bras ; il posa les mains sur chacun d’eux et les bénit.L’homme riche

17 Comme Jésus se mettait en route, un homme vint en courant, se jeta à genoux devant lui et lui demanda : « Bon maître, que dois-je faire pour obtenir la vie éternelle ? » 18 Jésus lui dit : « Pourquoi m’appelles-tu bon ? Personne n’est bon, à part Dieu seul. 19 Tu connais les commandements : “Ne commets pas de meurtre ; ne commets pas d’adultère ; ne vole pas ; ne prononce pas de faux témoignage contre quelqu’un ; ne prends rien aux autres par tromperie ; respecte ton père et ta mèret.” » 20 L’homme lui répondit : « Maître, j’ai obéi à tous ces commandements depuis ma jeunesse. » 21 Jésus le regarda avec amour et lui dit : « Il te manque une chose : va vendre tout ce que tu as et donne l’argent aux pauvres, alors tu auras des richesses dans le ciel ; puis viens et suis-moi. »
22 Mais quand l’homme entendit cela, il prit un air sombre et il s’en alla tout triste parce qu’il avait de grands biens.
23 Jésus regarda ses disciples qui l’entouraient et leur dit : « Qu’il est difficile aux riches d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu ! » 24 Les disciples furent troublés par ces paroles. Mais Jésus leur dit encore : « Mes enfants, qu’il est difficilet d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu ! 25 Il est difficile à un chameau de passer par le trou d’une aiguille, mais il est encore plus difficile à un riche d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu. » 26 Les disciples étaient de plus en plus étonnés, et ils se demandèrent les uns aux autres : « Mais qui donc peut être sauvé ? » 27 Jésus les regarda et leur dit : « C’est impossible aux hommes, mais non à Dieu, car tout est possible à Dieu. » 28 Alors Pierre lui dit : « Écoute, nous avons tout quitté pour te suivre. » 29 Jésus lui répondit : « Je vous le déclare, c’est la vérité : si quelqu’un quitte, pour moi et pour la Bonne Nouvelle, sa maison, ou ses frères, ses sœurs, sa mère, son père, ses enfants, ses champs, 30 il recevra cent fois plus dans le temps où nous vivons maintenant : des maisons, des frères, des sœurs, des mères, des enfants et des champs, avec des persécutions aussi ; et dans le monde futur, il recevra la vie éternelle.
31 Mais beaucoup qui sont maintenant les premiers seront les derniers, et ceux qui sont maintenant les derniers seront les premiers. »Jésus annonce une troisième fois sa mort et sa résurrection

32 Ils étaient en chemin pour monter à Jérusalem. Jésus marchait devant ses disciples, qui étaient inquiets, et ceux qui les suivaient avaient peur. Jésus prit de nouveau les douze disciples avec lui et se mit à leur parler de ce qui allait bientôt lui arriver. 33 Il leur dit : « Écoutez, nous montons à Jérusalem, où le Fils de l’homme sera livré aux chefs des prêtres et aux maîtres de la loi. Ils le condamneront à mort et le livreront aux païens.
34 Ceux-ci se moqueront de lui, cracheront sur lui, le frapperont à coups de fouet et le mettront à mort. Et, après trois jours, il se relèvera de la mort. »La demande de Jacques et Jean

35 Alors, Jacques et Jean, les fils de Zébédée, vinrent auprès de Jésus. Ils lui dirent : « Maître, nous désirons que tu fasses pour nous ce que nous te demanderons. » – 36 « Que voulez-vous que je fasse pour vous ? » leur dit Jésus. 37 Ils lui répondirent : « Quand tu seras dans ton règne glorieux, accorde-nous de siéger à côté de toi, l’un à ta droite, l’autre à ta gauche. » 38 Mais Jésus leur dit : « Vous ne savez pas ce que vous demandez. Pouvez-vous boire la coupe de douleur que je vais boire, ou recevoir le baptême de souffrance que je vais recevoir ? » 39 Et ils lui répondirent : « Nous le pouvons. » Jésus leur dit : « Vous boirez en effet la coupe que je vais boire et vous recevrez le baptême que je vais recevoirt.
40 Mais ce n’est pas à moi de décider qui siègera à ma droite ou à ma gauche ; ces places sont à ceux pour qui Dieu les a préparées. »
41 Quand les dix autres disciples entendirent cela, ils s’indignèrent contre Jacques et Jean. 42 Alors Jésus les appela tous et leur dit : « Vous le savez, ceux qu’on regarde comme les chefs des peuples les commandent en maîtres, et les grands personnages leur font sentir leur pouvoir. 43 Mais cela ne se passe pas ainsi parmi vous. Au contraire, si l’un de vous veut être grand, il doit être votre serviteur, 44 et si l’un de vous veut être le premier, il doit être l’esclave de tous.
45 Car le Fils de l’homme lui-même n’est pas venu pour se faire servir, mais il est venu pour servir et donner sa vie comme rançon pour libérer une multitude de genst. »Jésus guérit l’aveugle Bartimée

