Liknelsen om de onda vingårdsarbetarna

1 Sedan började Jesus tala till dem i liknelser: "En man planterade en vingård. Han satte stängsel kring den, högg ut en vinpresst och byggde ett vakttorn. Därefter arrenderade han ut den till vingårdsarbetare och reste bort.2 När tiden var inne, skickade han en tjänare till vingårdsarbetarna för att få sin del av vingårdens avkastning.3 Men de tog fast honom, slog honom och skickade i väg honom tomhänt.4 Då skickade han en annan tjänare till dem. Honom slog de i huvudet och hånade.5 Sedan skickade han ännu en och honom dödade de. Han skickade också många andra. En del slog de, andra dödade de.6 Ännu en hade han, en älskad son. Honom sände han till slut till dem. Han tänkte: De kommer att ha respekt för min son.7 Men vingårdsarbetarna sade till varandra: Här har vi arvtagaren! Kom, låt oss döda honom, så blir arvet vårt.8 Och de tog fast honom, dödade honom och kastade ut honom ur vingården.9 Vad skall nu vingårdens herre göra? Han skall komma och döda vingårdsarbetarna och lämna vingården till andra.10 Har ni inte läst det här stället i Skriften: "Den sten som byggnadsarbetarna kastade bort har blivit en hörnsten." t11 "Herren har gjort detta, och underbar är den i våra ögon.""12 De hade nu velat gripa honom men vågade inte för folket. De förstod att det var med tanke på dem som han hade berättat liknelsen. Och de lämnade honom och gick sin väg.

Skatt till kejsaren

13 Sedan sände de till honom några fariseer och herodianer för att snärja honom genom något ord.14 De kom till honom och sade: "Mästare, vi vet att du är trovärdig och inte tar parti för någon utan behandlar alla lika. Du ger en rätt undervisning om Guds väg.t Är det tillåtet att betala skatt till kejsaren eller är det inte tillåtet? Skall vi betala eller inte?"15 Men Jesus förstod att de hycklade och sade till dem: "Varför försöker ni snärja mig? Ge mig ett myntt och låt mig se på det."16 De räckte fram ett, och han frågade dem: "Vems bild och inskrift är detta?" De svarade: "Kejsarens."17 Då sade Jesus till dem: "Ge då kejsaren vad som tillhör kejsaren, och Gud vad som tillhör Gud." Och de förundrade sig över honom.

De dödas uppståndelse

18 Till Jesus kom också sadduceer - dessa påstår att det inte finns någon uppståndelse - och de frågade honom:19 "Mästare, Mose har gett oss denna föreskrift: "Om någon har en bror som dör och efterlämnar hustru men inga barn, då skall hans bror gifta sig med henne och skaffa barn åt sin bror." t20 Nu fanns där sju bröder. Den förste gifte sig. Han dog utan att ha lämnat efter sig några barn.21 Den andre gifte sig med henne, men också han dog barnlös. På samma sätt gick det med den tredje.22 Ingen av de sju lämnade barn efter sig. Sist av alla dog kvinnan.23 Vid uppståndelsen, när de uppstår, vem av dessa skall hon då vara hustru till? Alla sju var ju gifta med henne."24 Jesus sade till dem: "Tar ni inte fel, just därför att ni inte förstår Skrifterna och inte heller Guds makt?25 När de döda uppstår gifter de sig inte och blir inte bortgifta, utan de är som änglarna i himlen.26 Men när det gäller de dödas uppståndelse, har ni då inte i Moses bok läst stället om törnbusken, hur Gud sade till Mose: "Jag är Abrahams Gud och Isaks Gud och Jakobs Gud?" t27 Han är inte de dödas utan de levandes Gud. Ni misstar er fullständigt."

Det viktigaste budet

28 En av de skriftlärda som hörde dem diskutera fann att Jesus hade gett dem ett bra svar. Han kom fram till honom och frågade: "Vilket är det största av alla buden?"29 Jesus svarade: "Det största är detta: "Hör Israel! Herren, vår Gud, Herren är en",t30 "och du skall älska Herren din Gud av hela ditt hjärta, av hela din själ, av hela ditt förstånd och av hela din kraft."31 Sedan kommer detta: "Du skall älska din nästa som dig själv." t Inget annat bud är större än dessa."32 Den skriftlärde sade: "Du har rätt, Mästare, det är sant som du säger. Han är en, och det finns ingen annan än han.33 Och att älska honom av hela sitt hjärta och av hela sitt förstånd och av hela sin kraft och att älska sin nästa som sig själv, det är mer än alla brännoffer och andra offer."34 När Jesus hörde att mannen hade svarat förståndigt, sade han till honom: "Du är inte långt från Guds rike." Sedan vågade ingen fråga honom längre.

