Äktenskap och skilsmässa

1 Sedan bröt han upp därifrån och kom till den del av Judeen som ligger på andra sidan Jordan. Folk samlades kring honom igen, och som vanligt undervisade han dem. 2 Då kom några fariseer fram, och för att sätta honom på prov frågade de: ”Är det tillåtet för en man att skilja sig från sin hustru?” 3 Han sade: ”Vilka bestämmelser har Mose gett er?” 4 De svarade: ”Mose tillåter att man skriver ett skilsmässobrev och skiljer sig.” 5 Jesus sade: ”Ja, därför att ni är förstockade skrev han denna bestämmelse. 6 Men vid skapelsen gjorde Gud dem till man och kvinna. 7  Därför skall en man lämna sin far och sin mor för att leva med sin hustru, 8  och de två skall bli ett. De är inte längre två utan ett. 9 Vad Gud har fogat samman får människan alltså inte skilja åt.” 10 När de kom hem frågade lärjungarna honom på nytt om detta. 11 Han svarade: ”Den som skiljer sig från sin hustru och gifter om sig är en äktenskapsbrytare,

12 och om hon skiljer sig från sin man och gifter om sig är hon en äktenskapsbryterska.”

Jesus och barnen

13 Folk kom till honom med barn för att han skulle röra vid dem. Men lärjungarna visade bort dem. 14 När Jesus såg det blev han förargad och sade: ”Låt barnen komma hit till mig och hindra dem inte: Guds rike tillhör sådana som de. 15 Sannerligen, den som inte tar emot Guds rike som ett barn kommer aldrig dit in.”

16 Och han tog dem i famnen, lade händerna på dem och välsignade dem.

En man som ägde mycket

17 När han skulle fortsätta sin vandring sprang en man fram och föll på knä för honom och frågade: ”Gode mästare, vad skall jag göra för att vinna evigt liv?” 18 Jesus svarade: ”Varför kallar du mig god? Ingen är god utom Gud. 19 Du kan budorden: Du skall inte dräpa , Du skall inte begå äktenskapsbrott , Du skall inte stjäla , Du skall inte vittna falskt , Du skall inte ta ifrån någon det som är hans , Visa aktning för din far och din mor .” — 20 ”Mästare”, sade mannen, ”allt detta har jag hållit sedan jag var ung.” 21 Jesus såg på honom med kärlek och sade: ”Ett fattas dig. Gå och sälj allt du har och ge åt de fattiga; då får du en skatt i himlen. Kom sedan och följ mig.”

22 Vid de orden mörknade mannen och gick bedrövad sin väg, för han ägde mycket.
23 Jesus såg sig om och sade till sina lärjungar: ”Hur svårt blir det inte för dem som har pengar att komma in i Guds rike!” 24 Lärjungarna blev bestörta över hans ord, men Jesus sade igen: ”Mina barn, hur svårt är det inte att komma in i Guds rike! 25 Det är lättare för en kamel att komma igenom ett nålsöga än för en rik att komma in i Guds rike.” 26 De blev ännu mer förskräckta och sade till varandra: ”Vem kan då bli räddad?” 27 Jesus såg på dem och sade: ”För människor är det omöjligt, men inte för Gud. Ty för Gud är allting möjligt.” 28 Då sade Petrus till honom: ”Vi har ju lämnat allt och följt dig.” 29 Jesus svarade: ”Sannerligen, var och en som för min och evangeliets skull har lämnat hus eller bröder eller systrar eller mor eller far eller barn eller åkrar 30 skall få hundrafalt igen. Här i världen skall han få hus och bröder och systrar och mödrar och barn och åkrar mitt under förföljelser, och sedan evigt liv i den kommande världen.

