Parábola del banquete de bodas

(Lc 14.15-24)

1 Jesús se puso a hablarles otra vez por medio de parábolas. Les dijo:
2 “El reino de los cielos puede compararse a un rey que hizo un banquete para la boda de su hijo. 3 Envió a sus criados a llamar a los invitados, pero estos no quisieron acudir. 4 Volvió a enviar más criados, encargándoles: ‘Decid a los invitados que ya tengo preparado el banquete. He hecho matar mis novillos y reses cebadas, y todo está preparado: que vengan a la boda.’ 5 Pero los invitados no hicieron caso. Uno se fue a sus tierras, otro a sus negocios 6 y otros echaron mano a los criados del rey y los maltrataron hasta matarlos. 7 Entonces el rey, lleno de ira, ordenó a sus soldados que mataran a aquellos asesinos y quemaran su pueblo. 8 Luego dijo a sus criados: ‘Todo está preparado para la boda, pero aquellos invitados no merecían venir. 9 Id, pues, por las calles principales, e invitad a la boda a cuantos encontréis.’

10 Los criados salieron a las calles y reunieron a todos los que encontraron, malos y buenos,t y así la sala del banquete se llenó de convidados.
11 “Cuando el rey entró a ver a los convidados, se fijó en uno que no iba vestido para la boda. 12 Le dijo: ‘Amigo, ¿cómo has entrado aquí, si no vienes vestido para la boda?’ Pero el otro se quedó callado. 13 Entonces el rey dijo a los que atendían las mesas: ‘Atadlo de pies y manos y arrojadlo fuera, a la oscuridad. Allí llorará y le rechinarán los dientes.’t

14 Porque muchos son llamados, pero pocos escogidos.”t

La cuestión de los impuestos

(Mc 12.13-17; Lc 20.20-26)

16 Así que enviaron a algunos de los partidarios de ellos, junto con otros del partido de Herodes,t a decirle:
–Maestro, sabemos que tú siempre dices la verdad, que enseñas de veras a vivir como Dios manda y que no te dejas llevar por lo que dice la gente, porque no juzgas a los hombres por su apariencia.

17 Danos, pues, tu opinión: ¿estamos nosotros obligados a pagar impuestos al césar, o no?t

18 Jesús, dándose cuenta de la mala intención que llevaban, les dijo:
–Hipócritas, ¿por qué me tendéis trampas?

19 Enseñadme la moneda con que se paga el impuesto.
Le trajeron un denario,t

20 y Jesús les preguntó:
–¿De quién es esta imagen y el nombre aquí escrito?

21 Le contestaron:
–Del césar.
Jesús les dijo entonces:
–Pues dad al césar lo que es del césar, y a Dios lo que es de Dios.t

22 Al oir esto se quedaron admirados; y dejándole, se fueron.

La pregunta sobre la resurrección

(Mc 12.18-27; Lc 20.27-40)

23 Aquel mismo día acudieron algunos saduceos a ver a Jesús. Los saduceos niegan la resurrección de los muertos,t y por eso le plantearon este caso:
24 –Maestro, Moisés dijo que si uno muere sin dejar hijos, su hermano deberá tomar por esposa a la viuda para dar hijos al hermano que murió.t 25 Pues bien, había una vez entre nosotros siete hermanos. El primero se casó, pero murió sin haber tenido hijos, así que su segundo hermano se casó con la viuda. 26 Lo mismo le pasó al segundo, y también al tercero, y así hasta el séptimo. 27 Después de todos ellos murió también la mujer.

28 Ahora pues, en la resurrección, ¿cuál de los siete hermanos la tendrá por esposa, si todos estuvieron casados con ella?

29 Jesús les contestó:
–Os equivocáis porque no conocéis las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios. 30 Cuando los muertos resuciten, ni los hombres ni las mujeres se casarán, sino que serán como los ángeles que están en el cielo. 31 Y en cuanto a que los muertos resucitan, ¿no habéis leído que Dios mismo dijo:

32 ‘Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, de Isaac y de Jacob’? ¡Y Dios no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos!t

33 Al oir esto, la gente se quedó admirada de las enseñanzas de Jesús.

El mandamiento más importante

(Mc 12.28-34)

35 Uno de aquellos, maestro de la ley,t para tenderle una trampa le preguntó:

36 –Maestro, ¿cuál es el mandamiento más importante de la ley?t

37 Jesús le dijo:
–‘Ama al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma y con toda tu mente.’t 38 Este es el más importante y el primero de los mandamientos. 39 Y el segundo es parecido a este: ‘Ama a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.’t

40 De estos dos mandamientos pende toda la ley de Moisés y las enseñanzas de los profetas.t t

¿De quién desciende el Mesías?

