二三

1 　イエスは群衆と弟子たちに、お語りになりました。　2 「ユダヤ人の指導者やパリサイ人たちが、あまりたくさんの戒めを作り上げているので、あなたがたは、彼らをまるでモーセみたいだと思っているでしょう。　3 もちろん、彼らの言うことは、みな実行すべきです。言っていることはいいのですから。　だが、やっていることだけは絶対にまねてはいけません。　彼らは言うとおりに実行していないからです。　　4 とうてい実行できないような命令を与えておいて、自分では、それを守ろうともしないのです。
5 　彼らのやることと言ったら、人に見せびらかすことばかりです。幅広の経札（聖書のことばを納めた小箱で、祈りの時に身につける）を腕や額につけたり、着物のふさ（神のおきてを思い出すために着物のすそにつけるように命じられていた）を長くしたりして、あたかも聖者であるかのように、ふるまいます。　6 また、宴会で上座に着いたり、会堂の特別席に座ったりするのが何より好きです。　7 街頭でていねいなあいさつを受けたり、『ラビ』とか『先生』とか呼ばれることも大好きです。　8 だがあなたがたは、だれからもそう呼ばれないようにしなさい。　なぜなら、神だけがあなたがたのラビ〔教師〕であって、あなたがたはみな同じ兄弟だからです。　9 またこの地上で、だれをも『父』と呼ばないようにしなさい。　天におられる神だけが『父』と呼ばれるにふさわしい方だからです。　10 それに、『先生』と呼ばれてもいけません。　あなたがたの先生は、ただキリスト一人です。
11 　人に仕える人が最も偉大な者です。　ですから、まず仕える者になりなさい。　12 われこそはと思っている人たちは、必ず失望し、高慢の鼻をへし折られてしまいます。　一方、自分から身を低くする者は、かえって高く上げられるのです。
13 　いまわしい人たちよ。　パリサイ人、ユダヤ教の指導者たち。　あなたがたは偽善者です。　天国に入ろうとしている人たちのじゃまをし、自分でも入ろうとはしないのです。　14 町の大通りで、見栄のための長い祈りをし、聖者のようなふりをしながら、そのくせ未亡人の家を食いものにしています。　偽善者たち。　15 そうです。　あなたがたのような偽善者こそいまわしいものです。　たった一人の改宗者（ユダヤ教に転向した人）をつくるために、どんな遠くへでもせっせと出かけて行くが、結局その人を、自分より倍も悪い地獄の子にしてしまうからです。　16 自分の目が見えないくせに人の道案内をしようとする者たち。　いまわしい人たちよ。　あなたがたの規則では、『神殿にかけて』と誓った誓いは何でもないが、『神殿の黄金にかけて』と誓った誓いは果たさなければならないそうですね。　17 愚かな人たち。　黄金と、黄金を神聖なものにする神殿と、いったいどちらが大切なのですか。　18 また、『祭壇にかけて』と誓った誓いは破ってもいいが、『祭壇の上の供え物にかけて』と誓った誓いは果たさなければならないそうですね。　19 愚かな人たち。　祭壇の上の供え物と、その供え物を神聖なものにする祭壇自体と、いったいどちらが大切なのですか。　20 『祭壇にかけて』と誓うことは、祭壇の上のすべてのものにかけて誓うことにもなるのだし、　21 『神殿にかけて』と誓うなら、神殿と、そこにおられる神にかけて誓うことになるのです。　22 また、『天にかけて』と誓うなら、神の御座と神ご自身にかけて誓うことになるのです。
23 　いまわしい人たちよ。　パリサイ人、ユダヤ教の指導者たち。　あなたがたは偽善者です。　自分の畑でとれる、はっかの葉の最後の一枚に至るまで、実にきちょうめんに十分の一をささげているのに、正義と思いやり、信仰というほんとうに大切なことは無視しています。　もちろん、十分の一献金はしなければなりません。　しかし、もっと大切なことをなおざりにしては、何にもなりません。　24 自分の目が見えないくせに、他人の道案内をしようとする者たち。　あなたがたは、ぶよはこして取り出しながら、らくだは丸ごと飲み込んでいるのです。
25 　いまわしい人たちよ。　パリサイ人、ユダヤ教の指導者たち。　あなたがたは偽善者です。　杯の外側はきれいにみがき上げるが、内側はゆすりと貪欲で汚れきっています。　26 目の見えないパリサイ人たち。　まず杯の内側をきれいにしなさい。　そうすれば、杯全体がきれいになるのです。
27 　いまわしい人たちよ。　パリサイ人、ユダヤ教の指導者たち。　あなたがたは美しく塗り立てた墓のようです。　外側がどんなにきれいでも、中は死人の骨や汚らわしいもの、腐ったものでいっぱいなのです。　28 自分を聖人らしく見せようとしているが、その信仰深そうな外見とは裏腹に、心の中はあらゆる偽善と罪で汚れているのです。
29 　いまわしい人たちよ。　パリサイ人、ユダヤ教の指導者たち。　あなたがたは偽善者です。　先祖が殺した預言者の記念碑を建てたり、先祖の手にかかった、神を敬う者たちの墓前に花を飾ったりして、　30 『私たちには、ご先祖様がしたような、こんな恐ろしいまねは、とてもできません』と言っています。
31 　そんなことを言うこと自体、自分があの悪人たちの子孫だということを、自分で証言するようなものです。　32 あなたがたは先祖の悪業を継いで、その目盛りの不足分を満たしているのです。　33 蛇よ。まむしの子らよ。　あなたがたは、地獄の刑罰を逃れることはできません。
34 　わたしがあなたがたのところに、預言者や、聖霊に満たされた人、神のことばを書き記す力を与えられた人たちを遣わすと、あなたがたは彼らを十字架につけて殺したり、会堂でむち打ったり、町から町へと追い回して迫害したりします。
35-36 こうして、正義の人アベルから、神殿と祭壇との間で殺されたバラキヤの子ザカリヤに至るまで、神を敬う人たちが流したすべての血について、あなたがたは有罪とされます。　そうです。　何世紀にもわたって積み重ねられてきたこれらの報いは、今この時代の者たちの上に一度に降りかかってくるのです。
37 　ああ、エルサレム、エルサレム。　預言者たちを殺し、神がこの都のために遣わされたすべての人を石で打ち殺す町よ。　わたしは、めんどりがひなを翼の下に集めるように、何度、あなたの子らを集めようとしたことでしょう。　それなのに、あなたがたはそれを拒んでしまったのです。　38 ですから、あなたがたの家は荒れ果てたまま見捨てられます。　39 はっきり言っておきます。　神から遣わされた方を喜んで迎えるようになるまで、あなたがたは二度とわたしを見ることはありません。」この世の終わり

