혼인 잔치의 비유

(눅 14:15-24)

1  예수께서 다시 여러 가지 비유로 그들에게 말씀하셨다. 2 “하늘 나라는 자기 아들의 혼인 잔치를 베푼 어떤 임금에게 비길 수 있다. 3 임금이 자기 종들을 보내서, 초대받은 사람들을 잔치에 불러오게 하였는데, 그들은 오려고 하지 않았다. 4 그래서 다시 다른 종들을 보내며, 이렇게 말하였다. ‘초대받은 사람들에게로 가서, 음식을 다 차리고, 황소와 살진 짐승을 잡아서 모든 준비를 마쳤으니, 어서 잔치에 오시라고 하여라.’ 5 그런데 초대받은 사람들은, 그 말을 들은 척도 하지 않고, 저마다 제 갈 곳으로 떠나갔다. 한 사람은 자기 밭으로 가고, 한 사람은 장사하러 갔다. 6 그리고 나머지 사람들은 그의 종들을 붙잡아서, 모욕하고 죽였다. 7 임금은 노해서, 자기 군대를 보내서 그 살인자들을 죽이고, 그들의 도시를 불살라 버렸다. 8 그리고 자기 종들에게 말하였다. ‘혼인 잔치는 준비되었는데, 초대받은 사람들은 이것을 받을 만한 자격이 없다. 9 그러니 너희는 네 거리로 나가서, 아무나, 만나는 대로 잔치에 청해 오너라.’ 10 종들은 큰길로 나가서, 악한 사람이나, 선한 사람이나, 만나는 대로 다 데려왔다. 그래서 혼인 잔치 자리는 손님으로 가득 차게 되었다. 11 임금이 손님들을 만나러 들어갔다가, 거기에 혼인 예복을 입지 않은 사람이 한 명 있는 것을 보고 그에게 묻기를, 12 ‘이 사람아, 그대는 혼인 예복을 입지 않았는데, 어떻게 여기에 들어왔는가?’ 하니, 그는 아무 말도 하지 못하였다. 13 그 때에 임금이 종들에게 분부하였다. ‘이 사람의 손발을 묶어서, 바깥 어두운 데로 내던져라. 거기서 슬피 울며 이를 갈 것이다.’ 14 부름받은 사람은 많으나, 뽑힌 사람은 적다.”

황제에게 바치는 세금

(막 12:13-17; 눅 20:20-26)

15 그 때에 바리새파 사람들이 나가서, 어떻게 하면 말로 트집을 잡아서 예수를 올무에 걸리게 할까 의논하였다. 16 그런 다음에, 그들은 자기네 제자들을 헤롯 당원들과 함께 예수께 보내어, 이렇게 묻게 하였다. “선생님, 우리는, 선생님이 진실한 분이시고, 하나님의 길을 참되게 가르치시며, 아무에게도 매이지 않으시는 줄 압니다. 선생님은 사람의 겉모습을 따지지 않으십니다. 17 그러니 선생님의 생각은 어떤지 말씀하여 주십시오. 황제에게 세금을 바치는 것이 옳습니까, 옳지 않습니까?” 18 예수께서 그들의 간악한 생각을 아시고 말씀하셨다. “위선자들아, 어찌하여 나를 시험하느냐? 19 세금으로 내는 돈을 나에게 보여 달라.” 그들은 데나리온 한 닢을 예수께 가져다 드렸다. 20 예수께서 그들에게 물으셨다. “이 초상은 누구의 것이며, 적힌 글자는 누구를 가리키느냐?” 21 그들이 대답하였다. “황제의 것입니다.” 그 때에 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “그렇다면, 황제의 것은 황제에게 돌려주고, 하나님의 것은 하나님께 돌려드려라.” 22 그들은 이 말씀을 듣고 탄복하였다. 그들은 예수를 남겨 두고 떠나갔다.

