Il ripudio

1 Poi Gesù partì di là e se ne andò nei territori della Giudea {e} oltre il Giordano. Di nuovo si radunarono presso di lui delle folle; e di nuovo egli insegnava loro come era solito fare.
2 Dei farisei si avvicinarono a lui per metterlo alla prova, dicendo: «È lecito a un marito mandare via la moglie?»3 Egli rispose loro: «Che cosa vi ha comandato Mosè?»4 Essi dissero: «Mosè permise discrivere un atto di ripudio e di mandarla via t».5 Gesù disse loro: «È per la durezza del vostro cuore che Mosè scrisse per voi quella norma;6 ma al principio della creazione Dioli creò maschio e femmina.7 Perciò l'uomo lascerà suo padre e sua madre {e si unirà a sua moglie},8 e i due saranno una sola carne t.Così non sono più due, ma una sola carne.

9 L'uomo, dunque, non separi quel che Dio ha unito».
10 Incasa i discepoli lo interrogarono di nuovo sullo stesso argomento.11 Egli disse loro: «Chiunque manda via sua moglie e ne sposa un'altra, commette adulterio verso di lei;

12 e se lei ripudia suo marito e ne sposa un altro, commette adulterio».

Gesù benedice i bambini

13 Gli presentavano dei bambini perché li toccasse; ma i discepoli sgridavano coloro che glieli presentavano.14 Gesù, veduto ciò, si indignò e disse loro: «Lasciate che i bambini vengano da me; non glielo vietate, perché il regno di Dio è di chi è come loro.15 Inverità io vi dico che chiunque non avrà ricevuto il regno di Dio come un bambino, non vi entrerà affatto».

16 E, presili in braccio, li benediceva ponendo le mani su di loro.

Il giovane ricco

17 Mentre Gesù usciva per la via, un tale accorse e, inginocchiatosi davanti a lui, gli domandò: «Maestro buono, che cosa devo fare per ereditare la vita eterna?»18 Gesù gli disse: «Perché mi chiami buono? Nessuno è buono, tranne uno solo, cioè Dio.19 Tu sai i comandamenti:"Non uccidere; non commettere adulterio; non rubare; non dire falsa testimonianza;non frodare nessuno;onora tuo padre e tua madre" t».20 Ed egli gli disse: «Maestro, tutte queste cose le ho osservate fin dalla mia gioventù».21 Gesù, guardatolo, l'amò e gli disse: «Una cosa ti manca! Va', vendi tutto ciò che hai e dàllo ai poveri, e avrai un tesoro in cielo; poi vieni e seguimi».22 Ma egli, rattristato da quella parola, se ne andò dolente perché aveva molti beni.23 Gesù, guardatosi attorno, disse ai suoi discepoli: «Quanto difficilmente coloro che hanno delle ricchezze entreranno nel regno di Dio!»24 I discepoli si stupirono di queste sue parole. E Gesù replicò loro: «Figlioli, quanto è difficile entrare nel regno di Dio!25 È più facile per un cammello passare attraverso la cruna di un ago, che per un ricco entrare nel regno di Dio».26 Ed essi, sempre più stupiti, dicevano tra di loro: «Chi dunque può essere salvato?»

27 Gesù fissò lo sguardo su di loro e disse: «Agli uomini è impossibile, ma non a Dio; perché ogni cosa è possibile a Dio».
28 Pietro gli disse: «Ecco, noi abbiamo lasciato ogni cosa e ti abbiamo seguito».29 Gesù disse: «In verità vi dico che non vi è nessuno che abbia lasciato casa, o fratelli, o sorelle, o madre,o padre, o figli, o campi, a causa mia e a causa del vangelo,30 il quale ora, in questo tempo, non ne riceva cento volte tanto: case, fratelli, sorelle, madri, figli, campi, insieme a persecuzioni e, nel secolo a venire, la vita eterna.

