Parábola de las diez damas de honor

1 »Entonces, el reino del cielo será como diez damas de honort que tomaron sus lámparas y salieron para encontrarse con el novio. 2 Cinco de ellas eran necias y cinco sabias. 3 Las cinco que eran necias no llevaron suficiente aceite de oliva para sus lámparas, 4 pero las otras cinco fueron tan sabias que llevaron aceite extra. 5 Como el novio se demoró, a todas les dio sueño y se durmieron.

6 »A la medianoche, se despertaron ante el grito de: “¡Miren, ya viene el novio! ¡Salgan a recibirlo!”.

7 »Todas las damas de honor se levantaron y prepararon sus lámparas. 8 Entonces las cinco necias les pidieron a las otras: “Por favor, dennos un poco de aceite, porque nuestras lámparas se están apagando”.

9 »Sin embargo, las sabias contestaron: “No tenemos suficiente para todas. Vayan a una tienda y compren un poco para ustedes”.

10 »Pero durante el lapso en que se fueron a comprar aceite, llegó el novio. Entonces las que estaban listas entraron con él a la fiesta de bodas y se cerró la puerta con llave. 11 Más tarde, cuando regresaron las otras cinco damas de honor, se quedaron afuera, y llamaron: “¡Señor, Señor! ¡Ábrenos la puerta!”.

12 »él les respondió: “Créanme, ¡no las conozco!”.

13 »¡Así que ustedes también deben estar alerta! Porque no saben el día ni la hora de mi regreso.

Parábola de los tres siervos

14 »También el reino del cielo puede ilustrarse mediante la historia de un hombre que tenía que emprender un largo viaje. Reunió a sus siervos y les confió su dinero mientras estuviera ausente. 15 Lo dividió en proporción a las capacidades de cada uno. Al primero le dio cinco bolsas de plata;t al segundo, dos bolsas de plata; al último, una bolsa de plata. Luego se fue de viaje.

16 »El siervo que recibió las cinco bolsas de plata comenzó a invertir el dinero y ganó cinco más. 17 El que tenía las dos bolsas de plata también salió a trabajar y ganó dos más. 18 Pero el siervo que recibió una sola bolsa de plata cavó un hoyo en la tierra y allí escondió el dinero de su amo.

19 »Después de mucho tiempo, el amo regresó de su viaje y los llamó para que rindieran cuentas de cómo habían usado su dinero. 20 El siervo al cual le había confiado las cinco bolsas de plata se presentó con cinco más y dijo: “Amo, usted me dio cinco bolsas de plata para invertir, y he ganado cinco más”.

21 »El amo lo llenó de elogios. “Bien hecho, mi buen siervo fiel. Has sido fiel en administrar esta pequeña cantidad, así que ahora te daré muchas más responsabilidades. ¡Ven a celebrar conmigo!”t.

22 »Se presentó el siervo que había recibido las dos bolsas de plata y dijo: “Amo, usted me dio dos bolsas de plata para invertir, y he ganado dos más”.

23 »El amo dijo: “Bien hecho, mi buen siervo fiel. Has sido fiel en administrar esta pequeña cantidad, así que ahora te daré muchas más responsabilidades. ¡Ven a celebrar conmigo!”.

24 »Por último se presentó el siervo que tenía una sola bolsa de plata y dijo: “Amo, yo sabía que usted era un hombre severo, que cosecha lo que no sembró y recoge las cosechas que no cultivó. 25 Tenía miedo de perder su dinero, así que lo escondí en la tierra. Mire, aquí está su dinero de vuelta”.

26 »Pero el amo le respondió: “¡Siervo perverso y perezoso! Si sabías que cosechaba lo que no sembré y recogía lo que no cultivé, 27 ¿por qué no depositaste mi dinero en el banco? Al menos hubiera podido obtener algún interés de él”.

28 »Entonces ordenó: “Quítenle el dinero a este siervo y dénselo al que tiene las diez bolsas de plata. 29 A los que usan bien lo que se les da, se les dará aún más y tendrán en abundancia; pero a los que no hacen nada se les quitará aun lo poco que tienen. 30 Ahora bien, arrojen a este siervo inútil a la oscuridad de afuera, donde habrá llanto y rechinar de dientes”.

El juicio final

31 »Cuando el Hijo del Hombret venga en su gloria acompañado por todos los ángeles, entonces se sentará sobre su trono glorioso. 32 Todas las nacionest se reunirán en su presencia, y él separará a la gente como un pastor separa a las ovejas de las cabras. 33 Pondrá las ovejas a su derecha y las cabras a su izquierda.

34 »Entonces el Rey dirá a los que estén a su derecha: “Vengan, ustedes, que son benditos de mi Padre, hereden el reino preparado para ustedes desde la creación del mundo. 35 Pues tuve hambre, y me alimentaron. Tuve sed, y me dieron de beber. Fui extranjero, y me invitaron a su hogar. 36 Estuve desnudo, y me dieron ropa. Estuve enfermo, y me cuidaron. Estuve en prisión, y me visitaron”.