부활을 두고 묻다

(막 12:18-27; 눅 20:27-40)

23 같은 날 t사두개파 사람들이 예수께 와서, 부활이 없다고 주장하면서, 예수께 말하였다. 24 “선생님, 모세가 말하기를 ‘어떤 사람이 자식이 없이 죽으면, 그 동생이 형수에게 장가들어서, 그 후사를 세워 주어야 한다’ 하였습니다. 25 그런데 우리 이웃에 일곱 형제가 있었습니다. 맏이가 장가를 들었다가, 자식이 없이 죽으므로, 아내를 그의 동생에게 남겨 놓았습니다. 26 둘째도 셋째도 그렇게 해서, 일곱이 다 그렇게 하기에 이르렀습니다. 27 맨 나중에는, 그 여자도 죽었습니다. 28 그러니 부활 때에 그 여자는 누구의 아내가 되겠습니까? 일곱이 모두 그 여자를 아내로 맞아들였으니 말입니다.” 29 예수께서 그들에게 대답하셨다. “너희는 성경도 모르고, 하나님의 능력도 모르기 때문에, 잘못 생각하고 있다. 30 부활 때에는 사람들은 장가도 가지 않고, 시집도 가지 않고, 하늘에 있는 천사들과 같다. 31 죽은 사람들의 부활을 두고 말하면서, 너희는 아직도 하나님께서 너희에게 하신 말씀을 읽어보지 못하였느냐? 32 하나님께서는 t‘나는 아브라함의 하나님이요, 이삭의 하나님이요, 야곱의 하나님이다’ 하고 말씀하셨다. 하나님은 죽은 사람의 하나님이 아니라, 살아 있는 사람의 하나님이시다.” 33 무리는 이 말씀을 듣고, 예수의 가르침에 놀랐다.

가장 큰 계명

(막 12:28-34; 눅 10:25-28)

34  바리새파 사람들이, 예수가 사두개파 사람들의 말문을 막아버리셨다는 소문을 듣고, 한 자리에 모였다. 35 그리고 그들 가운데 t율법 교사 하나가 예수를 시험하여 물었다. 36 “선생님, 율법 가운데 어느 계명이 중요합니까?” 37 예수께서 그에게 말씀하셨다. “t‘네 마음을 다하고, 네 목숨을 다 하고, 네 뜻을 다하여, 주 너의 하나님을 사랑하여라’ 하였으니, 38 이것이 가장 중요하고 으뜸 가는 계명이다. 39 둘째 계명도 이것과 같은데, t‘네 이웃을 네 몸과 같이 사랑하여라’ 한 것이다. 40 이 두 계명에 온 율법과 예언서의 본 뜻이 달려 있다.”

다윗의 자손

(막 12:35-37; 눅 20:41-44)

41  바리새파 사람들이 모였을 때에, 예수께서 그들에게 물으셨다. 42 “너희는 t그리스도를 어떻게 생각하느냐? 그는 누구의 자손이냐?” 그들이 예수께 대답하였다. “다윗의 자손입니다.” 43 예수께서 다시 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “그러면 다윗이 t성령의 감동을 받아, 그를 주님이라고 부르면서 말하기를, 44  t‘주님께서 내 주께 말씀하셨다. 「내가 네 원수를 네 발 아래에 굴복시킬 때까지, 너는 내 오른쪽에 앉아 있어라」’ 하였으니, 이것이 어찌된 일이냐?

45 다윗이 그리스도를 주라고 불렀는데, 어떻게 그리스도가 그의 자손이 되겠느냐?” 46 그러자 아무도 예수께 한 마디도 대답하지 못했으며, 그 날부터는 그에게 감히 묻는 사람도 없었다.

MATTHEW 22

The Great Banquet

(Luke 14.15-24)

1 Once again Jesus used stories to teach the people:
2 The kingdom of heaven is like what happened when a king gave a wedding banquet for his son. 3 The king sent some servants to tell the invited guests to come to the banquet, but the guests refused.