31 Ma molti primi saranno ultimi e gli ultimi, primi».

Gesù predice per la terza volta la Passione e la risurrezione

32 Mentre erano in cammino salendo a Gerusalemme, Gesù andava davanti a loro; essi erano turbati; quelli che seguivano erano pieni di timore. Egli prese di nuovo da parte i dodici e cominciò a dir loro le cose che stavano per accadergli:33 «Noi saliamo a Gerusalemme e il Figlio dell'uomo sarà dato nelle mani dei capi dei sacerdoti e degli scribi. Essi lo condanneranno a morte e lo consegneranno ai pagani,

34 i quali lo scherniranno, gli sputeranno addosso, lo flagelleranno e lo uccideranno; ma dopo tre giorni egli risusciterà».

Risposta di Gesù alla domanda di Giacomo e di Giovanni

35 Giacomo e Giovanni, figli di Zebedeo, si avvicinarono a lui, dicendogli: «Maestro, desideriamo che tu faccia per noi quello che ti chiederemo».36 Egli disse loro: «Che volete che io faccia per voi?»37 Essi gli dissero: «Concedici di sedere uno alla tua destra e l'altro alla tua sinistra nella tua gloria».38 Ma Gesù disse loro: «Voi non sapete quello che chiedete. Potete voi bere il calice che io bevo, o essere battezzati del battesimo del quale io sono battezzato?»39 Essi gli dissero: «Lo possiamo». E Gesù disse loro: «Voi certo berrete il calice che io bevo e sarete battezzati del battesimo del quale io sono battezzato;40 ma quanto al sedersi alla mia destra o alla mia sinistra, non sta a me concederlo, ma è per quelli a cui è stato preparato».41 I dieci, udito ciò, cominciarono a indignarsi con Giacomo e Giovanni.42 Ma Gesù, chiamatili a sé, disse loro: «Voi sapete che quelli che sono reputati prìncipi delle nazioni le signoreggiano e che i loro grandi esercitano autorità su di esse.43 Ma non è così tra di voi; anzi, chiunque vorrà essere grande fra voi sarà vostro servitore;44 e chiunque tra di voi vorrà essere primo sarà servo di tutti.

45 Poiché anche il Figlio dell'uomo non è venuto per essere servito, ma per servire e per dare la sua vita come prezzo di riscatto per molti».

Gesù guarisce Bartimeo, il cieco

46 Poi giunsero a Gerico. E come Gesù usciva da Gerico con i suoi discepoli e con una gran folla, il figlio di Timeo, Bartimeo, cieco mendicante, sedeva presso la strada.47 Udito che chi passava era Gesù il Nazareno, si mise a gridare e a dire: «Gesù, Figlio di Davide t, abbi pietà di me!»48 E molti lo sgridavano perché tacesse, ma quello gridava più forte: «Figlio di Davide, abbi pietà di me!»49 Gesù, fermatosi, disse: «Chiamatelo!» E chiamarono il cieco, dicendogli: «Coraggio, àlzati! Egli ti chiama».50 Allora il cieco, gettato via il mantello, balzò in piedi e venne da Gesù.51 E Gesù, rivolgendosi a lui, gli disse: «Che cosa vuoi che ti faccia?» Il cieco gli rispose: «Rabbunì, che io recuperi la vista».

52 Gesù gli disse: «Va', la tua fede ti ha salvato». In quell'istante egli recuperò la vista e lo seguiva per la via.

MARK 10

Teaching about Divorce

(Matthew 19.1-12; Luke 16.18)

1 After Jesus left, he went to Judea and then on to the other side of the Jordan River. Once again large crowds came to him, and as usual, he taught them.
2 Some Pharisees wanted to test Jesus. So they came up to him and asked if it was right for a man to divorce his wife.

3 Jesus asked them, “What does the Law of Moses say about this?”

4  t They answered, “Moses allows a man to write out divorce papers and send his wife away.”
5 Jesus replied, “Moses gave you this law because you are so heartless. 6 t But in the beginning God made a man and a woman. 7 t That's why a man leaves his father and mother and gets married. 8 He becomes like one person with his wife. Then they are no longer two people, but one.

9 And no one should separate a couple that God has joined together.”
10 When Jesus and his disciples were back in the house, they asked him about what he had said. 11 t He told them, “A man who divorces his wife and marries someone else is unfaithful to his wife.

