ΚΑΤΑ ΜΑΤΘΑΙΟΝ 21
Η είσοδος του Ιησού στα Ιεροσόλυμα
(Μκ 11,1-11· Λκ 19,28-38· Ιω 12,12-19)
1 Όταν πλησίαζαν στα *Ιεροσόλυμα κι έφτασαν στην Βηθσφαγή, κοντά στο όρος των Ελαιών, ο Ιησούς έστειλε δύο μαθητές 2 λέγοντάς τους: «Να πάτε στο χωριό που είναι απέναντί σας, και θα βρείτε αμέσως ένα θηλυκό γαϊδούρι δεμένο, μαζί με το πουλάρι του. Να τα λύσετε και να μου τα φέρετε. 3 Κι αν σας πει κανένας τίποτε, να του πείτε πως το χρειάζεται ο Κύριος. Κι αυτός θα τα στείλει αμέσως».
4 Αυτά έγιναν για να εκπληρωθεί εκείνο που είχε πει ο Θεός με τα λόγια του *προφήτη:
5 Πέστε στην πόλη της *Σιών:
Έρχεται σ’ εσένα ο βασιλιάς σου
πράος, καβάλα πάνω σε γαϊδούρι,
πάνω σε πουλάρι, γέννημα υποζυγίου.
6 Οι μαθητές πήγαν κι έκαναν όπως τους πρόσταξε ο Ιησούς: 7 Έφεραν το γαϊδούρι και το πουλάρι του, έβαλαν πάνω τους τα ρούχα τους κι εκείνος κάθισε πάνω σ’ αυτά. 8 Οι πιο πολλοί από το πλήθος έστρωναν τα ρούχα τους στο δρόμο, ενώ άλλοι έκοβαν κι έστρωναν κλαδιά από τα δέντρα.
9 Και το πλήθος, όσοι βάδιζαν μπροστά του κι όσοι ακολουθούσαν, κραύγαζαν:
Δόξα στον *Υιό του Δαβίδ!
Ευλογημένος αυτός που έρχεται σταλμένος από τον Κύριο!
Δόξα στον ύψιστο Θεό!
10 Όταν μπήκε στα Ιεροσόλυμα, αναστατώθηκε όλη η πόλη. «Ποιος είναι αυτός;» ρωτούσαν.
11 Το πλήθος έλεγε: «Αυτός είναι ο προφήτης Ιησούς, από τη Ναζαρέτ της Γαλιλαίας».Η εκδίωξη των εμπόρων από το ναό
(Μκ 11,15-19· Λκ 19,45-48· Ιω 2,13-22)
12 Ο Ιησούς μπήκε στο *ναό του Θεού κι έδιωξε όλους αυτούς που πουλούσαν και αγόραζαν στο χώρο του ναού, και αναποδογύρισε τα τραπέζια των αργυραμοιβών και τα καθίσματα αυτών που πουλούσαν περιστέρια.
13 Και τους είπε: «Η *Γραφή λέει:
Ο οίκος μου πρέπει να είναι οίκος προσευχής·
εσείς όμως τον κάνατε σπήλαιο ληστών».
14 Εκεί στο ναό τον πλησίασαν κουτσοί και τυφλοί, και τους θεράπευσε. 15 Όταν είδαν οι *αρχιερείς και οι *γραμματείς τα θαύματα που έκανε, και τα παιδιά να φωνάζουν μέσα στο ναό και να λένε «δόξα στον Υιό του Δαβίδ», αγανάκτησαν
16 και του έλεγαν: «Δεν ακούς τι λένε αυτοί;» «Και βέβαια τ’ άκουσα», τους απάντησε ο Ιησούς. «Αλλά κι εσείς δε διαβάσατε ποτέ στην Γραφή, πως
από το στόμα των νηπίων και των βρεφών έκανες να βγει τέλειος ύμνος;»
17 Τους άφησε και βγήκε έξω από την πόλη, στην Βηθανία, και διανυκτέρευσε εκεί.Η άκαρπη συκιά
(Μκ 11,12-14.20-24)
18 Ξαναπηγαίνοντας ο Ιησούς το πρωί στην πόλη, πείνασε. 19 Βλέποντας στο δρόμο μια συκιά, ήρθε κοντά της, μα δε βρήκε παρά μόνο φύλλα· και της λέει: «Ποτέ πια να μην ξαναβγάλεις καρπό!» Κι αμέσως ξεράθηκε η συκιά. 20 Όταν το είδαν οι μαθητές, απόρησαν και είπαν: «Πώς ξεράθηκε αμέσως η συκιά;» 21 Ο Ιησούς τους αποκρίθηκε: «Σας βεβαιώνω, αν έχετε πίστη χωρίς ν’ αμφιβάλλετε, όχι μόνο θα κάνετε το θαύμα με τη συκιά, αλλά κι αν πείτε σ’ αυτό το βουνό, “σήκω και πέσε στη θάλασσα”, θα γίνει.
