Markus 12

Paktarane og arvingen

(Matt 21,33–46; Luk 20,9–19)

1 Så tok han til å tala til dei i likningar: «Det var ein gong ein mann som planta ein vingard. Han sette gjerde kringom, grov ut ei vinpresse og bygde eit vakttårn. Så leigde han hagen bort til nokre vindyrkarar og drog ut or landet.t
2 Då tida kom, sende han ein tenar til paktarane og ville få sin del av avlinga. 3 Men dei greip tenaren og slo han og sende han tomhendt bort. 4 Sidan sende eigaren ein annan tenar til dei; han slo dei i hovudet og spotta han. 5 Då sende han endå ein, og han slo dei i hel. Såleis gjekk det med mange: Somme skamslo dei, og somme drap dei. 6 No hadde han ein einaste att, son sin, som han heldt så av. Til sist sende han sonen til dei; for han tenkte: Son min har dei nok age for. t 7 Men vindyrkarane sa til kvarandre: Der har vi arvingen. Kom, lat oss slå han i hel, så vert arven vår.

8 Så tok dei han og slo han i hel og kasta han ut or vingarden.
9 Kva skal no vingardsherren gjera? Han skal koma og gjera ende på desse paktarane og la andre få vingarden.

10 Har de ikkje lese dette ordet i Skrifta:t
Den steinen bygningsmennene ¬vraka,
har vorte hjørnestein.

11 Det er Herrens eige verk,
underfullt er det i våre augo.»

12 Då ville dei gjerne ha gripe han, for dei skjøna at det var dei han sikta til med likninga si. Men dei torde ikkje for folket. Difor lét dei han vera og gjekk sin veg.

Er det rett å svara skatt til keisaren?

(Matt 22,15–22; Luk 20,20–26)

13 Sidan sende dei nokre av farisearane og herodianarane som skulle fanga han i ord. t 14 Dei kom og sa til han: «Meister, vi veit at du er ærleg og ikkje bryr deg om kva andre meiner. For du gjer ikkje skil på folk, men lærer i sanning Guds veg: Er det rett å svara skatt til keisaren, eller er det ikkje? Skal vi gjera det, eller skal vi la vera?» 15 Men Jesus merka hyklarskapen deira og sa til dei: «Kvifor set de meg på prøve? Kom med ein denar, og lat meg få sjå han!» 16 Dei gav han ein, og han spurde: «Kven sitt bilete og namn er dette?» «Keisarens,» svara dei.

17 Då sa Jesus til dei: «Så gjev då keisaren det som keisarens er, og Gud det som Guds er!» Og dei undra seg svært over han.t

Oppstoda frå dei døde

(Matt 22,23–33; Luk 20,27–38)

18 Så kom det nokre saddukearar til Jesus; det er dei som seier at dei døde ikkje skal stå opp. Og dei la fram for han dette spørsmålet: t 19 «Meister, Moses har gjeve oss denne føresegna: Om ein mann døyr og lèt etter seg kone, men ikkje born, skal bror hans gifta seg med enkja og halda oppe ætta åt bror sin. t 20 No var det sju brør; den eldste tok seg ei kone, men døydde utan å etterlata seg born. 21 Så gifte den andre seg med henne; han òg døydde barnlaus, og den tredje like eins. 22 Ingen av dei sju lét etter seg born. Sist av dei alle døydde kvinna.

23 Men i oppstoda, når dei står opp att, kven av dei skal då ha henne til kone? Alle sju har då vore gifte med henne.»
24 Jesus sa til dei: «De fer vilt! Og gjer de ikkje det fordi de korkje kjenner skriftene eller Guds makt? 25 For når dei døde står opp, gifter dei seg ikkje og vert ikkje bortgifte; dei er som englane i himmelen. 26 Men at dei døde står opp, det har de vel lese om i Moseboka? I forteljinga om klungeren seier Gud til Moses: Eg er Abrahams Gud og Isaks Gud og Jakobs Gud. t

