مَثَل ده باکره

1 «در آن روز، پادشاهی آسمان همچون ده باکره خواهد بود که چراغهای خود را برداشته، به استقبال داماد بیرون رفتند.2 پنج تن از آنان دانا و پنج تن دیگر نادان بودند.3 باکره‌های نادان چراغهای خود را برداشتند، امّا روغن با خود نبردند.4 ولی دانایان، با چراغهای خود ظرفهای پر از روغن نیز بردند.5 چون آمدن داماد به درازا کشید، چشمان همه سنگین شده، به خواب رفتند.6 در نیمه‌های شب، صدای بلندی به گوش رسید که می‌گفت: ”داماد می‌آید! به پیشواز او بروید!“7 آنگاه همۀ باکره‌ها بیدار شدند و چراغهای خود را آماده کردند.8 نادانان به دانایان گفتند: ”قدری از روغن خود به ما بدهید، چون چراغهای ما رو به خاموشی است.“9 امّا دانایان پاسخ دادند: ”نخواهیم داد، زیرا روغن برای همۀ ما کافی نخواهد بود. بروید و از فروشندگان برای خود بخرید.“10 امّا هنگامی که آنان برای خرید روغن رفته بودند، داماد سر رسید و باکره‌هایی که آماده بودند، با او به ضیافت عروسی درآمدند و در بسته شد.11 پس از آن، باکره‌های دیگر نیز رسیدند و گفتند: ”سرور ما، سرور ما، در بر ما بگشا!“12 امّا او به آنها گفت: ”آمین، به شما می‌گویم، من شما را نمی‌شناسم.“13 پس بیدار باشید، چون از آن روز و ساعت خبر ندارید.

مَثَل قنطارها

14 «همچنین پادشاهی آسمان مانند مردی خواهد بود که قصد سفر داشت. او خادمان خود را فراخواند و اموال خویش به آنان سپرد؛15 به فراخور قابلیت هر خادم، به یکی پنج قنطارt داد، به یکی دو و به دیگری یک قنطار. آنگاه راهی سفر شد.16 مردی که پنج قنطار گرفته بود، بی‌درنگ با آن به تجارت پرداخت و پنج قنطار دیگر سود کرد.17 بر همین منوال، آن که دو قنطار داشت، دو قنطار دیگر نیز به‌دست آورد.18 امّا آن که یک قنطار گرفته بود، رفت و زمین را کَند و پول ارباب خود را پنهان کرد.19 «پس از زمانی دراز، ارباب آن خادمان بازگشت و از آنان حساب خواست.20 مردی که پنج قنطار دریافت کرده بود، پنج قنطار دیگر را نیز با خود آورد و گفت: ”سرورا، به من پنج قنطار سپردی، این هم پنج قنطار دیگر که سود کرده‌ام.“21 سَروَرَش پاسخ داد: ”آفرین، ای خادم نیکو و امین! در چیزهای کم امین بودی، پس تو را بر چیزهای بسیار خواهم گماشت. بیا و در شادی ارباب خود شریک شو!“22 خادمی که دو قنطار گرفته بود نیز پیش آمد و گفت: ”به من دو قنطار سپردی، این هم دو قنطار دیگر که سود کرده‌ام.“23 سرورش پاسخ داد: ”آفرین، ای خادم نیکو و امین! در چیزهای کم امین بودی، پس تو را بر چیزهای بسیار خواهم گماشت. بیا و در شادی ارباب خود شریک شو!“24 آنگاه خادمی که یک قنطار گرفته بود، نزدیک آمد و گفت: ”چون می‌دانستم مردی تندخو هستی، از جایی که نکاشته‌ای می‌دِرَوی و از جایی که نپاشیده‌ای جمع می‌کنی،25 پس ترسیدم و پول تو را در زمین پنهان کردم. این هم پول تو!“26 اما سرورش پاسخ داد: ”ای خادم بدکاره و تنبل! تو که می‌دانستی از جایی که نکاشته‌ام، می‌دِرَوَم و از جایی که نپاشیده‌ام، جمع می‌کنم،27 پس چرا پول مرا به صرّافان ندادی تا چون از سفر بازگردم آن را با سود پس گیرم؟28 آن قنطار را از او بگیرید و به آن که ده قنطار دارد بدهید.29 زیرا به هر که دارد، بیشتر داده خواهد شد تا به فراوانی داشته باشد؛ امّا آن که ندارد، همان که دارد نیز از او گرفته خواهد شد.30 این خادم بی‌فایده را به تاریکیِ بیرون افکنید، جایی که گریه و دندان بر هم ساییدن خواهد بود.“

