Elección de los doce apóstoles
(Mc 3,13-19; Lc 6,12-16)
1 Jesús reunió a sus doce discípulos* y les dio autoridad para expulsar espíritus impurost y para curar toda clase de enfermedades y dolencias.t 2 Estos son los nombres de los doce apóstoles: el primero, Simón, llamado Pedro, y su hermano Andrés; Santiago y su hermano Juan, hijos de Zebedeo;t 3 Felipe, Bartolomé, Tomás y Mateo el recaudador de impuestos*; Santiago, hijo de Alfeo*, y Tadeot;
4 Simón el cananeo* y Judas Iscariotet, el que luego traicionó a Jesús.Misión de los Doce
(Mc 6,7-13; Lc 9,1-6)
5 Jesús envió a estos Doce con las siguientes instrucciones:
— No vayan a países paganos ni entren en los pueblos de Samaríat;t 6 vayan, más bien, en busca de las ovejas perdidas de Israel.t 7 Vayan y anúncienles que el reino de los cielost está ya cerca.t
8 Curen a los enfermos, resuciten a los muertos, limpien de su enfermedad a los leprosos, expulsen a los demonios. Pero háganlo todo gratuitamente, puesto que gratis recibieron ustedes el poder.
9 No lleven oro, plata ni cobre en el bolsillo; 10 ni zurrón para el camino, ni dos trajes, ni zapatos, ni bastón, porque el que trabaja tiene derecho a su sustento.t 11 Cuando lleguen a algún pueblo o aldea, averigüen qué persona hay allí digna de confianza y quédense en su casa hasta que salgan del lugar. 12 Y cuando entren en la casa, saludent a sus moradores. 13 Si lo merecen, la paz de su saludo quedará con ellos; si no lo merecen, la paz se volverá a ustedes. 14 Y si nadie quiere recibirlos ni escuchar la palabra de ustedes, entonces abandonen aquella casa o aquel pueblo y sacúdanse el polvo pegado a los piest.t
15 Les aseguro que, en el día del juicio, Sodoma y Gomorrat serán tratadas con más clemencia que ese pueblo.tAnuncio de persecuciones
(Mc 13,9-13; Lc 21,12-17)
16 Miren, los envío como ovejas en medio de lobos. Por eso, sean astutos como serpientes, aunque también inocentes como palomas.t 17 Tengan cuidado con la gente, porque los entregarán a las autoridadest y los azotarán en sus sinagogas. 18 Por causa de mí los llevarán ante gobernadores y reyes para que den testimonio delante de ellos y de los paganos. 19 Pero cuando los entreguen a las autoridades, no se preocupen de cómo han de hablar o qué han de decir, pues en aquel momento Dios les sugerirá las palabras oportunas.t
20 No serán ustedes quienes hablen, sino que el Espíritu del Padre hablará por ustedes.
21 Los hermanos entregarán a sus hermanos y harán que los maten. Los padres entregarán a sus hijos, y los hijos se levantarán contra sus padres y los matarán. 22 Todos los odiarán por causa de mí; pero el que se mantenga firme hasta el fin se salvará.t
23 Cuando los persigan en una ciudad, huyan a otra, pues les aseguro que el Hijo del hombret vendrá antes que ustedes hayan recorrido todas las ciudades de Israel.t
24 Ningún discípulo es más que su maestro ni ningún criado es más que su amo.t
25 Bastante es que el discípulo llegue a ser como su maestro, y el criado como su amo. Si han llamado Belzebút al amo de la casa, ¿qué no dirán de sus familiares?Invitación a la confianza
(Lc 12,2-7)
26 No tengan miedo a la gente. Porque no hay nada secreto que no haya de ser descubierto, ni nada oculto que no haya de ser conocido.t 27 Lo que yo les digo en la oscuridad, díganlo ustedes a plena luz, y lo que escuchan en secreto, pregónenlo desde las terrazas.
28 No tengan miedo de los que pueden matar el cuerpo, pero no pueden matar el alma. Más bien tengan miedo de aquel que puede destruir el cuerpo y el alma en la gehenat.
29 ¿No se venden dos pájaros por muy poco dinerot? Sin embargo, ninguno de ellos cae a tierra si el Padre de ustedes no lo permite. 30 Pues bien, ustedes tienen contados hasta el último cabello de la cabeza.
31 Así que no tengan miedo; ustedes valen más que todos los pájaros.A favor o en contra de Jesús

