การทรงประณามพวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริสี
(มก.12:38-40; ลก.11:37-54; 20:45-47)
1 เวลานั้น พระเยซูตรัสกับฝูงชนและบรรดาสาวกของพระองค์ว่า 2 “พวกธรรมาจารย์กับพวกฟาริสีนั่งบนที่นั่งของโมเสส 3 เพราะฉะนั้น ทุกสิ่งที่เขาทั้งหลายสั่งสอนพวกท่านนั้น จงถือและประพฤติตามยกเว้นการประพฤติของพวกเขาอย่าทำตามเลย เพราะพวกเขาไม่ได้ทำในสิ่งที่พวกเขาสอน 4 เพราะพวกเขาเอาห่อของหนักวางบนบ่าของมนุษย์ แต่ส่วนพวกเขาเองไม่ยอมแม้แต่จะใช้สักนิ้วเดียวไปยก 5 การกระทำของพวกเขาล้วนทำเพื่ออวดคนอื่นt พวกเขาทำกลักพระธรรมtขนาดใหญ่และสวมเสื้อที่มีพู่ห้อยtยาว 6 พวกเขาชอบที่นั่งอันมีเกียรติในงานเลี้ยงและที่นั่งโดดเด่นในธรรมศาลา 7 ชอบรับการคำนับที่กลางตลาดและชอบให้คนอื่นเรียกว่า ‘ท่านอาจารย์’ 8 ท่านทั้งหลายอย่าให้ใครเรียกว่า ‘ท่านอาจารย์’ เพราะพวกท่านมีพระอาจารย์เพียงผู้เดียว และพวกท่านทุกคนเป็นพี่น้องกัน 9 และอย่าให้เกียรติใครในโลกว่าเป็นพระบิดาของพวกท่าน เพราะพวกท่านมีพระบิดาเพียงผู้เดียว คือผู้ที่สถิตในสวรรค์ 10 อย่าให้ใครเรียกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ‘บรมครู’ เพราะว่าบรมครูของพวกท่านมีเพียงผู้เดียวคือพระคริสต์ 11 คนที่เป็นใหญ่ในพวกท่านย่อมต้องปรนนิบัติท่านt 12 ใครยกตัวขึ้น จะต้องถูกทำให้ต่ำลง ใครถ่อมตัวลง จะได้รับการยกขึ้นt
13 “วิบัติแก่พวกเจ้า พวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริสี คนหน้าซื่อใจคด พวกเจ้าปิดประตูแผ่นดินสวรรค์ไว้จากมนุษย์เพราะพวกเจ้าเองไม่เข้าไป และเมื่อคนอื่นจะเข้าไป พวกเจ้าก็ไม่ยอม [ 14 วิบัติแก่พวกเจ้าพวกธรรมาจารย์ และพวกฟาริสี คนหน้าซื่อใจคด เพราะพวกเจ้าริบเอาบ้านของหญิงม่าย และแสร้งอธิษฐานเสียยืดยาว เพราะฉะนั้นพวกเจ้าจะต้องมีโทษมากยิ่งขึ้น]t
15 “วิบัติแก่พวกเจ้า พวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริสี คนหน้าซื่อใจคด เพราะพวกเจ้าไปทั่วทั้งทางบกและทางทะเล เพื่อจะได้สักคนหนึ่งเข้าจารีต แต่เมื่อได้แล้ว ก็ทำให้เขาตกนรกยิ่งกว่าพวกเจ้าเองถึงสองเท่า
16 “วิบัติแก่พวกเจ้า คนนำทางที่ตาบอด พวกเจ้าสอนว่า ‘ใครที่จะสาบานโดยอ้างพระวิหาร คำสาบานนั้นไม่ผูกมัด แต่ใครสาบานโดยอ้างทองคำของพระวิหาร คนนั้นจะต้องทำตามคำสาบาน’ 17 โอ เจ้าพวกคนโง่เขลาและตาบอด สิ่งไหนจะสำคัญกว่า ทองคำหรือพระวิหารที่ทำให้ทองคำนั้นศักดิ์สิทธิ์? 18 และพวกเจ้ายังสอนว่า ‘ใครจะสาบานโดยอ้างแท่นบูชา คำสาบานนั้นไม่ผูกมัด แต่ใครสาบานโดยอ้างเครื่องถวายบนแท่นบูชา คนนั้นต้องทำตามคำสาบาน’ 19 เจ้าพวกคนตาบอด สิ่งไหนจะสำคัญกว่ากัน เครื่องถวาย หรือแท่นบูชาที่ทำให้เครื่องถวายนั้นศักดิ์สิทธิ์? 20 เพราะฉะนั้นใครที่สาบานโดยอ้างแท่นบูชา ก็สาบานโดยอ้างแท่นบูชาและสิ่งสารพัดซึ่งอยู่บนแท่นบูชานั้นด้วย 21 ใครสาบานโดยอ้างพระวิหาร ก็สาบานโดยอ้างพระวิหารและพระองค์ผู้สถิตในพระวิหารนั้นด้วย 22 ใครสาบานโดยอ้างสวรรค์ ก็สาบานโดยอ้างพระที่นั่งของพระเจ้าt และพระองค์ผู้ประทับบนพระที่นั่งนั้นด้วย