روز داوری

31 «هنگامی که پسر انسان با شکوه و جلال خود به همراه همۀ فرشتگان بیاید، بر تخت پرشکوه خود خواهد نشست32 و همۀ قومها در برابر او حاضر خواهند شد و او همچون شبانی که گوسفندها را از بزها جدا می‌کند، مردمان را به دو گروه تقسیم خواهد کرد؛33 گوسفندان را در سمت راست و بزها را در سمت چپ خود قرار خواهد داد.34 سپس به آنان که در سمت راست او هستند خواهد گفت: ”بیایید، ای برکت یافتگان از پدر من، و پادشاهی‌ای را به میراث یابید که از آغاز جهان برای شما آماده شده بود.35 زیرا گرسنه بودم، به من خوراک دادید؛ تشنه بودم، به من آب دادید؛ غریب بودم، به من جا دادید.36 عریان بودم، مرا پوشانیدید؛ مریض بودم، عیادتم کردید؛ در زندان بودم، به دیدارم آمدید.“37 آنگاه پارسایان پاسخ خواهند داد: ”سرور ما، کِی تو را گرسنه دیدیم و به تو خوراک دادیم، یا تشنه دیدیم و به تو آب دادیم؟38 کِی تو را غریب دیدیم و به تو جا دادیم و یا عریان، و تو را پوشانیدیم؟39 کِی تو را مریض و یا در زندان دیدیم و به دیدارت آمدیم؟“40 پادشاه در پاسخ خواهد گفت: ”آمین، به شما می‌گویم، آنچه برای یکی از کوچکترین برادران من کردید، در واقع برای من کردید.“41 آنگاه به آنان که در سمت چپ او هستند خواهد گفت: ”ای ملعونان، از من دور شوید و به آتش جاودانی روید که برای ابلیس و فرشتگان او آماده شده است،42 زیرا گرسنه بودم، خوراکم ندادید؛ تشنه بودم، آبم ندادید؛43 غریب بودم، جایم ندادید؛ عریان بودم، مرا نپوشانیدید؛ مریض و زندانی بودم، به دیدارم نیامدید.“44 آنان پاسخ خواهند داد: ”سرور ما، کی تو را گرسنه و تشنه و غریب و عریان و مریض و در زندان دیدیم و خدمتت نکردیم؟“45 در جواب خواهد گفت: ”آمین، به شما می‌گویم، آنچه برای یکی از این کوچکترینها نکردید، در واقع برای من نکردید.“46 پس آنان به مجازات جاودان داخل خواهند شد، امّا پارسایان به حیات جاودان.»

MATTHEW 25

A Story about Ten Young Women

1  t The kingdom of heaven is like what happened one night when ten young women took their oil lamps and went to a wedding to meet the groom.t 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps, but no extra oil.

4 The ones who were wise took along extra oil for their lamps.
5 The groom was late arriving, and the young women became drowsy and fell asleep.

6 Then in the middle of the night someone shouted, “Here's the groom! Come to meet him!”
7 When the women got up and started getting their lamps ready,

8 the foolish ones said to the others, “Let us have some of your oil! Our lamps are going out.”

9 Those who were wise answered, “There's not enough oil for all of us! Go and buy some for yourselves.”
10 While the foolish ones were on their way to get some oil, the groom arrived. The five who were ready went into the wedding, and the doors were closed.

11 t Later the others returned and shouted, “Sir, sir! Open the door for us!”

12 But the groom replied, “I don't even know you!”

13 So, my disciples, always be ready! You don't know the day or the time when all this will happen.

A Story //about Three Servants

(Luke 19.11-27)

15 The man knew what each servant could do. So he handed 5,000 coins to the first servant, 2,000 to the second, and 1,000 to the third. Then he left the country.
16 As soon as the man had gone, the servant with the 5,000 coins used them to earn 5,000 more. 17 The servant who had 2,000 coins did the same with his money and earned 2,000 more.

18 But the servant with 1,000 coins dug a hole and hid his master's money in the ground.
19 Some time later the master of those servants returned. He called them in and asked what they had done with his money.

20 The servant who had been given 5,000 coins brought them in with the 5,000 that he had earned. He said, “Sir, you gave me 5,000 coins, and I have earned 5,000 more.”

21 “Wonderful!” his master replied. “You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!”

22 Next, the servant who had been given 2,000 coins came in and said, “Sir, you gave me 2,000 coins, and I have earned 2,000 more.”

23 “Wonderful!” his master replied. “You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!”
24 The servant who had been given 1,000 coins then came in and said, “Sir, I know that you are hard to work for. You harvest what you don't plant and gather crops where you haven't scattered seed.

25 I was frightened and went out and hid your money in the ground. Here is every single coin!”
26 The master of the servant told him, “You are lazy and good-for-nothing! You know I harvest what I don't plant and gather crops where I haven't scattered seed.

27 You could have at least put my money in the bank, so I could have earned interest on it.”
28 Then the master said, “Now your money will be taken away and given to the servant with 10,000 coins! 29 t Everyone who has something will be given more, and they will have more than enough. But everything will be taken from those who don't have anything.

30 t You are a worthless servant, and you will be thrown out into the dark where people will cry and grit their teeth in pain.”

The Final Judgment

32 The people of all nations will be brought before him, and he will separate them, as shepherds separate their sheep from their goats.
33 He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 Then the king will say to those on his right, “My father has blessed you! Come and receive the kingdom that was prepared for you before the world was created. 35 t When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed me,

36 and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me.”
37 Then the ones who pleased the Lord will ask, “When did we give you something to eat or drink? 38 When did we welcome you as a stranger or give you clothes to wear

39 or visit you while you were sick or in jail?”

40 The king will answer, “Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me.”
41 Then the king will say to those on his left, “Get away from me! You are under God's curse. Go into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! 42 I was hungry, but you did not give me anything to eat, and I was thirsty, but you did not give me anything to drink.

43 I was a stranger, but you did not welcome me, and I was naked, but you did not give me any clothes to wear. I was sick and in jail, but you did not take care of me.”

44 Then the people will ask, “Lord, when did we fail to help you when you were hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in jail?”

45 The king will say to them, “Whenever you failed to help any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you failed to do it for me.”
46  t Then Jesus said, “Those people will be punished forever. But the ones who pleased God will have eternal life.”