22 Κι όλα όσα ζητήσετε στην προσευχή με πίστη, θα τα λάβετε».Η εξουσία του Ιησού
(Μκ 11,27-33· Λκ 20,1-8)
23 Όταν ο Ιησούς ήρθε στο ναό και δίδασκε, τον πλησίασαν οι αρχιερείς και οι *πρεσβύτεροι του λαού και του είπαν: «Με ποια εξουσία τα κάνεις αυτά; Και ποιος σου έδωσε αυτή την εξουσία;» 24 Τους αποκρίθηκε ο Ιησούς: «Θα σας κάνω κι εγώ μια ερώτηση· αν μου απαντήσετε, θα σας πω κι εγώ με ποια εξουσία τα κάνω αυτά: 25 Το βάπτισμα του Ιωάννη από πού προερχόταν; από το Θεό ή από τους ανθρώπους;» Αυτοί συζητούσαν μεταξύ τους κι έλεγαν: «Αν πούμε “από το Θεό”, θα μας πει, “γιατί τότε δεν το πιστέψατε;” 26 Αν πάλι πούμε, “από τους ανθρώπους”, φοβόμαστε τον κόσμο, γιατί όλοι τον Ιωάννη τον θεωρούν προφήτη».
27 Απάντησαν, λοιπόν, στον Ιησού: «Δεν ξέρουμε». Τους είπε κι εκείνος: «Ούτε κι εγώ σας λέω με ποια εξουσία τα κάνω αυτά».Η παραβολή για τους δύο γιους
28 «Τι γνώμη έχετε τώρα γι’ αυτό που θα σας πω: Κάποιος είχε δύο παιδιά. Πάει λοιπόν στον πρώτο και του λέει: “παιδί μου, πήγαινε σήμερα κι εργάσου στο αμπέλι”. 29 Αυτός του είπε: “δε θέλω”. Ύστερα όμως μετάνιωσε και πήγε. 30 Πάει και στον δεύτερο και του λέει τα ίδια. Εκείνος του αποκρίθηκε: “μάλιστα, κύριε”, αλλά δεν πήγε. 31 Ποιος από τους δύο έκανε το θέλημα του πατέρα του;» «Ο πρώτος», του απαντούν. Τους λέει ο Ιησούς: «Σας βεβαιώνω πως οι *τελώνες και οι πόρνες θα μπουν πριν από σας στη *βασιλεία του Θεού.
32 Ήρθε σ’ εσάς ο Ιωάννης κηρύττοντας την οδό της σωτηρίας, και δεν τον πιστέψατε· οι τελώνες όμως και οι πόρνες τον πίστεψαν. Κι εσείς, παρ’ όλο που τους είδατε, δε μετανοήσατε ούτε τότε για να τον πιστέψετε».Η παραβολή των κακών γεωργών
(Μκ 12,1-12· Λκ 20,9-10)
33 «Ακούστε άλλη μια παραβολή: Ένας γαιοκτήμονας φύτεψε ένα αμπέλι, το περίφραξε, έσκαψε σ’ αυτό πατητήρι, έχτισε πύργο, το νοίκιασε σε γεωργούς και έφυγε για άλλον τόπο. 34 Όταν πλησίαζε η εποχή της καρποφορίας, έστειλε τους δούλους του στους γεωργούς να πάρουν το μερίδιό του από τους καρπούς. 35 Οι γεωργοί όμως έπιασαν τους δούλους του, κι άλλον τον έδειραν, άλλον τον σκότωσαν κι άλλον τον λιθοβόλησαν. 36 Ξανάστειλε άλλους δούλους, περισσότερους από τους πρώτους και τους έκαναν τα ίδια. 37 Τελευταίον τους έστειλε το γιο του με τη σκέψη: “θα σεβαστούν το γιο μου”. 38 Οι γεωργοί όμως, όταν είδαν το γιο, είπαν μεταξύ τους: “αυτός είναι ο *κληρονόμος. Εμπρός, ας τον σκοτώσουμε και ας αρπάξουμε την *κληρονομιά του”. 39 Τον έπιασαν, λοιπόν, τον έβγαλαν έξω από τ’ αμπέλι και τον σκότωσαν. 40 Όταν λοιπόν έρθει ο ιδιοκτήτης του αμπελιού, τι θα κάνει σ’ εκείνους τους γεωργούς;»
41 «Είναι κακοί», του λένε. «Γι’ αυτό θα τους εξολοθρεύσει με το χειρότερο τρόπο και θα νοικιάσει το αμπέλι σ’ άλλους γεωργούς, που θα του δίνουν τους καρπούς στην εποχή τους».