31 Många som är sist skall bli först, och många som är först skall bli sist.”

Tredje förutsägelsen om Människosonens lidande

32 De var nu på väg upp mot Jerusalem, och Jesus gick först. De var fyllda av bävan, och de andra som följde med var rädda. Då samlade han de tolv och talade om för dem vad som skulle hända med honom: 33 ”Vi går nu upp till Jerusalem. Människosonen skall utlämnas åt översteprästerna och de skriftlärda, och de skall döma honom till döden och utlämna honom åt hedningarna,

34 som skall göra narr av honom och spotta på honom, prygla honom och döda honom, och efter tre dagar skall han uppstå.”

Lärjungarna som ville ha hedersplatsen

35 Jakob och Johannes, Sebedaios söner, gick fram till honom och sade: ”Mästare, vi vill be dig om en sak.” — 36 ”Vad vill ni att jag skall göra för er?” frågade han. 37 De svarade: ”Låt oss få sitta bredvid dig i din härlighet, den ene till höger och den andre till vänster.” 38 Jesus sade: ”Ni vet inte vad ni ber om. Kan ni dricka den bägare som jag dricker eller döpas med det dop som jag döps med?” 39 De svarade: ”Ja, det kan vi.” Jesus sade: ”Den bägare som jag dricker skall ni få dricka, och det dop som jag döps med skall ni döpas med. 40 Men platserna till höger och vänster om mig kan jag bara ge dem som har bestämts därtill.” 41 När de andra tio hörde detta blev de förargade på Jakob och Johannes. 42 Jesus kallade till sig dem och sade: ”Ni vet att de som räknas som härskare är herrar över sina folk och att furstarna har makten över folken. 43 Men så är det inte hos er. Den som vill vara stor bland er skall vara de andras tjänare, 44 och den som vill vara den förste bland er skall vara allas slav.

45 Människosonen har inte kommit för att bli tjänad utan för att tjäna och ge sitt liv till lösen för många.”

Den blinde Bartimaios utanför Jeriko botas

46 De kom till Jeriko. Och när han tillsammans med lärjungarna och en stor folkhop lämnade staden satt där vid vägen en blind tiggare, Bartimaios, son till Timaios. 47 Då han fick höra att det var Jesus från Nasaret började han ropa: ”Jesus, Davids son, förbarma dig över mig!” 48 Många sade åt honom att hålla tyst, men han ropade ännu högre: ”Davids son, förbarma dig över mig!” 49 Jesus stannade och sade: ”Kalla hit honom.” De gjorde det och sade till den blinde: ”Var lugn. Stig upp, han kallar på dig.” 50 Då kastade han av sig manteln och sprang upp och kom fram till Jesus, 51 och Jesus frågade honom: ”Vad vill du att jag skall göra för dig?” Den blinde sade: ”Rabbouni, gör så att jag kan se igen.” 52 Jesus sade: ”Gå, din tro har hjälpt dig.” Genast kunde mannen se, och han följde honom på vägen.

MARK 10

Teaching about Divorce

(Matthew 19.1-12; Luke 16.18)

1 After Jesus left, he went to Judea and then on to the other side of the Jordan River. Once again large crowds came to him, and as usual, he taught them.
2 Some Pharisees wanted to test Jesus. So they came up to him and asked if it was right for a man to divorce his wife.

3 Jesus asked them, “What does the Law of Moses say about this?”

4  t They answered, “Moses allows a man to write out divorce papers and send his wife away.”
5 Jesus replied, “Moses gave you this law because you are so heartless. 6 t But in the beginning God made a man and a woman. 7 t That's why a man leaves his father and mother and gets married. 8 He becomes like one person with his wife. Then they are no longer two people, but one.

9 And no one should separate a couple that God has joined together.”
10 When Jesus and his disciples were back in the house, they asked him about what he had said. 11 t He told them, “A man who divorces his wife and marries someone else is unfaithful to his wife.

12 A woman who divorces her husbandt and marries again is also unfaithful.”

Jesus Blesses Little Children

(Matthew 19.13-15; Luke 18.15-17)

13 Some people brought their children to Jesus so he could bless them by placing his hands on them. But his disciples told the people to stop bothering him.
14 When Jesus saw this, he became angry and said, “Let the children come to me! Don't try to stop them. People who are like these little children belong to the kingdom of God.t 15 t I promise you that you cannot get into God's kingdom, unless you accept it the way a child does.”

