Matei 22

Pilda nunții fiului de împărat

1 Isus a început să le vorbească din nou în pilde și le-a zis:

2 „Împărăția lui Dumnezeu poate fi asemănată cu un împărat care i-a făcut nuntă fiului său.3 El și-a trimis sclavii să-i cheme pe cei invitați la nuntă, dar aceștia n-au vrut să vină.4 A trimis din nou alți sclavi, zicându-le: «Spuneți-le celor invitați: ‘Iată, am pregătit masa, boii și animalele îngrășate au fost tăiate și toate sunt pregătite! Veniți deci la nuntă!’»

5 Dar invitații nu le-au dat nici o atenție și au plecat, unul la ogorul lui, iar altul la negustoria lui.6 Ceilalți i-au înșfăcat pe sclavi, i-au maltratat și i-au omorât.7 Împăratul s-a mâniat foarte tare . El și-a trimis trupele, i-a nimicit pe ucigașii aceia și le-a ars cetatea.

8 Apoi le-a zis sclavilor săi: «Nunta este pregătită, dar cei invitați n-au fost vrednici de ea.9 Mergeți, așadar, la răspântiile drumurilor și chemați-i la nuntă pe toți aceia pe care îi găsiți!»10 Sclavii aceia au ieșit pe drumuri și i-au adunat pe toți aceia pe care i-au găsit, și răi, și buni; și sala nunții s-a umplut de oaspeți.

11 Când împăratul a venit să-și vadă oaspeții, a văzut acolo un om care nu se îmbrăcase în haină de nuntă

12 și l-a întrebat:
– Prietene, cum ai intrat aici fără să ai haină de nuntă?
Acesta a amuțit.

13 Atunci împăratul le-a zis slujitorilor:
– Legați-l de mâini și de picioare și aruncați-l în întunericul de afară! Acolo va fi plânsul și scrâșnirea dinților!
14 Căci mulți sunt chemați, dar puțini sunt aleși.“

Tributul datorat Cezarului

15 Atunci fariseii s-au dus și s-au sfătuit cum să-L prindă în cursă cu vorba.

16 I-au trimis la El pe ucenicii lor împreună cu irodieniit, care I-au zis:
– Învățătorule, știm că ești corect și că-i înveți pe oameni calea lui Dumnezeu în adevăr, fără să-Ți pese de nimeni, căci nu cauți la fața oamenilor.17 Așadar, spune-ne, ce părere ai: se cuvine să-i plătim tribut Cezaruluit sau nu?

18 Isus însă a înțeles intenția lor rea și le-a zis:
– De ce Mă puneți la încercare, ipocriților?

19 Arătați-Mi moneda pentru tribut!
Ei I-au adus un denart.

20 Isus i-a întrebat:
– Chipul acesta și inscripția, ale cui sunt?

21 – Ale Cezarului, au răspuns ei.
Atunci El le-a zis:
– Dați-i deci Cezarului ce este al Cezarului, iar lui Dumnezeu ce este al lui Dumnezeu!t

22 Ei au rămas uimiți când au auzit aceste cuvinte . Și astfel L-au lăsat și au plecat.

Despre înviere

23 În aceeași zi au venit la El saducheii, care zic că nu există înviere, și L-au întrebat:

24 – Învățătorule, Moise a zis că, dacă moare cineva fără să aibă copii, fratele acestuia trebuie să se căsătorească cu văduva și să-i ridice un urmaș fratelui său.t25 Erau printre noi șapte frați. Primul s-a căsătorit, dar a murit fără să aibă vreun urmaș, lăsându-i-o astfel pe soția sa fratelui său.26 Așa s-a întâmplat și cu al doilea, și cu al treilea, apoi tot așa până la al șaptelea.27 Femeia a murit ultima dintre toți.28 La înviere, soția căruia dintre cei șapte va fi ea? Căci toți au avut-o de soție !

29 Isus le-a răspuns:
– Sunteți rătăciți, pentru că nu cunoașteți nici Scripturile, nici puterea lui Dumnezeu!30 Căci la înviere nici nu se vor mai însura, nici nu se vor mai mărita, ci vor fi ca îngerii din cer.31 Iar cu privire la învierea morților, n-ați citit ce v-a spus Dumnezeu, când zice:32 „Eu sunt Dumnezeul lui Avraam, Dumnezeul lui Isaac și Dumnezeul lui Iacov“?t El nu este un Dumnezeu al celor morți, ci al celor vii!

33 Auzind aceste lucruri , mulțimile erau uimite de învățătura Lui.

Cea mai mare poruncă

34 Când au auzit fariseii că Isus le astupase gura saducheilor, s-au strâns la un loc.35 Unul dintre ei, un expert în Lege, ca să-L pună la încercare, L-a întrebat:

36 – Învățătorule, care este cea mai mare poruncă din Lege?