4 He sent other servants to say to the guests, “The banquet is ready! My cattle and prize calves have all been prepared. Everything is ready. Come to the banquet!”
5 But the guests did not pay any attention. Some of them left for their farms, and some went to their places of business.

6 Others grabbed the servants, then beat them up and killed them.
7 This made the king so furious that he sent an army to kill those murderers and burn down their city. 8 Then he said to the servants, “It is time for the wedding banquet, and the invited guests don't deserve to come. 9 Go out to the street corners and tell everyone you meet to come to the banquet.”

10 They went out on the streets and brought in everyone they could find, good and bad alike. And the banquet room was filled with guests.
11 When the king went in to meet the guests, he found that one of them wasn't wearing the right kind of clothes for the wedding. 12 The king asked, “Friend, why didn't you wear proper clothes for the wedding?” But the guest had no excuse. 13 t So the king gave orders for this person to be tied hand and foot and to be thrown outside into the dark. That's where people will cry and grit their teeth in pain.

14 t Many are invited, but only a few are chosen.

Paying Taxes

(Mark 12.13-17; Luke 20.20-26)

15 The Pharisees got together and planned how they could trick Jesus into saying something wrong. 16 They sent some of their followers and some of Herod's followerst to say to him, “Teacher, we know that you are honest. You teach the truth about what God wants people to do. And you treat everyone with the same respect, no matter who they are.

17 Tell us what you think! Should we pay taxes to the Emperor or not?”
18 Jesus knew their evil thoughts and said, “Why are you trying to test me? You show-offs! 19 Let me see one of the coins used for paying taxes.” They brought him a silver coin,

20 and he asked, “Whose picture and name are on it?”

21 “The Emperor's,” they answered.
Then Jesus told them, “Give the Emperor what belongs to him and give God what belongs to God.”

22 His answer surprised them so much that they walked away.

Life in the Future World

(Mark 12.18-27; Luke 20.27-40)

23  t The Sadducees did not believe people would rise to life after death. So that same day some of the Sadducees came to Jesus and said:

24  t Teacher, Moses wrote that if a married man dies and has no children, his brother should marry the widow. Their first son would then be thought of as the son of the dead brother.
25 Once there were seven brothers who lived here. The first one married, but died without having any children. So his wife was left to his brother. 26 The same thing happened to the second and third brothers and finally to all seven of them. 27 At last the woman died.

28 When God raises people from death, whose wife will this woman be? She had been married to all seven brothers.

29 Jesus answered:
You are completely wrong! You don't know what the Scriptures teach. And you don't know anything about the power of God. 30 t When God raises people to life, they won't marry. They will be like the angels in heaven. 31 And as for people being raised to life, God was speaking to you when he said,

32 t “I am the God worshiped by Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”t He isn't the God of the dead, but of the living.

33 The crowds were surprised to hear what Jesus was teaching.

The Most Important //Commandment

(Mark 12.28-34; Luke 10.25-28)

34 After Jesus had made the Sadducees look foolish, the Pharisees heard about it and got together. 35 t One of them was an expert in the Jewish Law. So he tried to test Jesus by asking,

36 “Teacher, what is the most important commandment in the Law?”

37  t Jesus answered:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. 38 This is the first and most important commandment. 39 t The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, “Love others as much as you love yourself.”

40 All the Law of Moses and the Books of the Prophetst are based on these two commandments.

About David's Son

(Mark 12.35-37; Luke 20.41-44)

41 While the Pharisees were still there, Jesus asked them,

42 “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose family will he come from?”
They answered, “He will be a son of King David.”t

43 Jesus replied, “How then could the Spirit lead David to call the Messiah his Lord? David said,

44  t ‘The Lord said to my Lord:
Sit at my right sidet
until I make your enemies
into a footstool for you.’
45 If David called the Messiah his Lord, how can the Messiah be a son of King David?” 46 No one was able to give Jesus an answer, and from that day on, no one dared ask him any more questions.