23 “วิบัติแก่พวกเจ้า พวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริสี คนหน้าซื่อใจคด เพราะพวกเจ้าถวายทศางค์tที่เป็นสะระแหน่ ลูกผักชี และยี่หร่าt แต่เรื่องที่สำคัญกว่าในธรรมบัญญัติ คือความยุติธรรม ความเมตตาและความเชื่อนั้นพวกเจ้ากลับละเลย การถวายทศางค์นั้นเจ้าก็ควรปฏิบัติ แต่ไม่ควรละเลยเรื่องที่สำคัญนั้นด้วย 24 โอ เจ้าพวกคนนำทางตาบอด เจ้ากรองลูกน้ำออกแต่กลืนตัวอูฐเข้าไป
25 “วิบัติแก่เจ้า พวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริสี คนหน้าซื่อใจคด เพราะพวกเจ้าขัดชำระถ้วยชามแต่ภายนอก ส่วนภายในถ้วยชามนั้นเต็มด้วยการโจรกรรมและการมัวเมากิเลส 26 โอ พวกฟาริสีตาบอด จงชำระถ้วยชามภายในเสียก่อน เพื่อข้างนอกจะได้สะอาดด้วย
27 “วิบัติแก่เจ้า พวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริสี คนหน้าซื่อใจคด เพราะว่าพวกเจ้าเป็นเหมือนอุโมงค์ฝังศพที่ฉาบด้วยปูนขาวt ข้างนอกดูงดงาม แต่ข้างในเต็มไปด้วยกระดูกคนตายและทุกอย่างที่โสโครก 28 พวกเจ้าก็เป็นอย่างนั้นแหละ ภายนอกดูเหมือนว่าเป็นคนชอบธรรม แต่ภายในเต็มไปด้วยความหน้าซื่อใจคดและความอธรรม
29 “วิบัติแก่เจ้า พวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริสี คนหน้าซื่อใจคด เพราะพวกเจ้าก่อสร้างอุโมงค์ฝังศพของบรรดาผู้เผยพระวจนะ และตกแต่งอุโมงค์ฝังศพของคนชอบธรรมทั้งหลาย 30 แล้วกล่าวว่า ‘ถ้าเราอยู่ในสมัยของบรรพบุรุษ เราจะไม่มีส่วนร่วมกับพวกเขา ในการทำให้โลหิตของผู้เผยพระวจนะทั้งหลายตก’ 31 ถ้าเป็นเช่นนั้นเจ้าก็เป็นพยานปรักปรำตนเองว่า พวกเจ้าเป็นบุตรของพวกที่ฆ่าผู้เผยพระวจนะเหล่านั้น 32 เจ้าก็จงทำอย่างที่บรรพบุรุษทำนั้นให้ครบถ้วนเถิด 33 เจ้าพวกงู พวกชาติงูร้ายt เจ้าจะพ้นโทษนรกได้อย่างไร? 34 เพราะเหตุนี้ เราจึงใช้บรรดาผู้เผยพระวจนะ บรรดานักปราชญ์ และธรรมาจารย์ทั้งหลายไปหาพวกเจ้า เจ้าทั้งหลายก็จะฆ่าเสียบ้าง ตรึงเสียที่กางเขนบ้าง เฆี่ยนตีในธรรมศาลาของพวกเจ้าบ้าง ข่มเหงไล่ออกจากเมืองนี้ไปเมืองโน้นบ้าง 35 เพื่อจะให้โลหิตของคนชอบธรรมทั้งหมดที่ตกในแผ่นดินโลกนั้นตกบนตัวพวกเจ้า ตั้งแต่โลหิตของอาเบลtคนชอบธรรม จนถึงโลหิตของเศคาริยาห์tบุตรเบเรคียาห์ที่เจ้าฆ่าเสียในที่ระหว่างพระวิหารกับแท่นบูชานั้น 36 เราบอกความจริงกับพวกเจ้าว่า สิ่งทั้งหมดนี้จะตกกับคนในยุคนี้
การทรงคร่ำครวญถึงกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม
(ลก.13:31-35)
37 “โอ เยรูซาเล็ม เยรูซาเล็ม เมืองที่ฆ่าบรรดาผู้เผยพระวจนะ และเอาหินขว้างพวกที่ถูกส่งให้มาหาเจ้าถึงตาย บ่อยครั้งที่เราปรารถนาจะรวบรวมลูกๆ ของเจ้าไว้ เหมือนแม่ไก่กกลูกอยู่ใต้ปีกของมัน แต่เจ้าไม่ยอม 38 นี่แน่ะ นิเวศของเจ้าจะถูกทอดทิ้งให้ร้างเปล่า 39 เพราะว่าเราบอกเจ้าทั้งหลายว่า ตั้งแต่นี้ไปเจ้าจะไม่เห็นเราอีก จนกว่าพวกเจ้าจะกล่าวว่า ‘ขอให้ท่านผู้เสด็จมาในพระนามขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าทรงพระเจริญ’ t”
MATTHEW 23
Jesus Condemns the Pharisees //and the Teachers of //the Law of Moses
(Mark 12.38-40; Luke 11.37-52; 20.45-47)
1 Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples:
