Pilda semănătorului

1 Isus a început din nou să dea învățătură lângă mare. Se adunase o mulțime așa de mare în jurul Lui, încât El a trebuit să se suie și să stea într-o barcă, pe mare, în timp ce întreaga mulțime se afla lângă mare, pe țărm.2 El îi învăța multe lucruri în pilde și în învățătura Lui le spunea:

3 „Ascultați! Iată, semănătorul a ieșit să semene!4 În timp ce semăna el, o parte din sămânță a căzut lângă drum și au venit păsările și au mâncat-o.5 O altă parte a căzut în locuri stâncoase, unde nu avea pământ mult. A răsărit repede, pentru că nu avea pământ adânc,6 dar când a răsărit soarele, s-a ofilit și, fiindcă nu avea rădăcină, s-a uscat.7 O altă parte a căzut între spini, iar spinii au crescut și au sufocat-o, așa că nu a dat rod.8 Alta însă a căzut în pământ bun și a dat rod care s-a înălțat și a crescut: un grăunte a rodit treizeci, altul – șaizeci și altul – o sută.“

9 Apoi le zicea: „Cine are urechi de auzit, să audă!“

10 Când a fost singur, cei din jurul Lui împreună cu cei doisprezece L-au întrebat despre pilde.11 El le-a zis: „Vouă v-a fost dată tainat Împărăției lui Dumnezeu, dar pentru cei de afară toate li se spun în pilde,

12 pentru ca
«Să privească mereu, dar să nu priceapă
și să asculte întruna, dar să nu înțeleagă,
ca nu cumva să se întoarcă la Mine și să fie iertați!»“t

13 Apoi le-a zis: „Dacă nu înțelegeți această pildă, cum veți înțelege toate celelalte pilde?14 Semănătorul seamănă Cuvântul.15  Sămânța de lângă drum, unde este semănat Cuvântul, sunt cei care aud Cuvântul , dar vine imediat Satant și ia Cuvântul care a fost semănat în ei.16  Sămânța semănată în locuri stâncoase sunt cei care, atunci când aud Cuvântul, îl primesc imediat cu bucurie,17 dar nu au rădăcină în ei, ci durează doar pentru o vreme. Și când vine necazul sau persecuția din pricina Cuvântului, ei se poticnesc imediat.18 O altă sămânță , care este cea semănată între spini, sunt cei care aud Cuvântul,19 dar îngrijorările vieții, înșelăciunea bogăției și poftele pentru alte lucruri intră în ei , sufocă Cuvântul și acesta devine neroditor.20  Sămânța semănată în pământul cel bun sunt cei care aud Cuvântul, îl primesc și aduc rod : unul – treizeci, altul – șaizeci și altul – o sută.“

Pilda felinarului

21 El le-a mai zis: „Oare se aduce felinarul ca să fie pus sub un obroc sau sub un pat?! Nu este adus el ca să fie pus pe un suport?22 Căci nu este nimic ascuns care nu va fi dezvăluit și nu este nimic tăinuit care nu va ieși la iveală!23 Dacă are cineva urechi de auzit, să audă!

24 Fiți atenți la ceea ce auziți! Cu ce măsură măsurați, vi se va măsura și vi se va adăuga și mai mult!25 Căci celui ce are i se va da, dar de la cel ce n-are i se va lua chiar și ce are!“

Pilda cu sămânța care crește

26 El a mai zis:
„Cu Împărăția lui Dumnezeu este ca și cu un om care aruncă sămânță în pământ.27 Fie că el doarme noaptea sau este treaz ziua, sămânța încolțește și crește fără să știe el cum.28 Pământul rodește de la sine – mai întâi firul verde, apoi spicul, iar apoi întregul bob de grâu în spic.29 Când grâul este copt, pune imediat secera în el, pentru că a sosit secerișul.“

Pilda bobului de muștar

30 El a mai zis:
„Cu ce să asemănăm Împărăția lui Dumnezeu sau prin ce pildă am putea s-o descriem?31 Ea este ca un bob de muștar, care, atunci când este semănat în pământ, este cel mai mic dintre toate semințelet de pe pământ,32 dar după ce este semănat, el crește, ajunge mai maret decât toate zarzavaturile și face ramuri mari, așa încât păsările își pot face cuibul la umbra lor.“

33 Și prin multe astfel de pilde El le vestea Cuvântul, după cum erau ei în stare să-l ascultet.34 Nu le vorbea deloc fără să folosească vreo pildă. Dar când era doar El cu ucenicii Lui deoparte, le explica toate lucrurile.

