Le plus grand dans le Royaume des cieux

1 A ce moment, les disciples s’approchèrent de Jésus et lui demandèrent : « Qui est le plus grand dans le Royaume des cieux ? » 2 Jésus appela un petit enfant, le plaça au milieu d’eux 3 et dit : « Je vous le déclare, c’est la vérité : si vous ne changez pas pour devenir comme des petits enfants, vous n’entrerez pas dans le Royaume des cieux. 4 Le plus grand dans le Royaume des cieux est celui qui s’abaisse et devient comme cet enfant.
5 Et l’homme qui reçoit un enfant comme celui-ci par amour pour moi, me reçoit moi-même.Sérieuse mise en garde

6 « Celui qui fait tomber dans le péché un de ces petits qui croient en moi, il vaudrait mieux pour lui qu’on lui attache au cou une grosse pierre et qu’on le noie au fond de la mer. 7 Quel malheur pour le monde que tous les faits qui entraînent les hommes à pécher ! Ils se produisent fatalement, mais malheur à l’homme qui en est la cause ! 8 Si c’est à cause de ta main ou de ton pied que tu tombes dans le péché, coupe-les et jette-les loin de toi ; il vaut mieux pour toi entrer dans la vraie vie avec une seule main ou un seul pied que de garder les deux mains et les deux pieds et d’être jeté dans le feu éternel.
9 Et si c’est à cause de ton œil que tu tombes dans le péché, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi ; il vaut mieux pour toi entrer dans la vraie vie avec un seul œil que de garder les deux yeux et d’être jeté dans le feu de l’enfer. »La parabole du mouton égaré et retrouvé

10 « Gardez-vous de mépriser l’un de ces petits ; je vous l’affirme, en effet, leurs anges se tiennent continuellement en présence de mon Père dans les cieux. [
11 Car le Fils de l’homme est venu sauver ceux qui étaient perdust.]
12 « Qu’en pensez-vous ? Supposons qu’un homme possède cent moutons et que l’un d’eux s’égare, ne va-t-il pas laisser les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres sur la colline pour partir à la recherche de celui qui s’est égaré ? 13 Je vous l’affirme, s’il le retrouve, il ressent plus de joie pour ce mouton que pour les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres qui ne se sont pas égarés.
14 De même, votre Pèret qui est dans les cieux ne veut pas qu’un seul de ces petits se perde. »Quand un frère se rend coupable
15 « Si ton frère se rend coupable à ton égardt, va le trouver seul à seul et montre-lui sa faute. S’il t’écoute, tu auras gagné ton frère. 16 Mais s’il refuse de t’écouter, prends une ou deux autres personnes avec toi, afin que, comme le dit l’Écriture, “toute affaire soit réglée sur le témoignage de deux ou trois personnest.”
17 Mais s’il refuse de les écouter, dis-le à l’Église ; et s’il refuse d’écouter l’Église, considère-le comme un incroyant ou un collecteur d’impôts.
18 « Je vous le déclare, c’est la vérité : tout ce que vous exclurez sur terre sera exclu dans le ciel ; tout ce que vous accueillerez sur terre sera accueilli dans le cielt.
19 « Je vous déclare aussi que si deux d’entre vous, sur la terre, s’accordent pour demander quoi que ce soit dans la prière, mon Père qui est dans les cieux le leur donnera.
20 Car là où deux ou trois s’assemblent en mon nom, je suis au milieu d’eux. »La parabole du serviteur qui refuse de pardonner
21 Alors Pierre s’approcha de Jésus et lui demanda : « Seigneur, combien de fois devrai-je pardonner à mon frère s’il se rend coupable envers moi ? jusqu’à sept fois ? » – 22 « Non, répondit Jésus, je ne te dis pas jusqu’à sept fois, mais jusqu’à soixante-dix fois sept foist. 23 C’est pourquoi, voici à quoi ressemble le Royaume des cieux : Un roi décida de régler ses comptes avec ses serviteurs. 24 Il commençait à le faire, quand on lui en amena un qui lui devait une énorme somme d’argent. 25 Cet homme n’avait pas de quoi rendre cet argent ; alors son maître donna l’ordre de le vendre comme esclave et de vendre aussi sa femme, ses enfants et tout ce qu’il possédait, afin de rembourser ainsi la dette. 26 Le serviteur se jeta à genoux devant son maître et lui dit : “Prends patience envers moi et je te paierai tout !” 27 Le maître en eut pitié : il annula sa dette et le laissa partir. 28 Le serviteur sortit et rencontra un de ses compagnons de service qui lui devait une très petite somme d’argent. Il le saisit à la gorge et le serrait à l’étouffer en disant : “Paie ce que tu me dois !” 29 Son compagnon se jeta à ses pieds et le supplia en ces termes : “Prends patience envers moi et je te paierai !” 30 Mais l’autre refusa ; bien plus, il le fit jeter en prison en attendant qu’il ait payé sa dette. 31 Quand les autres serviteurs virent ce qui était arrivé, ils en furent profondément attristés et allèrent tout raconter à leur maître. 32 Alors le maître fit venir ce serviteur et lui dit : “Méchant serviteur ! j’ai annulé toute ta dette parce que tu m’as supplié de le faire. 33 Tu devais toi aussi avoir pitié de ton compagnon, comme j’ai eu pitié de toi.”
34 Le maître était fort en colère et il envoya le serviteur aux travaux forcés en attendant qu’il ait payé toute sa dette. »
35 Et Jésus ajouta : « C’est ainsi que mon Père qui est au ciel vous traitera si chacun de vous ne pardonne pas à son frère de tout son cœur. »t
Matthew 18
1 In that hour came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?2 And he called to him a little child, and set him in the midst of them,3 and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye turn, and become as little children, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven.4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me:6 But whoso shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depth of the sea.
7 Woe unto the world because of occasions of stumbling! for it must needs be that the occasions come; but woe to that man through whom the occasion cometh!8 And if thy hand or thy foot causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed or halt, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fire.9 And if thine eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire.10 See that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven.11 For the Son of man came to save that which was lost.12 How think ye? if any man have a hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and go unto the mountains, and seek that which goeth astray?13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth over it more than over the ninety and nine which have not gone astray.14 Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
15 And if thy brother sin against thee, go, show him his fault between thee and him alone: if he hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.16 But if he hear thee not, take with thee one or two more, that at the mouth of two witnesses or three every word may be established.17 And if he refuse to hear them, tell it unto the church: and if he refuse to hear the church also, let him be unto thee as the Gentile and the publican.18 Verily I say unto you, what things soever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and what things soever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.19 Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven.20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
21 Then came Peter and said to him, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? until seven times?22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times; but, Until seventy times seven.23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, who would make a reckoning with his servants.24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, that owed him ten thousand talents.25 But forasmuch as he had not wherewith to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.26 The servant therefore fell down and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.27 And the lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.28 But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow-servants, who owed him a hundred shillings: and he laid hold on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay what thou owest.29 So his fellow-servant fell down and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee.30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay that which was due.31 So when his fellow-servants saw what was done, they were exceeding sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.32 Then his lord called him unto him, and saith to him, Thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou besoughtest me:33 shouldest not thou also have had mercy on thy fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on thee?34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due.35 So shall also my heavenly Father do unto you, if ye forgive not every one his brother from your hearts.
