La resurrección

1 Después del *sábado, al amanecer del primer día de la semana, María Magdalena y la otra María fueron a ver el sepulcro.
2 Sucedió que hubo un terremoto violento, porque un ángel del Señor bajó del cielo y, acercándose al sepulcro, quitó la piedra y se sentó sobre ella. 3 Su aspecto era como el de un relámpago, y su ropa era blanca como la nieve. 4 Los guardias tuvieron tanto miedo de él que se pusieron a temblar y quedaron como muertos.
5 El ángel dijo a las mujeres:
—No tengan miedo; sé que ustedes buscan a Jesús, el que fue crucificado. 6 No está aquí, pues ha resucitado, tal como dijo. Vengan a ver el lugar donde lo pusieron. 7 Luego vayan pronto a decirles a sus discípulos: “Él se ha *levantado de entre los muertos y va delante de ustedes a Galilea. Allí lo verán.” Ahora ya lo saben.
8 Así que las mujeres se alejaron a toda prisa del sepulcro, asustadas pero muy alegres, y corrieron a dar la noticia a los discípulos. 9 En eso Jesús les salió al encuentro y las saludó. Ellas se le acercaron, le abrazaron los pies y lo adoraron.
10 —No tengan miedo —les dijo Jesús—. Vayan a decirles a mis hermanos que se dirijan a Galilea, y allí me verán.

El informe de los guardias

11 Mientras las mujeres iban de camino, algunos de los guardias entraron en la ciudad e informaron a los jefes de los sacerdotes de todo lo que había sucedido. 12 Después de reunirse estos jefes con los *ancianos y de trazar un plan, les dieron a los soldados una fuerte suma de dinero 13 y les encargaron: «Digan que los discípulos de Jesús vinieron por la noche y que, mientras ustedes dormían, se robaron el cuerpo. 14 Y si el gobernador llega a enterarse de esto, nosotros responderemos por ustedes y les evitaremos cualquier problema.»
15 Así que los soldados tomaron el dinero e hicieron como se les había instruido. Esta es la versión de los sucesos que hasta el día de hoy ha circulado entre los judíos.

La gran comisión

16 Los once discípulos fueron a Galilea, a la montaña que Jesús les había indicado. 17 Cuando lo vieron, lo adoraron; pero algunos dudaban. 18 Jesús se acercó entonces a ellos y les dijo:
—Se me ha dado toda autoridad en el cielo y en la tierra. 19 Por tanto, vayan y hagan discípulos de todas las *naciones, bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo, 20 enseñándoles a obedecer todo lo que les he mandado a ustedes. Y les aseguro que estaré con ustedes siempre, hasta el fin del mundo.s

Matthew 28

The Resurrection

1 Now after the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.2 Suddenly there was a severe earthquake, for an angel of the Lordt descending from heaven came and rolled away the stone and sat on it.3 Hist appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.4 Thet guards were shaken and became like dead men because they were so afraid of him.5 But the angel saidt to the women, “Do not be afraid; I knowt that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.s6 He is not here, for he has been raised,t just as he said. Come and see the place where hes was lying.7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has been raised from the dead. Het is going ahead of you into Galilee. You will see him there.’ Listen, I have told you!”8 Sot they left the tomb quickly, with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples.9 Butt Jesus met them, saying, “Greetings!” Theyt came to him, held on to his feet and worshiped him.

10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee. They will see me there.”

The Guards’ Report

11 Whilet they were going, somet of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests everything that had happened.12 Aftert they had assembled with the elders and formed a plan, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers,13 telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came at night and stole his bodyt while we were asleep.’14 Ift this matter is heard before the governor,t we will satisfy hims and keep you out of trouble.”t

15 So they took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story is told among the Jews to this day.s

The Great Commission

16 Sot the eleven disciples went to Galilee to the mountain Jesus had designated.17 Whent they saw him, they worshiped him,t but some doubted.t18 Then Jesus came up and said to them,t “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.19 Therefore got and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,s

20 teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember,t I am with yous always, to the end of the age.”s