32 Todo aquel que se declare a mi favor delante de los demás, yo también me declararé a favor suyo delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos.t
33 Y, al contrario, si alguien me niega delante de los demás, yo también lo negaré a él delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos.tJesús, causa de división

34 No crean que he venido a traer la paz al mundo. ¡No he venido a traer paz, sino guerrat! 35 Porque he venido a poner al hijoten contra de su padre, a la hija en contra de su madre y a la nuera en contra de su suegra;t
36 de manera que los enemigos de cada uno serán sus propios familiares.
37 El que quiera a su padre o a su madre más que a mí, no es digno de mí. El que quiera a su hijo o a su hija más que a mí, no es digno de mí.t 38 Y el que no esté dispuesto a tomar su cruz para seguirme, tampoco es digno de mí.t
39 El que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero el que, por causa de mí, la pierda, ese la salvará.Recompensas

40 El que los reciba a ustedes, es como si me recibiera a mí, y el que me reciba a mí, es como si recibiera al que me envió.t
41 El que reciba a un profeta por tratarse de un profeta, tendrá la recompensa que corresponde a un profeta, y el que reciba a un justo por tratarse de una persona justa, tendrá la recompensa que corresponde a una persona justa.t
42 Igualmente el que dé un vaso de agua fresca al más insignificante de mis discípulos precisamente por tratarse de un discípulo mío, les aseguro a ustedes que no quedará sin recompensa.t

Sending Out the Twelve Apostles
1 Jesust called his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spiritss so they could cast them out and heal every kind of disease and sickness.t2 Now these are the names of the twelve apostles:s first, Simons (called Peter), and Andrew his brother; James son of Zebedee and John his brother;3 Philip and Bartholomew;s Thomass and Matthew the tax collector;s James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;s
4 Simon the Zealott and Judas Iscariot,s who betrayed him.t
5 Jesus sent out these twelve, instructing them as follows:t “Do not go to Gentile regionst and do not enter any Samaritan town.t6 Got instead to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.7 As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near!’8 Heal the sick, raise the dead,s cleanse lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.9 Do not take gold, silver, or copper in your belts,10 no bagt for the journey, or an extra tunic,t or sandals or staff,s for the worker deserves his provisions.11 Whenevert you enter a town or village,t find out who is worthy theret and stay with themts until you leave.12 As you enter the house, give it greetings.t13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come on it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.s14 And if anyone will not welcome you or listen to your message, shake the dust offs your feet as you leave that house or that town.
15 I tell you the truth,t it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom and Gomorrahs on the day of judgment than for that town!
Persecution of Disciples
16 “It am sending you out like sheep surrounded by wolves,s so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.17 Bewaret of people, because they will hand you over to councilss and flogt you in their synagogues.s18 And you will be brought before governors and kingss because of me, as a witness to them and the Gentiles.19 Whenevert they hand you over for trial, do not worry about how to speak or what to say,t for what you should say will be given to you at that time.t
20 For it is not you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
21 “Brothert will hand over brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise againstt parents and have them put to death.22 And you will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
23 Whenevert they persecute you in one place,t flee to another. I tell you the truth,t you will not finish going through all the townst of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
24 “A disciple is not greater than his teacher, nor a slavet greater than his master.
25 It is enough for the disciple to become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house ‘Beelzebul,’ how much more will they defame the members of his household!
Fear God, Not Man
26 “Dot not be afraid of them, for nothing is hiddent that will not be revealed,s and nothing is secret that will not be made known.27 What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light, and what is whispered in your ear,t proclaim from the housetops.t28 Dot not be afraid of those who kill the bodys but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.s29 Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny?s Yet not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.t30 Even all the hairs on your head are numbered.
31 So do not be afraid;s you are more valuable than many sparrows.
32 “Whoever, then, acknowledgest me before people, I will acknowledgets before my Father in heaven.
33 But whoever denies me before people, I will deny him also before my Father in heaven.
Not Peace, but a Sword
34 “Do not think that I have come to bringt peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.35 For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,
36 and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.t
37 “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.38 And whoever does not take up his crosss and follow me is not worthy of me.
39 Whoever finds his lifet will lose it,s and whoever loses his life because of met will find it.
Rewards
40 “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.s41 Whoever receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. Whoevert receives a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.
42 And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple, I tell you the truth,t he will never lose his reward.”
