Matei 25

Pilda celor zece fecioare

1 Atunci Împărăția Cerurilor va fi asemănată cu zece fecioare, care și-au luat lămpile și au ieșit în întâmpinarea mirelui.2 Cinci dintre ele erau nesăbuite, iar cinci erau înțelepte.3 Cele nesăbuite nu și-au luat cu ele și untdelemn atunci când și-au luat lămpile,4 dar cele înțelepte, împreună cu lămpile, și-au luat și untdelemn în vase.5 Mirele întârzia, astfel că ele au ațipit toate și au adormit.

6 La miezul nopții a răsunat un strigăt: „Iată mirele! Ieșiți-i în întâmpinare!“

7 Atunci toate fecioarele acelea s-au sculat și și-au pregătit lămpile.

8 Cele nesăbuite le-au zis celor înțelepte:
– Dați-ne și nouă din untdelemnul vostru, pentru că ni se sting lămpile!

9 Dar cele înțelepte au răspuns:
– Nu, ca nu cumva să nu ne ajungă nici nouă, nici vouă! Duceți-vă mai bine la cei ce vând untdelemn și cumpărați-vă!

10 În timp ce ele se duceau să cumpere untdelemn , a venit mirele. Cele ce erau gata au intrat la nuntă împreună cu el, iar ușa a fost închisă.

11 Mai târziu au venit și celelalte fecioare și au zis:
– Doamne, Doamne, deschide-ne!

12 Dar el le-a răspuns:
– Adevărat vă spun că nu vă cunosc!
13 Așadar, vegheați! Căci nu știți nici ziua, nici ora (când vine Fiul Omului)t.

Pilda talanților

14 Căci va fi ca atunci când un om, urmând să plece într-o călătorie, și-a chemat sclavii și le-a încredințat averile lui.15 Unuia i-a dat cinci talanțit, altuia – doi, iar altuia – unul, fiecăruia după puterea lui; apoi a plecat. Imediat,16 cel ce primise cinci talanți s-a dus și i-a investit și a câștigat alți cinci.17 Tot așa, cel ce primise doi a câștigat și el alți doi.18 Dar cel ce primise unul s-a dus și a săpat o groapă în pământ și a ascuns acolo banii stăpânului său.

19 După mult timp, stăpânul acelor sclavi a venit și a început să-și pună în ordine socotelile cu ei.

20 Cel ce primise cinci talanți a venit și a adus încă cinci talanți, zicând:
– Stăpâne, mi-ai încredințat cinci talanți; iată, am mai câștigat încă cinci!

21 Stăpânul i-a zis:
– Bine, sclav bun și credincios! Pentru că ai fost credincios peste puține lucruri, te voi pune responsabil peste multe! Intră în bucuria stăpânului tău!

22 A venit apoi cel ce primise doi talanți și a zis:
– Stăpâne, mi-ai încredințat doi talanți; iată, am mai câștigat doi!

23 Stăpânul i-a zis:
– Bine, sclav bun și credincios! Pentru că ai fost credincios peste puține lucruri, te voi pune responsabil peste multe! Intră în bucuria stăpânului tău!

24 A venit și cel ce primise un talant și a zis:
– Stăpâne, am știut că ești un om aspru, care seceri de unde n-ai semănat și aduni de unde n-ai împrăștiat,25 așa că mi-a fost teamă și m-am dus și ți-am ascuns talantul în pământ. Iată aici talantul tău!

26 Stăpânul i-a răspuns:
– Sclav rău și leneș! Ai știut că secer de unde n-am semănat și că adun de unde n-am împrăștiat?27 Atunci trebuia ca tu să-mi fi pus banii la zarafi, pentru ca, la întoarcere, să primesc cu dobândă ceea ce era al meu!

28 Așadar, luați-i talantul și dați-i-l celui ce are zece talanți!29 Căci oricui are, i se va da mai mult și va avea din abundență, dar de la cel ce n-are se va lua chiar și ce are!30 Iar pe sclavul acela nefolositor aruncați-l în întunericul de afară! Acolo va fi plânsul și scrâșnirea dinților!

Judecata finală

31 Când Fiul Omului va veni în slava Sa, împreună cu toți îngerii, atunci El Se va așeza pe tronul slavei Sale32 și toate neamurile vor fi adunate înaintea Lui. El îi va despărți pe unii de alții așa cum desparte păstorul oile de capre33 și va pune oile să stea la dreapta Lui, iar caprele, la stânga.

34 Apoi Împăratul le va zice celor din dreapta Lui:
– Veniți, binecuvântații Tatălui Meu; moșteniți Împărăția care a fost pregătită pentru voi de la întemeierea lumii!35 Căci Mi-a fost foame și Mi-ați dat să mănânc, Mi-a fost sete și Mi-ați dat să beau, am fost străin și M-ați primit între voi,36 am fost gol și M-ați îmbrăcat, am fost bolnav și M-ați vizitat, am fost în închisoare și ați venit pe la Mine.

37 Atunci cei drepți Îl vor întreba:
– Doamne, când Te-am văzut noi flămând și Ți-am dat să mănânci, sau însetat și Ți-am dat să bei?38 Când Te-am văzut noi străin și Te-am primit între noi, sau gol și Te-am îmbrăcat?39 Și când Te-am văzut noi bolnav sau în închisoare și am venit pe la Tine?!

