V. INSTRUCCIÓN PARA EL APOSTOLADO (10.1–11.1)
Jesús escoge a los doce apóstoles
(Mc 3.13-19; Lc 6.12-16)
1 Jesús llamó a sus doce discípulos y les dio autoridad para expulsar a los espíritus impurost y para curar toda clase de enfermedades y dolencias.
2 Estos son los nombres de los doce apóstoles:t primero Simón, llamado también Pedro, y su hermano Andrés; Santiago y su hermano Juan, hijos de Zebedeo; 3 Felipe y Bartolomé; Tomás y Mateo,t el que cobraba impuestos para Roma; Santiago, hijo de Alfeo, y Tadeo;t
4 Simón el cananeo,t y Judas Iscariote, el que traicionó a Jesús.Jesús instruye y envía a los apóstoles
(Mc 6.7-13; Lc 9.1-6)
5 Jesús envió a estos doce con las siguientes instrucciones:t
–No os dirijáis a las regiones de los paganos ni entréis en los pueblos de Samaria;t 6 id más bien a las ovejas perdidas del pueblo de Israel.t 7 Id y anunciad que el reino de los cielos está cerca.t
8 Sanad a los enfermos, resucitad a los muertos, limpiad de su enfermedad a los leprosos y expulsad a los demonios. Gratis habéis recibido este poder: dadlo gratis.
9 “No llevéis oro ni plata ni cobre
10 ni provisiones para el camino. No llevéis ropa de repuesto ni sandalias ni bastón, pues el obrero tiene derecho a su sustento.t
11 “Cuando lleguéis a un pueblo o aldea, buscad a alguien digno de confianza y quedaos en su casa hasta que salgáis de allí. 12 Al entrar en la casa, saludad a los que viven en ella. 13 Si la gente de la casa lo merece, la pazt de vuestro saludo quedará en ella; si no lo merece, volverá a vosotros.t 14 Y si no os reciben ni quieren escucharos, salid de la casa o del pueblo y sacudíos el polvo de los pies.t
15 Os aseguro que en el día del juicio el castigo de ese pueblo será más duro que el de los habitantes de la región de Sodoma y Gomorra.tPersecuciones
16 “Ved que os envío como a ovejas en medio de lobos.t Sed, pues, astutos como serpientes, aunque también sencillos como palomas. 17 Tened cuidado, porque os entregarán a las autoridades,t os golpearán en las sinagogas 18 y hasta os conducirán ante gobernadores y reyes por causa mía; así podréis dar testimonio de mí ante ellos y ante los paganos. 19 Pero cuando os entreguen a las autoridades, no os preocupéis por lo que habéis de decir o por cómo decirlo, porque en aquel momento os dará Dios las palabras.
20 No seréis vosotros quienes habléis, sino que el Espíritu de vuestro Padre hablará por vosotros.t
21 “Los hermanos entregarán a la muerte a sus hermanos, y los padres a sus hijos; y los hijos se levantarán contra sus padres, y los matarán.t 22 Todo el mundo os odiará por causa mía, pero el que permanezca firme hasta el fin, será salvo.t
23 Cuando os persigan en una ciudad huid a otra, pues os aseguro que el Hijo del hombre vendrá antes que hayáis recorrido todas las ciudades de Israel.
24 “Ningún discípulo es más que su maestro y ningún criado es más que su amo.t
25 El discípulo debe conformarse con llegar a ser como su maestro, y el criado, como su amo. Si al jefe de la casa llaman Beelzebú,t ¿cómo llamarán a los miembros de su familia?A quién se debe tener miedo

26 “No tengáis, pues, miedo a la gente. Porque nada hay secreto que no llegue a descubrirse ni nada oculto que no llegue a conocerse.t 27 Lo que os digo en la oscuridad, decidlo a la luz del día; lo que os digo en secreto, proclamadlo desde las azoteas de las casas.
28 No tengáis miedo a quienes pueden matar el cuerpo, pero no pueden matar el alma; temed más bien a aquel que puede destruir el cuerpo y el alma en el infierno.t
29 “¿No se venden dos pajarillost por una pequeña moneda?t Sin embargo, ni uno de ellos cae a tierra sin que vuestro Padre lo permita. 30 En cuanto a vosotros, hasta los cabellos de la cabeza los tenéis contados uno por uno.
31 Así que no tengáis miedo: vosotros valéis más que muchos pajarillos.Reconocer o negar a Jesucristo