37 Isus i-a răspuns:
– „Să-L iubești pe Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, cu toată inima ta, cu tot sufletul tău și cu toată mintea ta“t.38 Aceasta este cea dintâi și cea mai mare poruncă.39 Iar a doua, asemenea ei, este: „Să-l iubești pe semenul tău ca pe tine însuți“t.40 Toată Legea și Profețiit depindt de aceste două porunci.

Al cui fiu este Cristos?

41 În timp ce fariseii erau strânși la un loc, Isus a întrebat:

42 – Ce părere aveți voi despre Cristos? Al cui Fiu este El?
Ei I-au răspuns:
– Al lui David.

43 Isus le-a zis:
– Cum atunci David, în Duhul, Îl numește „Domn“, când spune:

44 „Domnul I-a zis Domnului meu:t
«Șezi la dreapta Mea
până-Ți voi pune dușmanii
sub picioare!»“?t

45 Deci, dacă David Îl numește „Domn“, cum este El Fiul lui?

46 Nimeni n-a putut să-I răspundă nici măcar un cuvânt și, din acea zi, nimeni n-a mai îndrăznit să-I pună întrebări.

MATTHEW 22

The Great Banquet

(Luke 14.15-24)

1 Once again Jesus used stories to teach the people:
2 The kingdom of heaven is like what happened when a king gave a wedding banquet for his son. 3 The king sent some servants to tell the invited guests to come to the banquet, but the guests refused.

4 He sent other servants to say to the guests, “The banquet is ready! My cattle and prize calves have all been prepared. Everything is ready. Come to the banquet!”
5 But the guests did not pay any attention. Some of them left for their farms, and some went to their places of business.

6 Others grabbed the servants, then beat them up and killed them.
7 This made the king so furious that he sent an army to kill those murderers and burn down their city. 8 Then he said to the servants, “It is time for the wedding banquet, and the invited guests don't deserve to come. 9 Go out to the street corners and tell everyone you meet to come to the banquet.”

10 They went out on the streets and brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike. And the banquet room was filled with guests.
11 When the king went in to meet the guests, he found that one of them wasn't wearing the right kind of clothes for the wedding. 12 The king asked, “Friend, why didn't you wear proper clothes for the wedding?” But the guest had no excuse. 13 t So the king gave orders for this person to be tied hand and foot and to be thrown outside into the dark. That's where people will cry and grit their teeth in pain.

14 t Many are invited, but only a few are chosen.

Paying Taxes

(Mark 12.13-17; Luke 20.20-26)

17 Tell us what you think! Should we pay taxes to the Emperor or not?”
18 Jesus knew their evil thoughts and said, “Why are you trying to test me? You show-offs! 19 Let me see one of the coins used for paying taxes.” They brought him a silver coin,

20 and he asked, “Whose picture and name are on it?”

21 “The Emperor's,” they answered.
Then Jesus told them, “Give the Emperor what belongs to him and give God what belongs to God.”

22 His answer surprised them so much that they walked away.

Life in the Future World

(Mark 12.18-27; Luke 20.27-40)

23  t The Sadducees did not believe people would rise to life after death. So that same day some of the Sadducees came to Jesus and said:

24  t Teacher, Moses wrote that if a married man dies and has no children, his brother should marry the widow. Their first son would then be thought of as the son of the dead brother.
25 Once there were seven brothers who lived here. The first one married, but died without having any children. So his wife was left to his brother. 26 The same thing happened to the second and third brothers and finally to all seven of them. 27 At last the woman died.

28 When God raises people from death, whose wife will this woman be? She had been married to all seven brothers.

29 Jesus answered:
You are completely wrong! You don't know what the Scriptures teach. And you don't know anything about the power of God. 30 t When God raises people to life, they won't marry. They will be like the angels in heaven. 31 And as for people being raised to life, God was speaking to you when he said,

32 t “I am the God worshiped by Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”t He isn't the God of the dead, but of the living.

33 The crowds were surprised to hear what Jesus was teaching.

The Most Important //Commandment

(Mark 12.28-34; Luke 10.25-28)

36 “Teacher, what is the most important commandment in the Law?”

37  t Jesus answered:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. 38 This is the first and most important commandment. 39 t The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, “Love others as much as you love yourself.”

40 All the Law of Moses and the Books of the Prophetst are based on these two commandments.

About David's Son

(Mark 12.35-37; Luke 20.41-44)

42 “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose family will he come from?”
They answered, “He will be a son of King David.”t

43 Jesus replied, “How then could the Spirit lead David to call the Messiah his Lord? David said,

44  t ‘The Lord said to my Lord:
Sit at my right sidet
until I make your enemies
into a footstool for you.’
45 If David called the Messiah his Lord, how can the Messiah be a son of King David?” 46 No one was able to give Jesus an answer, and from that day on, no one dared ask him any more questions.