46 Ils arrivèrent à Jéricho. Lorsque Jésus sortit de cette ville avec ses disciples et une grande foule, un aveugle appelé Bartimée, le fils de Timée, était assis au bord du chemin et mendiait. 47 Quand il entendit que c’était Jésus de Nazareth, il se mit à crier : « Jésus, Fils de David, aie pitié de moi ! » 48 Beaucoup lui faisaient des reproches pour qu’il se taise, mais il criait encore plus fort : « Fils de David, aie pitié de moi ! » 49 Jésus s’arrêta et dit : « Appelez-le. » Ils appelèrent donc l’aveugle et lui dirent : « Courage, lève-toi, il t’appelle. » 50 Alors il jeta son manteau, sauta sur ses pieds et vint vers Jésus. 51 Jésus lui demanda : « Que veux-tu que je fasse pour toi ? » L’aveugle lui répondit : « Maître, fais que je voie de nouveau. » 52 Et Jésus lui dit : « Va, ta foi t’a guérit. » Aussitôt, il put voir, et il suivait Jésus sur le chemin.

1 And he arose from thence and cometh into the borders of Judaea and beyond the Jordan: and multitudes come together unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.2 And there came unto him Pharisees, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? trying him.3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.5 But Jesus said unto them, For your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.6 But from the beginning of the creation, Male and female made he them.7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife;8 and the two shall become one flesh: so that they are no more two, but one flesh.9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.10 And in the house the disciples asked him again of this matter.11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her:12 and if she herself shall put away her husband, and marry another, she committeth adultery.13 And they were bringing unto him little children, that he should touch them: and the disciples rebuked them.14 But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me; forbid them not: for to such belongeth the kingdom of God.15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall in no wise enter therein.16 And he took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.17 And as he was going forth into the way, there ran one to him, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good save one, even God.19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor thy father and mother.20 And he said unto him, Teacher, all these things have I observed from my youth.21 And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.22 But his countenance fell at the saying, and he went away sorrowful: for he was one that had great possessions.23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!24 And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!25 It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.26 And they were astonished exceedingly, saying unto him, Then who can be saved?27 Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for all things are possible with God.28 Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.29 Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children, or lands, for my sake, and for the gospel’s sake,30 but he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.32 And they were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going before them: and they were amazed; and they that followed were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them the things that were to happen unto him,33 saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him unto the Gentiles:34 and they shall mock him, and shall spit upon him, and shall scourge him, and shall kill him; and after three days he shall rise again.35 And there come near unto him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying unto him, Teacher, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall ask of thee.36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?37 And they said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy glory.38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I drink? or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?39 And they said unto him, We are able. And Jesus said unto them, The cup that I drink ye shall drink; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:40 but to sit on my right hand or on my left hand is not mine to give; but it is for them for whom it hath been prepared.41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be moved with indignation concerning James and John.42 And Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they who are accounted to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great ones exercise authority over them.43 But it is not so among you: but whosoever would become great among you, shall be your minister;44 and whosoever would be first among you, shall be servant of all.45 For the Son of man also came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.46 And they come to Jericho: and as he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the way side.47 And when he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.48 And many rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.49 And Jesus stood still, and said, Call ye him. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good cheer: rise, he calleth thee.50 And he, casting away his garment, sprang up, and came to Jesus.51 And Jesus answered him, and said, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? And the blind man said unto him, Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And straightway he received his sight, and followed him in the way.
