Matúš 25

1 Vtedy sa nebeské kráľovstvo bude podobať desiatim pannám, ktoré si vzali lampy a vyšli naproti ženíchovi.2 Päť z nich bolo nerozumných a päť múdrych.3 Nerozumné si vzali lampy, ale olej si so sebou nevzali.4 Múdre si vzali s lampami aj olej do nádob.5 Keď ženích neprichádzal, všetkým sa začalo driemať a zaspali.6 O polnoci sa strhol krik: »Ženích prichádza, vyjdite mu v ústrety!«7 Všetky panny sa prebudili a pripravovali si lampy.8 Tu nerozumné panny povedali múdrym: »Dajte nám zo svojho oleja, lebo naše lampy hasnú.«9 Ale múdre odvetili: »Aby azda nebolo ani nám, ani vám málo, choďte radšej k predavačom a kúpte si!«10 No kým išli kupovať olej, prišiel ženích a tie, čo boli pripravené, vošli s ním na svadbu a dvere sa zatvorili.11 Napokon prišli aj ostatné panny a vraveli: »Pane, Pane, otvor nám!«12 Ale on im povedal: »Veru, hovorím vám: Nepoznám vás.«13 Preto bdejte, lebo neviete ani dňa, ani hodiny.14 Bude to tak, ako keď sa istý človek chystal na cestu. Zavolal si sluhov a zveril im svoj majetok:15 jednému dal päť talentov, druhému dva a ďalšiemu jeden, každému podľa jeho schopností, a odcestoval.16 Ten, čo dostal päť talentov, hneď šiel, obchodoval s nimi a získal ďalších päť.17 Podobne aj ten, čo dostal dva, získal ďalšie dva.18 Ale ten, čo dostal jeden, šiel, vykopal jamu a peniaze svojho pána ukryl.19 Po dlhom čase sa pán tých sluhov vrátil a začal s nimi účtovať.20 Predstúpil ten, čo dostal päť talentov, priniesol ďalších päť talentov a vravel: »Pane, päť talentov si mi odovzdal a hľa, ďalších päť som získal.«21 Jeho pán mu povedal: »Správne, dobrý a verný sluha; bol si verný nad málom, ustanovím ťa nad mnohým: vojdi do radosti svojho pána.«22 Predstúpil ten, čo dostal dva talenty, a vravel: »Pane, dva talenty si mi odovzdal a hľa, získal som ďalšie dva.«23 Jeho pán mu povedal: »Správne, dobrý a verný sluha; bol si verný nad málom, ustanovím ťa nad mnohým: vojdi do radosti svojho pána.«24 Predstúpil aj ten, čo dostal jeden talent, a hovoril: »Pane, viem, že si tvrdý človek: žneš, kde si nesial, a zbieraš, kde si nerozsýpal.25 Bál som sa, a preto som išiel a ukryl tvoj talent v zemi. Hľa, tu máš, čo je tvoje.«26 Jeho pán mu povedal: »Zlý a lenivý sluha! Vedel si, že žnem, kde som nesial, a zbieram, kde som nerozsýpal?27 Mal si teda moje peniaze dať peňazomencom a ja by som si bol po návrate vybral, čo je moje, aj s úrokmi.28 Vezmite mu talent a dajte ho tomu, čo má desať talentov.29 Lebo každému, kto má, ešte sa pridá a bude mať hojne. Ale kto nemá, tomu sa vezme aj to, čo má.30 A neužitočného sluhu vyhoďte von do tmy; tam bude plač a škrípanie zubami.«31 Až príde Syn človeka vo svojej sláve a s ním všetci anjeli, zasadne na trón svojej slávy.32 Vtedy sa pred ním zhromaždia všetky národy a on oddelí jedných od druhých, ako pastier oddeľuje ovce od capov.33 Ovce si postaví sprava a capov zľava.34 Potom Kráľ povie tým, čo budú po jeho pravici: »Poďte, požehnaní môjho Otca, zaujmite kráľovstvo, ktoré je pre vás pripravené od stvorenia sveta.35 Lebo som bol hladný a dali ste mi jesť; bol som smädný a dali ste mi piť; bol som pocestný a pritúlili ste ma;36 bol som nahý a priodeli ste ma; bol som chorý a navštívili ste ma; bol som vo väzení a prišli ste ku mne.«37 Vtedy mu spravodliví povedia: »Pane, a kedy sme ťa videli hladného a nakŕmili sme ťa, alebo smädného a dali sme ti piť?38 Kedy sme ťa videli ako pocestného a pritúlili sme ťa, alebo nahého a priodeli sme ťa?39 Kedy sme ťa videli chorého alebo vo väzení a prišli sme k tebe?«40 Kráľ im odpovie: »Veru, hovorím vám: Čokoľvek ste urobili jednému z týchto mojich najmenších bratov, mne ste urobili.«41 Potom povie aj tým, čo budú zľava: »Odíďte odo mňa, zlorečení, do večného ohňa, ktorý je pripravený diablovi a jeho anjelom!42 Lebo som bol hladný, a nedali ste mi jesť; bol som smädný, a nedali ste mi piť;43 bol som pocestný, a nepritúlili ste ma; bol som nahý, a nepriodeli ste ma; bol som chorý a vo väzení, a nenavštívili ste ma.«44 Vtedy mu aj oni povedia: »Pane, a kedy sme ťa videli hladného alebo smädného, alebo ako pocestného, alebo nahého, alebo chorého, alebo vo väzení, a neposlúžili sme ti?«45 Vtedy im on odpovie: »Veru, hovorím vám: Čokoľvek ste neurobili jednému z týchto najmenších, ani mne ste to neurobili.«46 A pôjdu títo do večného trápenia, kým spravodliví do večného života.“

