Marcos 10

Jesús enseña sobre el divorcio

1 Jesús salió del pueblo de Cafarnaúm, y se fue a la región de Judea y a los lugares que están al este del río Jordán. Una vez más, mucha gente se reunió a su alrededor y, como siempre, Jesús empezó a enseñar.

2 Unos fariseos se acercaron a él para ponerle una trampa, y le preguntaron:

—¿Puede un hombre divorciarse de su esposa?

3 Jesús les respondió:

—¿Qué les mandó hacer Moisés?

4 Ellos dijeron:

—Moisés permitió al esposo escribir un certificado de divorcio y echar de la casa a su esposa.

5 Entonces Jesús dijo:

—Si Moisés les dejó escrito ese mandamiento , es porque ustedes son muy tercos.6 Pero desde el principio Dios hizo al hombre y a la mujer para que vivieran juntos.7 Por eso el hombre tiene que dejar a su padre y a su madre para casarse y vivir con su mujer.8 Los dos vivirán como si fueran una sola persona. Así que, los que se casan ya no viven como dos personas separadas, sino como si fueran una sola persona.

9 Si Dios ha unido a un hombre y a una mujer, nadie debe separarlos.

10 Más tarde, cuando ya estaban en casa, los discípulos preguntaron de nuevo a Jesús acerca del divorcio.11 Él les respondió: «Si un hombre se divorcia de su esposa y se casa con otra mujer, comete pecado , pues sería infiel a su esposa.

12 Y si la mujer deja a su esposo y se casa con otro hombre, también comete el mismo pecado.»

Jesús bendice a los niños

13 Hubo quienes llevaron a sus niños para que Jesús los tocara y los bendijera . Pero los discípulos las regañaron.

14 Al ver Jesús lo que estaban haciendo sus discípulos, se enojó con ellos y les dijo:

«Dejen que los niños se acerquen a mí. No se lo impidan, porque el reino de Dios es de los que son como ellos.

15 Les aseguro que quien no confía en Dios como lo hace un niño, no puede ser parte del reino de Dios.»

16 Jesús tomó en sus brazos a los niños y, poniendo sus manos sobre ellos, los bendijo.

El hombre rico

17 Mientras Jesús iba de camino, un hombre llegó corriendo, se arrodilló delante de él y le preguntó:

—Maestro bueno, dime, ¿qué debo hacer para tener vida eterna?

18 Jesús le contestó:

—¿Por qué dices que soy bueno? Sólo Dios es bueno.

19 Tú conoces bien los mandamientos : No mates, no seas infiel en tu matrimonio, no robes, no mientas para hacerle daño a otra persona, no hagas trampas, obedece y cuida a tu padre y a tu madre.

20 El hombre le dijo:

—Maestro, todos esos mandamientos los he obedecido desde que era niño.

21 Jesús lo miró con amor y le dijo:

—Sólo te falta hacer una cosa. Ve y vende todo lo que tienes, y reparte ese dinero entre los pobres. Así, Dios te dará un gran premio en el cielo. Después de eso, ven y conviértete en uno de mis seguidores.

22 Al oír esto, el hombre se puso muy triste y se fue desanimado, porque era muy rico.

23 Jesús miró a su alrededor y dijo a sus discípulos :

—¡Es muy difícil que una persona rica acepte a Dios como su rey!

24 Los discípulos se sorprendieron al oír eso, pero Jesús volvió a decirles:

—Amigos, ¡es muy difícil entrar en el reino de Dios !

25 Es más fácil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja, que una persona rica entre en el reino de Dios.

26 Los discípulos se sorprendieron mucho al oír lo que Jesús dijo, y comentaban entre ellos:

—Entonces, ¿quién podrá salvarse ?

27 Jesús los miró y les dijo:

—Para los seres humanos eso es imposible, pero todo es posible para Dios.

28 Pedro le dijo:

—Recuerda que nosotros hemos dejado todo lo que teníamos y te hemos seguido.

29 Jesús les respondió:

—Les aseguro que quien haya dejado algo por seguirme y por anunciar las buenas noticias , recibirá su premio. Si dejó a sus hermanos o hermanas, a su padre o a su madre, a sus hijos, su casa o algún terreno,30 recibirá en esta vida cien veces más casas, terrenos y familiares, aunque también será maltratado por sus enemigos. Y cuando muera, vivirá con Dios para siempre;

31 pero muchos que ahora son importantes, serán los menos importantes; y muchos que ahora no son importantes, serán los más importantes.

