マタイによる福音書 25

二五

1 　天国は、ランプを持って花婿を迎えに出た、十人の娘〔花嫁の付き添い〕の話でも説明できます。　2-4 そのうちの五人は賢く、ランプの油を十分用意していましたが、残りの五人は愚かで、うっかり忘れていました。
5 　さて、花婿の到着が遅れたので、みな横になり寝入ってしまいました。　6 真夜中ごろ、ようやく、『花婿のお着きーっ。　迎えに出なさーい』と叫ぶ声がします。
7-8 娘たちはとび起きると、めいめい自分のランプを整えました。　その時、油を用意していなかった五人の娘は、ランプが今にも消えそうなので、ほかの五人に油を分けてほしいと頼みました。
9 　『ごめんなさい。　でも、分けてあげるほどはないの。　それよりもお店に行って、買ってきたほうがいいんじゃないかしら。』
10 　こう言われて、あわてて買いに行っているうちに、花婿が到着しました。　用意のできていた娘たちは、花婿といっしょに披露宴に行き、戸は閉じられました。
11 　そのあとで、例の五人が帰って来て、『ご主人様ーっ、戸を、戸を開けてくださーい』と叫びました。
12 　ところが主人は、『さっさと行ってしまえ。　もう遅すぎる！』と冷たく答えました。
13 　こんなことにならないために、目を覚まして、いつでもわたしを迎える準備をしていなさい。　わたしが来るその日、その時が、いつかわからないのですから......。
14 　天国はまた、他国へ出かけたある人の例で説明できます。　彼は出発前に、使用人たちを呼び、『さあ、元手をやるから、これで留守中に商売をしろ』と、それぞれにお金を預けました。
15 　めいめいの能力に応じて、一人には百五十万円、ほかの一人には六十万円、もう一人には三十万円というふうに。　こうして、彼は旅に出ました。　16 百五十万円受け取った男は、それを元手にさっそく商売を始め、じきに百五十万円もうけました。　17 六十万円受け取った男もすぐ仕事を始め、六十万円もうけました。
18 　ところが、三十万円受け取った男は、地面に穴を掘ると、その中にお金を隠してしまいました。
19 　だいぶ時がたち、主人が帰って来ました。　すぐに使用人たちが呼ばれ、清算が始まりました。　20 百五十万円預かった男は三百万円を差し出しました。
21 　主人は彼の働きをほめました。　『おまえはわずかなお金を忠実に使ったな。　今度はもっと大きな責任のある仕事をやろう。　私といっしょに喜んでくれ。』
22 　次に、六十万円受け取った男が来て、報告しました。　『ご主人様。　ごらんください。　あの六十万円を倍にしました。』
23 　『よくやった。　おまえはやり手で、しかも忠実なやつだ。　わずかなお金を忠実に使ったから、次はもっとたくさんの仕事をやろう。』主人はこの男もほめてやりました。
24-25 最後に、三十万円受け取った男が進み出て、言いました。　『ご主人様。　あなた様はたいそうひどい方でございます。　私は前々から、それを存じ上げておりましたから、せっかくお金をもうけても、あなた様が横取りなさるのではないかと、こわくてしかたがなかったのです。　それで、あなた様のお金を土の中に隠しておきました。　はい、これがそのお金でございます。』
26 　これを聞いて、主人は答えて言いました。　『なんという悪いやつだ！　なまけ者めが！　私がおまえのもうけを取り上げるのが、わかっていたというのか。　27 だったら、せめて、そのお金を銀行にでも預金しておけばよかったのだ。　そうすりゃあ、利息がついたじゃないか。　28 さあ、こいつのお金を取り上げて、三百万円持っている者にやってしまえ。　29 与えられたものを上手に使う者にはもっと多くのものが与えられて、ますます豊かになる。　だが不忠実な者は、与えられたわずかなものさえ取り上げられてしまうのだ。　30 役立たずは、外の暗やみへ追い出してしまえ。　そこで、泣きわめくなり、歯ぎしりしてくやしがるなりするがいい。』
31 　けれども、メシヤ（救い主）のわたしが、その栄光の輝きのうちに、すべての御使いと共にやって来る時、わたしは栄光の王座につきます。　32 そして、すべての国民がわたしの前に集められます。　その時わたしは、羊飼いが羊とやぎとを選別するように、人々を二組に分け、　33 羊はわたしの右側に、やぎを左側に置きます。
34 　王として、わたしはまず、右側の人たちに言います。　『わたしの父に祝福された人たちよ。　さあ、この世の初めから、あなたがたのために用意されていた御国に入りなさい。　35 あなたがたは、わたしが空腹だった時に食べ物を与え、のどが渇いていた時に水を飲ませ、旅人だった時に家に招いてくれたからです。　36 それにまた、わたしが裸の時に服を与え、病気の時や、牢獄にいた時には見舞ってもくれました。』
37 　すると、これらの正しい人たちは答えるでしょう。　『王様。　私たちがいったいいつ、あなた様に食べ物を差し上げたり、水を飲ませたりしたでしょうか。　38 また、いったいいつ、あなた様をお泊めしたり、服を差し上げたり、　39 お見舞いにうかがったりしたでしょうか。』
40 　『あなたがたが、だれでも困っている人に親切にしたのは、わたしにしたのと同じなのですよ。』
41 　次に、左側にいる人たちに言います。　『のろわれた者たちよ。　さあ、悪魔とその手下の悪霊どものために用意されている、永遠に燃え続ける火の中に入りなさい！　42 あなたがたは、わたしが空腹だった時にも食べ物をくれず、のどが渇いていた時にも水一滴恵もうとはせず、　43 旅人だった時にも、もてなそうとはしませんでした。　またわたしが裸の時にも着物一枚くれるわけでなく、病気の時にも、牢獄にいた時にも知らん顔をしていたではありませんか。』
44 　すると彼らは、こんなふうに抗議するでしょう。　『王様。　私たちがいったいいつ、あなた様が空腹だったり、のどが渇いていたり、旅人だったり、裸だったり、病気だったり、牢獄におられたりするのを見て、お世話しなかったとおっしゃるのですか。』
45 　そこで、わたしはこう言います。　『あなたがたが、これらの一番小さい者たちを助けようとしなかったのは、わたしを助けなかったのと同じです。』
46 　こうして、この人たちは永遠の刑罰を受け、一方、正しい人たちには永遠のいのちが与えられるのです。」ユダの裏切り

Matthew 25

1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.2 And five of them were foolish, and five were wise.3 For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them:4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.5 Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.6 But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him.7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are going out.9 But the wise answered, saying, Peradventure there will not be enough for us and you: go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.10 And while they went away to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage feast: and the door was shut.11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.13 Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour.

14 For it is as when a man, going into another country, called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his several ability; and he went on his journey.16 Straightway he that received the five talents went and traded with them, and made other five talents.17 In like manner he also that received the two gained other two.18 But he that received the one went away and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.19 Now after a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and maketh a reckoning with them.20 And he that received the five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: lo, I have gained other five talents.21 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord.22 And he also that received the two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: lo, I have gained other two talents.23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy lord.24 And he also that had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou didst not sow, and gathering where thou didst not scatter;25 and I was afraid, and went away and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, thou hast thine own.26 But his lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I did not scatter;27 thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back mine own with interest.28 Take ye away therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him that hath the ten talents.29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken away.30 And cast ye out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

31 But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory:32 and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats;33 and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:35 for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;36 naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me.37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or athirst, and gave thee drink?38 And when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?39 And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, even these least, ye did it unto me.41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels:42 for I was hungry, and ye did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink;43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.44 Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me.46 And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life.