2 The Pharisees and the teachers of the Law are experts in the Law of Moses.
3 So obey everything they teach you, but don't do as they do. After all, they say one thing and do something else.
4 They pile heavy burdens on people's shoulders and won't lift a finger to help. 5 t Everything they do is just to show off in front of others. They even make a big show of wearing Scripture verses on their foreheads and arms, and they wear big tasselst for everyone to see. 6 They love the best seats at banquets and the front seats in the synagogues.
7 And when they are in the market, they like to have people greet them as their teachers.
8 But none of you should be called a teacher. You have only one teacher, and all of you are like brothers and sisters. 9 Don't call anyone on earth your father. All of you have the same Father in heaven. 10 None of you should be called the leader. The Messiah is your only leader. 11 t Whoever is the greatest should be the servant of the others.
12 t If you put yourself above others, you will be put down. But if you humble yourself, you will be honored.
13-14 You Pharisees and teachers of the Law of Moses are in for trouble! You're nothing but show-offs. You lock people out of the kingdom of heaven. You won't go in yourselves, and you keep others from going in.t
15 You Pharisees and teachers of the Law of Moses are in for trouble! You're nothing but show-offs. You travel over land and sea to win one follower. And when you have done so, you make that person twice as fit for hell as you are.
16 You are in for trouble! You are supposed to lead others, but you are blind. You teach that it doesn't matter if a person swears by the temple. But you say it does matter if someone swears by the gold in the temple.
17 You blind fools! Which is greater, the gold or the temple that makes the gold sacred?
18 You also teach that it doesn't matter if a person swears by the altar. But you say it does matter if someone swears by the gift on the altar. 19 Are you blind? Which is more important, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? 20 Anyone who swears by the altar also swears by everything on it. 21 And anyone who swears by the temple also swears by God, who lives there.
22 t To swear by heaven is the same as swearing by God's throne and by the one who sits on that throne.
23 t You Pharisees and teachers are show-offs, and you're in for trouble! You give God a tenth of the spices from your garden, such as mint, dill, and cumin. Yet you neglect the more important matters of the Law, such as justice, mercy, and faithfulness. These are the important things you should have done, though you should not have left the others undone either.
24 You blind leaders! You strain out a small fly but swallow a camel.
25 You Pharisees and teachers are show-offs, and you're in for trouble! You wash the outside of your cups and dishes, while inside there is nothing but greed and selfishness.
26 You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of a cup, and then the outside will also be clean.
27 t You Pharisees and teachers are in for trouble! You're nothing but show-offs. You're like tombs that have been whitewashed.t On the outside they are beautiful, but inside they are full of bones and filth.
28 That's what you are like. Outside you look good, but inside you are evil and only pretend to be good.
29 You Pharisees and teachers are nothing but show-offs, and you're in for trouble! You build monuments for the prophets and decorate the tombs of good people. 30 And you claim you would not have taken part with your ancestors in killing the prophets. 31 But you prove you really are the relatives of the ones who killed the prophets. 32 So keep on doing everything they did.
33 t You are nothing but snakes and the children of snakes! How can you escape going to hell?
34 I will send to you prophets and wise people and experts in the Law of Moses. You will kill them or nail them to a cross or beat them in your synagogues or chase them from town to town. 35 t That's why you will be held guilty for the murder of every good person, beginning with the good man Abel. This also includes Barachiah's son Zechariah, t the man you murdered between the temple and the altar.
36 I can promise that you people living today will be punished for all these things!Jesus Loves Jerusalem
(Luke 13.34,35)
37 Jerusalem, Jerusalem! Your people have killed the prophets and have stoned the messengers who were sent to you. I have often wanted to gather your people, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. But you wouldn't let me. 38 t And now your temple will be deserted.
39 t You won't see me again until you say,
“Blessed is the one who comes
in the name of the Lord.”
