Parábola de las diez muchachas

1 “El reino de los cielos podrá entonces compararse a diez muchachas que, en una boda, tomaron sus lámparas de aceite y salieron a recibir al novio.t 2 Cinco de ellas eran descuidadas y cinco previsoras. 3 Las descuidadas llevaron sus lámparas, pero no tomaron aceite de repuesto; 4 en cambio, las previsoras llevaron frascos de aceite además de las lámparas. 5 Como el novio tardaba en llegar, les entró sueño a todas y se durmieron. 6 Cerca de medianoche se oyó gritar: ‘¡Ya viene el novio! ¡Salid a recibirle!’ 7 Entonces todas las muchachas se levantaron y comenzaron a preparar sus lámparas, 8 y las descuidadas dijeron a las previsoras: ‘Dadnos un poco de vuestro aceite, porque nuestras lámparas van a apagarse.’ 9 Pero las muchachas previsoras contestaron: ‘No, porque entonces no alcanzará para nosotras ni para vosotras. Más vale que vayáis a donde lo venden y compréis para vosotras mismas.’ 10 Pero mientras las cinco muchachas iban a comprar el aceite, llegó el novio; y las que habían sido previsoras entraron con él a la fiesta de la boda,t y se cerró la puerta. 11 Llegaron después las otras muchachas, diciendo: ‘¡Señor, señor, ábrenos!’

12 Pero él les contestó: ‘Os aseguro que no sé quiénes sois.’t

13 “Permaneced despiertos –añadió Jesús–, porque no sabéis el día ni la hora.t

Parábola del dinero

(Lc 19.11-27)

18 Pero el que recibió mil, fue y escondió el dinero de su señor en un hoyo que cavó en la tierra.
19 “Al cabo de mucho tiempo regresó el señor de aquellos criados y se puso a hacer cuentas con ellos. 20 Llegó primero el que había recibido las cinco mil monedas, y entregando a su señor otras cinco mil le dijo: ‘Señor, tú me entregaste cinco mil, y aquí tienes otras cinco mil que he ganado.’ 21 El señor le dijo: ‘Muy bien, eres un criado bueno y fiel. Y como has sido fiel en lo poco, yo te pondré al cargo de mucho más.t Entra y alégrate conmigo.’ 22 Después llegó el criado que había recibido las dos mil monedas, y dijo: ‘Señor, tú me entregaste dos mil, y aquí tienes otras dos mil que he ganado.’

23 El señor le dijo: ‘Muy bien, eres un criado bueno y fiel. Y como has sido fiel en lo poco, yo te pondré al cargo de mucho más. Entra y alégrate conmigo.’
24 “Por último llegó el criado que había recibido mil monedas y dijo a su amo: ‘Señor, yo sabía que eres un hombre duro, que cosechas donde no sembraste y recoges donde no esparciste. 25 Por eso tuve miedo; así que fui y escondí tu dinero en la tierra. Aquí tienes lo que es tuyo.’ 26 El amo le contestó: ‘Tú eres un criado malo y holgazán. Puesto que sabías que yo cosecho donde no sembré y recojo donde no esparcí, 27 debías haber llevado mi dinero al banco, y yo, a mi regreso, lo habría recibido junto con los intereses.’ 28 Y dijo a los que allí estaban: ‘Quitadle a este las mil monedas y dádselas al que tiene diez mil. 29 Porque al que tiene, se le dará más y tendrá de sobra; pero al que no tiene, hasta lo que tiene se le quitará.t

30 Y a este criado inútil arrojadlo fuera, a la oscuridad. Allí llorará y le rechinarán los dientes.’t

El juicio sobre las naciones

40 El Rey les contestará: ‘Os aseguro que todo lo que hicisteis por uno de estos hermanos míos más humildes, por mí mismo lo hicisteis.’t
41 “Luego dirá el Rey a los de su izquierda: ‘Apartaos de mí, malditos: id al fuego eterno preparado para el diablo y sus ángeles.t 42 Porque tuve hambre y no me disteis de comer, tuve sed y no me disteis de beber, 43 fui forastero y no me recibisteis, anduve sin ropa y no me vestisteis, caí enfermo y estuve en la cárcel, y no me visitasteis.’ 44 Entonces ellos preguntarán: ‘Señor, ¿cuándo te vimos con hambre o con sed, o forastero o falto de ropa, o enfermo o en la cárcel, y no te ayudamos?’ 45 El Rey les contestará: ‘Os aseguro que todo lo que no hicisteis por una de estas personas más humildes, tampoco por mí lo hicisteis.’t

46 Estos irán al castigo eterno, y los justos, a la vida eterna.”t

Matthew 25

The Parable of the Ten Virgins

1 “At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.2 Fivet of the virginst were foolish, and five were wise.3 Whent the foolish ones took their lamps, they did not take extrat olive oilt with them.4 But the wise ones took flasks of olive oil with their lamps.5 Whent the bridegroom was delayed a long time, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.6 But at midnight there was a shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is here! Come out to meet him.’s7 Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps.8 Thet foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’9 ‘No,’ they replied.t ‘There won’t be enough for you and for us. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’10 But while they had gone to buy it, the bridegroom arrived, and those who were ready went inside with him to the wedding banquet. Thent the door was shut.11 Later,t the other virgins came too, saying, ‘Lord, lord! Let us in!’t12 But he replied,t ‘I tell you the truth,t I do not know you!’

13 Therefore stay alert, because you do not know the day or the hour.s

The Parable of the Talents

14 “For it is like a man going on a journey, who summoned his slavest and entrusted his property to them.15 Tot one he gave five talents,s to another two, and to another one, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.16 The one who had received five talents went off right away and put his money to workt and gained five more.17 In the same way, the one who had two gained two more.18 But the one who had received one talent went out and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money in it.19 Aftert a long time, the master of those slaves came and settled his accounts with them.20 Thet one who had received the five talents came and brought five more, saying, ‘Sir,t you entrusted me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.’21 His master answered,t ‘Well done, good and faithful slave! You have been faithful in a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master.’22 Thet one with the two talents also came and said, ‘Sir, you entrusted two talents to me. See, I have gained two more.’23 His master answered, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave! You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things. Enter into the joy of your master.’24 Then the one who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Sir, I knew that you were a hard man, harvesting where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed,25 sot I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.’26 But his master answered,t ‘Evil and lazy slave! So you knew that I harvest where I didn’t sow and gather where I didn’t scatter?27 Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers,t and on my return I would have received my money back with interest!s28 Therefore take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten.t29 For the one who has will be given more,ts and he will have more than enough. But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken from him.s

30 And throw that worthless slave into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

The Judgment

31 “Whent the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne.32 Allt the nations will be assembled before him, and he will separate people one from another like a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.33 Het will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.34 Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,36 I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.’37 Then the righteous will answer him,t ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?38 Whent did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or naked and clothe you?39 Whent did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

40 And the king will answer them,t ‘I tell you the truth,t just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisterst of mine, you did it for me.’
41 “Then he will sayt to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels!42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink.43 I was a stranger and you did not receive me as a guest, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’44 Then they too will answer,t ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not give you whatever you needed?’45 Then he will answer them,t ‘I tell you the truth,t just as you did not do it for one of the least of these, you did not do it for me.’

46 And these will depart into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