(Mc 12.35-37; Lc 20.41-44)

41 Estando todavía reunidos los fariseos, Jesús les preguntó:

42 –¿Qué pensáis del Mesías? ¿De quién desciende?
–De Davidt –le contestaron.

43 Entonces les dijo Jesús:
–¿Pues cómo es que David, inspirado por el Espíritu, le llama Señor? Porque David dijo:

44 ‘El Señor dijo a mi Señor:
Siéntate a mi derecha
hasta que yo ponga a tus enemigos
debajo de tus pies.’t

45 ¿Cómo puede el Mesías descender de David, si David mismo le llama Señor?t
46 Nadie pudo responderle ni una palabra, y desde aquel día ninguno se atrevió a hacerle más preguntas.

Matthew 22

The Parable of the Wedding Banquet

1 Jesus spoket to them again in parables, saying:2 “The kingdom of heaven can be compared to a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son.3 He sent his slavest to summon those who had been invited to the banquet, but they would not come.4 Again he sent other slaves, saying, ‘Tell those who have been invited, “Look! The feast I have prepared for you is ready.t My oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.”’5 But they were indifferent and went away, one to his farm, another to his business.6 Thet rest seized his slaves, insolently mistreated them, and killed them.7 Thet king was furious! He sent his soldiers, and they put those murderers to deatht and set their cityt on fire.8 Then he said to his slaves, ‘The wedding is ready, but the ones who had been invited were not worthy.9 So go into the main streets and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.’10 And those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all they found, both bad and good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.11 But when the king came in to see the wedding guests, he saw a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes.12 And he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?’ But he had nothing to say.t13 Then the king said to his attendants, ‘Tie him up hand and foot and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth!’

14 For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Paying Taxes to Caesar

15 Then the Phariseess went out and planned together to entrap him with his own words.t16 They sent to him their disciples along with the Herodians,s saying, “Teacher, we know that you are truthful, and teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.s You do not court anyone’s favor because you show no partiality.t

17 Tell us then, what do you think? Is it rightt to pay taxests to Caesart or not?”
18 But Jesus realized their evil intentions and said, “Hypocrites! Why are you testing me?19 Show me the coin used for the tax.” Sot they brought him a denarius.ts20 Jesust said to them, “Whose imagets is this, and whose inscription?”21 They replied,t “Caesar’s.” He said to them,t “Then give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”s

22 Now when they heard this they were stunned,t and they left him and went away.

Marriage and the Resurrection

23 The same day Sadduceess (who say there is no resurrection)s came to him and asked him,t24 “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and father childrentfor his brother.’s25 Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children he left his wife to his brother.26 The second did the same, and the third, down to the seventh.27 Lastt of all, the woman died.28 In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife of the seven will she be? For they all had married her.”t29 Jesust answered them, “You are deceived,t because you don’t know the scriptures or the power of God.30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angelsss in heaven.31 Now as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God,t32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?s He is not the God of the dead but of the living!”s

33 When the crowds heard this, they were amazed at his teaching.

The Greatest Commandment

34 Now when the Phariseess heard that he had silenced the Sadducees,s they assembled together.t35 And one of them, an expert in religious law,t asked him a question to testt him:36 “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?”t37 Jesust said to him, “‘Lovetthe Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’s38 This is the first and greatestt commandment.39 The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’s

40 All the law and the prophets dependt on these two commandments.”

The Messiah: David’s Son and Lord

41 Whilet the Phariseess were assembled, Jesus asked them a question:t42 “What do you think about the Christ?ts Whose son is he?” They said, “The son of David.”s

43 He said to them, “How then does David by the Spirit call him ‘Lord,’ saying,

44 ‘The Lord said to my lord,s
“Sit at my right hand,
until I put your enemies under your feet”’?s
45 If David then calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?”t

46 No onet was able to answer him a word, and from that day on no one dared to question him any longer.
