二一

1 　一行がエルサレムに近づき、オリーブ山のふもとのベテパゲ近くまで来た時、イエスは弟子を二人、こう言って使いに出しました。
2 　「村に入るとすぐ、一頭のろばといっしょに、子ろばがつないであるのに気づくでしょう。　それをほどいて、連れて来なさい。　3 もしだれかに、何をしているのかと聞かれたら、『主がお入用なのです』とだけ答えなさい。　そうすれば、何もめんどうは起こらないはずです。」
4 　それは、次のような昔の預言が実現するためでした。
5 　「エルサレムに告げよ。
『王がおいでになる。
ろばの子に乗って。
柔和な王がおいでになる。』」
6 　二人の弟子は、イエスの言いつけどおりに、　7 ろばの親子を連れて戻りました。　そして、子ろばの背に自分たちの上着をかけ、イエスをお乗せしました。　8 すると、群衆の中の大ぜいの者が、イエスの進んで行かれる道に自分たちの上着を敷いたり、木の枝を切ってきて敷き並べたりしました。
9 　どっと押し寄せた群衆は、イエスを取り囲み、口々に叫びました。
「ダビデ王の子、ばんざーいっ！」
「主をほめたたえよ！」
「このお方こそ神の人だーっ！」
「主よ。　このお方に祝福を！」
10 　イエスがエルサレムに入られると、町中が上を下への大騒ぎです。だれもが興奮して、「いったい、その方はどなたなんだい」と尋ねます。
11 　イエスについて来た群衆は、「ガリラヤのナザレ出身の預言者イエス様だよ」と答えました。
12 　それから、イエスは宮にお入りになり、境内で商売していた者たちを追い出され、両替人の机や、鳩を売っていた者たちの台をひっくり返し始められたのです。
13 　そして、彼らにはっきりと言われました。　「聖書（旧約）には、『わたしの神殿は祈りの場所と呼ばれる』と書いてあります。　ところがあなたがたは、それを強盗の巣にしてしまったではありませんか。」
14 　この宮の中へも、盲人や足の不自由な人たちがやって来たので、イエスは彼らを治されました。　15 ところが、祭司長や他のユダヤ人の指導者たちは、イエスが不思議な奇蹟を行なうのを見、また宮の中で小さい子供までが「ダビデ王の子、ばんざーいっ！」と叫ぶのを聞いて、すっかり腹を立てました。　16 そしてイエスに、「子供までがあんなことを言っているのに、おまえには聞こえないのか」と抗議しました。
　しかしイエスは、お答えになりました。　「もちろん聞こえています。　だが、いったい、あなたがたは聖書を読んだことがないのですか。　『小さい子供でさえ神をたたえる』と、書いてあるのを。」
17 　それから、イエスはエルサレムを出て、ベタニヤ村にお戻りになり、そこで一泊なさいました。
18 　翌朝、エルサレムに向かう途中、イエスは空腹になられました。　19 ふと見ると、道ばたにいちじくの木があります。　さっそく、そばへ行き、実がなっているかどうかをごらんになりましたが、あいにく葉ばかりです。　それで、イエスはその木に、「二度と実がなるな」と言われました。　すると、どうでしょう。　木はみるみる枯れていきました。
20 　「ああ、先生。　どうしたんでしょう。　こんなにもすぐに枯れるなんて......。」すっかり驚いた弟子たちの質問に、　21 イエスはお答えになりました。　「よく聞きなさい。　あなたがただって、信仰を持ち、疑いさえしなければ、もっと大きなことができるのですよ。　たとえば......、このオリーブ山に、『動いて、海に入れ』と言っても、そのとおりになります。　22 ほんとうに信じて祈り求めるなら、何でも与えられるのです。」
敵のわな
23 　イエスが宮に戻って教えておられると、祭司長と他のユダヤ人の指導者たちが来ました。　「昨日、おまえは商人たちを、ここから追い出したな。　いったい何の権威があって、そんなことをしたんだ。　ええっ。　さあ答えてもらおう。」彼らは詰め寄りました。
24 　イエスはお答えになりました。　「いいでしょう。　だが、まずわたしの質問に答えなさい。　そのあとで答えましょう。　25 バプテスマのヨハネは、神から遣わされたのですか。　それとも、遣わされなかったのですか。」彼らは集まって、ひそひそ相談しました。　「もし、『神様から遣わされた』と答えれば、『それを知っていて、どうしてヨハネのことばを信じなかったのか』と聞かれるだろう。　26 だからといって、『神様から遣わされたのではない』と言えば、今度は、ここにいる大ぜいの群衆が騒ぎだすだろう。　なにしろ連中はみな、ヨハネを預言者だと信じきっているんだから。」　27 結局、「わかりません」と答えるほかありませんでした。
　するとイエスは、言われました。　「それなら、わたしもさっきの質問には答えません。　28 ところで、次のような話をどう思いますか。ある人に息子が二人いました。　兄のほうに『今日、農場で働いてくれ』と言うと、　29 『はい、行きます』と答えたのに、実際には行きませんでした。　30 次に、弟のほうに、『おまえも行きなさい』と言いました。　弟は『いやです』と答えましたが、あとで悪かったと思い直し、出かけました。　31 二人のうち、どちらが父親の言うことを聞いたのでしょうか。」「もちろん、弟です。」彼らは答えました。
次にイエスは、そのたとえ話の意味を説明なさいました。　「確かに、悪人や売春婦たちのほうが、あなたがたより先に神の国に入ります。　32 そうでしょう。　バプテスマのヨハネが来て、悔い改めて神に立ち返れと言った時、あなたがたはその忠告を無視しました。　しかし、極悪人や売春婦たちは言われたとおりにしました。　あなたがたは、それを目のあたりにしながら、なお罪を捨てようとしませんでした。　ですから、信じることができなかったのです。
33 　もう一つのたとえ話をしましょう。　ある農園主が、ぶどう園を造り、垣根を巡らし、見張りの塔を建てました。　そして、収穫の何割かを取り分にするという約束で、農夫たちにぶどう園を貸し、自分は外国へ行って、そこに住んでいました。
34 　さて、収穫の時期になったので、幾人かの代理人をやり、自分の分を受け取ろうとしました。　35 ところが農夫たちは、代理人たちに襲いかかり、袋だたきにするやら、石を投げつけるやらしたあげく、一人を殺してしまいました。
36 　農園主はさらに多くの人を送りましたが、結果は同じことでした。　37 最後には、ついに息子を送ることにしました。　息子なら、きっと敬ってくれるだろうと思ったからです。
38 　ところが農夫たちは、その息子が来るのを見ると、『おっ、あれは、ぶどう園の跡取りだ。　よーし、あいつを片づけようぜ。　そうすりゃあ、ここはおれたちのものだ』と言って、　39 彼をぶどう園の外に引きずり出し、殺してしまいました。
40 　さあ、農園主が帰って来た時、この農夫たちはどんな目に会うでしょうか。」
41 　「もちろん農園主は、その悪者どもを情け容赦なく殺して、きちんと小作料を納める、ほかの農夫たちに貸すに決まってます。」
42 　「聖書（旧約）にこう書いてあるのを、読んだことがないのですか。
『建築士たちの捨てた石が、
最も重要な土台石となった。
なんとすばらしいことか。
主は、なんと驚くべきことをなさる方か。』
43 　わたしが言いたいのは、こういうことです。　神の国はあなたがたから取り上げられ、収穫の中から、神に納める分をきちんと納める、ほかの人たちに与えられるのです。　44 この真理の石につまずく者はみな打ち砕かれます。　反対に、この石が落ちてくると、だれもかれも、こっぱみじんです。」
45 　祭司長やパリサイ人たちは、このたとえ話を聞いて、その悪い農夫とは、実は自分たちのことなのだと気づきました。　46 それで、なんとかイエスを始末しようと考えましたが、群衆がこわくて手出しができません。　群衆は、イエスを預言者だと認めていたからです。天国とは？

