متی 22

1 عیسیٰ نے ایک بار پھر تمثیلوں میں اُن سے بات کی۔2 ”آسمان کی بادشاہی ایک بادشاہ سے مطابقت رکھتی ہے جس نے اپنے بیٹے کی شادی کی ضیافت کی تیاریاں کروائیں۔3 جب ضیافت کا وقت آ گیا تو اُس نے اپنے نوکروں کو مہمانوں کے پاس یہ اطلاع دینے کے لئے بھیجا کہ وہ آئیں، لیکن وہ آنا نہیں چاہتے تھے۔4 پھر اُس نے مزید کچھ نوکروں کو بھیج کر کہا، ’مہمانوں کو بتانا کہ مَیں نے اپنا کھانا تیار کر رکھا ہے۔ بَیلوں اور موٹے تازے بچھڑوں کو ذبح کیا گیا ہے،5 سب کچھ تیار ہے۔ آئیں، ضیافت میں شریک ہو جائیں۔‘ لیکن مہمانوں نے پروا نہ کی بلکہ اپنے مختلف کاموں میں لگ گئے۔ ایک اپنے کھیت کو چلا گیا، دوسرا اپنے کاروبار میں مصروف ہو گیا۔6 باقیوں نے بادشاہ کے نوکروں کو پکڑ لیا اور اُن سے بُرا سلوک کر کے اُنہیں قتل کیا۔7 بادشاہ بڑے طیش میں آ گیا۔ اُس نے اپنی فوج کو بھیج کر قاتلوں کو تباہ کر دیا اور اُن کا شہر جلا دیا۔8 پھر اُس نے اپنے نوکروں سے کہا، ’شادی کی ضیافت تو تیار ہے، لیکن جن مہمانوں کو مَیں نے دعوت دی تھی وہ آنے کے لائق نہیں تھے۔9 اب وہاں جاؤ جہاں سڑکیں شہر سے نکلتی ہیں اور جس سے بھی ملاقات ہو جائے اُسے ضیافت کے لئے دعوت دے دینا۔‘10 چنانچہ نوکر سڑکوں پر نکلے اور جس سے بھی ملاقات ہوئی اُسے لائے، خواہ وہ اچھا تھا یا بُرا۔ یوں شادی ہال مہمانوں سے بھر گیا۔11 لیکن جب بادشاہ مہمانوں سے ملنے کے لئے اندر آیا تو اُسے ایک آدمی نظر آیا جس نے شادی کے لئے مناسب کپڑے نہیں پہنے تھے۔12 بادشاہ نے پوچھا، ’دوست، تم شادی کا لباس پہنے بغیر اندر کس طرح آئے؟‘ وہ آدمی کوئی جواب نہ دے سکا۔13 پھر بادشاہ نے اپنے درباریوں کو حکم دیا، ’اِس کے ہاتھ اور پاؤں باندھ کر اِسے باہر تاریکی میں پھینک دو، وہاں جہاں لوگ روتے اور دانت پیستے رہیں گے۔‘14 کیونکہ بُلائے ہوئے تو بہت ہیں، لیکن چنے ہوئے کم۔“15 پھر فریسیوں نے جا کر آپس میں مشورہ کیا کہ ہم عیسیٰ کو کس طرح ایسی بات کرنے کے لئے اُبھاریں جس سے اُسے پکڑا جا سکے۔16 اِس مقصد کے تحت اُنہوں نے اپنے شاگردوں کو ہیرودیس کے پیروکاروں سمیت عیسیٰ کے پاس بھیجا۔ اُنہوں نے کہا، ”اُستاد، ہم جانتے ہیں کہ آپ سچے ہیں اور دیانت داری سے اللہ کی راہ کی تعلیم دیتے ہیں۔ آپ کسی کی پروا نہیں کرتے کیونکہ آپ غیرجانب دار ہیں۔17 اب ہمیں اپنی رائے بتائیں۔ کیا رومی شہنشاہ کو ٹیکس دینا جائز ہے یا ناجائز؟“18 لیکن عیسیٰ نے اُن کی بُری نیت پہچان لی۔ اُس نے کہا، ”ریاکارو، تم مجھے کیوں پھنسانا چاہتے ہو؟19 مجھے وہ سکہ دکھاؤ جو ٹیکس ادا کرنے کے لئے استعمال ہوتا ہے۔“ وہ اُس کے پاس چاندی کا ایک رومی سکہ لے آئے20 تو اُس نے پوچھا، ”کس کی صورت اور نام اِس پر کندہ ہے؟“21 اُنہوں نے جواب دیا، ”شہنشاہ کا۔“ اُس نے کہا، ”تو جو شہنشاہ کا ہے شہنشاہ کو دو اور جو اللہ کا ہے اللہ کو۔“22 اُس کا یہ جواب سن کر وہ ہکا بکا رہ گئے اور اُسے چھوڑ کر چلے گئے۔23 اُس دن صدوقی عیسیٰ کے پاس آئے۔ صدوقی نہیں مانتے کہ روزِ قیامت مُردے جی اُٹھیں گے۔ اُنہوں نے عیسیٰ سے ایک سوال کیا۔24 ”اُستاد، موسیٰ نے ہمیں حکم دیا کہ اگر کوئی شادی شدہ آدمی بےاولاد مر جائے اور اُس کا بھائی ہو تو بھائی کا فرض ہے کہ وہ بیوہ سے شادی کر کے اپنے بھائی کے لئے اولاد پیدا کرے۔25 اب فرض کریں کہ ہمارے درمیان سات بھائی تھے۔ پہلے نے شادی کی، لیکن بےاولاد فوت ہوا۔ اِس لئے دوسرے بھائی نے بیوہ سے شادی کی۔26 لیکن وہ بھی بےاولاد مر گیا۔ پھر تیسرے بھائی نے اُس سے شادی کی۔ یہ سلسلہ ساتویں بھائی تک جاری رہا۔ یکے بعد دیگرے ہر بھائی بیوہ سے شادی کرنے کے بعد مر گیا۔27 آخر میں بیوہ بھی فوت ہو گئی۔28 اب بتائیں کہ قیامت کے دن وہ کس کی بیوی ہو گی؟ کیونکہ سات کے سات بھائیوں نے اُس سے شادی کی تھی۔“29 عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”تم اِس لئے غلطی پر ہو کہ نہ تم کلامِ مُقدّس سے واقف ہو، نہ اللہ کی قدرت سے۔30 کیونکہ قیامت کے دن لوگ نہ شادی کریں گے نہ اُن کی شادی کرائی جائے گی بلکہ وہ آسمان پر فرشتوں کی مانند ہوں گے۔31 رہی یہ بات کہ مُردے جی اُٹھیں گے، کیا تم نے وہ بات نہیں پڑھی جو اللہ نے تم سے کہی؟32 اُس نے فرمایا، ’مَیں ابراہیم کا خدا، اسحاق کا خدا اور یعقوب کا خدا ہوں،‘ حالانکہ اُس وقت تینوں کافی عرصے سے مر چکے تھے۔ اِس کا مطلب ہے کہ یہ حقیقت میں زندہ ہیں۔ کیونکہ اللہ مُردوں کا نہیں بلکہ زندوں کا خدا ہے۔“33 یہ سن کر ہجوم اُس کی تعلیم کے باعث حیران رہ گیا۔34 جب فریسیوں نے سنا کہ عیسیٰ نے صدوقیوں کو لاجواب کر دیا ہے تو وہ جمع ہوئے۔35 اُن میں سے ایک نے جو شریعت کا عالم تھا اُسے پھنسانے کے لئے سوال کیا،36 ”اُستاد، شریعت میں سب سے بڑا حکم کون سا ہے؟“37 عیسیٰ نے جواب دیا، ”’رب اپنے خدا سے اپنے پورے دل، اپنی پوری جان اور اپنے پورے ذہن سے پیار کرنا۔‘38 یہ اوّل اور سب سے بڑا حکم ہے۔39 اور دوسرا حکم اِس کے برابر یہ ہے، ’اپنے پڑوسی سے ویسی محبت رکھنا جیسی تُو اپنے آپ سے رکھتا ہے۔‘40 تمام شریعت اور نبیوں کی تعلیمات اِن دو احکام پر مبنی ہیں۔“41 جب فریسی اکٹھے تھے تو عیسیٰ نے اُن سے پوچھا،42 ”تمہارا مسیح کے بارے میں کیا خیال ہے؟ وہ کس کا فرزند ہے؟“ اُنہوں نے جواب دیا، ”وہ داؤد کا فرزند ہے۔“43 عیسیٰ نے کہا، ”تو پھر داؤد روح القدس کی معرفت اُسے کس طرح ’رب‘ کہتا ہے؟ کیونکہ وہ فرماتا ہے،44 ’رب نے میرے رب سے کہا، میرے دہنے ہاتھ بیٹھ، جب تک مَیں تیرے دشمنوں کو تیرے پاؤں کے نیچے نہ کر دوں۔‘45 داؤد تو خود مسیح کو رب کہتا ہے۔ تو پھر وہ کس طرح اُس کا فرزند ہو سکتا ہے؟“46 کوئی بھی جواب نہ دے سکا، اور اُس دن سے کسی نے بھی اُس سے مزید کچھ پوچھنے کی جرٲت نہ کی۔

