Mateo 19

1 Y aconteció que cuando Jesús terminó estas palabras, partió de Galilea y se fue a la región de Judea, al otro lado del Jordán;

2 y le siguieron grandes multitudes, y los sanó allí.
3 Y se acercaron a El algunos fariseos para probarle, diciendo: ¿Es lícito a un hombre divorciarse de su mujer por cualquier motivo?4 Y respondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¿No habéis leído que aquel que los creó, desde el principio los hizo varon y hembra,5 y añadió: "Por esta razon el hombre dejara a su padre y a su madre y se unira a su mujer, y los dos seran una sola carne"?6 Por consiguiente, ya no son dos, sino una sola carne. Por tanto, lo que Dios ha unido, ningún hombre lo separe.7 Ellos le dijeron: Entonces, ¿por qué mandó Moisés darle carta de divorcio y repudiarla?8 El les dijo: Por la dureza de vuestro corazón, Moisés os permitió divorciaros de vuestras mujeres; pero no ha sido así desde el principio.9 Y yo os digo que cualquiera que se divorcie de su mujer, salvo por infidelidad, y se case con otra, comete adulterio.10 Los discípulos le dijeron: Si así es la relación del hombre con su mujer, no conviene casarse.11 Pero El les dijo: No todos pueden aceptar este precepto, sino sólo aquellos a quienes les ha sido dado.

12 Porque hay eunucos que así nacieron desde el seno de su madre, y hay eunucos que fueron hechos eunucos por los hombres, y también hay eunucos que a sí mismos se hicieron eunucos por causa del reino de los cielos. El que pueda aceptar esto, que lo acepte.
13 Entonces le trajeron algunos niños para que pusiera las manos sobre ellos y orara; y los discípulos los reprendieron.14 Pero Jesús dijo: Dejad a los niños, y no les impidáis que vengan a mí, porque de los que son como éstos es el reino de los cielos.

15 Y después de poner las manos sobre ellos, se fue de allí.
16 Y he aquí se le acercó uno y dijo: Maestro, ¿qué bien haré para obtener la vida eterna?17 Y El le dijo: ¿Por qué me preguntas acerca de lo bueno? Sólo Uno es bueno; pero si deseas entrar en la vida, guarda los mandamientos.18 El le dijo: ¿Cuáles? Y Jesús respondió: No mataras; no cometeras adulterio; no hurtaras; no daras falso testimonio;19 honra a tu padre y a tu madre; y amaras a tu projimo como a ti mismo.20 El joven le dijo: Todo esto lo he guardado; ¿qué me falta todavía?21 Jesús le dijo: Si quieres ser perfecto, ve y vende lo que posees y da a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en los cielos; y ven, sígueme.

22 Pero al oír el joven estas palabras, se fue triste, porque era dueño de muchos bienes.
23 Y Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: En verdad os digo que es difícil que un rico entre en el reino de los cielos.24 Y otra vez os digo que es más fácil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja, que el que un rico entre en el reino de Dios.25 Al oír esto, los discípulos estaban llenos de asombro, y decían: Entonces, ¿quién podrá salvarse?26 Pero Jesús, mirándo los, les dijo: Para los hombres eso es imposible, pero para Dios todo es posible.27 Entonces respondiendo Pedro, le dijo: He aquí, nosotros lo hemos dejado todo y te hemos seguido; ¿qué, pues, recibiremos?28 Y Jesús les dijo: En verdad os digo que vosotros que me habéis seguido, en la regeneración, cuando el Hijo del Hombre se siente en el trono de su gloria, os sentaréis también sobre doce tronos para juzgar a las doce tribus de Israel.29 Y todo el que haya dejado casas, o hermanos, o hermanas, o padre, o madre, o hijos o tierras por mi nombre, recibirá cien veces más, y heredará la vida eterna.30 Pero muchos primeros serán últimos, y los últimos, primeros.

Questions About Divorce

1 Now whent Jesus finished these sayings, he left Galilee and went to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan River.t

2 Large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.
3 Then some Phariseests came to him in order to test him. They asked, “Is it lawfuls to divorce a wife for any cause?”s4 He answered, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator made them male and female,s5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and will be united with his wife, and the two will become one flesh’?s6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”7 They said to him, “Why then did Moses command us to give a certificate of dismissal and to divorce her?”ss8 Jesusst said to them, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because of your hard hearts,t but from the beginning it was not this way.9 Now I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another commits adultery.”10 Thes disciples said to him, “If this is the case of a husband with a wife, it is better not to marry!”11 Het said to them, “Not everyone can accept this statement, except those to whom it has been given.

12 For there are some eunuchs who were that way from birth,t and some who were made eunuchst by others,t and some who became eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who is able to accept this should accept it.”

Jesus and Little Children

13 Then little children were brought to him for him to lay his hands on them and pray.t But the disciples scolded those who brought them.t14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not try to stop them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”s

15 And he placed his hands on them and went on his way.t

The Rich Young Man

16 Nowt someone came up to him and said, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to gain eternal life?”17 He said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”18 “Which ones?” he asked. Jesus replied, “Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony,19 honor your father and mother,s and love your neighbor as yourself.”s20 The young man said to him, “I have wholeheartedly obeyedt all these laws.ts What do I still lack?”21 Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be perfect, go sell your possessions and give the moneyt to the poor, and you will have treasures in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22 But when the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he was very rich.t
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth,t it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven!24 Again I say,t it is easier for a camels to go through the eye of a needles than for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God.”25 Thet disciples were greatly astonished when they heard this and said, “Then who can be saved?”s26 Jesust looked at them and replied, “This is impossible for mere humans,t but for God all things are possible.”27 Then Peter saidt to him, “Look,s we have left everything to follow you!t What then will there be for us?”28 Jesust said to them, “I tell you the truth:t In the age when all things are renewed,s when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judgings the twelve tribes of Israel.29 And whoever has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as muchs and will inherit eternal life.

30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.