42 Τους λέει ο Ιησούς: «Ποτέ δε διαβάσατε στις Γραφές;
Ο λίθος που τον πέταξαν σαν άχρηστον οι οικοδόμοι,
αυτός έγινε αγκωνάρι·
ο Κύριος το έκανε αυτό,
και είν’ αξιοθαύμαστο στα μάτια μας».
43-44 «Όποιος πέσει πάνω σ’ αυτόν το λίθο θα τσακιστεί· και σ’ όποιον πάνω πέσει ο λίθος, θα τον κομματιάσει. Γι’ αυτό σας βεβαιώνω πως ο Θεός θα σας αφαιρέσει το προνόμιο να είστε ο λαός της βασιλείας του, και θα το δώσει σ’ ένα λαό που θα παράγει τους καρπούς της βασιλείας».
45 Οι αρχιερείς και οι *Φαρισαίοι άκουσαν τις παραβολές του και κατάλαβαν πως μιλάει γι’ αυτούς. 46 Κι ενώ ήθελαν να τον πιάσουν, φοβήθηκαν τα πλήθη, γιατί τον πίστευαν για προφήτη.
Matthew 21
1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and came unto Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,2 saying unto them, Go into the village that is over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.3 And if any one say aught unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.4 Now this is come to pass, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,
5 Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, Meek, and riding upon an ass, And upon a colt the foal of an ass.
6 And the disciples went, and did even as Jesus appointed them,7 and brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their garments; and he sat thereon.8 And the most part of the multitude spread their garments in the way; and others cut branches from the trees, and spread them in the way.9 And the multitudes that went before him, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, Who is this?11 And the multitudes said, This is the prophet, Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee.
12 And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold the doves;13 and he saith unto them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer: but ye make it a den of robbers.14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children that were crying in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were moved with indignation,16 and said unto him, Hearest thou what these are saying? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea: did ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou has perfected praise?17 And he left them, and went forth out of the city to Bethany, and lodged there.
18 Now in the morning as he returned to the city, he hungered.19 And seeing a fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only; and he saith unto it, Let there be no fruit from thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away.20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How did the fig tree immediately wither away?21 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do what is done to the fig tree, but even if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou taken up and cast into the sea, it shall be done.22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
23 And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?24 And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one question, which if ye tell me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven or from men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why then did ye not believe him?26 But if we shall say, From men; we fear the multitude; for all hold John as a prophet.27 And they answered Jesus, and said, We know not. He also said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.28 But what think ye? A man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to-day in the vineyard.29 And he answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented himself, and went.30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.31 Which of the two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye saw it, did not even repent yourselves afterward, that ye might believe him.
33 Hear another parable: There was a man that was a householder, who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country.34 And when the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive his fruits.35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them in like manner.37 But afterward he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.38 But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and take his inheritance.39 And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.40 When therefore the lord of the vineyard shall come, what will he do unto those husbandmen?41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will let out the vineyard unto other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, The same was made the head of the corner; This was from the Lord, And it is marvelous in our eyes?
43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and shall be given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.44 And he that falleth on this stone shall be broken to pieces: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust.45 And when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.46 And when they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet.
