L’enseignement de Jésus sur la répudiation
Mt 19.1-9
1 tParti de là, il vient dans le territoire de la Judée et de l’autre côté du Jourdain. Les foules se rassemblent encore auprès de lui ; selon sa coutume, il se remit à les instruire.
2 tDes pharisiens vinrent lui demander, pour le mettre à l’épreuve, s’il est permis à un mari de répudier sa femme. 3 Il leur répondit : Que vous a commandé Moïse ? 4 t– Moïse, dirent-ils, a permis d’écrire une attestation de rupture et de répudier. 5 tJésus leur dit : C’est à cause de votre obstination qu’il a écrit pour vous ce commandement. 6 tMais au commencement de la création, Dieules fit homme et femme ; 7 tc’est pourquoi l’homme quittera son père et sa mère et s’attachera à sa femme, 8 tet les deux seront une seule chair. Ainsi ils ne sont plus deux, mais une seule chair.
9 Que l’homme ne sépare donc pas ce que Dieu a uni !
10 tLorsqu’ils furent à la maison, les disciples, à leur tour, se mirent à l’interroger à ce sujet. 11 tIl leur dit : Celui qui répudie sa femme et en épouse une autre commet l’adultère envers la première,
12 tet si une femme répudie son mari et en épouse un autre, elle commet l’adultère.Jésus et les enfants

13 tDes gens lui amenaient des enfants pour qu’il les touche de la main. Mais les disciples les rabrouèrent. 14 tVoyant cela, Jésus s’indigna ; il leur dit : Laissez les enfants venir à moi ; ne les en empêchez pas, car le royaume de Dieu est pour ceux qui sont comme eux. 15 tAmen, je vous le dis, quiconque n’accueillera pas le royaume de Dieu comme un enfant n’y entrera jamais.
16 tPuis il les prit dans ses bras et se mit à les bénir en posant les mains sur eux.Jésus et l’homme riche
Mt 19.16-30 ; Lc 18.18-30
17 tComme il se mettait en chemin, un homme accourut et se mit à genoux devant lui pour lui demander : Bon maître, que dois-je faire pour hériter la vie éternelle ? 18 tJésus lui dit : Pourquoi me dis-tu bon ? Personne n’est bon, sinon Dieu seul. 19 tTu connais les commandements :Ne commets pas de meurtre ; ne commets pas d’adultère ; ne commets pas de vol ; ne fais pas de faux témoignage ; ne fais de tort à personne ; honore ton père et ta mère. 20 Il lui répondit : Maître, j’ai observé tout cela depuis mon plus jeune âge. 21 tJésus le regarda et l’aima ; il lui dit : Il te manque une seule chose : va, vends tout ce que tu as, donne-le aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor dans le ciel. Puis viens et suis-moi.
22 tMais lui s’assombrit à cette parole et s’en alla tout triste, car il avait beaucoup de biens.
23 tJésus, regardant autour de lui, dit à ses disciples : Qu’il est difficile à ceux qui ont des biens d’entrer dans le royaume de Dieu !
24 tLes disciples étaient effrayés par ses paroles. Mais Jésus reprit : Mes enfants, qu’il est difficile d’entrer dans le royaume de Dieu ! 25 tIl est plus facile à un chameau de passer par le trou d’une aiguille qu’à un riche d’entrer dans le royaume de Dieu. 26 tLes disciples, plus ébahis encore, se disaient les uns aux autres : Alors, qui peut être sauvé ?
27 tJésus les regarda et dit : C’est impossible pour les humains, mais non pas pour Dieu, car tout est possible pour Dieu.
28 tPierre se mit à lui dire : Nous, nous avons tout quitté pour te suivre. 29 tJésus répondit :Amen, je vous le dis, il n’est personne qui ait quitté, à cause de moi et de la bonne nouvelle, maison, frères, sœurs, mère, père, enfants ou terres, 30 tet qui ne reçoive au centuple, dans le temps présent, maisons, frères, sœurs, mères, enfants et terres – avec des persécutions – et, dans le monde qui vient, la vie éternelle.
31 tBeaucoup de premiers seront derniers, et les derniers seront premiers.Jésus annonce une troisième fois sa mort et sa résurrection

