二二

1 　天国がどのようなものかを教えようと、イエスはまた幾つかのたとえ話をなさいました。
2 　「たとえば、天国は、王子のために盛大な結婚披露宴を準備した王のようなものです。　3 大ぜいの客が招待されました。　宴会の準備がすっかり整ったので、王は使いをやり、招待客に、もうおいでになる時間です、と知らせました。　ところが、なんと、みな出席を断わってきたではありませんか。　4 それでも王は、もう一度別の使いをやり、こう言わせました。　『何もかも用意ができました。　肉も焼き始めています。　あなた様のおいでを待つばかりです。』
5 　ところが、招待客はそれをせせら笑うだけで、ある者は農場へ、ある者は自分の店へと出かけて行きました。　6 そればかりか、中には王の使者に恥をかかせたり、なぐったり、殺してしまう者さえいました。
7 　これを聞いて、もうれつに怒った王は、すぐさま軍隊を出動させ、人殺しどもを滅ぼし、町を焼き払ってしまいました。　8 そして王は、『披露宴の準備はできたというのに、招いておいた者どもは列席する資格のない連中ばかりだった。　9 よろしい。　さあ、町へ行って、出会う者は片っぱしから、みな招待してくるのだ』と命じました。
10 　王の使者たちは、命令どおり、善人悪人の区別なく、だれでも招待してきました。　宴会場は客でいっぱいです。　11 ところが、王が客に会おうと出て来ると、用意しておいた婚礼の礼服を着ていない客が一人います。　12 『礼服もつけずに、どうしてここへ入って来たのか』と尋ねましたが、その男は何とも返事をしません。
13 　それで王は、側近の者たちに命じました。　『この男の手足を縛って、外の暗やみに放り出せ。　そこで泣きわめいたり、歯ぎしりしたりしてくやしがるがよい。』　14 招待される人は多くても、選ばれる人は少ないのです。」
15 　そのころ、パリサイ人たちは、イエスをわなにかけて逮捕のきっかけになることを言わせようと、知恵をしぼりました。　16 そして、数人の仲間をヘロデ党（ヘロデを支持する政治的な一派）の者たちといっしょにイエスのところへやり、こう質問させました。　「先生。　あなた様がたいへん正直なお方で、だれをも恐れず、また人をえこひいきもなさらず、いつも堂々と真理を教えておられることは、よく存じ上げております。　17 それで、ぜひともお教え願いたいのですが......、ローマ政府に税金を納めることは、正しいことでしょうか。　それともよくないことでしょうか。」
18 　イエスは、彼らの計略を見抜いて言われました。
「偽善者たち！　わたしをわなにかけようというのですか。　19 さあ、銀貨を出して見せなさい。」
20 　「ここに刻まれているのは、だれの肖像ですか、その下にある名前はだれのものですか。」銀貨を受け取ったイエスは問いただしました。
21 　「カイザル（ローマ皇帝）です。」
「そのとおり。　ローマ皇帝のものなら、それはローマ皇帝に返しなさい。　しかし神のものは全部、神に返さなければなりません。」
22 　彼らはこの答えに驚き、返すことばもなく、すごすごイエスの前から立ち去りました。
23 　ちょうど同じ日に、死後の復活などはないと主張するサドカイ人たちも来て、イエスに尋ねました。　24 「先生。　モーセの法律では、ある男が結婚して子供のないまま死んだ場合、弟が兄の未亡人と結婚して、生まれた子供に兄のあとを継がせることになっていますね。　25 ところで、こういう場合はどうなるのでしょう。　七人兄弟の家族があって、長男は結婚しましたが、子供がないまま死んだので、残された未亡人は次男の妻になりました。　26 ところが、次男も子供がないまま死に、その妻は三男のものになりました。　しかし、三男も四男も同じことで、ついにこの女は、七人兄弟全部の妻になりましたが、結局、子供はできずじまいでした。　27 そして、彼女も死んだのですが......、　28 そうすると、復活の時には、彼女はいったいだれの妻になるのでしょう。　生前、七人とも彼女を妻にしたのですが。」
29 　しかし、イエスは言われました。　「あなたがたは聖書も神の力もわかっていません。　思い違いをしています。　30 いいですか。　復活の時には、結婚などというものはありません。　みんなが天の使いのようになるのです。　31-32 ところで、死人が復活するかどうかについて、聖書を読んだことがないのですか。　神が、『わたしはアブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神である』と言われた時（すでに死んでしまったアブラハム、イサク、ヤコブがいま神の御前で生きていなければ、神は『アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブの神であった』と言われるはずです）、あなたがたにも直接そう語りかけておられたのだということが、わからないのですか。　神は死んだ人の神ではなく、生きている人の神なのです。」
一番重要な戒め
33 　群衆はこのイエスの答えに、すっかり感心しました。　34-35 しかし、パリサイ人たちはそうはいきません。　サドカイ人たちが言い負かされたと知ると、彼らは彼らで新しい質問を考え出し、さっそくイエスのところにやって来ました。　その中の法律の専門家が、　36 「先生。　モーセの法律の中で一番重要な戒めは何でしょうか」と尋ねました。
37 　イエスはお答えになりました。　「『心を尽くし、たましいを尽くし、思いを尽くして、あなたの神である主を愛しなさい。』　38 これが第一で、最も重要な戒めです。　39 第二に重要なのも、同じようなもので、『自分を愛するように、あなたの隣人を愛しなさい』という戒めです。　40 ほかのすべての戒めと預言者たちの命令も、この二つから出ています。　ですから、この二つを守れば、ほかの戒めを全部守ったことになるのです。　これを守りなさい。」
41 　それから、イエスは、回りを取り囲んでいるパリサイ人たちに質問なさいました。　42 「キリストをどう思いますか。　彼はいったいだれの子ですか。」
「ダビデ王の子です。」
43 　「それでは、なぜダビデは聖霊に動かされて語った時、キリストを『主』と呼んだのでしょうか。　確かこんなふうに......。
44 　『神が私の主に言われた。
「わたしがあなたの敵を
あなたの足の下に置くまで、
わたしの右に座っていなさい。」』
45 ダビデがキリストを『主』と呼んでいるのなら、キリストが、ただのダビデの子であるわけはありません。」
46 　これには、返すことばもありませんでした。　その日以来、だれも、あえてイエスに質問しようとしなくなりました。偽善者のまちがい