MATTHEW 25

A Story about Ten Young Women

1  t The kingdom of heaven is like what happened one night when ten young women took their oil lamps and went to a wedding to meet the groom.t 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps, but no extra oil.

4 The ones who were wise took along extra oil for their lamps.
5 The groom was late arriving, and the young women became drowsy and fell asleep.

6 Then in the middle of the night someone shouted, “Here's the groom! Come to meet him!”
7 When the women got up and started getting their lamps ready,

8 the foolish ones said to the others, “Let us have some of your oil! Our lamps are going out.”

9 Those who were wise answered, “There's not enough oil for all of us! Go and buy some for yourselves.”
10 While the foolish ones were on their way to get some oil, the groom arrived. The five who were ready went into the wedding, and the doors were closed.

11 t Later the others returned and shouted, “Sir, sir! Open the door for us!”

12 But the groom replied, “I don't even know you!”

13 So, my disciples, always be ready! You don't know the day or the time when all this will happen.

A Story //about Three Servants

(Luke 19.11-27)

15 The man knew what each servant could do. So he handed 5,000 coins to the first servant, 2,000 to the second, and 1,000 to the third. Then he left the country.
16 As soon as the man had gone, the servant with the 5,000 coins used them to earn 5,000 more. 17 The servant who had 2,000 coins did the same with his money and earned 2,000 more.

18 But the servant with 1,000 coins dug a hole and hid his master's money in the ground.
19 Some time later the master of those servants returned. He called them in and asked what they had done with his money.

20 The servant who had been given 5,000 coins brought them in with the 5,000 that he had earned. He said, “Sir, you gave me 5,000 coins, and I have earned 5,000 more.”

21 “Wonderful!” his master replied. “You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!”

22 Next, the servant who had been given 2,000 coins came in and said, “Sir, you gave me 2,000 coins, and I have earned 2,000 more.”

23 “Wonderful!” his master replied. “You are a good and faithful servant. I left you in charge of only a little, but now I will put you in charge of much more. Come and share in my happiness!”
24 The servant who had been given 1,000 coins then came in and said, “Sir, I know that you are hard to work for. You harvest what you don't plant and gather crops where you haven't scattered seed.

25 I was frightened and went out and hid your money in the ground. Here is every single coin!”
26 The master of the servant told him, “You are lazy and good-for-nothing! You know I harvest what I don't plant and gather crops where I haven't scattered seed.

27 You could have at least put my money in the bank, so I could have earned interest on it.”
28 Then the master said, “Now your money will be taken away and given to the servant with 10,000 coins! 29 t Everyone who has something will be given more, and they will have more than enough. But everything will be taken from those who don't have anything.

30 t You are a worthless servant, and you will be thrown out into the dark where people will cry and grit their teeth in pain.”

The Final Judgment

32 The people of all nations will be brought before him, and he will separate them, as shepherds separate their sheep from their goats.
33 He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. 34 Then the king will say to those on his right, “My father has blessed you! Come and receive the kingdom that was prepared for you before the world was created. 35 t When I was hungry, you gave me something to eat, and when I was thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I was a stranger, you welcomed me,

36 and when I was naked, you gave me clothes to wear. When I was sick, you took care of me, and when I was in jail, you visited me.”
37 Then the ones who pleased the Lord will ask, “When did we give you something to eat or drink? 38 When did we welcome you as a stranger or give you clothes to wear

39 or visit you while you were sick or in jail?”

40 The king will answer, “Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me.”
41 Then the king will say to those on his left, “Get away from me! You are under God's curse. Go into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! 42 I was hungry, but you did not give me anything to eat, and I was thirsty, but you did not give me anything to drink.

43 I was a stranger, but you did not welcome me, and I was naked, but you did not give me any clothes to wear. I was sick and in jail, but you did not take care of me.”

44 Then the people will ask, “Lord, when did we fail to help you when you were hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in jail?”

45 The king will say to them, “Whenever you failed to help any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you failed to do it for me.”
46  t Then Jesus said, “Those people will be punished forever. But the ones who pleased God will have eternal life.”