Jesús habla otra vez de su muerte

32 Los discípulos iban confundidos, mientras Jesús caminaba delante de ellos hacia Jerusalén. Por su parte, los otros seguidores estaban llenos de miedo. Jesús volvió a reunirse a solas con los doce discípulos, y les contó lo que le iba a pasar:

33 «Como pueden ver, ahora vamos a Jerusalén. Y a mí, el Hijo del hombre , me entregarán a los sacerdotes principales y a los maestros de la Ley . Me condenarán a muerte y me entregarán a los enemigos de nuestro pueblo,

34 para que se burlen de mí, y para que me escupan en la cara y me maten; pero después de tres días resucitaré.»

La petición de Santiago y de Juan

35 Sus discípulos Santiago y Juan, que eran hijos de Zebedeo, se acercaron a Jesús y le dijeron:

—Maestro, queremos que nos hagas un favor.

36 Jesús les preguntó:

—¿Qué es lo que quieren?

37 Ellos le contestaron:

—Por favor, cuando estés en tu reino poderoso, déjanos sentarnos a tu lado, uno a tu derecha y el otro a tu izquierda. t

38 Jesús respondió:

—Ustedes no saben lo que piden. ¿Están dispuestos a sufrir todo lo malo que va a pasarme?

39 Ellos dijeron:

—Sí, lo estamos.

Jesús les dijo:

—Les aseguro que ustedes sufrirán mucho, igual que yo.

40 Pero sólo Dios decide quiénes serán los más importantes en mi reino. Eso no lo decido yo.

41 Cuando los otros diez discípulos supieron lo que Santiago y Juan habían pedido, se enojaron con ellos.

42 Entonces Jesús los llamó a todos y les dijo:

—Ustedes saben que los que se sienten jefes y grandes señores se portan como los amos del mundo e imponen su autoridad sobre todos.43 Pero entre ustedes no debe ser así. Al contrario, si alguien quiere ser importante, tendrá que servir a los demás.44 Si alguno quiere ser el primero, deberá ser el esclavo de todos.

45 Yo, el Hijo del hombre , soy así. No vine a este mundo para que me sirvan, sino para servir a los demás. Vine para liberar a la gente que es esclava del pecado , y para lograrlo pagaré con mi vida.

Jesús y el ciego Bartimeo

46 Jesús y sus discípulos pasaron por la ciudad de Jericó, y al salir de allí mucha gente los siguió. Junto al camino estaba sentado un ciego que pedía limosna. Se llamaba Bartimeo hijo de Timeo.

47 Cuando Bartimeo oyó que Jesús de Nazaret estaba pasando por allí, empezó a gritar:

—Jesús, tú que eres el Mesías , ¡ten compasión de mí y ayúdame!

48 La gente comenzó a reprender al ciego para que se callara, pero él gritaba con más fuerza todavía:

—Señor, tú que eres el Mesías, ¡ten compasión de mí y ayúdame!

49 Entonces Jesús se detuvo y dijo:

—Llámenlo.

La gente llamó al ciego y le dijo:

—¡No tengas miedo! Ven, que Jesús te llama.

50 El ciego tiró su manto, y de un salto se puso de pie y se acercó a Jesús.

51 Jesús le dijo:

—¿Qué quieres que haga por ti?

El ciego respondió:

—Maestro, haz que pueda yo ver de nuevo.

52 Jesús le dijo:

—Puedes irte; estás sano porque confiaste en Dios.

En ese momento, el ciego pudo ver de nuevo, y siguió a Jesús por el camino.

MARK 10

Teaching about Divorce

(Matthew 19.1-12; Luke 16.18)

1 After Jesus left, he went to Judea and then on to the other side of the Jordan River. Once again large crowds came to him, and as usual, he taught them.
2 Some Pharisees wanted to test Jesus. So they came up to him and asked if it was right for a man to divorce his wife.

3 Jesus asked them, “What does the Law of Moses say about this?”

4  t They answered, “Moses allows a man to write out divorce papers and send his wife away.”
5 Jesus replied, “Moses gave you this law because you are so heartless. 6 t But in the beginning God made a man and a woman. 7 t That's why a man leaves his father and mother and gets married. 8 He becomes like one person with his wife. Then they are no longer two people, but one.