Matthew 21

1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and came unto Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,2 saying unto them, Go into the village that is over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.3 And if any one say aught unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.4 Now this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,

5 Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, Meek, and riding upon an ass, And upon a colt the foal of an ass.

6 And the disciples went, and did even as Jesus appointed them,7 and brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their garments; and he sat thereon.8 And the most part of the multitude spread their garments in the way; and others cut branches from the trees, and spread them in the way.9 And the multitudes that went before him, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, Who is this?11 And the multitudes said, This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.

12 And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold the doves;13 and he saith unto them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer: but ye make it a den of robbers.14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children that were crying in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were moved with indignation,16 and said unto him, Hearest thou what these are saying? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea: did ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou has perfected praise?17 And he left them, and went forth out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.

18 Now in the morning as he returned to the city, he hungered.19 And seeing a fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only; and he saith unto it, Let there be no fruit from thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away.20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How did the fig tree immediately wither away?21 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do what is done to the fig tree, but even if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea, it shall be done.22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

23 And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one question, which if ye tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven or from men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why then did ye not believe him?26 But if we shall say, From men; we fear the multitude; for all hold John as a prophet.27 And they answered Jesus, and said, We know not. He also said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.28 But what think ye? A man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to-day in the vineyard.29 And he answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented himself, and went.30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.31 Which of the two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye saw it, did not even repent yourselves afterward, that ye might believe him.

33 Hear another parable: There was a man that was a householder, who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country.34 And when the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive his fruits.35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them in like manner.37 But afterward he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.38 But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and take his inheritance.39 And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.40 When therefore the lord of the vineyard shall come, what will he do unto those husbandmen?41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will let out the vineyard unto other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner; This was from the Lord, And it is marvelous in our eyes?

43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and shall be given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.44 And he that falleth on this stone shall be broken to pieces: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust.45 And when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.46 And when they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet.