Matthew 22

1 And Jesus answered and spake again in parables unto them, saying,2 The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,3 and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the marriage feast: and they would not come.4 Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them that are bidden, Behold, I have made ready my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage feast.5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;6 and the rest laid hold on his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.7 But the king was wroth; and he sent his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they that were bidden were not worthy.9 Go ye therefore unto the partings of the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage feast.10 And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests.11 But when the king came in to behold the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment:12 and he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless.13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and cast him out into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.14 For many are called, but few chosen.

15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might ensnare him in his talk.16 And they send to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one: for thou regardest not the person of men.17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why make ye trial of me, ye hypocrites?19 Show me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a denarius.20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?21 They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.22 And when they heard it, they marvelled, and left him, and went away.

23 On that day there came to him Sadducees, they that say that there is no resurrection: and they asked him,24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first married and deceased, and having no seed left his wife unto his brother;26 in like manner the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.27 And after them all, the woman died.28 In the resurrection therefore whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.29 But Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as angels in heaven.31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.33 And when the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, gathered themselves together.35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, trying him:36 Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?37 And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.38 This is the great and first commandment.39 And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.40 On these two commandments the whole law hangeth, and the prophets.

41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,42 saying, What think ye of the Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,

44 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I put thine enemies underneath thy feet?

45 If David then calleth him Lord, how is he his son?46 And no one was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