Matthew 23

1 Then spake Jesus to the multitudes and to his disciples,2 saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses seat:3 all things therefore whatsoever they bid you, these do and observe: but do not ye after their works; for they say, and do not.4 Yea, they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with their finger.5 But all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,6 and love the chief place at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,7 and the salutations in the marketplaces, and to be called of men, Rabbi.8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your teacher, and all ye are brethren.9 And call no man your father on the earth: for one is your Father, even he who is in heaven.10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your master, even the Christ.11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled; and whosoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.

13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye shut the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye enter not in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering in to enter.14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, even while for a pretence ye make long prayers: therefore ye shall receive greater condemnation.

15 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he is become so, ye make him twofold more a son of hell than yourselves.

16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, that say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor.17 Ye fools and blind: for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that hath sanctified the gold?18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it, he is a debtor.19 Ye blind: for which is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?20 He therefore that sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon.21 And he that sweareth by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein.22 And he that sweareth by the heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye tithe mint and anise and cummin, and have left undone the weightier matters of the law, justice, and mercy, and faith: but these ye ought to have done, and not to have left the other undone.24 Ye blind guides, that strain out the gnat, and swallow the camel!

25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full from extortion and excess.26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the platter, that the outside thereof may become clean also.

27 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but inwardly ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

29 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and garnish the tombs of the righteous,30 and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we should not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.31 Wherefore ye witness to yourselves, that ye are sons of them that slew the prophets.32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.33 Ye serpents, ye offspring of vipers, how shall ye escape the judgment of hell?34 Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: some of them shall ye kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:35 that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous unto the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the sanctuary and the altar.36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