27 Han er ikkje ein Gud for døde, men for levande. De tek heilt i miss.»

Dei to store boda

(Matt 22,34–40; Luk 10,25–28)

28 Ein skriftlærd som hadde høyrt på dette ordskiftet, skjøna at Jesus hadde svara dei godt. No kom han og spurde: «Kva for eit bod er det fyrste av alle?» 29 Jesus svara: «Dette er det fyrste bodet: Høyr, Israel! Herren vår Gud, Herren er éin; t 30 og du skal elska Herren din Gud av heile ditt hjarta og av heile di sjel og av alt ditt vit og av all di makt. 31 Det andre er dette: Du skal elska nesten din som deg sjølv. Noko større bod enn desse finst ikkje.» t 32 Den skriftlærde sa til han: «Vel tala du, meister! Det er sant som du seier: Herren er éin, og det finst ingen annan enn han. t 33 Å elska han av heile sitt hjarta og av alt sitt vit og av all si makt og å elska nesten sin som seg sjølv, det er meir verdt enn alle brennoffer og andre offer.» t

34 Då Jesus høyrde kor klokt han svara, sa han til han: «Du er ikkje langt borte frå Guds rike.» Og ingen våga å spørja han meir.

Kven Messias er

(Matt 22,41–46; Luk 20,41–44)

35 Ein gong medan Jesus lærte på tempelplassen, sa han: «Korleis kan dei skriftlærde seia at Messias er Davids son?

36 For sjølv seier David, driven av Den Heilage Ande:t
Herren sa til min herre:
Set deg ved mi høgre hand
til eg får lagt dine fiendar
under dine føter.

37 Når David kallar Messias herre, korleis kan han då vera Davids son?»

Jesus åtvarar mot dei skriftlærde

(Luk 20,45–47)

Den store folkehopen høyrde gjerne på Jesus. 38 Og medan han lærte dei, sa han: «Ta dykk i vare for dei skriftlærde! Dei vil gjerne gå ikring i side kapper og likar at folk helsar dei på torget. t 39 Dei vil sitja fremst i synagogene og ha heidersplassane i gjestebod.

40 Dei slår under seg husa åt enkjer og held lange bøner for syn skuld. Dei skal få så mykje hardare dom.»

Største gåva

(Luk 21,1–4)

41 Ein gong sette Jesus seg midt imot tempelkista og såg korleis folk la pengar i henne. Og mange rike gav mykje. t 42 Så kom det ei fattig enkje og la to småmyntar; det er ein øre. 43 Då kalla han læresveinane til seg og sa: «Sanneleg, det seier eg dykk: Denne fattige enkja har gjeve meir enn nokon av dei andre som la pengar i tempelkista. t 44 For dei gav alle av si overflod, men ho gav av si fattige råd, alt det ho åtte, alt det ho skulle leva av.»

MARK 12

Renters of a Vineyard

(Matthew 21.33-46; Luke 20.9-19)

1  t Jesus then told them this story:
A farmer once planted a vineyard. He built a wall around it and dug a pit to crush the grapes in. He also built a lookout tower. Then he rented out his vineyard and left the country.
2 When it was harvest time, he sent a servant to get his share of the grapes.

3 The renters grabbed the servant, beat him up, and sent him away without a thing.
4 The owner sent another servant, but the renters beat him on the head and insulted him terribly.

5 Then the man sent another servant, and they killed him. He kept sending servant after servant. They beat some of them and killed some.
6 The owner had a son he loved very much. Finally, he sent his son to the renters because he thought they would respect him. 7 But they said to themselves, “Someday he will own this vineyard. Let's kill him! That way we can have it all for ourselves.”

8 So they grabbed the owner's son, killed him, and threw his body out of the vineyard.
9 Jesus asked, “What do you think the owner of the vineyard will do? He will come and kill those renters and let someone else have his vineyard.

10 t You surely know that the Scriptures say,
‘The stone the builders
tossed aside
is now the most important
stone of all.

11 This is something
the Lord has done,
and it is amazing to us.’ ”

12 The leaders knew that Jesus was really talking about them, and they wanted to arrest him. But because they were afraid of the crowd, they let him alone and left.