40 Iar Împăratul le va răspunde:
– Adevărat vă spun că, ori de câte ori ați făcut așa unora dintre cei mai neînsemnați dintre acești frați ai Mei, Mie Mi-ați făcut!

41 Apoi le va zice celor din stânga:
– Plecați de la Mine, blestemaților, în focul cel veșnic, care a fost pregătit pentru diavolul și pentru îngerii lui!42 Căci Mi-a fost foame și nu Mi-ați dat să mănânc, Mi-a fost sete și nu Mi-ați dat să beau,43 am fost străin și nu M-ați primit între voi, am fost gol și nu M-ați îmbrăcat, am fost bolnav și în închisoare și nu m-ați vizitat!

44 Atunci și ei Îl vor întreba:
– Doamne, când Te-am văzut noi flămând sau însetat, sau străin, sau gol, sau bolnav, sau în închisoare și nu Ți-am slujit?!

45 Atunci El le va răspunde:
– Adevărat vă spun că, ori de câte ori n-ați făcut așa unora dintre cei mai neînsemnați dintre aceștia, Mie nu Mi-ați făcut!

46 Și aceștia vor merge în pedeapsa veșnică, iar cei drepți vor merge în viața veșnică.

MATTHEW 25

A Story about Ten Young Women

1  t The kingdom of heaven is like what happened one night when ten young women took their oil lamps and went to a wedding to meet the groom.t 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps, but no extra oil.

4 The ones who were wise took along extra oil for their lamps.
5 The groom was late arriving, and the young women became drowsy and fell asleep.

6 Then in the middle of the night someone shouted, “Here's the groom! Come to meet him!”
7 When the women got up and started getting their lamps ready,

8 the foolish ones said to the others, “Let us have some of your oil! Our lamps are going out.”

9 Those who were wise answered, “There's not enough oil for all of us! Go and buy some for yourselves.”
10 While the foolish ones were on their way to get some oil, the groom arrived. The five who were ready went into the wedding, and the doors were closed.

11 t Later the others returned and shouted, “Sir, sir! Open the door for us!”

12 But the groom replied, “I don't even know you!”

13 So, my disciples, always be ready! You don't know the day or the time when all this will happen.

A Story //about Three Servants

(Luke 19.11-27)

15 The man knew what each servant could do. So he handed 5,000 coins to the first servant, 2,000 to the second, and 1,000 to the third. Then he left the country.
16 As soon as the man had gone, the servant with the 5,000 coins used them to earn 5,000 more. 17 The servant who had 2,000 coins did the same with his money and earned 2,000 more.

18 But the servant with 1,000 coins dug a hole and hid his master's money in the ground.
19 Some time later the master of those servants returned. He called them in and asked what they had done with his money.

20 The servant who had been given 5,000 coins brought them in with the 5,000 that he had earned. He said, “Sir, you gave me 5,000 coins, and I have earned 5,000 more.”

21 “Wonderful!” his master replied. “You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!”

22 Next, the servant who had been given 2,000 coins came in and said, “Sir, you gave me 2,000 coins, and I have earned 2,000 more.”

23 “Wonderful!” his master replied. “You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!”
24 The servant who had been given 1,000 coins then came in and said, “Sir, I know that you are hard to work for. You harvest what you don't plant and gather crops where you haven't scattered seed.

25 I was frightened and went out and hid your money in the ground. Here is every single coin!”
26 The master of the servant told him, “You are lazy and good-for-nothing! You know I harvest what I don't plant and gather crops where I haven't scattered seed.

27 You could have at least put my money in the bank, so I could have earned interest on it.”
28 Then the master said, “Now your money will be taken away and given to the servant with 10,000 coins! 29 t Everyone who has something will be given more, and they will have more than enough. But everything will be taken from those who don't have anything.

30 t You are a worthless servant, and you will be thrown out into the dark where people will cry and grit their teeth in pain.”

The Final Judgment

32 The people of all nations will be brought before him, and he will separate them, as shepherds separate their sheep from their goats.
33 He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 Then the king will say to those on his right, “My father has blessed you! Come and receive the kingdom that was prepared for you before the world was created. 35 t When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed me,

36 and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me.”
37 Then the ones who pleased the Lord will ask, “When did we give you something to eat or drink? 38 When did we welcome you as a stranger or give you clothes to wear

39 or visit you while you were sick or in jail?”

40 The king will answer, “Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me.”
41 Then the king will say to those on his left, “Get away from me! You are under God's curse. Go into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! 42 I was hungry, but you did not give me anything to eat, and I was thirsty, but you did not give me anything to drink.

43 I was a stranger, but you did not welcome me, and I was naked, but you did not give me any clothes to wear. I was sick and in jail, but you did not take care of me.”

44 Then the people will ask, “Lord, when did we fail to help you when you were hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in jail?”

45 The king will say to them, “Whenever you failed to help any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you failed to do it for me.”
46  t Then Jesus said, “Those people will be punished forever. But the ones who pleased God will have eternal life.”
