Isus vindecă un paralitic

1 Câteva zile mai târziu, Isus a venit din nou în Capernaum. Când s-a auzit că El este în casă,2 s-au adunat atât de mulți oameni, încât nu mai rămăsese loc nici măcar în fața ușii. Isus le vorbea din Cuvânt.3 Atunci au venit niște oameni care au adus la El un paralitic, purtat de patru dintre ei.4 Fiindcă n-au putut să-l aducă la Isus din cauza mulțimii, ei au dat la o parte acoperișul casei t unde era Isus, au făcut o spărtură și au coborât pe acolo targa pe care era așezat paraliticul.5 Când a văzut Isus credința lor, i-a zis paraliticului: „Fiule, păcatele îți sunt iertate!“

6 Câțiva cărturari, care ședeau acolo, își ziceau în inimile lor:7 „Cum vorbește Omul Acesta astfel? Blasfemiază! Cine poate ierta păcatele decât numai Dumnezeu?!“

8 Isus însă, cunoscând imediat, în duhul Său, că ei gândeau astfel în ei înșiși, le-a zis: „De ce gândiți astfel în inimile voastre?9 Ce este mai ușor, a spune paraliticului: «Păcatele îți sunt iertate!», sau a spune: «Ridică-te, ia-ți targa și umblă!»?10 Dar ca să știți că Fiul Omuluit are pe pământ autoritatea de a ierta păcatele...“, și atunci i-a zis paraliticului:11 „Ție îți spun: ridică-te, ia-ți targa și du-te acasă!“

12 El s-a ridicat, și-a luat imediat targa și a ieșit afară în fața tuturor, așa că toți erau uimiți și Îl slăveau pe Dumnezeu, zicând: „N-am mai văzut niciodată așa ceva!“

Chemarea lui Levi

13 Isus a ieșit din nou lângă mare. Toată mulțimea a venit la El, iar El îi învăța.14 Plecând mai departe, El l-a văzut pe Levit, fiul lui Alfeu, șezând la masa unde se colectau taxelet și i-a zis: „Urmează-Mă!“ El s-a ridicat și L-a urmat.

15 În timp ce Isus ședea la masă în casa lui Levi, mulți colectori de taxet și păcătoșit ședeau acolo la masă cu El și cu ucenicii Lui; căci erau mulți care Îl urmau.16 Când cărturarii care erau fariseit au văzut că El mănâncă împreună cu păcătoșii și cu colectorii de taxe, i-au întrebat pe ucenicii Lui: „De ce mănâncăt cu colectorii de taxe și cu păcătoșii?“

17 Însă Isus i-a auzit și le-a zis: „Nu cei sănătoși au nevoie de doctor, ci cei bolnavi! Eu n-am venit să-i chem pe cei drepți, ci pe cei păcătoși!“

18 Ucenicii lui Ioan și ai fariseilor obișnuiau să posteascăt. Ei au venit la Isus și L-au întrebat:
– De ce ucenicii lui Ioan și ucenicii fariseilor postesc, iar ucenicii Tăi nu postesc?

19 Isus le-a răspuns:
– Pot posti nuntașii în timp ce mirele este cu ei? Atâta vreme cât îl au pe mire cu ei, nu pot posti.20 Vor veni însă zile când mirele va fi luat de la ei și atunci vor posti.

21 Nimeni nu coase o bucată de pânză nouă la o haină veche, pentru că altfel peticul cel nou se va desprinde din haina cea veche și ruptura se va face mai mare.22 Și nimeni nu pune vin nou în burdufuri vechi. Dacă face așa, vinul va crăpa burdufurile, iar vinul și burdufurile vor fi distruse. Ci vinul nou se pune în burdufuri noi.

Isus, Domnul Sabatului

23 Într-o zi de Sabat, Isus trecea printre lanurile de grâu. În timp ce mergeau, ucenicii Lui au început să smulgă spice de grâu.

24 Fariseii I-au zis lui Isus:
– Uite, de ce fac ei ce nu este voie în ziua de Sabat?

25 El le-a răspuns:
– N-ați citit niciodată ce a făcut Davidt atunci când a fost în nevoie și i s-a făcut foame, atât lui, cât și celor ce erau cu el?26 Cum a intrat în Casa lui Dumnezeu, pe vremea luit Abiatar, marele preot, și a mâncat pâinile prezentării, pe care nu este voie să le mănânce decât preoții, și cum a dat și celor ce erau cu el?

27 Apoi le-a zis:
– Sabatul a fost făcut pentru om, nu omul pentru Sabat!28 Așa că Fiul Omului este Domn chiar și al Sabatului.

Jesus Heals a Man //Who Could Not Walk

(Matthew 9.1-8; Luke 5.17-26)

1 Jesus went back to Capernaum, and a few days later people heard that he was at home.t

2 Then so many of them came to the house that there wasn't even standing room left in front of the door.
Jesus was still teaching 3 when four people came up, carrying a man on a mat because he could not walk.

4 But because of the crowd, they could not get him to Jesus. So they made a hole in the rooft above him and let the man down in front of everyone.

5 When Jesus saw how much faith they had, he said to the man, “My friend, your sins are forgiven.”
6 Some of the teachers of the Law of Moses were sitting there. They started wondering,

7 “Why would he say such a thing? He must think he is God! Only God can forgive sins.”
8 At once, Jesus knew what they were thinking, and he said, “Why are you thinking such things? 9 Is it easier for me to tell this man his sins are forgiven or to tell him to get up and pick up his mat and go on home? 10 I will show you that the Son of Man has the right to forgive sins here on earth.” So Jesus said to the man,

11 “Get up! Pick up your mat and go on home.”

12 The man got right up. He picked up his mat and went out while everyone watched in amazement. They praised God and said, “We have never seen anything like this!”

Jesus Chooses Levi

(Matthew 9.9-13; Luke 5.27-32)

14 As he walked along, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus. Levi was sitting at the place for paying taxes, and Jesus said to him, “Follow me!” So he got up and went with Jesus.

15 Later, Jesus and his disciples were having dinner at Levi's house.t Many tax collectorst and other sinners had become followers of Jesus, and they were also guests at the dinner.

16 Some of the teachers of the Law of Moses were Pharisees, and they saw Jesus eating with sinners and tax collectors. So they asked his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

17 Jesus heard them and answered, “Healthy people don't need a doctor, but sick people do. I didn't come to invite good people to be my followers. I came to invite sinners.”
