MATIUS 4
Yesus dicobai
(Mrk. 1:12-13; Luk. 4:1-13)
1 Kemudian Yesus dibimbing oleh Roh Allah ke padang gurun untuk dicobai oleh Iblis. t 2 Empat puluh hari empat puluh malam Yesus tidak makan. Lalu Ia merasa lapar. 3 Iblis datang dan berkata, “Engkau Anak Allah, bukan? Nah, suruhlah batu-batu ini menjadi roti.”
4 Yesus menjawab, “Di dalam Alkitab tertulis: Manusia tidak dapat hidup dari roti saja, tetapi juga dari setiap perkataan yang diucapkan oleh Allah.” t
5 Sesudah itu Iblis membawa Yesus ke Yerusalem, kota suci, dan menaruh Dia di atas puncak Rumah Tuhan. 6 Lalu Iblis berkata kepada-Nya, “Engkau Anak Allah, bukan? Kalau begitu, terjunlah ke bawah; sebab di dalam Alkitab ada tertulis begini, ‘Allah akan menyuruh malaikat-malaikat-Nya melindungi Engkau, mereka akan menyambut Engkau dengan tangan mereka, supaya kaki-Mu pun tidak tersentuh pada batu.’ ” t
7 Yesus menjawab, “Tetapi di dalam Alkitab tertulis juga, ‘Jangan engkau mencobai Tuhan Allahmu.’ ” t
8 Kemudian Iblis membawa Yesus lagi ke gunung yang tinggi sekali dan menunjukkan kepada-Nya semua kerajaan di dunia dengan segala kekayaannya. 9 Lalu Iblis berkata kepada Yesus, “Semua ini akan saya berikan kepada-Mu, kalau Engkau sujud menyembah saya.”
10 Yesus menjawab, “Pergi kau, hai Penggoda! Dalam Alkitab tertulis: Sembahlah Tuhan, Allahmu, dan layanilah Dia saja!” t
11 Akhirnya Iblis meninggalkan Yesus, dan malaikat-malaikat pun datang melayani Dia.
Yesus memulai pekerjaan-Nya di Galilea
(Mrk. 1:14-15; Luk. 4:14-15)
12 Ketika mendengar bahwa Yohanes dimasukkan ke dalam penjara, Yesus menyingkir ke Galilea. t 13 Ia meninggalkan Nazaret, lalu tinggal di Kapernaum di pinggir Danau Galilea di daerah Zebulon dan Naftali. t 14 Karena Yesus melakukan hal itu, terjadilah apa yang dikatakan oleh Nabi Yesaya:
15 “Tanah Zebulon dan tanah Naftali, di jalan ke danau, seberang Sungai Yordan, Galilea tanah orang bukan Yahudi! t
16 Bangsa yang hidup di dalam kegelapan telah melihat terang yang cemerlang! Bagi yang diam dalam negeri kegelapan maut telah terbit cahaya terang!”
17 Sejak waktu itu Yesus mulai mewartakan, “Bertobatlah dari dosa-dosamu, karena Allah akan segera memerintah sebagai Raja!” t
Yesus memanggil empat nelayan
(Mrk. 1:16-20; Luk. 5:1-11)
18 Ketika Yesus sedang berjalan di pantai Danau Galilea, Ia melihat dua nelayan, yaitu Simon (yang dinamai juga Petrus) dengan adiknya, Andreas. Mereka sedang menangkap ikan di danau itu dengan jala. Nelayan di Danau Galilea 19 Yesus berkata kepada mereka, “Mari ikutlah Aku. Aku akan mengajar kalian menjala orang.” 20 Langsung mereka meninggalkan jala mereka lalu mengikuti Yesus.
21 Yesus berjalan terus, lalu melihat pula dua orang bersaudara yang lain, yaitu Yakobus dan Yohanes, anak-anak Zebedeus. Mereka bersama-sama dengan ayah mereka sedang memperbaiki jala di dalam perahu. Yesus memanggil mereka juga, 22 dan mereka langsung meninggalkan perahu dan ayah mereka, lalu mengikuti Yesus.
Yesus mengajar, berkhotbah, dan menyembuhkan orang
(Luk. 6:17-19)
23 Di Galilea, Yesus berkeliling di seluruh negeri dan mengajar di rumah-rumah ibadat. Ia memberitakan Kabar Baik bahwa Allah akan memerintah. Dan Ia juga menyembuhkan orang-orang yang sakit dan cacat. t 24 Kabar tentang Yesus itu tersebar di seluruh negeri Siria, sehingga banyak orang datang kepada-Nya. Mereka membawa orang-orang yang menderita segala macam penyakit dan kesusahan. Orang-orang yang kemasukan roh jahat, yang sakit ayan, dan yang lumpuh, semuanya disembuhkan oleh Yesus. 25 Banyak sekali orang yang mengikuti Yesus pada waktu itu. Ada yang datang dari Galilea, ada yang dari Sepuluh Kota, dari Yerusalem, dari Yudea, dan ada pula yang dari negeri di seberang Yordan.
Matthew 4
The Temptation of Jesus
1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wildernesst to be tempted by the devil.2 After he fasted forty days and forty nights he was famished.t3 The tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread.”t4 But he answered,t “It is written, ‘Mantdoes not livetby bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”s5 Then the devil took him to the holy city,s had him standt on the highest points of the temple,6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you’s and ‘with their hands they will lift you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”s7 Jesus said to him, “Once again it is written: ‘You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’”s8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their grandeur.t9 And he said to him, “I will give you all these things if you throw yourself to the ground and worshipt me.”10 Then Jesus said to him, “Go away,s Satan! For it is written: ‘You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”s
11 Then the devil left him, and angelst came and began ministering to his needs.
Preaching in Galilee
12 Now when Jesust heard that John had been imprisoned,t he went into Galilee.13 While in Galilee, he moved from Nazareths to make his home in Capernaumtss by the sea,ts in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali,
14 so that what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled:t
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the way by the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles –
16 the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light,
and on those who sit in the region and shadow of death a light has dawned.”s
17 From that time Jesus began to preach this message:t “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”
The Call of the Disciples
18 Ast he was walking by the Sea of Galilee he saw two brothers, Simon (called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishermen).t19 He said to them, “Follow me, and I will turn you into fishers of people.”ts20 Theyt left their nets immediately and followed him.s21 Going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a boatt with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. Thent he called them.
22 Theyt immediately left the boat and their father and followed him.
Jesus’ Healing Ministry
23 Jesust went throughout all of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues,s preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of disease and sickness among the people.24 So a report about him spread throughout Syria. Peoplet brought to him all who suffered with various illnesses and afflictions, those who had seizures,t paralytics, and those possessed by demons,t and he healed them.
25 And large crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis,ts Jerusalem,s Judea, and beyond the Jordan River.t