37 »Entonces esas personas justas responderán: “Señor, ¿en qué momento te vimos con hambre y te alimentamos, o con sed y te dimos algo de beber, o 38 te vimos como extranjero y te brindamos hospitalidad, o te vimos desnudo y te dimos ropa, 39 o te vimos enfermo o en prisión, y te visitamos?”.

40 »Y el Rey dirá: “Les digo la verdad, cuando hicieron alguna de estas cosas al más insignificante de éstos, mis hermanos, ¡me lo hicieron a mí!”.

41 »Luego el Rey se dirigirá a los de la izquierda y dirá: “¡Fuera de aquí, ustedes, los malditos, al fuego eterno preparado para el diablo y sus demonios!t 42 Pues tuve hambre, y no me alimentaron. Tuve sed, y no me dieron de beber. 43 Fui extranjero, y no me invitaron a su hogar. Estuve desnudo, y no me dieron ropa. Estuve enfermo y en prisión, y no me visitaron”.

44 »Entonces ellos responderán: “Señor, ¿en qué momento te vimos con hambre o con sed o como extranjero o desnudo o enfermo o en prisión y no te ayudamos?”.

45 »Y él responderá: “Les digo la verdad, cuando se negaron a ayudar al más insignificante de éstos, mis hermanos, se negaron a ayudarme a mí”.

46 »Y ellos irán al castigo eterno, pero los justos entrarán en la vida eterna.

MATTHEW 25

A Story about Ten Young Women

1  t The kingdom of heaven is like what happened one night when ten young women took their oil lamps and went to a wedding to meet the groom.t 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps, but no extra oil.

4 The ones who were wise took along extra oil for their lamps.
5 The groom was late arriving, and the young women became drowsy and fell asleep.

6 Then in the middle of the night someone shouted, “Here's the groom! Come to meet him!”
7 When the women got up and started getting their lamps ready,

8 the foolish ones said to the others, “Let us have some of your oil! Our lamps are going out.”

9 Those who were wise answered, “There's not enough oil for all of us! Go and buy some for yourselves.”
10 While the foolish ones were on their way to get some oil, the groom arrived. The five who were ready went into the wedding, and the doors were closed.

11 t Later the others returned and shouted, “Sir, sir! Open the door for us!”

12 But the groom replied, “I don't even know you!”

13 So, my disciples, always be ready! You don't know the day or the time when all this will happen.

A Story //about Three Servants

(Luke 19.11-27)

15 The man knew what each servant could do. So he handed 5,000 coins to the first servant, 2,000 to the second, and 1,000 to the third. Then he left the country.
16 As soon as the man had gone, the servant with the 5,000 coins used them to earn 5,000 more. 17 The servant who had 2,000 coins did the same with his money and earned 2,000 more.

18 But the servant with 1,000 coins dug a hole and hid his master's money in the ground.
19 Some time later the master of those servants returned. He called them in and asked what they had done with his money.

20 The servant who had been given 5,000 coins brought them in with the 5,000 that he had earned. He said, “Sir, you gave me 5,000 coins, and I have earned 5,000 more.”

21 “Wonderful!” his master replied. “You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!”

22 Next, the servant who had been given 2,000 coins came in and said, “Sir, you gave me 2,000 coins, and I have earned 2,000 more.”

23 “Wonderful!” his master replied. “You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!”
24 The servant who had been given 1,000 coins then came in and said, “Sir, I know that you are hard to work for. You harvest what you don't plant and gather crops where you haven't scattered seed.

25 I was frightened and went out and hid your money in the ground. Here is every single coin!”
26 The master of the servant told him, “You are lazy and good-for-nothing! You know I harvest what I don't plant and gather crops where I haven't scattered seed.

27 You could have at least put my money in the bank, so I could have earned interest on it.”
28 Then the master said, “Now your money will be taken away and given to the servant with 10,000 coins! 29 t Everyone who has something will be given more, and they will have more than enough. But everything will be taken from those who don't have anything.

30 t You are a worthless servant, and you will be thrown out into the dark where people will cry and grit their teeth in pain.”

The Final Judgment

32 The people of all nations will be brought before him, and he will separate them, as shepherds separate their sheep from their goats.
33 He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 Then the king will say to those on his right, “My father has blessed you! Come and receive the kingdom that was prepared for you before the world was created. 35 t When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed me,

36 and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me.”
37 Then the ones who pleased the Lord will ask, “When did we give you something to eat or drink? 38 When did we welcome you as a stranger or give you clothes to wear

39 or visit you while you were sick or in jail?”

40 The king will answer, “Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me.”
41 Then the king will say to those on his left, “Get away from me! You are under God's curse. Go into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! 42 I was hungry, but you did not give me anything to eat, and I was thirsty, but you did not give me anything to drink.

43 I was a stranger, but you did not welcome me, and I was naked, but you did not give me any clothes to wear. I was sick and in jail, but you did not take care of me.”

44 Then the people will ask, “Lord, when did we fail to help you when you were hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in jail?”

45 The king will say to them, “Whenever you failed to help any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you failed to do it for me.”
46  t Then Jesus said, “Those people will be punished forever. But the ones who pleased God will have eternal life.”
