La parabole du grand repas de mariage

1 Jésus utilisa de nouveau des paraboles pour parler à ses auditeurs. Il leur dit : 2 « Voici à quoi ressemble le Royaume des cieux : Un roi organisa un repas pour le mariage de son fils. 3 Il envoya ses serviteurs appeler les invités pour ce repas, mais ils ne voulurent pas venir. 4 Il envoya alors d’autres serviteurs avec cet ordre : “Dites aux invités : Mon repas est préparé maintenant, mes taureaux et mes bêtes grasses sont tués, tout est prêt. Venez au repas de mariage !” 5 Mais les invités ne s’en soucièrent pas et s’en allèrent à leurs affaires : l’un à son champ, l’autre à son commerce ; 6 les autres saisirent les serviteurs, les maltraitèrent et les tuèrent. 7 Le roi se mit en colère : il envoya ses soldats tuer ces assassins et incendier leur ville. 8 Puis il dit à ses serviteurs : “Le repas de mariage est prêt, mais les invités ne le méritaient pas. 9 Allez donc dans les principales rues et invitez au repas tous ceux que vous pourrez trouver.” 10 Les serviteurs s’en allèrent dans les rues et rassemblèrent tous ceux qu’ils trouvèrent, les mauvais comme les bons ; et ainsi, la salle de fête se remplit de monde. 11 Le roi entra alors pour voir les invités et il aperçut un homme qui ne portait pas de costume de fête. 12 Il lui demanda : “Mon ami, comment es-tu entré ici sans costume de fête ?” Mais l’homme ne répondit rien. 13 Alors le roi dit aux serviteurs : “Liez-lui les pieds et les mains et jetez-le dehors, dans le noir. C’est là qu’il pleurera et grincera des dents.”
14 En effet, ajouta Jésus, beaucoup sont invités, mais peu sont admis. »L’impôt payé à l’empereur

15 Les Pharisiens allèrent alors tenir conseil pour décider comment ils pourraient prendre Jésus au piège par une question. 16 Ils envoyèrent ensuite quelques-uns de leurs disciples et quelques membres du parti d’Hérodet dire à Jésus : « Maître, nous savons que tu dis la vérité : tu enseignes la vérité sur la conduite que Dieu demande ; tu n’as pas peur de ce que pensent les autres et tu ne tiens pas compte de l’apparence des gens. 17 Dis-nous donc ce que tu penses de ceci : notre loi permet-elle ou non de payer des impôts à l’empereur romain ? » 18 Mais Jésus connaissait leurs mauvaises intentions ; il leur dit alors : « Hypocrites, pourquoi me tendez-vous un piège ? 19 Montrez-moi l’argent qui sert à payer l’impôt. » Ils lui présentèrent une pièce d’argent, 20 et Jésus leur demanda : « Ce visage et ce nom gravés ici, de qui sont-ils ? » – 21 « De l’empereur », répondirent-ils. Alors Jésus leur dit : « Payez donc à l’empereur ce qui lui appartient, et à Dieu ce qui lui appartient. »
22 Quand ils entendirent cette réponse, ils furent remplis d’étonnement. Ils le laissèrent et s’en allèrent.Une question sur la résurrection des morts

23 Le même jour, quelques Sadducéens vinrent auprès de Jésus. – Ce sont eux qui affirment qu’il n’y a pas de résurrectiont. – Ils l’interrogèrent 24 de la façon suivante : « Maître, voici ce que Moïse a déclaré : “Si un homme meurt sans avoir eu d’enfants, son frère doit épouser la veuve pour donner des descendants à celui qui est mortt.” 25 Or, il y avait parmi nous sept frères. Le premier se maria, mourut sans avoir eu d’enfants et laissa ainsi sa veuve à son frère. 26 Il en fut de même pour le deuxième frère, puis pour le troisième et pour tous les sept. 27 Après eux tous, la femme mourut aussi. 28 Au jour où les morts se relèveront, duquel des sept sera-t-elle donc la femme ? Car ils l’ont tous eue comme épouse ! » 29 Jésus leur répondit : « Vous vous trompez parce que vous ne connaissez ni les Écritures, ni la puissance de Dieu. 30 En effet, quand les morts se relèveront, les hommes et les femmes ne se marieront pas, mais ils vivront comme les anges dans le ciel. 31 Pour ce qui est de se relever d’entre les morts, n’avez-vous jamais lu ce que Dieu vous a déclaré ? Il a dit : 32 “Je suis le Dieu d’Abraham, le Dieu d’Isaac et le Dieu de Jacobt.” Dieu, ajouta Jésus, est le Dieu des vivants, et non des morts. »
33 Tous ceux qui l’avaient entendu étaient impressionnés par son enseignement.Le commandement le plus important

34 Quand les Pharisiens apprirent que Jésus avait réduit au silence les Sadducéens, ils se réunirent. 35 Et l’un d’eux, un maître de la loi, voulut lui tendre un piège ; il lui demanda :
36 « Maître, quel est le plus grand commandement de la loi ? »
37 Jésus lui répondit : « “Tu dois aimer le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme et de toute ton intelligencet.” 38 C’est là le commandement le plus grand et le plus important. 39 Et voici le second commandement, qui est d’une importance semblable : “Tu dois aimer ton prochain comme toi-mêmet.”
40 Toute la loi de Moïse et tout l’enseignement des prophètes dépendent de ces deux commandements. »tLe Messie et David

41 Les Pharisiens se trouvaient réunis et Jésus leur posa cette question : 42 « Que pensez-vous du Messie ? De qui est-il le descendant ? » – « Il est le descendant de David », lui répondirent-ils.
43 Jésus leur dit : « Comment donc David, guidé par le Saint-Esprit, a-t-il pu l’appeler “Seigneur” ? Car David a dit :
44 “Le Seigneur Dieu a déclaré à mon Seigneur :
Viens siéger à ma droite,
je veux contraindre tes ennemis à passer sous tes piedst.”
45 « Si donc David l’appelle “Seigneur”, comment le Messie peut-il être aussi descendant de David ? » 46 Aucun d’eux ne put lui répondre un seul mot et, à partir de ce jour, personne n’osa plus lui poser de questions.
Matthew 22
1 And Jesus answered and spake again in parables unto them, saying,2 The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,3 and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the marriage feast: and they would not come.4 Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them that are bidden, Behold, I have made ready my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage feast.5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;6 and the rest laid hold on his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.7 But the king was wroth; and he sent his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they that were bidden were not worthy.9 Go ye therefore unto the partings of the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage feast.10 And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests.11 But when the king came in to behold the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment:12 and he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless.13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and cast him out into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.14 For many are called, but few chosen.
15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might ensnare him in his talk.16 And they send to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one: for thou regardest not the person of men.17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why make ye trial of me, ye hypocrites?19 Show me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a denarius.20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?21 They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.22 And when they heard it, they marvelled, and left him, and went away.
23 On that day there came to him Sadducees, they that say that there is no resurrection: and they asked him,24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first married and deceased, and having no seed left his wife unto his brother;26 in like manner the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.27 And after them all, the woman died.28 In the resurrection therefore whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.29 But Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as angels in heaven.31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.33 And when the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.
34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, gathered themselves together.35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, trying him:36 Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?37 And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.38 This is the great and first commandment.39 And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.40 On these two commandments the whole law hangeth, and the prophets.
41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,42 saying, What think ye of the Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I put thine enemies underneath thy feet?
45 If David then calleth him Lord, how is he his son?46 And no one was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