16 Then Jesus took the children in his arms and blessed them by placing his hands on them.

A Rich Man

(Matthew 19.16-30; Luke 18.18-30)

17 As Jesus was walking down a road, a man ran up to him. He knelt down, and asked, “Good teacher, what can I do to have eternal life?”
18 Jesus replied, “Why do you call me good? Only God is good.

19 t You know the commandments. ‘Do not murder. Be faithful in marriage. Do not steal. Do not tell lies about others. Do not cheat. Respect your father and mother.’ ”

20 The man answered, “Teacher, I have obeyed all these commandments since I was a young man.”

21 Jesus looked closely at the man. He liked him and said, “There's one thing you still need to do. Go sell everything you own. Give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come with me.”

22 When the man heard Jesus say this, he went away gloomy and sad because he was very rich.
23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “It's hard for rich people to get into God's kingdom!” 24 The disciples were shocked to hear this. So Jesus told them again, “It's terribly hardt to get into God's kingdom!

25 In fact, it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into God's kingdom.”

26 Jesus' disciples were even more amazed. They asked each other, “How can anyone ever be saved?”

27 Jesus looked at them and said, “There are some things that people cannot do, but God can do anything.”

28 Peter replied, “Remember, we left everything to be your followers!”

29 Jesus told him:
You can be sure that anyone who gives up home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or land for me and for the good news 30 will be rewarded. In this world they will be given 100 times as many houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and pieces of land, though they will also be mistreated. And in the world to come, they will have eternal life.

31 t But many who are now first will be last, and many who are now last will be first.

Jesus Again //Tells about His Death

(Matthew 20.17-19; Luke 18.31-34)

32 The disciples were confused as Jesus led them toward Jerusalem, and his other followers were afraid. Once again, Jesus took the twelve disciples aside and told them what was going to happen to him. He said:
33 We are now on our way to Jerusalem where the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the teachers of the Law of Moses. They will sentence him to death and hand him over to foreigners, t

34 who will make fun of him and spit on him. They will beat him and kill him. But three days later he will rise to life.

The Request of James //and John

(Matthew 20.20-28)

35 James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, will you do us a favor?”
36 Jesus asked them what they wanted,

37 and they answered, “When you come into your glory, please let one of us sit at your right side and the other at your left.”t

38  t Jesus told them, “You don't really know what you're asking! Are you able to drink from the cupt that I must soon drink from or be baptized as I must be baptized?”t

39 “Yes, we are!” James and John answered.
Then Jesus replied, “You certainly will drink from the cup from which I must drink. And you will be baptized just as I must!

40 But it isn't for me to say who will sit at my right side and at my left. This is for God to decide.”
41 When the ten other disciples heard this, they were angry with James and John.

42 t But Jesus called the disciples together and said:
You know that those foreigners who call themselves kings like to order their people around. And their great leaders have full power over the people they rule. 43 t But don't act like them. If you want to be great, you must be the servant of all the others. 44 And if you want to be first, you must be everyone's slave.

45 t The Son of Man did not come to be a slave master, but a slave who will give his life to rescuet many people.

Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus

(Matthew 20.29-34; Luke 18.35-43)

46 Jesus and his disciples went to Jericho. And as they were leaving, they were followed by a large crowd. A blind beggar by the name of Bartimaeus son of Timaeus was sitting beside the road. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus from Nazareth, he shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, t have pity on me!”

48 Many people told the man to stop, but he shouted even louder, “Son of David, have pity on me!”

49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him over!”
They called out to the blind man and said, “Don't be afraid! Come on! He is calling for you.”

50 The man threw off his coat as he jumped up and ran to Jesus.

51 Jesus asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”
The blind man answered, “Master, t I want to see!”

52 Jesus told him, “You may go. Your eyes are healed because of your faith.”
At once the man could see, and he went down the road with Jesus.