Är Messias Davids son?

35 Då Jesus undervisade i templet frågade han: "Hur kan de skriftlärda säga att Messias är Davids son?36 David har själv sagt genom den helige Ande: "Herren sade till min Herre: Sätt dig på min högra sida, tills jag har lagt dina fiender under dina fötter." t37 David kallar honom Herre. Hur kan Messias då vara Davids son?"t Den stora folkskaran lyssnade gärna på honom.

Jesus varnar för de skriftlärda

38 När Jesus undervisade sade han också: "Akta er för de skriftlärda, som tycker om att gå omkring i långa mantlar och bli hälsade på torgen39 och sitta på de främsta platserna i synagogorna och få hedersplatserna vid festmåltiderna.40 De äter änkorna ur husen och ursäktar sig med sina långa böner. De skall få en så mycket strängare dom."

Änkans offergåva

41 Jesus satte sig mitt emot offerkistan och såg hur folket lade pengar i den. Många rika gav mycket.42 Där kom också en fattig änka och lade ner två små kopparmynt, några ören.43 Då kallade han till sig sina lärjungar och sade till dem: "Amen säger jag er: Denna fattiga änka lade dit mer än alla de andra som lade något i offerkistan.44 Ty alla gav de av sitt överflöd, men hon gav av sin fattigdom, allt vad hon hade att leva på."

1 And he began to speak unto them in parables. A man planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and digged a pit for the winepress, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country.2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruits of the vineyard.3 And they took him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and him they wounded in the head, and handled shamefully.5 And he sent another; and him they killed: and many others; beating some, and killing some.6 He had yet one, a beloved son: he sent him last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard.9 What therefore will the lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.10 Have ye not read even this scripture: The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner;

11 This was from the Lord, And it is marvellous in our eyes?

12 And they sought to lay hold on him; and they feared the multitude; for they perceived that he spake the parable against them: and they left him, and went away.13 And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians, that they might catch him in talk.14 And when they were come, they say unto him, Teacher, we know that thou art true, and carest not for any one; for thou regardest not the person of men, but of a truth teachest the way of God: Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?15 Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why make ye trial of me? bring me a denarius, that I may see it.16 And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar’s.17 And Jesus said unto them, Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s. And they marvelled greatly at him.18 And there come unto him Sadducees, who say that there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,19 Teacher, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother die, and leave a wife behind him, and leave no child, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.20 There were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed;21 and the second took her, and died, leaving no seed behind him; and the third likewise:22 and the seven left no seed. Last of all the woman also died.23 In the resurrection whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.24 Jesus said unto them, Is it not for this cause that ye err, that ye know not the scriptures, nor the power of God?25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as angels in heaven.26 But as touching the dead, that they are raised; have ye not read in the book of Moses, in the place concerning the Bush, how God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?27 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living: ye do greatly err.28 And one of the scribes came, and heard them questioning together, and knowing that he had answered them well, asked him, What commandment is the first of all?29 Jesus answered, The first is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God, the Lord is one:30 and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength.31 The second is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.32 And the scribe said unto him, Of a truth, Teacher, thou hast well said that he is one; and there is none other but he:33 and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is much more than all whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices.34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question.35 And Jesus answered and said, as he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that the Christ is the son of David?36 David himself said in the Holy Spirit, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet.

37 David himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he his son? And the common people heard him gladly.38 And in his teaching he said, Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes, and to have salutations in the marketplaces,39 and chief seats in the synagogues, and chief places at feasts:40 they that devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayers; these shall receive greater condemnation.41 And he sat down over against the treasury, and beheld how the multitude cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.42 And there came a poor widow, and she cast in two mites, which make a farthing.43 And he called unto him his disciples, and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, This poor widow cast in more than all they that are casting into the treasury:44 for they all did cast in of their superfluity; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