32 “Si alguien se declara a favor mío delante de los hombres, también yo me declararé a favor suyo delante de mi Padre que está en el cielo;
33 pero al que me niegue delante de los hombres, también yo le negaré delante de mi Padre que está en el cielo.tJesús, causa de división

34 “No penséis que yo he venido a traer paz al mundo: no he venido a traer paz, sino guerra.t 35 He venido a causar discordia: a poner al hombre contra su padre, a la hija contra su madre y a la nuera contra su suegra;
36 de modo que los enemigos de uno serán sus propios familiares.t
37 “El que ama a su padre o a su madre más que a mí, no es digno de mí; el que ama a su hijo o a su hija más que a mí, no es digno de mí; 38 y el que no toma su cruz y me sigue, no es digno de mí.t
39 El que trate de salvar su vida, la perderá; en cambio, el que pierda su vidat por causa mía, la salvará.tRecompensas

40 “El que os recibe a vosotros, me recibe a mí; y el que me recibe a mí, recibe al que me envió.t 41 El que recibe a un profeta por ser profeta, recibirá la recompensa que merece un profeta; y el que recibe a un justo por ser justo, recibirá la recompensa que merece un justo. 42 Y cualquiera que dé aunque solo sea un vaso de agua fresca al más humilde de mis discípulost por ser mi discípulo, os aseguro que no quedará sin recompensa.”t

Sending Out the Twelve Apostles
1 Jesust called his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spiritss so they could cast them out and heal every kind of disease and sickness.t2 Now these are the names of the twelve apostles:s first, Simons (called Peter), and Andrew his brother; James son of Zebedee and John his brother;3 Philip and Bartholomew;s Thomass and Matthew the tax collector;s James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;s
4 Simon the Zealott and Judas Iscariot,s who betrayed him.t
5 Jesus sent out these twelve, instructing them as follows:t “Do not go to Gentile regionst and do not enter any Samaritan town.t6 Got instead to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.7 As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near!’8 Heal the sick, raise the dead,s cleanse lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.9 Do not take gold, silver, or copper in your belts,10 no bagt for the journey, or an extra tunic,t or sandals or staff,s for the worker deserves his provisions.11 Whenevert you enter a town or village,t find out who is worthy theret and stay with themts until you leave.12 As you enter the house, give it greetings.t13 And if the house is worthy, let your peace come on it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.s14 And if anyone will not welcome you or listen to your message, shake the dust offs your feet as you leave that house or that town.
15 I tell you the truth,t it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom and Gomorrahs on the day of judgment than for that town!
Persecution of Disciples
16 “It am sending you out like sheep surrounded by wolves,s so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.17 Bewaret of people, because they will hand you over to councilss and flogt you in their synagogues.s18 And you will be brought before governors and kingss because of me, as a witness to them and the Gentiles.19 Whenevert they hand you over for trial, do not worry about how to speak or what to say,t for what you should say will be given to you at that time.t
20 For it is not you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
21 “Brothert will hand over brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rise againstt parents and have them put to death.22 And you will be hated by everyone because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
23 Whenevert they persecute you in one place,t flee to another. I tell you the truth,t you will not finish going through all the townst of Israel before the Son of Man comes.
24 “A disciple is not greater than his teacher, nor a slavet greater than his master.
25 It is enough for the disciple to become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house ‘Beelzebul,’ how much more will they defame the members of his household!
Fear God, Not Man
26 “Dot not be afraid of them, for nothing is hiddent that will not be revealed,s and nothing is secret that will not be made known.27 What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light, and what is whispered in your ear,t proclaim from the housetops.t28 Dot not be afraid of those who kill the bodys but cannot kill the soul. Instead, fear the one who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.s29 Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny?s Yet not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.t30 Even all the hairs on your head are numbered.
31 So do not be afraid;s you are more valuable than many sparrows.
32 “Whoever, then, acknowledgest me before people, I will acknowledgets before my Father in heaven.
33 But whoever denies me before people, I will deny him also before my Father in heaven.
Not Peace, but a Sword
34 “Do not think that I have come to bringt peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.35 For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,
36 and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.t
37 “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.38 And whoever does not take up his crosss and follow me is not worthy of me.
39 Whoever finds his lifet will lose it,s and whoever loses his life because of met will find it.
Rewards
40 “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.s41 Whoever receives a prophet in the name of a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. Whoevert receives a righteous person in the name of a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward.
42 And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple, I tell you the truth,t he will never lose his reward.”