12 A woman who divorces her husbandt and marries again is also unfaithful.”

Jesus Blesses Little Children

(Matthew 19.13-15; Luke 18.15-17)

13 Some people brought their children to Jesus so he could bless them by placing his hands on them. But his disciples told the people to stop bothering him.
14 When Jesus saw this, he became angry and said, “Let the children come to me! Don't try to stop them. People who are like these little children belong to the kingdom of God.t 15 t I promise you that you cannot get into God's kingdom, unless you accept it the way a child does.”

16 Then Jesus took the children in his arms and blessed them by placing his hands on them.

A Rich Man

(Matthew 19.16-30; Luke 18.18-30)

17 As Jesus was walking down a road, a man ran up to him. He knelt down, and asked, “Good teacher, what can I do to have eternal life?”
18 Jesus replied, “Why do you call me good? Only God is good.

19 t You know the commandments. ‘Do not murder. Be faithful in marriage. Do not steal. Do not tell lies about others. Do not cheat. Respect your father and mother.’ ”

20 The man answered, “Teacher, I have obeyed all these commandments since I was a young man.”

21 Jesus looked closely at the man. He liked him and said, “There's one thing you still need to do. Go sell everything you own. Give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come with me.”

22 When the man heard Jesus say this, he went away gloomy and sad because he was very rich.
23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “It's hard for rich people to get into God's kingdom!” 24 The disciples were shocked to hear this. So Jesus told them again, “It's terribly hardt to get into God's kingdom!

25 In fact, it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into God's kingdom.”

26 Jesus' disciples were even more amazed. They asked each other, “How can anyone ever be saved?”

27 Jesus looked at them and said, “There are some things that people cannot do, but God can do anything.”

28 Peter replied, “Remember, we left everything to be your followers!”

29 Jesus told him:
You can be sure that anyone who gives up home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or land for me and for the good news 30 will be rewarded. In this world they will be given 100 times as many houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and pieces of land, though they will also be mistreated. And in the world to come, they will have eternal life.

31 t But many who are now first will be last, and many who are now last will be first.

Jesus Again //Tells about His Death

(Matthew 20.17-19; Luke 18.31-34)

32 The disciples were confused as Jesus led them toward Jerusalem, and his other followers were afraid. Once again, Jesus took the twelve disciples aside and told them what was going to happen to him. He said:
33 We are now on our way to Jerusalem where the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the teachers of the Law of Moses. They will sentence him to death and hand him over to foreigners, t

34 who will make fun of him and spit on him. They will beat him and kill him. But three days later he will rise to life.

The Request of James //and John

(Matthew 20.20-28)

35 James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, will you do us a favor?”
36 Jesus asked them what they wanted,

37 and they answered, “When you come into your glory, please let one of us sit at your right side and the other at your left.”t

38  t Jesus told them, “You don't really know what you're asking! Are you able to drink from the cupt that I must soon drink from or be baptized as I must be baptized?”t

39 “Yes, we are!” James and John answered.
Then Jesus replied, “You certainly will drink from the cup from which I must drink. And you will be baptized just as I must!

40 But it isn't for me to say who will sit at my right side and at my left. This is for God to decide.”
41 When the ten other disciples heard this, they were angry with James and John.

42 t But Jesus called the disciples together and said:
You know that those foreigners who call themselves kings like to order their people around. And their great leaders have full power over the people they rule. 43 t But don't act like them. If you want to be great, you must be the servant of all the others. 44 And if you want to be first, you must be everyone's slave.

45 t The Son of Man did not come to be a slave master, but a slave who will give his life to rescuet many people.

Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus

(Matthew 20.29-34; Luke 18.35-43)

48 Many people told the man to stop, but he shouted even louder, “Son of David, have pity on me!”

49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him over!”
They called out to the blind man and said, “Don't be afraid! Come on! He is calling for you.”

50 The man threw off his coat as he jumped up and ran to Jesus.

51 Jesus asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”
The blind man answered, “Master, t I want to see!”

52 Jesus told him, “You may go. Your eyes are healed because of your faith.”
At once the man could see, and he went down the road with Jesus.