Matthew 22

1 And Jesus answered and spake again in parables unto them, saying,2 The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,3 and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the marriage feast: and they would not come.4 Again he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them that are bidden, Behold, I have made ready my dinner; my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come to the marriage feast.5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;6 and the rest laid hold on his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.7 But the king was wroth; and he sent his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they that were bidden were not worthy.9 Go ye therefore unto the partings of the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage feast.10 And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests.11 But when the king came in to behold the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment:12 and he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless.13 Then the king said to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and cast him out into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.14 For many are called, but few chosen.

15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might ensnare him in his talk.16 And they send to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, and carest not for any one: for thou regardest not the person of men.17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why make ye trial of me, ye hypocrites?19 Show me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a denarius.20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?21 They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.22 And when they heard it, they marvelled, and left him, and went away.

23 On that day there came to him Sadducees, they that say that there is no resurrection: and they asked him,24 saying, Teacher, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first married and deceased, and having no seed left his wife unto his brother;26 in like manner the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.27 And after them all, the woman died.28 In the resurrection therefore whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.29 But Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as angels in heaven.31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.33 And when the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

34 But the Pharisees, when they heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, gathered themselves together.35 And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, trying him:36 Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?37 And he said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.38 This is the great and first commandment.39 And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.40 On these two commandments the whole law hangeth, and the prophets.

41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,42 saying, What think ye of the Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,

44 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I put thine enemies underneath thy feet?

45 If David then calleth him Lord, how is he his son?46 And no one was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
