Jesús sana a un paralítico

1 Unos días después Jesús regresó a Capernaúmt. Se escuchó el rumor de que él estaba en casa.2 Se reunió tanta gente que no quedaba espacio ni en la puerta. Cuando Jesús les estaba enseñando,3 vinieron y le trajeron a un paralítico cargado por cuatro hombres.4 Pero como había tanta gente, no podían acercarlo a Jesús. Así que quitaron parte del techo e hicieron un hueco por donde bajaron la camilla con el enfermo.

5 Cuando Jesús vio la fe que tenían, le dijo al paralítico:
—Hijo, tus pecados quedan perdonados.
6 Entre la multitud estaban sentados unos maestros de la ley que pensaban:7 «¿Por qué se atreve este hombre a hablar así? Es una ofensa a Dios. El único que puede perdonar pecados es Dios».

8 Jesús supo inmediatamente lo que estaban pensando y les dijo:
—¿Por qué están pensando así?9 Tal vez piensen que es más fácil que yo le diga a este paralítico: "Tus pecados quedan perdonados", porque eso no se puede comprobar. Pero si le digo: "¡Levántate, recoge tu camilla y anda!"

10 y así sucede, entonces quedará comprobado que el Hijo del hombret tiene en la tierra el poder de perdonar pecados.
Así que Jesús le dijo al paralítico:

11 —A ti te digo: ¡Levántate, recoge tu camilla y vete a tu casa!

12 Entonces, el hombre se levantó, y enseguida recogió su camilla y salió caminando frente a todos. Todos estaban asombrados y alababan a Dios diciendo:
—Nunca hemos visto algo así.

Leví sigue a Jesús

13 Jesús salió otra vez hacia la orilla del lago. Toda la multitud lo siguió, y él les enseñaba.

14 Jesús iba caminando y vio a Leví hijo de Alfeo sentado en el lugar donde se pagaban los impuestos. Jesús le dijo:
—Sígueme.
Entonces Leví se levantó y lo siguió.
15 Después Jesús fue a cenar a casa de Leví. Muchos cobradores de impuestost y pecadores cenaron con Jesús y sus seguidores, porque muchos de ellos también lo siguieron.

16 Cuando los maestros de la ley, que eran fariseost, vieron que Jesús estaba comiendo con cobradores de impuestos y pecadores, les preguntaron a los seguidores de Jesús:
—¿Por qué come él con cobradores de impuestos y pecadores?

17 Jesús los oyó, y les dijo:
—Los sanos no necesitan médico, los enfermos sí. Yo no he venido a invitar a los buenos a que me sigan, sino a los pecadores.

Una pregunta sobre el ayuno

18 Al ver que los seguidores de Juan y los fariseost estaban ayunando, algunos se acercaron a Jesús y le preguntaron:
—Los seguidores de Juan el Bautista y los de los fariseos ayunan, pero tus seguidores no. ¿Por qué?

19 Jesús les contestó:
—Cuando hay una boda, ¿cómo pueden ayunar los amigos del novio mientras él está con ellos? No pueden ayunar mientras él esté presente.20 Pero llegará el día en que se llevarán al novio y entonces en ese tiempo ayunarán.21 Nadie arregla un vestido viejo con un retazo de tela nueva, porque la tela nueva se encoge y rasga el vestido viejo, y entonces se romperá más.

22 Ni tampoco echa vino nuevo en cuerost viejos, porque el vino revienta los cueros. Así se dañan tanto el vino como los cueros. Más bien se echa el vino nuevo en cueros nuevos.

Jesús es Señor del día de descanso

23 Un día de descansot Jesús iba por unos sembrados, y mientras caminaban sus seguidores empezaron a arrancar espigas.

24 Entonces los fariseost empezaron a decirle:
—Oye, ¿por qué hacen ellos lo que está prohibido en el día de descanso?

25 Y Jesús les dijo:
—¿No han leído ustedes lo que hizo Davidt cuando él y sus compañeros tuvieron necesidad y hambre?

26 Cuando Abiatar era el sumo sacerdotet, David entró a la casa de Dios y comió los panes que se ofrecen a Dios y se los dio a sus compañeros. Y ustedes bien saben que no se permite a nadie comer de esos panes, sino sólo a los sacerdotes.

27 Entonces Jesús les dijo a los fariseos:
—El día de descanso se hizo para beneficio de la gente, no la gente para beneficio del día de descanso.

28 Por tanto, el Hijo del hombret es Señor de todos los días, incluso del día de descanso.

Mark 2

The Paralytic Healed

1 When He had come back to Capernaum several days afterward, it was heard that He was at home.2 And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room, not even near the door; and He was speaking the word to them.3 And they *came, bringing to Him a paralytic, carried by four men.4 Being unable to get to Him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above Him; and when they had dug an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic was lying.5 And Jesus seeing their faith *said to the paralytic, "tSon, your sins are forgiven."6 But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts,7 "Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming; who can forgive sins but God alone?"8 Immediately Jesus, aware in His spirit that they were reasoning that way within themselves, *said to them, "Why are you reasoning about these things in your hearts?9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven'; or to say, 'Get up, and pick up your pallet and walk'?10 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"-He *said to the paralytic,11 "I say to you, get up, pick up your pallet and go home."12 And he got up and immediately picked up the pallet and went out in the sight of everyone, so that they were all amazed and were glorifying God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this."

13 And He went out again by the seashore; and all the people were coming to Him, and He was teaching them.

Levi (Matthew) Called

14 As He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting in the tax booth, and He *said to him, "Follow Me!" And he got up and followed Him.

15 And it *happened that He was reclining at the table in his house, and many tax collectors and sinners were dining with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many of them, and they were following Him.16 When the scribes of the Pharisees saw that He was eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they said to His disciples, "Why is He eating and drinking with tax collectors and sinners?"17 And hearing this, Jesus *said to them, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

18 John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting; and they *came and *said to Him, "Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?"19 And Jesus said to them, "While the bridegroom is with them, the attendants of the bridegroom cannot fast, can they? So long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.20 But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast in that day.

21 "No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; otherwise the patch pulls away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear results.22 No one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the skins as well; but one puts new wine into fresh wineskins."

Question of the Sabbath

23 And it happened that He was passing through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples began to make their way along while picking the heads of grain. 24 The Pharisees were saying to Him, "Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?"25 And He *said to them, "Have you never read what David did when he was in need and he and his companions became hungry;26 how he entered the house of God in the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the consecrated bread, which is not lawful for anyone to eat except the priests, and he also gave it to those who were with him?"27 Jesus said to them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