9 And no one should separate a couple that God has joined together.”
10 When Jesus and his disciples were back in the house, they asked him about what he had said. 11 t He told them, “A man who divorces his wife and marries someone else is unfaithful to his wife.

12 A woman who divorces her husbandt and marries again is also unfaithful.”

Jesus Blesses Little Children

(Matthew 19.13-15; Luke 18.15-17)

13 Some people brought their children to Jesus so he could bless them by placing his hands on them. But his disciples told the people to stop bothering him.
14 When Jesus saw this, he became angry and said, “Let the children come to me! Don't try to stop them. People who are like these little children belong to the kingdom of God.t 15 t I promise you that you cannot get into God's kingdom, unless you accept it the way a child does.”

16 Then Jesus took the children in his arms and blessed them by placing his hands on them.

A Rich Man

(Matthew 19.16-30; Luke 18.18-30)

17 As Jesus was walking down a road, a man ran up to him. He knelt down, and asked, “Good teacher, what can I do to have eternal life?”
18 Jesus replied, “Why do you call me good? Only God is good.

19 t You know the commandments. ‘Do not murder. Be faithful in marriage. Do not steal. Do not tell lies about others. Do not cheat. Respect your father and mother.’ ”

20 The man answered, “Teacher, I have obeyed all these commandments since I was a young man.”

21 Jesus looked closely at the man. He liked him and said, “There's one thing you still need to do. Go sell everything you own. Give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven. Then come with me.”

22 When the man heard Jesus say this, he went away gloomy and sad because he was very rich.
23 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “It's hard for rich people to get into God's kingdom!” 24 The disciples were shocked to hear this. So Jesus told them again, “It's terribly hardt to get into God's kingdom!

25 In fact, it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into God's kingdom.”

26 Jesus' disciples were even more amazed. They asked each other, “How can anyone ever be saved?”

27 Jesus looked at them and said, “There are some things that people cannot do, but God can do anything.”

28 Peter replied, “Remember, we left everything to be your followers!”

29 Jesus told him:
You can be sure that anyone who gives up home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or land for me and for the good news 30 will be rewarded. In this world they will be given 100 times as many houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and pieces of land, though they will also be mistreated. And in the world to come, they will have eternal life.

31 t But many who are now first will be last, and many who are now last will be first.

Jesus Again //Tells about His Death

(Matthew 20.17-19; Luke 18.31-34)

32 The disciples were confused as Jesus led them toward Jerusalem, and his other followers were afraid. Once again, Jesus took the twelve disciples aside and told them what was going to happen to him. He said:
33 We are now on our way to Jerusalem where the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the teachers of the Law of Moses. They will sentence him to death and hand him over to foreigners, t

34 who will make fun of him and spit on him. They will beat him and kill him. But three days later he will rise to life.

The Request of James //and John

(Matthew 20.20-28)

35 James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, will you do us a favor?”
36 Jesus asked them what they wanted,

37 and they answered, “When you come into your glory, please let one of us sit at your right side and the other at your left.”t

38  t Jesus told them, “You don't really know what you're asking! Are you able to drink from the cupt that I must soon drink from or be baptized as I must be baptized?”t

39 “Yes, we are!” James and John answered.
Then Jesus replied, “You certainly will drink from the cup from which I must drink. And you will be baptized just as I must!

40 But it isn't for me to say who will sit at my right side and at my left. This is for God to decide.”
41 When the ten other disciples heard this, they were angry with James and John.

42 t But Jesus called the disciples together and said:
You know that those foreigners who call themselves kings like to order their people around. And their great leaders have full power over the people they rule. 43 t But don't act like them. If you want to be great, you must be the servant of all the others. 44 And if you want to be first, you must be everyone's slave.

45 t The Son of Man did not come to be a slave master, but a slave who will give his life to rescuet many people.

Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus

(Matthew 20.29-34; Luke 18.35-43)

48 Many people told the man to stop, but he shouted even louder, “Son of David, have pity on me!”

49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him over!”
They called out to the blind man and said, “Don't be afraid! Come on! He is calling for you.”

50 The man threw off his coat as he jumped up and ran to Jesus.

51 Jesus asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”
The blind man answered, “Master, t I want to see!”

52 Jesus told him, “You may go. Your eyes are healed because of your faith.”
At once the man could see, and he went down the road with Jesus.