Isus liniștește furtuna

35 În aceeași zi, când s-a lăsat seara, le-a zis: „Să traversăm în partea cealaltă!“36 Au lăsat mulțimea și L-au luat așa cum era, în barcă. Împreună cu El mai erau și alte bărci.37 S-a stârnit o furtună foarte puternică,t care arunca valurile asupra bărcii, așa încât barca era aproape plină cu apă .38 El era în partea din spate a bărcii , dormind pe căpătâi. L-au trezit și I-au spus: „Învățătorule, nu-Ți pasă că pierim?!“39 El S-a sculat, a mustrat vântul și a zis mării: „Taci! Liniștește-te!“ Vântul s-a oprit și s-a făcut o liniște mare.40 Apoi le-a zis: „De ce sunteți atât de fricoși? Tot n-aveți credință?“41 Ei s-au înfricoșat foarte tare și-și ziceau unii altora: „Cine este Acesta, de-L ascultă până și vântul, și marea?“

A Story about a Farmer

(Matthew 13.1-9; Luke 8.4-8)

1  t The next time Jesus taught beside Lake Galilee, a big crowd gathered. It was so large that he had to sit in a boat out on the lake, while the people stood on the shore.

2 He used stories to teach them many things, and this is part of what he taught:
3 Now listen! A farmer went out to scatter seed in a field. 4 While the farmer was scattering the seed, some of it fell along the road and was eaten by birds. 5 Other seeds fell on thin, rocky ground and quickly started growing because the soil wasn't very deep. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched and dried up, because they did not have deep roots. 7 Some other seeds fell where thornbushes grew up and choked out the plants. So they did not produce any grain.

8 But a few seeds did fall on good ground where the plants grew and produced 30 or 60 or even 100 times as much as was scattered.

9 Then Jesus said, “If you have ears, pay attention.”

Why Jesus Used Stories

(Matthew 13.10-17; Luke 8.9,10)

11 He answered:
I have explained the secret about God's kingdom to you, but for others I can use only stories.

12 t The reason is,
“These people will look
and look, but never see.
They will listen and listen,
but never understand.
If they did,
they would turn to God
and be forgiven.”

Jesus Explains the Story //about the Farmer

(Matthew 13.18-23; Luke 8.11-15)

13 Jesus then told them:
If you don't understand this story, you won't understand any others. 14 What the farmer is spreading is really the message about the kingdom. 15 The seeds that fell along the road are the people who hear the message. But Satan soon comes and snatches it away from them. 16 The seeds that fell on rocky ground are the people who gladly hear the message and accept it at once.

17 But they don't have roots, and they don't last very long. As soon as life gets hard or the message gets them in trouble, they give up.
18 The seeds that fell among the thornbushes are also people who hear the message. 19 But they start worrying about the needs of this life. They are fooled by the desire to get rich and to have all kinds of other things. So the message gets choked out, and they never produce anything.

20 The seeds that fell on good ground are the people who hear and welcome the message. They produce 30 or 60 or even 100 times as much as was planted.

Light

(Luke 8.16-18)

21  t Jesus also said:
You don't light a lamp and put it under a clay pot or under a bed. Don't you put a lamp on a lampstand? 22 t There is nothing hidden that will not be made public. There is no secret that will not be well known.

23 If you have ears, pay attention!
24  t Listen carefully to what you hear! The way you treat others will be the way you will be treated—and even worse.

25 t Everyone who has something will be given more. But people who don't have anything will lose what little they have.

Another Story about Seeds

26 Again Jesus said:
God's kingdom is like what happens when a farmer scatters seed in a field. 27 The farmer sleeps at night and is up and around during the day. Yet the seeds keep sprouting and growing, and he doesn't understand how. 28 It is the ground that makes the seeds sprout and grow into plants that produce grain.

29 t Then when harvest season comes and the grain is ripe, the farmer cuts it with a sickle.t

A Mustard Seed

(Matthew 13.31,32; Luke 13.18,19)

30 Finally, Jesus said:
What is God's kingdom like? What story can I use to explain it? 31 It is like what happens when a mustard seed is planted in the ground. It is the smallest seed in all the world.

32 But once it is planted, it grows larger than any garden plant. It even puts out branches that are big enough for birds to nest in its shade.

The Reason for Teaching //with Stories

(Matthew 13.34,35)

34 He did not tell them anything without using stories. But when he was alone with his disciples, he explained everything to them.

A Storm

(Matthew 8.23-27; Luke 8.22-25)

37 Suddenly a storm struck the lake. Waves started splashing into the boat, and it was about to sink.

38 Jesus was in the back of the boat with his head on a pillow, and he was asleep. His disciples woke him and said, “Teacher, don't you care that we're about to drown?”

39 Jesus got up and ordered the wind and the waves to be quiet. The wind stopped, and everything was calm.

40 Jesus asked his disciples, “Why were you afraid? Don't you have any faith?”
41 Now they were more afraid than ever and said to each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
