1 و بعد از چندی، باز وارد کفرناحوم شده، چون شهرت یافت که در خانه است،2 بی درنگ جمعی ازدحام نمودند بقسمی که بیرون در نیز گنجایش نداشت و برای ایشان کلام را بیان میکرد.3 که ناگاه بعضی نزد وی آمده مفلوجی را بهدست چهار نفر برداشته، آوردند.4 و چون بهسبب جمعیت نتوانستند نزد او برسند، طاق جایی را که او بود باز کرده و شکافته، تختی را که مفلوج بر آن خوابیده بود، به زیر هشتند.5 عیسی چون ایمان ایشان را دید، مفلوج را گفت: «ای فرزند، گناهان تو آمرزیده شد.»6 لیکن بعضی از کاتبان که در آنجا نشسته بودند، در دل خود تفکر نمودند7 که «چرا این شخص چنین کفر میگوید؟ غیر از خدای واحد، کیست که بتواند گناهان را بیامرزد؟»8 در ساعت عیسی در روح خود ادراک نموده که با خود چنین فکر میکنند، بدیشان گفت: «از بهرچه این خیالات را بهخاطر خود راه میدهید؟9 کدام سهل تر است؟ مفلوج را گفتن گناهان تو آمرزیده شد؟ یا گفتن برخیز و بستر خود را برداشته بخرام؟10 لیکن تا بدانید که پسر انسان رااستطاعت آمرزیدن گناهان بر روی زمین هست...» مفلوج را گفت:11 «تو را میگویم برخیز و بستر خود را برداشته، به خانه خود برو!»12 او برخاست و بیتامل بستر خود را برداشته، پیش روی همه روانه شد بطوری که همه حیران شده، خدا را تمجید نموده، گفتند: «مثل این امرهرگز ندیده بودیم!»13 و باز به کناره دریا رفت و تمام آن گروه نزداو آمدند و ایشان را تعلیم میداد.14 و هنگامی که میرفت لاوی ابن حلفی را بر باجگاه نشسته دید. بدو گفت: «از عقب من بیا!» پس برخاسته، درعقب وی شتافت.15 و وقتی که او در خانه وی نشسته بود، بسیاری از باجگیران و گناهکاران باعیسی و شاگردانش نشستند زیرا بسیار بودند وپیروی او میکردند.16 و چون کاتبان و فریسیان او را دیدند که با باجگیران و گناهکاران میخورد، به شاگردان او گفتند: «چرا با باجگیران وگناهکاران اکل و شرب مینماید؟»17 عیسی چون این را شنید، بدیشان گفت: «تندرستان احتیاج به طبیب ندارند بلکه مریضان. و من نیامدم تا عادلان را بلکه تا گناهکاران را به توبه دعوت کنم.»18 و شاگردان یحیی و فریسیان روزه میداشتند. پس آمده، بدو گفتند: «چون است که شاگردان یحیی و فریسیان روزه میدارند وشاگردان تو روزه نمی دارند؟»19 عیسی بدیشان گفت: «آیا ممکن است پسران خانه عروسی مادامی که داماد با ایشان است روزه بدارند؟ زمانی که داماد را با خود دارند، نمی توانند روزهدارند.20 لیکن ایامی میآید که داماد از ایشان گرفته شود. در آن ایام روزه خواهند داشت.21 وهیچکس بر جامه کهنه، پارهای از پارچه نو وصله نمی کند، والا آن وصله نو از آن کهنه جدامی گردد و دریدگی بدتر میشود.22 و کسی شراب نو را در مشکهای کهنه نمی ریزد وگرنه آن شراب نو مشکها را بدرد و شراب ریخته، مشکهاتلف میگردد. بلکه شراب نو را در مشکهای نوباید ریخت.»23 و چنان افتاد که روز سبتی از میان مزرعهها میگذشت و شاگردانش هنگامی که میرفتند، به چیدن خوشهها شروع کردند.24 فریسیان بدو گفتند: «اینک چرا در روزسبت مرتکب عملی میباشند که روا نیست؟»25 او بدیشان گفت: «مگر هرگز نخوانده ایدکه داود چه کرد چون او و رفقایش محتاج وگرسنه بودند؟26 چگونه در ایام ابیتار رئیس کهنه به خانه خدا درآمده، نان تقدمه راخورد که خوردن آن جز به کاهنان روا نیست و به رفقای خود نیز داد؟»27 و بدیشان گفت: «سبت بجهت انسان مقرر شد نه انسان برای سبت.28 بنابراین پسر انسان مالک سبت نیزهست.»

Jesus Heals a Man //Who Could Not Walk

(Matthew 9.1-8; Luke 5.17-26)

1 Jesus went back to Capernaum, and a few days later people heard that he was at home.t

2 Then so many of them came to the house that there wasn't even standing room left in front of the door.
Jesus was still teaching 3 when four people came up, carrying a man on a mat because he could not walk.

4 But because of the crowd, they could not get him to Jesus. So they made a hole in the rooft above him and let the man down in front of everyone.

5 When Jesus saw how much faith they had, he said to the man, “My friend, your sins are forgiven.”
6 Some of the teachers of the Law of Moses were sitting there. They started wondering,

7 “Why would he say such a thing? He must think he is God! Only God can forgive sins.”
8 At once, Jesus knew what they were thinking, and he said, “Why are you thinking such things? 9 Is it easier for me to tell this man his sins are forgiven or to tell him to get up and pick up his mat and go on home? 10 I will show you that the Son of Man has the right to forgive sins here on earth.” So Jesus said to the man,

11 “Get up! Pick up your mat and go on home.”

12 The man got right up. He picked up his mat and went out while everyone watched in amazement. They praised God and said, “We have never seen anything like this!”

Jesus Chooses Levi

(Matthew 9.9-13; Luke 5.27-32)

14 As he walked along, he saw Levi, the son of Alphaeus. Levi was sitting at the place for paying taxes, and Jesus said to him, “Follow me!” So he got up and went with Jesus.

15 Later, Jesus and his disciples were having dinner at Levi's house.t Many tax collectorst and other sinners had become followers of Jesus, and they were also guests at the dinner.

16 Some of the teachers of the Law of Moses were Pharisees, and they saw Jesus eating with sinners and tax collectors. So they asked his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

17 Jesus heard them and answered, “Healthy people don't need a doctor, but sick people do. I didn't come to invite good people to be my followers. I came to invite sinners.”