Paying Taxes

(Matthew 22.15-22; Luke 20.20-26)

13 The Pharisees got together with Herod's followers.t Then they sent some men to trick Jesus into saying something wrong.

14 They went to him and said, “Teacher, we know that you are honest. You treat everyone with the same respect, no matter who they are. And you teach the truth about what God wants people to do. Tell us, should we pay taxes to the Emperor or not?”

15 Jesus knew what they were up to, and he said, “Why are you trying to test me? Show me a coin!”

16 They brought him a silver coin, and he asked, “Whose picture and name are on it?”
“The Emperor's,” they answered.

17 Then Jesus told them, “Give the Emperor what belongs to him and give God what belongs to God.” The men were amazed at Jesus.

Life in the Future World

(Matthew 22.23-33; Luke 20.27-40)

18  t The Sadducees did not believe that people would rise to life after death. So some of them came to Jesus and said:
19  t Teacher, Moses wrote that if a married man dies and has no children, his brother should marry the widow. Their first son would then be thought of as the son of the dead brother. 20 There were once seven brothers. The first one married, but died without having any children. 21 The second brother married his brother's widow, and he also died without having children. The same thing happened to the third brother, 22 and finally to all seven brothers. At last the woman died.

23 When God raises people from death, whose wife will this woman be? After all, she had been married to all seven brothers.

24 Jesus answered:
You are completely wrong! You don't know what the Scriptures teach. And you don't know anything about the power of God. 25 When God raises people to life, they won't marry. They will be like the angels in heaven. 26 t You surely know about people being raised to life. You know that in the story about Moses and the burning bush, God said, “I am the God worshiped by Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”t

27 He isn't the God of the dead, but of the living. You Sadducees are all wrong.

The Most Important //Commandment

(Matthew 22.34-40; Luke 10.25-28)

28  t One of the teachers of the Law of Moses came up while Jesus and the Sadducees were arguing. When he heard Jesus give a good answer, he asked him, “What is the most important commandment?”
29  t Jesus answered, “The most important one says: ‘People of Israel, you have only one Lord and God. 30 You must love him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.’

31 t The second most important commandment says: ‘Love others as much as you love yourself.’ No other commandment is more important than these.”
32  t The man replied, “Teacher, you are certainly right to say there is only one God.

33 t It is also true that we must love God with all our heart, mind, and strength, and that we must love others as much as we love ourselves. These commandments are more important than all the sacrifices and offerings that we could possibly make.”

34 When Jesus saw that the man had given a sensible answer, he told him, “You are not far from God's kingdom.” After this, no one dared ask Jesus any more questions.

About David's Son

(Matthew 22.41-46; Luke 20.41-44)

35 As Jesus was teaching in the temple, he said, “How can the teachers of the Law of Moses say the Messiah will come from the family of King David?

36 t The Holy Spirit led David to say,
‘The Lord said to my Lord:
Sit at my right sidet
until I make your enemies
into a footstool for you.’

37 If David called the Messiah his Lord, how can the Messiah be his son?”t
The large crowd enjoyed listening to Jesus teach.

Jesus Condemns the Pharisees //and the Teachers of the Law of Moses

(Matthew 23.1-36; Luke 20.45-47)

38 As Jesus was teaching, he said:
Guard against the teachers of the Law of Moses! They love to walk around in long robes and be greeted in the market. 39 They like the front seats in the synagogues and the best seats at banquets.

40 But they cheat widows out of their homes and pray long prayers just to show off. They will be punished most of all.

A Widow's Offering

(Luke 21.1-4)

41 Jesus was sitting in the temple near the offering box and watching people put in their gifts. He noticed that many rich people were giving a lot of money. 42 Finally, a poor widow came up and put in two coins worth only a few pennies.

43 Jesus told his disciples to gather around him. Then he said:
I tell you that this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 44 Everyone else gave what they didn't need. But she is very poor and gave everything she had. Now she doesn't have a cent to live on.