32 tIls étaient en chemin pour monter à Jérusalem, et Jésus allait devant eux. Les disciples étaient effrayés, et ceux qui suivaient avaient peur. Il prit encore les Douze auprès de lui, et se mit à leur dire ce qui allait lui arriver : 33 tNous montons à Jérusalem ; le Fils de l’homme sera livré aux grands prêtres et aux scribes. Ils le condamneront à mort, le livreront aux non-Juifs,
34 tse moqueront de lui, lui cracheront dessus, le fouetteront et le tueront ; et trois jours après il se relèvera.La demande de Jacques et de Jean
Mt 20.20-28
35 tLes deux fils de Zébédée, Jacques et Jean, viennent lui dire : Maître, nous voudrions que tu fasses pour nous ce que nous te demanderons. 36 tIl leur dit : Que voulez-vous que je fasse pour vous ? 37 t– Donne-nous, lui dirent-ils, de nous asseoir l’un à ta droite et l’autre à ta gauche dans ta gloire. 38 tJésus leur dit : Vous ne savez pas ce que vous demandez. Pouvez-vous boire la coupe que, moi, je bois, ou recevoir le baptême que, moi, je reçois ? 39 tIls lui dirent : Nous le pouvons. Jésus leur répondit : La coupe que, moi, je bois, vous la boirez, et vous recevrez le baptême que je reçois ;
40 tmais pour ce qui est de s’asseoir à ma droite ou à ma gauche, ce n’est pas à moi de le donner ; les places sont à ceux pour qui elles ont été préparées.
41 tLes dix autres, qui avaient entendu, commencèrent à s’indigner contre Jacques et Jean. 42 tJésus les appela et leur dit : Vous savez que ceux qui paraissent gouverner les nations dominent sur elles en seigneurs, et que les grands leur font sentir leur autorité. 43 tIl n’en est pas de même parmi vous. Au contraire, quiconque veut devenir grand parmi vous sera votre serviteur ; 44 tet quiconque veut être le premier parmi vous sera l’esclave de tous.
45 tCar le Fils de l’homme n’est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir et donner sa vie en rançon pour une multitude.Jésus guérit l’aveugle Bartimée

46 tIls viennent à Jéricho. Et comme il sortait de Jéricho, avec ses disciples et une foule importante, un mendiant aveugle, Bartimée, fils de Timée, était assis au bord du chemin. 47 tIl entendit que c’était Jésus le Nazaréen et se mit à crier : Fils de David, Jésus, aie compassion de moi ! 48 tBeaucoup le rabrouaient pour le faire taire ; mais il criait d’autant plus : Fils de David, aie compassion de moi ! 49 Jésus s’arrêta et dit : Appelez-le. Ils appelèrent l’aveugle en lui disant : Courage ! Lève-toi, il t’appelle ! 50 Il jeta son vêtement, se leva d’un bond et vint vers Jésus. 51 tJésus lui demanda : Que veux-tu que je fasse pour toi ? –Rabbouni, lui dit l’aveugle, que je retrouve la vue ! 52 tJésus lui dit : Va, ta foi t’a sauvé. Aussitôt il retrouva la vue et se mit à le suivre sur le chemin.

1 And he arose from thence and cometh into the borders of Judaea and beyond the Jordan: and multitudes come together unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.2 And there came unto him Pharisees, and asked him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife? trying him.3 And he answered and said unto them, What did Moses command you?4 And they said, Moses suffered to write a bill of divorcement, and to put her away.5 But Jesus said unto them, For your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment.6 But from the beginning of the creation, Male and female made he them.7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife;8 and the two shall become one flesh: so that they are no more two, but one flesh.9 What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.10 And in the house the disciples asked him again of this matter.11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her:12 and if she herself shall put away her husband, and marry another, she committeth adultery.13 And they were bringing unto him little children, that he should touch them: and the disciples rebuked them.14 But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me; forbid them not: for to such belongeth the kingdom of God.15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall in no wise enter therein.16 And he took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands upon them.17 And as he was going forth into the way, there ran one to him, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good save one, even God.19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not kill, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor thy father and mother.20 And he said unto him, Teacher, all these things have I observed from my youth.21 And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.22 But his countenance fell at the saying, and he went away sorrowful: for he was one that had great possessions.23 And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!24 And the disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!25 It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.26 And they were astonished exceedingly, saying unto him, Then who can be saved?27 Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for all things are possible with God.28 Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.29 Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children, or lands, for my sake, and for the gospel’s sake,30 but he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.31 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.32 And they were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going before them: and they were amazed; and they that followed were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them the things that were to happen unto him,33 saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests and the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him unto the Gentiles:34 and they shall mock him, and shall spit upon him, and shall scourge him, and shall kill him; and after three days he shall rise again.35 And there come near unto him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying unto him, Teacher, we would that thou shouldest do for us whatsoever we shall ask of thee.36 And he said unto them, What would ye that I should do for you?37 And they said unto him, Grant unto us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy glory.38 But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I drink? or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?39 And they said unto him, We are able. And Jesus said unto them, The cup that I drink ye shall drink; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:40 but to sit on my right hand or on my left hand is not mine to give; but it is for them for whom it hath been prepared.41 And when the ten heard it, they began to be moved with indignation concerning James and John.42 And Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they who are accounted to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great ones exercise authority over them.43 But it is not so among you: but whosoever would become great among you, shall be your minister;44 and whosoever would be first among you, shall be servant of all.45 For the Son of man also came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.46 And they come to Jericho: and as he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the way side.47 And when he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.48 And many rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried out the more a great deal, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.49 And Jesus stood still, and said, Call ye him. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good cheer: rise, he calleth thee.50 And he, casting away his garment, sprang up, and came to Jesus.51 And Jesus answered him, and said, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? And the blind man said unto him, Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And straightway he received his sight, and followed him in the way.
